Chapter 38
~ Fight or Flight ~
When night came Anna and Elsa were ready dressed in the Royal Guard Uniforms. Elsa was still quite weak, Anna was unsure if her sister could make the trip but getting her away from Hans was her top priority.
"Anna." Elsa walked over to her she spoke with a tremble in her voice. "I'm worried." she told her sister. Nervously fiddling with her hands. "I'm scared that we are going to be caught." Elsa whispered. Anna smiled at her and placed both of her hands on her sisters shoulders. "Elsa you and I are going to be just fine." The Princess assured.
"Girls." came a voice from the door. "We have to go, right now." The Captain stood waiting for them as they rushed to the door and closed it behind them. Soon they began to slowly walk off into the castle and downstairs. So far Elsa didn't see anyone that would stop them. But her heart pounded faster and faster with every step she took. Elsa turned to Anna and gave her a nervous glance, but the princess didn't notice as she kept looking forward. Soon all three were at the castles exit. Through the gates that led out into the courtyard. Arendelle guards were positioned at the gates that led into the village. So the three crept around and went to the back.
"Now what!" Elsa whispered panicking. "I thought you had a plan!" She said quietly in a stern tone. Looking up at the wall that separated them from the village. The captain though did seem to have a plan. He walked into the corner and removed overgrown vines from the wall. "There was an old entrance here, people who worked in the castle used to use it long ago. Until it the sea expanded and began overflowing onto the land. But don't worry it's frozen over at the moment."
Elsa sighed in relief as the captain opened the door. He took Anna and Elsa out with him. As soon as Elsa got out of the castle grounds she was able to breathe again. Turning to her sister she hugged her tightly.
"It's not over yet. My ship is docked in an alcove not too far. We are going to be walking but it won't take that long. Less than thirty minutes."
Anna and Elsa followed him as they made their way across the frozen fjords which Elsa had Used her magic to freeze the trip when into the mountains covered in trees. Which thankfully concealed them from anyone who would be wishing to stop them from leaving Arendelle. Nearly half an Hour later the trio arrived.
Elsa was out of breath and collapsed as soon as she reached the ship. The captain carried her into his quarters and set her down to rest, she fell asleep almost immediately. Anna stood by the captain as he began to raise the anchor and begin setting sail into the cold windy night.
"So where are we traveling to?" Anna questioned him.
"A Kingdom not too far only a three weeks journey." He responded. "I know a great deal of people there and I am positive once they hear of Prince Hans' treachery they will offer some aid to Arendelle."
"And if they don't?" Anna replied.
"If they don't we continue to another kingdom. Elsa won't be able to take back the throne unless we overthrow Hans."
"So what's this place called?" Anna asked.
"Everness, It's ruled by a newly-instated Queen. Elizabeth, she's younger than Elsa and even younger than you, only by a year. But she has already been dealing with so many issues. Even if she cannot offer her assistance she surely will know what to do."
Anna stood by him she saw the Twinkling lights of Arendelle as they pulled further and further away. The captain looked at Anna. "You should get some rest Princess."
Anna nodded and went to bed, quickly falling asleep. When the sunlight finally made its way into the windows. The Princess squinted and shielded her eyes from the penetrating light. She was relieved that they had gotten away. Elsa was safe from Hans now and she didn't have to worry about what horrible things he could be doing to Elsa anymore.
"Good morning Elsa." Anna said tiredly yawning and running her eyes harshly as she sat up in bed. Anna swung her feet over the edge and put on some shoes. Her pink cloak and headed outside. About ten minutes later she was greeted by a sleepy Elsa.
"Morning Anna." Elsa yawned hugging her sister. "We are finally safe from Hans. For a little while at least." Elsa smiled.
Hans woke early in the morning. "Get Elsa and bring her to me, I wish to see her." he told a guard in a demanding voice. The man nodded quickly and turned to leave the Kings Quarters quickly making his way to Elsa's room. When he got there and opened the door. He was utterly shocked to see that both the former Queen and Princess were gone. Terrified he returned to Hans.
"Your majesty... Elsa and Anna are both missing from their room. Nobody has claimed to have seen them in hours although a ship was spotted in Arendelle territory late at night. it sailed off into the north west."
"Find me the girls!" Hans ordered "When you do I want Anna punished severely and you are to force Elsa to watch. Understand?" Hans ordered.
"Yes of course I will see to it the girls are found and that the actions are carried out accordingly."
"Very well you're dismissed." The King gestured for him to leave.
The search continued for both Elsa and Anna for hours and soon hours turned into a few days. Hans was growing very frustrated. He gathered the soldiers and guards who were searching for the girls. "I've grown impatient now, I've given many warnings and if the Anna and Elsa have not come back to me by now I have some harsh options I would like to add." Hans paused a moment. "Elsa clearly has disobeyed me by escaping Arendelle castle and hiding out. You are to kill her sister right before her should you find them. Then you are to bring Elsa right to me." The ginger haired man smirked.
"How would you like us to carry out her death."
Hans twisted his face into a devilish smirk. "The most painful way you can think of Anna and Elsa both must suffer. Anna from her pain and Elsa from the agony she's going to be forced to watch her sister go through."
Elsa stood on the boat next to Anna one arm wrapped tightly around her sister. Anna's head was on Elsa's shoulder. Anna only raised her head when she heard footsteps behind her. "Hello darling" She heard Kristoffs voice call out and she jumped into him sobbing. "Oh I've missed you so much!" Anna cried. Elsa turned around and smiled.
"About time you've woken up." Elsa told him. Walking towards the man he hugged her lightly. "I've missed you too Elsa, I've heard you haven't been treated so kindly..." Kristoff looked to her with concern.
"No I have not been treated so nicely. But I'm doing alright now. I have Anna and I have you. Welcome Back Kristoff. Anna and I have missed you."
"I'm so glad I was finally able to return to Arendelle. I am so sorry for what you two have been through." Kristoff turned to Elsa. "Especially you. I don't know how you do it."
"I had to keep Anna safe at all costs. Everything I did was to keep my sister Alive." Elsa smiled clinging onto Anna the three of them smiled brightly. Anna had not seen Elsa so happy in a long time.
