Chapter Two: The Present

"Naruto-nii!!! Wait up!!! You could help by carrying the evidence you know!!" shouted a young girl of about seven. She was running after a boy, about her age.

"Yeah, but what's the fun is that?" the boy laughed and his smaller sister growled. You wouldn't know it by their looks, even their personalities were different, but these two were twins, and both shared an equally unfair burden: They were both the carriers of the Kyuubi no Youkai.

The girl, Mitsukaiko, was only about 41 inches, about three feet tall, and was carrying three bails of paint, two brushes, fireworks, and one package of smoke bombs. She was struggling carrying it and finally her older twin took pity and took the paint. Before the pile was hiding away her body, but know that she had less items to carry, her features were finally revealed. The young girl had shoulder length red hair, and mesmerizing beautiful emerald orbs that sparkled with curiosity and boldness. The common tomboy, as some would call her. She was skinny, skinnier than someone her age should be, but she doesn't notice. She hides her small frame under a large red shirt that acts a dress, and baggy, but still fitting, black pants. On her feet, she wore black ninja sandals. Not only was she skinny, but she was pale, she almost a reincarnate of her mother, except for three things. Her eyes were slanted, like a fox, she had three whisker-like scratches on her cheeks, and her ears were slightly pointed.

Naruto, on the other hand, had short spiky blond hair, and sapphire gems that sparkled with mischief and kindness. He was also sun-kissed tan, and he too, was like a mini-Yondaime except for the same three markings. He was taller than his sister, if only by three inches, and was as skinny as the girl too. He hid his small frame by hiding in large, obnoxious clothes. His shirt was large, though smaller than his sisters, and it was black. His pants, though, were bright orange, and he had an orange jacket tied around his waist. The bright colors didn't help the duo from escaping the tons of Chunins sent after them, but at the same time it didn't help the Chunin either. Suddenly, Naruto, getting tired of the chase, flashed through a couple of hand signs and turned around.

"Sexy Jutsu!" he yelled, and immediately most of their pursuit, all men and few women, fell unconscious with nosebleeds. His sister rolled her eyes, and they resumed with running. They ran into an abandoned alley, and jumped though a sewer hole, though it was unknown to the remaining Chunin, who were searching for clues in vain.

"Naruto, you know I hate you using that Jutsu!" Mitsukaiko scolded. Naruto, shadowing his sister's earlier response, rolled his eyes.

"It got most of the enemy off our backs, didn't it?" Enemies…that's what they called most ninja, since they did nothing to help them throughout their miserable lives, and most of the times always joined in on the beatings. However, there were some, like Inu, Neko, the old man, and few other who were nice to the lonely orphans. "Besides, it helps me in getting the henge jutsu down." He shrugged and they walked for a few miles, underneath the streets of Konoha, until they got to the last sewer hole. Naruto did a mock bow, sweeping his hand motioning for his sister to go before him. "Last stop, m'Lady?" Mitsukaiko giggled and did a curtsy.

"Why, thank you kind gentleman, would you care to join me and enter the palace in the sky?" Palace in the sky, that's what they called their apartment, because most of the time they would usually enter their home from underground, and one time Naruto had commented that it was like they were climbing a tall ladder and when they got near the top, there they found a magnificent palace among the clouds. Of course, in reality, the apartment was anything but magnificent. It was run-down, grungy, and a million other words could be used. Of course, for the twins, they took what they could, and always were thankful for it. So if course, in their eyes, this was a thousand times better than living in the orphanage or in the streets.

Naruto's eyes sparkled and after her, they climbed the ladder and entered their apartment through an escape way that was planted in the living room in one of the bottom rooms. Of course, no one yelled. It was just them in the apartment.

"So, how was the prank? Talk about best idea YET!" Naruto laughed and Mitsukaiko joined him. Suddenly, a small bit of K.I. was sent at them, and they both froze.

"Was it, Naruto! Well, I must say congratulations on getting past both the Hyuuga and Uchiha security, but still! You must be punished for that prank! Both of you, two weeks of detention, Mitsukaiko, you will serve the Uchihas. Naruto, you'll serve the Hyuugas. Both of you will live there until the end of your punishment." Both twins turned to each other and turned a pale color, before promptly passing out. Iruka, who was the one scolding them, looked taken back for a minute, before smiling and shaking his head. He put both kids on the couch and then packed their bags for them. Knowing those two, they would pack useless stuff. After doing that, he took the two bags, Mitsukaiko's being black with red rose petals, and Naruto's being orange with ramen all over it.

