a/n: just a heads up, we're going back in time yup, its back to Edward and Bella pre-children and pre-adult dating. This is a couple of weeks after Edward dropped Bella of home after the house party. Enjoy!
I slept amazingly well. Which was a surprise, considering once reality hit, I remembered that Jake had cheated on me. I sighed, and rolled over in bed. I really hoped that Charlie would let me stay home. I really didn't want to go to school and have to face him. I was embarrassed enough, and was pretty sure that Jake would be flaunting that girl in front of everyone. I did not want to witness that.
There was a light knock on the door.
"Bells? You awake?"
I ignored him. He usually left me alone, but of course he chose this day, out of all of them, to become the pushy father figure.
"Bella? You all right? Can I come in?"
"Yeah dad."
He poked his head around the door.
"You going to school?"
"Can I take a day off? I'm not feeling that great?"
Since I wasn't really one to lie, he believed me. He told me to look after myself, and that he'll be back on his break to check on me. I nodded, and tucked myself back under the covers.
Once I heard him pull away from the driveway, I got out of bad, watched a trashy movie and made myself breakfast. Once I made myself comfortable on the couch, surrounded by a mountain of pillows, I started eating breakfast, which consisted of the most sugary cereal that I convinced Charlie to buy. The breakfast of champions.
X-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
I must have fallen asleep on the couch, because the next thing I knew, loud banging on the door woke me up. Still half asleep, and forgetting everything about safety that Charlie spend a good portion of my life teaching me, I opened the door. And was extremely surprised to find Edward standing there.
"Hi."
"Hey. What are you doing here?"
"Alice sent me. She had a study group, otherwise she would be here."
"And why are you here?"
"Because I can't seem to stay away…." He seemed to mumble to himself.
"What was that?"
He shook his head.
"Nothing. Alice wanted to know if you were okay. She was worried about you. She says that you never miss school."
I shrugged.
"I'm not feeling that great."
He smirked.
"You look fine to me."
I blushed. Pay me the smallest complement, and I always blush. I hated it about myself, but most people found it endearing.
"Admit it. You skipped school cause of that guy."
"Did not!" I don't know why I was being so defensive.
He took one step closer to me, effectively rubbing up against me.
"You did, didn't you? Its okay, you can tell me….." He whispered into my ear. My legs were turning into jelly. I was scared that I was going to topple over, except….wait, was that his arm around my waist?!
"Uhhhhh…" was my witty response.
"Come on, you can tell me."
"Ummmm…" Geez, I should probably say something before he thinks that I'm some soft of brain dead groupie.
"Bella?"
"Yeah?"
"You okay?"
I looked up into his eyes and promptly burst into tears. Good job Swan. Now he probably really thinks that you're mentally unstable. But, surprisingly, he just hugged me, letting my tears stain his jacket.
"It's okay." He said, rubbing soothing circles on my back. He walked us to the couch and sat down, pulling me in his lap.
I don't know how long we stayed there, but eventually his phone rang, interrupting our little moment. He reached over to look at who was calling and sighed.
"I have to go."
"Yeah. Okay. Well, thanks for checking up on me."
"More like Alice forced me. I think she believes that we'll end up together or something."
Ouch. Okay, so clearly he isn't as infatuated with me as I am with him. He put his finger and lifted my face up to his. I held by breath. This was it right? This was the moment he was going to kiss me. It said so in every cheesy romance movie and novel I ever read. But his phone went off once again. He put his forehead to mine and sighed.
"I really do have to go."
"Okay, I'll walk you out." We stood up and walked to the door, where I waited while he put his shoes on.
"Well thanks for coming. I really appreciate it."
He looked at me. And them practically pushed me against the wall. The last word out of his mouth was 'screw it' before he stared kissing me. Hard.
It was different to what I had experienced with Jake. While Jake seemed unsure and inexperienced, Edwards's kisses left me weak and needing more. It was just getting good when he pulled away.
"Damn." Was his only response, before he walked back to his car and drove off.
WHAT. THE. HELL?!
