Chapter 39
~ In This Together ~
Hans was growing restless he began sending ships of men out after the girls. Archer stood behind him as he faced the window looking out upon Arendelle.
"King Hans, do you really need Elsa and Anna? I am sure Arendelle will do just fine without them."
"Archer! You fool, Anna and Elsa are thought to be dead by the entire Kingdom! If we let them get away my plans will be ruined. If those girls left on that ship chances are they will return with help. Help for Elsa to overthrow me, and I can't have that happening. I want you to make sure Princess Anna ends up dead, no matter what happens Elsa will suffer for it."
"Of course your Majesty, I will see to it that both girls are found and brought back."
Anna and Elsa were out on the deck of the captains ship. Anna took Elsa up to the very front she could feel the wind against her face. The Princess drew in a deep breath of fresh air. "You're free Elsa" Anna whispered. "Everything will fall into place from here. Soon you will once again be the Queen of Arendelle."
Elsa smiled weakly, even though she slept well last night. Her sister close to we and far away from Hans she was still incredibly weak. Her poor sleeping and eating habits had caught up with her. Leaving her tired most all the time. Anna looked at her sister with a face, full of concern. "Elsa, I know you're worried about Arendelle. But we will be back soon." Anna hugged her sister tightly not letting go for the longest time. Elsa wrapped her arms around Anna in return.
"What if they don't trust me anymore? Anna? I sent them into eternal winter. I was cruel and Evil when you were missing I gave up Arendelle to Hans." Elsa breathed out sadly. "I don't know if the people of Arendelle will trust me anymore. I failed to protect them. I only did what was best for me. Not only that but I'm leaving them again now." Elsa paused. "Hans was right. Mother and Father would be so disappointed in me, I really don't deserve to be the Queen."
"Oh Elsa..." Anna was crying attempting to comfort her sister. "You reversed the winter, you apologized to Arendelle and you saved my life. You are truly incredible, don't ever doubt yourself. Hans is wrong Elsa, you deserve to be the Queen and mother and father would be so proud. You may have lost Arendelle for a while but now you're going to get it back. With me right by your side. We are in this together."
"Anna please don't cry." Elsa spoke in a saddened tone.
"You're doing it again, you're giving up on yourself." Anna paused. "Remember Elsa, remember I asked you if you could tell your past self one thing..."
"I know Anna, everything turns out in the end."
"You deserve to be Queen of Arendelle. You deserve that title, because you are willing to give it up to protect others. You protected me, you worked for that horrible man, so you could protect me. You may not have been Queen by documentation, but you were Arendelles acting Queen even under Hans' rule."
Hans was becoming incredibly stressed by the fact nobody was able to locate the two former Royals of Aredelle. "Archer! Please tell me you have at least some news for me."
"I am afraid not, still nothing about the girls."
The King stood up at his desk. "Keep looking send more ships out! Send more soldiers out! Find those girls at all costs. I want a ship sent to all the neighbouring kingdom's. Let them all know they are to execute Anna on the spot and bring Elsa back to me! Those two won't win. I won't let them take control of Arendelle again."
"There aren't many ships left, or many men. If Arendelle were to be attacked it would leave us with very low numbers and we would be completely unprepared."
The King glared at Archer for a moment before taking a large breath. "Archer, I need Elsa found there is no way I am going to let her ruin what I've worked for. I won't let her get away with any of this."
Kristoff soon came over to Elsa. "Anna's worried you know, Elsa she cares about you so much."
"I know Kristoff, I know she does but I feel so empty. So broken, I spent a lot of time being tormented and abused and manipulated. I just..." Elsa paused trying not to cry from remembering her time with Hans in Arendelle castle.
"Look, all of us the four of us. We are in this together. We will help you reclaim the throne and give that horrible man what he deserves." Kristoff hugged Elsa tightly. "I will protect you, Elsa. You and your sister are so important to me, nobody will hurt either of you." he whispered.
Elsa pulled away still sad, and Kristoff could see it as she was failing to conceal her tears. Anna had been speaking to the captain about their trip. They had only been out at sea for two days.
"We're docking in a nearby village in two more days. It's our first stop along the route." Anna explained noticing her teary eyes sister. "Oh Elsa what's wrong."
But the Queen just shook her head at a loss for words. Her throat was tensed up and it felt like a lump was forming in the back of it. So Kristoff explained everything to her. Repeating exactly what Elsa had confessed to him mere moments ago.
"I'm so sorry." Anna told her sister. "I can't believe how he must have made you feel. Elsa..." Anna breathed out the two girls now sitting in their rooms. Elsa was right beside Anna huddled closely together the Queen remained mostly silent as her sister whispered softly to her. "Please don't be afraid of Hans anymore. Kristoff is back, there's the captain and there's me. We are all going to fight for you, we're going to protect you and make sure nobody forces you to go through horrible things like that again." Anna assured.
"I just want to stay here and rest, so i can think about things for a while. Everything happened so fast, our escape didn't feel real and leaving Arendelle makes me worry."
"I know it does." Anna held Elsa tightly. "I'm right here for you we don't have to talk. But I'll stay right by your side."
The Queen and the Princess remained silent for hours until both girls fell asleep draped over each other. Kristoff found them and pulled a blanket over the two girls moving their feet so that they were resting on the bed.
"Hey Kristoff." the captain looked at him, coming into the rooms. "We're stopping for a while, I've set anchor we are quite concealed nobody should be able to find us. Now that we are away from Arendelle we can afford to stop for a while without the risk of getting caught."