He dropped Mitsukaiko off first, Itachi taking her from the Chunin and then took the bag.

"She's a handful, that one. Make sure she goes nowhere NEAR coffee, sugar, pop, candy, anything of that sort. Unless you want your compound to be nothing but a pile of dust. All her stuff is in the bag, she's smarter than she looks or acts, she likes mind games, um…Oh, make sure she doesn't stay up late, no later than-" the mother hen was cut off by Itachi, who had a warm smile of his face.

"Relax, she's in good hands. I know the true reason Naruto and Mitsu-chan need to stay at other houses, is because for their birthday, Hokage-sama is tearing down their apartment and building a new one." Iruka relaxed and sighed.

"Yeah, just be careful with her, ok? She's been through a lot." Iruka then took his leave at Itachi's nod and then arrived at the Hyuuga compound, where Hiashi and Hizashi both greeted him.

"Ah, here's out little clothes thief." Hiashi said with a chuckle, and Hizashi smiled lightly. "They're going to both be excited when they see their new apartment." Iruka nodded, a smile on his face as he gave the sleeping Naruto to Hizashi.

"Truthfully, I think the Hokage spoils them, but who am I to say that?" Iruka said playfully. Then he turned serious. "Naruto is smarter then he looks, he'll trick you into buying him ramen and then eat like, 20 bowls. He'll also try to goad you into doing something, you've already seen what he can do, he's sneaky as hell and has an amazing stamina, seeing as he can escape a whole team of Anbu, him and his sister…" this shocked the two Hyuugas, and Iruka continued, "You both know Naruto, so it shouldn't be too much trouble, right?" Hiashi nodded and grabbed the bag away from Iruka.

"Ok, now off with you. You're too worried, you need to relax." Giving a sly look, he added, "Maybe Anko would help you with that, ne?" he laughed, seeing Iruka's blush and turned around, Hizashi following. "See you in two weeks, Iruka-san. Naruto will be just fine." With a gleam in his eye, Hiashi added under his breath, "Of course, he doesn't get off of punishment easily though." With a snicker he walked further away, Hizashi following him with a roll of his eyes. Sometimes his twin was such a geek.

At the Uchiha's, Itachi had just walked in with a sleeping Mitsukaiko, who had her head laying on Itachi shoulders, and was slightly curled, scooting closer to the warmth that was Itachi. Mikoto saw this and couldn't hold back the squeal.

"AWWWWW!! She's SOOOOO adorable!!!!" she gently tugged the sleeping child away and smiled down at her. "She looks like her mother, doesn't she, Fugaku?" she asked and her husband nodded, smiling at the scene. His wife, though she never said aloud, had always wanted a baby girl. She had wanted to adopt the two twins, but their council would not allow it, saying it was a disgrace to adopt someone who was not an Uchiha. Her, Kushina, and Hina (I have no clue what Hinata's moms name is, so if you're wondering who Hina is, that's my best guess) had always been friends, despite the rivalry between their clans. It was the same for their husbands too.

Mitsukaiko, who had started to stir when Mikoto had squealed, opened her eyes slowly and yawned.

"Huh? Where am i?" she asked, a yawn could be heard in her voice. Mikoto sat her down and Mitsukaiko rubbed her eyes, she was tired, part of the reason was why she passed out, along with the news.

"Dear, you're in the Uchiha Head's villa. Welcome, dear, I am Mikoto, and you can just call me mom while you're here." The dark haired woman gave the child a hug and Mitsukaiko sweat-dropped.

"Uhhhh….Ok? I thought I had to live here for two weeks as a punishment for helping Naru-nii with his prank." She froze as she remembered. "Uh, you guys…uh, aren't mad, are you?" she asked, fear creeping into her voice. She'd seen what people would do to her and Naruto when they made the villagers mad. Fugaku frowned at the fear.

"Heavons above, girl, no. We're only mad at our own ninja for letting two Academy students slip by them, and switch all of our clothes with the Hyuugas, and paint every single of our houses a nasty orange and neon green." He frowned. It had taken most of the Uchiha genin, and a few outside the clan, a couple of hours to get the horrid colors out. Not to mention to sort the Uchiha clothes from the Hyuugas. He shuddered, he'd never think of Hiashi the same again. He'd just see the man thong with Hiashi stitched on the tag.

Mitsukaiko relaxed and Mikoto let go of her. Suddenly there was a call and a small boy, about Mitsukaiko's height, ran into the room.

