Total Eclipse of the Heart

OK so here we are the final chapter of this piece. I must say it's been a long and winding ride and I want to thank EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE who had read and especially those who took the time to review this. Anyway the song in the end montage of this chapter is 'Flightless Bird, American Mouth' by Iron & Wine from the soundtrack of a little movie which is the corner stone for this chapter. I don't own anything just my ideas and again I hope you liked this as much as I liked writing.

It had been a few weeks since the blessed even of Emma's birth and all seemed to be going well for everyone which was an early Christmas miracle, well if it lasted till then that is. It was now official that Milo was out of the mob and it seemed like Spinelli was soon to follow. He had moved out of casa de stone cold a week earlier however not entirely out of Harberview Towers. Across the hall there was an apartment that sat vacant. Its former occupant was Sonny but Jason assured him that it was now all Spinelli's to use to live his own life which he planed on doing once he got his PI business off the ground.

As Maxie got off the elevator she couldn't help but look across to penthouse two as flashes of all her memories ran through her head.

Placing her hand on the door knob she pushed the door open.

"Spinelli," she said.

Silence.

"Spin."

It was then she saw a blindfold lying on a folding table in the corner.

Wear me

She put on the mask though wondered what the game was as they were supposed to be at the Drive in less then an hour from now and she was hoping to stop to pick up take out at Kelly's on the way.

'Maximista is the mask on."

"Yes but..."

She heard him running down the steps before feeling his hand rest into hers.

"Keep your coat on and follow me."

She did as she was told, climbing up the penthouse steps.

"Ok, you can take off your mask," he spoke as the cool late November wind blew on her skin.

She looked over at her date dressed in a well fitting pair of jeans she had got him from a sample sale ay Wyndoms paired with a cream colored dress shirt and long black wool jacket.

On the ground sat some Orange Soda and Barbeque chips along with some of Maxie's favorite snacks. These were on top of a blanket.

"I thought we were heading to the movies, you promised you'd take me..."

"And the Jackal keeps his promises."

He let out one of his adorable grins as he pointed out to the horizon at the movie screen.

"Best seat in the house Maximista."

--

The sleek black town car pulled up into its spot at the drive in as Claire crinkled her nose in a way that drove Milo crazy. She still couldn't believe Sonny just gave him his Mercedes, or sure it was one of many cars the godfather owned but saying it was a 'retirement' present and giving it to a young man who was embarking on a career on the opposite side of the law, she guessed that Sonny would use it as a bargaining chip later on.

"Are you sure you want to see this movie," Milo asked looking at Claire who looked so angelic with her blond hair glowing in the moonlight, "I mean there are other movies out, you know I hear that new Disney cartoon is good."

"A Cartoon, really Milo like that's romantic."

"And a movie about Vampires is."

"Trust me, you'll like it."

He simply nodded taking her word for it as the screen went black and the film began.

--

Nadine entered the on call room listening to the water from the shower running and allowing for a smile to cross her lips.

She hated the Night Shift with a passion, especially since with Robin on maternity leave and Patrick having a sorter schedule she was sentenced to this torture almost every Friday night, sometimes even Saturday which killed her social life, well unless a certain someone was sentenced along with her.

"Nadine," Matt's voice said as he wrapped a towel around his wet body, "stalking me again I see."

"Stalking, no, I'm way beyond that; say have you been working out Hunter."

"Don't subject change."

Nadine let out a sigh.

"Anyway I'm between patients right now so I thought I'd grab a cup of coffee."

"Care for a date Crowell."

"I would be honored."

She watched him pull on a clean pair of scrubs just as an announcement over the PA system had called them to head to the OR and snapped them back to reality.

--

Kyle and Lucas were grateful for time alone. Kyle seemed to be one of the doctors picking up Robin and Patrick's slack while Lucas had been busy at the magazine and on top of that was now doing freelance work at the Herald.

"Finally," Lucas said as he entered the living room where Kyle was already sitting spreading out dinner in front of them, "alone time, no work, no baby, no friends."

Kyle grinned popping open a bottle of wine and smiling.

"I know, and I'm so glad we opted for some R and R instead of going to say the Metro Court."

"Please, if we went there either Carly would get up in our business, Kate would have some fashion emergency or some combo of the two."

Kyle nodded.

"It would be out luck," he agreed as he handed Lucas a glass of wind which with a smile on his face he clinked together with Kyle's.

--

Maxie was engrossed in the story playing out on the big screen. The films heroine had moved to a new town and had this divine fascination with this guy who wasn't like any other guys.

The leading male had just saved the female from a bunch of drunken gang members and was now offering to buy her dinner.

"I'm trying to read you Maximista," he whispered, his breath warming her skin a bit.

Resting her head on his shoulder she smiled.

"I know tons of screaming sixteen year olds think Edward is the perfect guy."

He made a face knowing that this probably wasn't going to end well.

"But you Spinelli are so much better then Edward Cullen."

Sure Edward Cullen was a fictional character but he was one that was pretty much the perfect boyfriend, despite the whole undead thing going for him. He was defiantly flattered as he picked up an extra blanket and wrapped it around both their bodies before wrapping his arm tighter around her.

--

Milo's eyes seemed to be glued to the screen now as Claire gave him an 'I told you so look.'

"Bored yet Milo."

All he did was shake his head causing her to giggle. This was going to be a good night, she could tell.

