Arc 1; Part 1 - Growing up Elektra: Ch 3 - Oh Styx
Jason groaned and ran his hands through his hair. His favorite tie was missing and it was really important that he found it. Of course his demigod luck kicked in today! The worse thing was that there was very little furniture in the Zeus cabin so there weren't many places that it could have been in.
He spotted a suspicious shadow behind the giant Zeus statue. Slowly he tiptoed towards it. What he saw confirmed his suspicions. His little sister was hiding behind the statue with his favorite tie wrapped around her neck. Jason tried not to laugh at the way it dragged along the ground under her. He cleared his throat and Elektra whirled around.
"Elektra. Why do you have my tie?"
To his surprise, she began to giggle. Before he could react, she shot up into the air. Groaning audibly Jason shot up after her. Even though Jason had more experience controlling the winds, Elektra was faster. He blamed the fact that he was deliberately controlling the winds whereas she was just flying wherever the current would take her. After all, the winds did not like being controlled. Determined, he pushed forward to pin her to the wall. Unfortunately, he crashed into the wall like that cat from the Tom and Jerry cartoons that Leo had made them all watch with Calypso.
Jason fell towards the ground but managed to catch himself before he crashed. Gods, with the number of times I've hit my head it's a miracle that my brain still works, he mused. He felt a small gust of air above him. He craned his head up to see Elektra hovering above him. She slipped the tie off of her neck and clumsily slid it around Jason.
He smiled at her sweetly before a sly grin crossed his face. In a swift movement he grabbed her by the ankles and held her tightly to his chest.
"Mmm. No leg'go!"
"Nope, no way. You aren't supposed to be in her missy. Just wait until Mr.D gets a hold of you. How many times has he told you not to go running off."
Elektra rolled her eyes in the exaggerated fashion that only little children can pull off. Watching her dramatics, he was reminded of Thalia. Theatrics must run in the family, he thought. He pushed his way through the back door. Even though the camp was starting to get used to the flying baby, there was no reason for him to blunder through camp with a squirming toddler. Apart from Mr. D and Chiron, he was the only one who knew that Elektra was his sister. Somehow the two of them had convinced him not to tell Piper yet. Something about immortals and not wanting to get another 100 years with the brats. Jason learned not to question the camp director. He still had nightmares from the Diet Pepsi/Diet Coke incident.
Soon he managed to get Elektra into the Big House. As soon as he put her down she turned around and stuck her tongue out at him. Like the mature 20 year old he was, he stuck his tongue out back at her.
"Jack Grayson. What are you doing?"
Jason whipped his head up to see a slightly amused, slightly angry Mr. D. Cheeks burning her stammered.
"Um...that is….I….I found Elektra in the Zeus cabin, again."
Mr. D turned to look at Elektra who was trying to put on her best innocent face. When she realized it didn't work, she crossed her arms. Imitating the Aphrodite campers, she spun around and stomped into the room that had been set up for her. Jason couldn't help but admire her courage. Then again, she was a goddess.
Mr. D shook his head then rubbed his forehead.
" 11 more years and then I won't have to deal with her. I honestly can't tell if she's more like Zeus or like Hera."
Jason tried to hold back a smile. He knew that for all his grumbling, Mr. D did care for the little girl. Or at the very least, he was scared of Zeus and didn't want to get in trouble for not keeping their sister safe. Oh right, Mr. D is my brother. Now that's something that I'd gladly forget.
Jason shuddered and decided to leave before he started thinking of more disturbing godly relationships.
Unfortunately, the rest of the day did not go any better. Just as he was leaving the pavillion after lunch, he felt himself being pressed up against a cabin wall. The tip of a spear was held to his neck. Swallowing slightly, he tilted his neck.
He felt Clarisse's arm pushing him backwards. A group of Ares's campers had gathered around them.
"Did you seriously think you could get away with messing with me punk? You hit 20 and suddenly you're Mr. Hot-Shot? Well, now you're going to get what's coming to you, Ares style."