"Mom! Why is there another bed in my bedroom! And why is there a bag on it, and why is there a girl in our living room, and why are your hugging her, and why-"

"Sasuke, brother, enough questions. This is Mitsukaiko, she will be staying with us for two weeks. Mom is hugging her because she is easily overcome by cute things, and seeing her sleeping on my shoulder, I guess, got her into a hugging mood. She will be sleeping in your room with you, and that's her bag on the bed." Sasuke stood there, slack jawed, and staring at his family.

"Are you serious!!" at his father's nod, he froze for a second. Then jumped in the air. "YAY!! I GET A SISTER!!" sticking his tongue out at Itachi, he grabbed Mitsukaiko's hand, who was cut off guard and accidently tripped, falling over. This caused her to cry out and accidently fall over Sasuke. The resulting position was too much to bear and Mikoto took a picture from a camera she got out of nowhere.

"AWWWW! Aren't they SO CUTE!! They'd make a cute couple!!!" she gushed, and the two males in the room laughed. However, the two kids were blushing and quickly got up, and stood at least five feet away from each other. Poor Mitsukaiko was blushing redder than Hinata does, and Sasuke only had a light pink over his pale cheeks.

"Moooooom!!! Stop embarrassing me!!!" Sasuke whined and Mitsukaiko, blush gone, giggled. She had always thought the Uchihas were a bunmch of stiffs, but it didn't seem like it when watching the happy family interact with each other.

"Now, Sasuke, please take Mitsukaiko to your room and get acquainted with each other." Said Fugaku and Sasuke nodded, all to happy to lead his sister away and start babbling about random stuff.

"How old are you anyway?" asked Sasuke and Mitsukaiko blushed.

"Seven…" Sasuke nodded at her reply.

"Really, I'm eight! Oh, by the way, don't be nervous around Itachi, ok? He may look and act like a zombie, but he's really cool when he wants to be and is showing off. Hey, I should explain how things work around here, right?" at his new friend's uncertain nod, he continued. (lol, I couldn't help it, what little kid doesn't talk a lot? Plus, it's too cute and I don't like snobby kid Sasuke) "Well, everyone gets up at around seven, get ready, and eat breakfast in the dining room at eight. After that everyone goes around to do whatever, and at one lunch starts. By the way, tardiness is frowned upon in this family, and if you're late we will start without you and make you wait five minutes before you eat. I had to go through that before. It sucks." He looked nervous. "Shhh, don't tell mom I said that, ok?" at Mitsukaiko's giggle he blushed and continued. "Um, once again do whatever you want after lunch, and then dinner stars at five. Mmm, you should taste mom's cooking, she's a genius when it comes to that stuff. I usually help her out, you know!" he stated proudly. He noticed that they had reached a door and smiled. "Well, here's our room!" he opened it and Mitsukaiko took a moment to study it. It had several shinobi nindos and a few posters of famous shinobi, a few toy kunai and such were spread every where, but not on the floor. There were two beds, one in a corner of the room with her bag on it, and another on the wall opposite of hers under the window. The walls were entirely dark blue with the Uchiha symbols painted on it, and both beds had the same design. There were two dressers, and one closet. Next to the dresser was a stand full of books of various genres. Truth be told, she thought the room to be…bland. "It's a little blah, but Father wouldn't let me change anything. But, that didn't stop me from trying to add a bit of life into this place." Closing the door he quickly ran into a little corner that had various items stacked, making a sort of pile of random items. "Don't tell dad or mom, Itachi already knows, but I'll get into serious trouble if they find out about this." He pulled out a can of Pringles and then two cans of pop. "I'm really allowed to have sweets, but tachi-chan and I have our secret stacks planted throughout the house anyway. Tachi-chan showed me this cool jutsu to keep food and drinks from spoiling and becoming warm! It help a lot!" Mitsukaiko giggled. Sasuke and Naruto would get along quite well, she ought to introduce them sometime. Sasuke plopped onto his bed. "So, angel-chan! Got any sibs?"

"Yeah, actually I have a twin named Naruto. He doesn't really look like me, or even act like me, but we're close. He's the only person I have in my life, besides the old man or Iruka-sensei…" Sasuke's eyes widened.

"Well, you have us, too!" at the young girls confused look, he added, "Tachi and me! Mom and dad! Think of us as your second family! And ignore anything mom says. She'll try to get us together, I just know it." The eight year old boy got a glint in his eye. Yes, he knew his mother TOO well, when it came to girls. The red headed girl nodded and giggled at the same time. Sasuke realized she was still standing and motioned to her bed. "Well, make yourself at home. You might as well, since you're going to be here for two weeks." He shrugged and grabbed two books from the bookcase. "Here, it's a good book." He threw a book at her and she caught it, and stared at the title. Betrayed. (hint hint) The young girl shrugged and flipped to the first page, where it entered with a dramatic scene. Mitsukaiko stared, wide eyed as she continued to read. Sasuke, out of the corner of his eyes, blushed as he stared at her.

