Title: 100 Compliments

Author: Emo Barbie

Rating: T

Part: 7/100

Disclaimer: Perry would like to remind you that Emo Barbie owns none of characters or scrubs itself that is used in this story, never has and never will, just like how rainbows will never produce gold, pigs will never fly and a pink rabbit will never be able to get into your house and hide those little eggs that you find in the morning.

JD would also like to remind you that comments are loved! But...those comments that are giving some helpful advice would be much appreciated, as long as you please do so in a nice manner! Thank you very much.

Extra: This one wasn't the best chapter, the only idea I had to go on was the fact that Dr Cox wanted J.D to shave off his beard, and with that idea I put together the best story I could, especially with it being 3 o'clock in the morning. The Opening and middle weren't too good on my part but I did like the ending...ending meaning like the actual 5 last lines, XD, I'm not a big fan of the whole rest of the story. But as I said I'll be trying to write more longer chapters...sadly with this attempt it did not work out that great.

100 Compliments:

J.D strolled into the hospital, a grin on his face after his three day vacation from the hospital, one that had been insisted by from Carla, who had come back to work finally and with her magical shift changing skills she had given him time off.

Things had started to go down hill, Mrs. Joel had died, and J.D was feeling a little lonely after Elliot had moved without him. Not to mention he hadn't even found an apartment yet.

So Carla had suggested a few days to himself, maybe hit up a bar or two, a club. Find an apartment.

Though he hadn't managed to actually do anything about his apartment, he had to admit, it had helped. And he felt more confident then ever. Especially with his new look.

"Dr Cox." J.D stood proudly before his mentor.

"Why look who's back, it's Paulina." Dr Cox turned to face J.D, crossing his arms as he did his trademark nose swipe, his eyes narrowing on the man. "And what is that on your face? Is that...Oh my God, is that facial hair? A beard? Really, Newbie? Now what poor defenseless animal did you steal that from? Nawty-Nawty." Dr Cox waved a finger at him.

"Ha ha, very funny." J.D furrowed his brows as he rolled his eye.

"Now, Katie, don't tell me that things real." He shook his head. "I don't think I'd be able to take such news!"

"Why?" J.D suddenly grinned. "Do I look to handsome now?"

"What? No. Of course not." Dr Cox waved his hand in dismissal. "You just don't under what you've done. You upset the balance of nature! Girl's growing beards, what's next? Huh, men growing boobs." The doctor turned around still muttering to himself every now and then throwing up his hands to emphasize his rant, even though J.D could no longer hear a word of his rant.

"Ah, don't listen to him, Bambi. I think it looks striking." Carla muttered as she leaned across the nurse's station, forcing J.D to turn his eyes away from the retreating back of Dr Cox towards the Latino woman.

"Really? You think so?" J.D was grinning again, rubbing at his chin.

"Of course. It gives you that manly look that no women can resist." Carla stated, grinning coyly at him.

"Now, baby, you're married." Turk placed a hand on his wife's shoulder as he watched up behind her, Carla letting out a small sigh as she gave a small shrug of her shoulders.

"Oh yeah, that's right." She stated in fake disappointment. "Guess there's no Bambi in my future." Carla couldn't help the snort that escaped her, the corners of her mouth turning up into a grin as she turned and walked to the other side of the station.

"Ah, man, don't listen to either of them. Ya look good, man." He grinned at his best friend as he moved around the counter to stand beside him.

"Aw, thanks C-Bear." J.D leaned over to pull his best friend into a bear hug but he was quickly pushed away.

"Hold on their buddy, you're trying to act cool, remember?"

"Oh yeah..." J.D straightened up and slicked back his hair, something that probably would have been cool back in the 70's, but not it was just overrated, and would cause J.D to have to spend another ten minutes of his shift trying to get it "perfect" once more.

"Hey, your rounds..."

"Ah!" J.D quickly grabbed for his charts before zooming off down the hall. Man why was it that he was always forgetting those lately?

"Hey, have either of you seen Mrs. BurlyBeard around?" Dr Cox muttered stepping up to Elliot and Carla who were hovering around the nurse's station.

"You mean, Bambi?" Carla narrowed her eyes on the man, as he gave a curt nod. "Why can't you just be supportive? Bambi likes it."

"So." He gave a small shrug. "That thing only makes it look as if he has an animal taking refuge on his face."

Carla raise an eyebrow. "Oh, and yours doesn't?"

"Oh please, Carla. I can pull one off. My strapping figure allows such a thing. Now Shirley temple over there-" Dr Cox muttered, his eyes narrowing as he finally caught sight of Newbie as he made his way towards them, chatting away with one of the blonde nurse's. "Is that...Coffee Lady?" His eyes narrowed all that much more as he gave the kid a heated gaze, feeling a flash of anger wash over him as he flicked his nose and crossed his arms.

"Ah, look, J.D's found himself a new girlfriend." Elliot's words didn't help the situation,

"See." Carla grinned. "It seems that a few people like the new look too."

Dr Cox turned his glare from the oncoming J.D towards Carla. "Yeah, I bet they're all just talking it up on all the new beard grooming tips out there."