Jason frowned. Fingers slowly inching towards his pocket, he opened his mouth.
"I don't know what you are talking about Clarisse. I didn't do anything to you"
Clarisse laughed, a sound that was more like a bark.
"Sure, and Luke was innocent. Just cough it up and I'll go easy on you"
"I'm telling you Clarisse, I didn't do anything. I don't even know what you are looking for."
Clarisse pushed her arm further, spear almost cutting Jason's flesh. Jason had managed to slide his hand into his pocket and was just waiting for the perfect time to strike.
"Don't act so innocent. I know you took Maimer."
Shing!
Jason pulled his sword out with a swift movement. He had the element of surprise for one second as he pushed Clarisse back. He maneuvered the two of them towards the center of the camp. Belatedly the other Ares campers jumped in to fight, but they were held off by some of the other campers.
Slowly a crowd began to form around the two fighting demigods. Neither looked tired even though they used their best moves. Slowly Jason pressed in until he had his sword to her chest. In a single swipe, he sent Clarisse's spear clanging across the area. He pushed his sword to her neck like she had and leaned in to whisper.
"Get one thing straight Clarisse, I didn't take your electric spear. Just because I'm the only one immune to it doesn't mean that I'm the prime suspect. Got it?"
With that, he removed his sword from her neck and walked off. Tossing it in the air, he grabbed the coin as it came down. While he had lost the original IVLIS, Leo had made a replica of it for him when none of the swords in the weapon shed seemed to fit him.
As he passed the Demeter cabin, he suddenly smelled something burning. He knew it couldn't have come from the cabin itself as it would have caught on fire. Sniffing again, he realized that the particular smell came from a limited number of sources: himself, the Zeus cabin, Elektra and…..Maimer!
Jason jogged over to the Demeter cabin. What he found made him groan again.
Elektra sat on the ground, grass singed in a circle around her. Maimer lay across her lap, buzzing with energy. The little girl hummed to herself as she ran her fingers across the spear. She picked it up and turned it around, examining it from every angle. Then, without warning, she shoved the tip into her mouth.
"No!"
Jason stumbled forward to stop her, but it was too late. He tripped over himself and fell face first in front of her. He looked up, expecting the worse, but saw that Elektra was fine. She was currently trying to gnaw on Maimer. Unsatisfied with the taste, she flung it away from her.
This time Jason was able to catch it before it lit the Demeter cabin from catching on fire. Unfortunately his dive caught the attention of Katie Gardener. She came out the back door with a confused expression on her face.
"Jason? What are you doing?"
Jason smiled sheepishly. He held up Maimer.
"Um, Clarisse's spear went missing. I was just about to return it to her."
Katie nodded and then looked behind his shoulder. She looked at Jason again.
"Wait, is that Elektra, that strange kid who lives in the Big House? What is she doing here?"
Jason shuffled to the side, trying to block Katie's view.
"Heh heh, what are you talking about? Elektra's not here."
Jason prayed to his father that Elektra had flown off somewhere. He wouldn't put it past her, she usually disappeared from places when she got bored enough. The terrible two's were an understatement when it came to her. He saw Katie strain her neck to look again.
"Oh, I guess you're right. I must have been imagining things. Oh well, you should probably get Maimer back to Clarisse before she gets angrier."
Jason nodded and then ran back to the central area. He saw Clarisse still there looking quite angry. Jason went up to her.
"Here, I found your spear for you. I told you I didn't take it. I hope you're happy."
Jason decided to leave before she decided to start asking where he found it. Breathing a sigh of relief, he walked away. He reached the entrance to the Zeus cabin. Hopefully the rest of the day would be better.
"IS THERE DROOL ON MY SPEAR? GRACE!"
Oh Styx!
So there you have it, readers. Although we did leave Jason in bit of a trouble with Clarisse, I'm sure he'll be fine. Hopefully. Until next time, may the lucky of Tyche be with you. Farewell!