--

It seemed like forever yet it was only twenty minutes or so since they were called to assist on a surgery. It was a simple procedure and the patient would be fine which was great.

"So, still want that coffee," Matt asked, "because I could use something warm, and something sweet."

Nadine looked at him in her quirky way causing him to melt like butter on a warm day.

"What," Matt asked as Nadine's lips suddenly caressed his in a short yet sensual kiss. "And the reason for that."

"You said you wanted something sweet."

"I was talking about a cinnamon bun but your kisses defiantly do the trick."

"Well then," leaning in she gave him another kiss before he pulled her back.

"We better get that coffee soon if we plan to have it at all."

Claire nodded as they made their way towards the cafeteria.

--

Dinner was good, Lucas was an excellent cook and Kyle was greatly impressed not only that his boyfriend was a culinary master but that he had a knack for bringing home the perfect wine selection to match.

"So," Lucas said smiling, "what to do, what to do."

"Well there is a Brady Bunch marathon on TV Land," Kyle said as Lucas gave him a deer in the headlights kind of look.

"Brady Bunch, Kyle seriously."

"What, it's a good show."

"I know it's a good show it's just...well it's not as romantic as say a movie or something."

"What kind of movie do you have in mind," Kyle asked as Lucas pointed to his extensive DVD collection that Dillon had helped him create back when they were roommates for a semester at PCU back in the fall of 2005.

Picking some old black and white film that he'd previously seen a million times Lucas came back from the VCR to where Kyle was already curled on the couch by the fire and cuddled up against him.

--

I was a quick wet boy, diving too deep for coins
All of your street light eyes wide on my plastic toys

Kyle and Lucas's attentions didn't hold to the old black and white for long as their bodies sat intertwined by the fire.

Looking into one another's eyes they knew that this was a turning point in their relationship, a relationship which was one of the first big deals for both of them.

Lucas picked up the DVD remote and turned off the DVD and flipped the Television to a music channel where a soft slow song was playing. Letting the music take over the two young men were now lost in the moment as their lips crashed into one another for a long lingering kiss which was sure to lead to more by nights end.

Then when the cops closed the fair, I cut my long baby hair
Stole me a dog-eared map and called for you everywhere

They finished their coffees and made their way back to the on call room. This had to be one of the best nights on the night shift that the two of them had ever had apart or together in, well pretty much ever.

"So, Crowell, do you think we will get another page."

Nadine looked at the clock hanging in the room. It was barely ten PM and they were supposed to be on call till at least three AM.

She nodded.

"The night is young Hunter."

Matt smiled his perfect smile to her.

"Well since the night is young and all and we are painfully without patients..."

"Hold the phone, you Mr. Surgical Resident may be patient free but I have rounds."

"They can wait long enough to have a dance."

"So dances in this room are going to be out thing now."

Matt nodded as he assured her that if Epiphany got on her case he'd take the blame before flipping on the old radio in the room.

Have I found you
Flightless bird, jealous, weeping or lost you, American mouth
Big pill looming

The movie was still playing on screen as Milo gently tapped Claire on the shoulder.

"Are you sure you want to watch this part," he asked as on the screen James had just lured Bella into the dreaded ballet studio to attack her.

"Why wouldn't I want to watch," Claire asked.

Milo shrugged.

"Well, I just thought that Bella being attacked may bring up bad memories of Jerry Jacks and the Russians holding you captive."

Claire smiled thinking that Milo's thought was sweet.

"I'm good but thanks for the thought."

He nodded as he studied her body in the moonlight thinking about when they first met at the coffee house when she had absentmindedly spilled her coffee all over him. Sure it wasn't a traditional romance by any means but they made it through so much already that he defiantly saw a strong hope for the future with her.

"And so the Lion fell in love with the Lamb," he whispered as she looked at him grinning.

"What a stupid Lamb," Claire said resting her head on his shoulder.

"What a sick masochistic Lion," Milo replied putting his arm around her as they watched the rest of the film.

Now I'm a fat house cat
Nursing my sore blunt tongue
Watching the warm poison rats curl through the wide fence cracks

Spinelli looked at his angelic Maxie was curled up by his side to keep her small frail body warm. He had offered her his jacket but she refused insisting that Spinelli needed it because she didn't want him to catch a cold.

The scene on screen had now changed to the Forks High prom and the main characters were stealing a moment in the gazebo talking and dancing.

"Maximista, may I have this dance," Spinelli asked causing her to smile as they stood up from their seats on the roof and positioned their bodies close together swaying it in time to the music from the screen.

Pissing on magazine photos
Those fishing lures thrown in the cold
And clean blood of Christ mountain stream

The first snows of winter began to suddenly fall as they leaned in to kiss one another. It was truly something magical as they pulled back.

"I love you Maxie."

"I love you too Spinelli."

Leaning in to kiss once more they were oblivious to the fact that while Victoria was watching the young lovers on the screen a pair of eyes were watching them.

Have I found you
Flightless bird, grounded, bleeding or lost you, American mouth
Big pill stuck going down

THE END

About the song used the lyrics mean nothing specific to the story just that it's in the Prom Scene in Twilight and listening to the soundtrack totally inspired this chapter. As far as the eyes you can use your imagination as this is it, this is the final chapter and as of not I do NOT plan to write any sequels for this. Again I hope you enjoyed this and again thanks a ton for reading this.
