Chapter 41
~ Very Dark Thoughts ~
"Elsa, Elsa I'm right here see!" Anna assured her. "Hans hasn't done anything to me, I'm right here with you." The Princess hugged her sister tightly.
"Oh Anna, I was just... I didn't know what to do! I can't lose you! Everything I've done everything I've gone through I did It all for you."
Anna felt a deep sadness settle in. "If you had never let Hans do this to you. You wouldn't be having these nightmares..."
"Anna, I wouldn't have you, I need you. No matter what I will suffer through anything for you. You are my sister, you're the only family I've got and I love you." Elsa smiled. "I'm so afraid of losing you. I'm so scared that I might wake up one day and my nightmares will become reality and... and you'll be taken from me."
Anna, felt little relief even with Elsa's words, telling her none of this was her fault. The Princess just smiled and nodded at her sister. She had told Edith, she would do anything to end the suffering Hans put her through. Anna had thought that taking Elsa away from him would work. So the Queen could finally feel safe. Yet her plan was flawed and her older sister still had many lasting scars from what the cruel man had done to her. It had come to the point where her sister hardly slept and any dreams she had were gained with fear and misery.
"Elsa its not okay." Anna whispered. "You're not okay, just look at what has happened to you! You wake up screaming in fear because of Hans. I feel terrible because I can't do anything for you!" Anna exclaimed almost in tears the Princess embraced her older sister. Holding her tightly, just wishing all the pain could go away.
"Anna, please it's not your fault." Elsa assured.
"If it wasn't for me you would've frozen that sick man! If you didn't have to protect me!"
"I didn't have to protect you Anna. I wanted to protect you. Because I love you, I wouldn't want to live in a world without me beautiful sister at my side." The Queen sadly looked down her hands at her sides. "But I can't continue on like this. I'm afraid to go to sleep. I'm afraid of him, and what he's done to me is... Unspeakable." Elsa shook her head slowly. "I just don't know how to make it stop."
Hans had sent multiple ships out in search of the girls. He had ordered them to execute the Queens sister and bring Elsa back to him alive.
"King Hans, one of the scouts has spotted an Arendelle ship not too far. It's a few days sailing journey, they plan to follow it and overthrow them at their next stop."
The king nodded slowly. "Very well." Hans nodded leaning back in his chair. "I shall have Elsa back here In less than a week, and teach her a lesson on what her disobedient behavior will cause." he smirked to himself breathing softly.
"Make sure she suffers, make sure that she watches Anna die. Ensure that he knows her sisters death is get fault. I want her weak when he comes to me. I want her beaten down and vulnerable! Her eyes red and swollen and face stained with tears." he screamed loudly. "Ensure the Queen sufferers for her actions."
"Our first stop is not far now ladies. We should be there before sunset." The Captain told them as he walked into the room he found Anna comforting a distressed Elsa. "Let me know if there's anything I can do for you two."
As the captain neared the door that lead back to the outside deck. Kristoff yelled at him. "Captain, there's a ship from Arendelle following us. Flying the flag from the southern isles as well."
"What! No!" Anna shook her head.
Elsa stood right beside her and as Anna looked over she saw that he sister was clearly afraid. "Anna Hans is going to get me again, and all those dreams... Those terrible terrible nightmares are going to be real. They're going to be real just like I feared and you're going to be taken from me Anna. They're going to take you from me." Elsa cried.
Kristoff dropped the telescope he was holding and walked over to Elsa. "I promised you. That I was going to protect you, and I will. All of us, we are going to ensure that you don't end up with him ever again." Kristoff put his hands on her shoulders. "Look at me Elsa." he paused. "I promise, nobody deserves to be treated like that. Nobody deserves what he does to you, and you are never going to be treated like that again. Anna and I we are your family. We care about you deeply. You're not going to lose us... You're going to be just fine and soon enough you'll be back in Arendelle as the rightful Queen."
Elsa stared up at Kristoff and nodded. "Thank you." she said softly. Looking out at the never-ending waters; the ship just a short distance away. "I could freeze it... Freeze it In place." Elsa suggested "They wouldn't be able to move, they wouldn't be able to get to us. But I could end up freezing the entire body of water. I'll freeze our ship too, we won't be able to escape, they'll catch us. When they do, they'd kill Anna. Hans said if I disobeyed him they would kill Anna."
"Elsa, you can do it, nobody will hurt me or you or any of us." Anna assured. "Do it, and If they come on board so what? Freeze them too."
The Queen turned back to Anna and sighed deeply. She closed her eyes a few moments.
"I... I'll do it, I'll try but if it doesn't work be prepared." she turned to Kristoff. "Hans needs me, he won't kill me. But he will kill Anna, so you have to forget about protecting me and protect her." Elsa instructed breathing deeply she spoke in a nervous tone shaking ever so slightly. "You have to promise Kristoff, don't even think about fighting for me. I'll be fine, I will live."
"I... I... Er Elsa I don't know." Kristoff mumbled.
"Enemy ship is getting closer!" the captain yelled. "Elsa if you're going to do something you need to do it now!" he screamed.
"Promise me Kristoff, protect my sister! Forget about me, if anything happens get Anna out of here!" Elsa yelled in a panicked tone.
"Okay! Okay Elsa anything happens I'll get her out."
"Elsa! You have to do this now!" The captain looked at her with an anxious glance.
Elsa stepped closer to the side of the ship. Nearly close enough that if she were to stumble and lose her footing she would fall into the dangerous depths of the freezing cold ocean. "Okay." she breathed out in a soft whisper, mumbling to herself. Quiet enough so that none of the others could hear. Closing her eyes she moved her hands in front of her body directly aimed at the water below the ship and she concentrating on the enemy ship becoming frozen and unable to move.
She waited a few moments before opening her eyes to see if she had been successful. Breathing in deeply her eyes still closed her clenched her hands into tiny fists and slowly opened her eyes.