With Naruto, he was currently coming to when he suddenly sat straight up and realized he wasn't at his apartment and is twin was nowhere in sight. He jumped up, ran to door and was about to open it opened and a tall man with long brown hair and blank, yet soft and caring, white eyes appeared. Naruto, not seeing him, accidently bumped into him and fell onto his butt. He glared up and froze, realizing that the man was Hiashi Hyuuga, otherwise known as the Hyuuga head that had more sticks shoved up his butt than Fugaku Uchiha. Hiashi saw this and smiled, making the blonde boy wary.

"Hello, Naruto-kun. You will be staying in the Branch house with my twin, Hizashi and his son Neji. Ah, speaking of which, here is Neji-kun." Hiashi moved away and a young boy that looked almost like Hiashi walked into the room. He looked at Naruto with curiosity but at the same time coldness.

"Yes, Hiashi-sama?" asked the boy, who couldn't be no older then nine years old. There was contempt in his voice as he spoke to Hiashi and the said man sighed.

"I wish for you to take Naruto and show him around. Oh, and if you see Hinata, allow her to walk with you." Neji nodded and told Naruto to follow him. Not wanting to anger either of them, Naruto did as asked.

Behind the scenes:

He dropped Mitsukaiko off first, Itachi taking her from the Chunin and then took the bag.

"She's a handful, that one. Make sure she goes nowhere NEAR coffee, sugar, pop, candy, anything of that sort. Unless you want your compound to be nothing but a pile of camdy." The two paused and suddenly Itachi and Mitsukaiko burst out laughing. "I'm sorry! Can we redo that again, please?"

"Camdy? First, how do you mistake dust for that and second what the heck is camdy?" asked Naruto, who was behind the scenes.

"I don't know!!!" Iruka said blushing. Sam, the director, because we made him, sighed.

"Act 1, scene 2, take: three…"

"She's a handful that one. Make sure she gets near, wait…crap! I messed up again!" everyone was cracking up laughing besides Sam.

"Can we please get this right this time?" Iruka nodded and they got into place. Right when he was about to speak, Itachi broke in.

"Camdy…" no one could breathe.

Xxx

"Huh? Where am i?" she asked, a yawn could be heard in her voice. Mikoto sat her down and Mitsukaiko rubbed her eyes, she was tired, part of the reason was why she passed out, along with the news.

"Dear, you're in the Uchiwa H…oops…" Mikoto chuckled and Sam slapped his face. Sasuke suddenly raced down the stairs.

"Mom! Why…Too soon, right?" everyone nodded and Mitsukaiko laughed.

"Alright, everyone, break for five. I've gotta get a water…" Sam got up from the directors chair and Jessica went to put on the chair.

Xxx

As Sam went to sit on the chair, he felt something wet on his bottom. He quickly got up and turned, letting everyone see neon pink paint on his behind. Hearing the laughter, Sam turned around and glared at the culprit who feigned innocence and pointed at Naruto, who gaped at Jessica.

"Me? Everyone saw you do it Jess, don't blame me!"

"JE-SS-I-CAAAAA!!!" with that, Jessica ran, Sam following her, at the same time trying to throw things at her.

Me: I got
Children of Eden songs stuck in my head…Anyone who hasn't heard of this musical, it's pretty cool. I like the songs especially. It's, if you've haven't guessed, is a religious play and I'm in it for my school. I got one of the storyteller parts, thank God. I couldn't stand to be one of the main characters.

Alice: I got a part too, one of the storytellers.

Me: I wanna either be a fox or a deer for one of the animal parts. Or a tiger…or a wolf…

Alice: Eagle…

Me: The dancing will be hard…Oh well! It'll be fun!!

Alice: anywho, please read and review!

Me: THEY'VE ALREADY READ!! ARE WE SERIOUSLY GOING TO GO BACK TO THAT AGAIN!!

Alice: Go back to what?

Me: ARGH!!

Alice: One question, what will us storytellers be wearing? Angel costumes or like…robes like those church singers?

Me:…good question…Meanwhile, while we pawn over what we will be doing, you guys will be reviewing!! Review, or I won't make another chappie!! And you know how sad that will make me!!

Alice: you're actually not going to write!

Me: Nope, not until I get one review!!

Alice: Oh boy…review peoples please!!