"Oh come on." Carla gave a roll of her eyes. "You know what? You're just jealous."

"Jealous?" He gave her a look. "And what am I to be jealous of? That he's gotten the attention of Coffee Lady?" Even though he had been trying for several weeks now, with no actual progress.

"No." There was a slight shrug of her shoulder's as her eyes moved to find Bambi still making his way towards them. Kid was definitely taking his damn sweet time. "I think you hate the fact that Bambi hasn't been hanging on you recently."

"And I should be jealous of that...because...why, exactly?" That was a heaven sent.

"You don't fool me. You know you like having him follow you around. I hear you called him your "little puppy"."

Damn that kid for having to blab everything.

He quickly shook his head as he held up a finger. "Oh, no no no no no, you see, I called him a puppy. I never said anything about him being my puppy. I was simply stating the fact that he was like any annoying, unpotty-trained, lovesick puppy."

"You said I was loyal." Dr Cox turned to find J.D at his side a large smile on his unshaven face, Coffee Lady had obviously parted ways with him as she was now busying herself with the Coffee.

"I also said that I would trade you for one of those flashy show dogs in a heartbeat. I would." He muttered.

"Ya still said it."

"Why are you in this conversation? I believe this way between me and your mother here."

The grin on the others face widened as he titled his head up towards the ceiling his eyes glazing over before there was a sharp whistle and a snap of fingers in his face.

"And don't even start, I am not your father. Nor would I ever, ever in the world me me, think of you as my son."

"Your wife?"

Both Carla and Dr Cox turned disturbed and bewildered looks his way. "I was fishin'." J.D shrugged his shoulders, but the statement sounded a little more like a question.

"Fishing for what?" Carla raised an eyebrow, but before he could even answer Dr Cox was turning with a huff and storming off down the hall, drawing them to another subject.

"What's up with him?" J.D turned back towards Carla, but he only received a shrug in response.

Dr Cox found himself staring down into a cup of hot coffee, a glare on his face that was quite well reflected within the black murky substance.

"Can I touch it?"

His eyes moved up to a table, and to no surprise he was greeted with the sight of Newbie; a girl, who he was sure this time it was the girl that worked the gift shop, running a hand across his face, her fingers trailing across his beard.

Dr Cox could have sworn he heard his teeth crack as he clenched his jaw. But it wasn't Coffee Lady that J.D was with, so why was he so angry still?

"How long have you-"

There was a loud screech of chair legs as Dr Cox stood from his seat, a snarl on his face as he turned and headed from the cafeteria the doors swinging behind him.

A puzzled J.D staring after him.

He found himself in the break room. He had attempted to care for a few patients but after handing the charts over to Carla he had nothing more then to come and try to distract himself with television.

Which is why he was currently doing, sitting on the couch, remote in hand as he stared up at Oprah's smiling face. The only thing sadly, that was on at that moment. Fortunately it was able to take his attention away from his worries.

Not that...he would really call them worries. Or, admit that they were in fact...his worries...or problems, cause then he would also have to admit to the fact that he was in fact jealous, which he wasn't, and-

Dammit he was thinking about the damn kid again.

"Dr Cox?"

"Great." Dr Cox sighed as he felt the couch level out as J.D plopped down beside him, the man refusing to tare his eyes away from the television screen.

There was silence that lasted between them for some time, until finally J.D spoke up. "So..."

"So, what, Hannah?" He quickly cut the other off, turning to glare at him.

J.D's eyes automatically snapped down towards the floor as he gave a meek shrug. "So...are you going to admit that you were wrong?"

"Wrong about what, Newbie?"

"About my beard." He was finally meeting his eyes again, a new found determination there that he didn't like that much. "I know that you noticed. I mean, it's kinda hard not to notice all the girls that have been hanging around the J-ster."

Dr Cox turned his eyes back towards the television, but the kid's cocky grin still shone brightly in his eyes. He felt like fucking Alice in Wonderland, where no matter where he looked there was that damn Cheshire Cat's grin everywhere. Not that...Perry read or watched that kinda stuff.

"Nope."

They fell silent once again, he would feel the other fidgeting, like he was waiting for him to say something else. He wasn't.

After a moment J.D finally sighed as he stood up, planning to try later, he was certain that the other would eventually cave and finally compliment his beard. He had too. He still had so many compliments left to go, and it wouldn't really be that hard to actually compliment a beard.

"Shave it off."

"What?" J.D stopped mid-step towards the door. He couldn't believe it. "But all the girl's like it!"

Dr Cox never turned his eyes away from the TV as he spoke. "You look..." J.D could clearly see the sudden clenching of teeth and the gulp that the other had to take. "better, without it."

J.D found himself without words, the doctor finally turning to meet his eyes. "And that, Newbie...is a compliment."

There was a debate going on in J.D's head. Get all the girls, or be better looking for Dr Cox...Girls or Dr Cox...

In the end J.D would walk in the next day, no hint of beard on his face and still a giant smile plastering it.

"You look good." Dr Cox nodded nonchalantly, and J.D could have sworn that he saw just a hint of a small smile on the others lips. "And that...is my own option. Not a compliment."
