Shoot.

Dodge.

Run.

Shoot.

Dodge.

Run.

It wasn't that hard really, it becomes a subconscious state of mind after some time, and as a not-so-cared-for vehicon, you really do become used to it. It's practically a daily routine.

Though of course, this repeated limbo of 'shoot, doge and run' tends to go out of bounds when you get shot or hit. Or maybe if you are immediately forced to face servo-to-servo combat with the enemy.

Or if you fall flat on your face plate. Like me.

It's a... 'somewhat' rare occasion, but I have my moments where I trip and fall in the middle of combat, and Primus, do I feel like such a careless dolt when I do...

It's generally during combat or some kind of an emergency situation that I fall stupidly because I become very frisky and skittish during those times, like most would. Hence, my overwhelming nerves causing me to lose my focus and concentration, therefore:

Boom!

My mask is buried in the unpleasant dirt of this primitive planet, or in whatever grounding that was once beneath my pedes anyway.

I am clearly not the most skilled or most powerful vehicon within the Decepticon army, but I very well know that I'm much better than the average mindless drone. My emotional state serves as both an advantage and disadvantage.

Besides, when I fall during combat then the Autobots suddenly think that I've been shot or hit; so they immediately ignore me, being supposedly dead, and keep their attention locked on those who are still alive.

It's a very risky gamble, but every time I do end up falling, I tend to stay where I am to keep the illusion that I'm dead alive; and I've never gotten into any form of trouble for it so I've actually become quite accustomed to this happening.

It sure keeps my aft safe from harm, that's for sure!

So right now, that is exactly what is happening. My mask is planted onto the floor as I grip my helm tightly in fear, preventing myself from trembling as the chaos ensues around me.

Instead of getting up off the ground, I simply stay where I am, remaining as still as I possibly can. Though the loud sounds of extravagant gunshots and abundant explosions frighten me to a fairly massive extent, it's quite difficult to remain completely still.

The Autobots have just commenced an oddly powerful assault on Darkmount; the extremely large Decepticon fortress that was now standing frighteningly tall in the dry desert of Jasper, Nevada.

Darkmount was where I currently was, I was actually just making my way to Commander Shockwave's lab where the predacons remained from there before the Decepticons were suddenly attacked.

The entire situation petrified me senseless, as it tends to, but myself and many other vehicons immediately went into action and searched for the threat; soon running into the Autobot known as Ultra Magnus.

I soon dictated that he must be the newly established Autobot leader, considering it was declared recently that Optimus Prime was, in fact, dead.

It was quite a shock to me, I won't lie, but then again; I hardly know the Autobots so I find it quite hard to care. Once I was told of it I simply brushed it off of my mind after five kiliks or so.

Once Ultra Magnus came into view, the shooting and attacking began almost immediately, and obviously the blue and white Autobot put up a very challenging fight, having taken out all of the vehicons around me with a few powerful blows of his cannon.

Luckily for me though, I had already fallen to the ground by then, so as expected he thought I was offlined. I simply remained where I was and listened to my surroundings, cringing at the sound of each roar and scream of each vehicon as they were instantly killed.

Once the Autobot commander swiftly left the area I was in without so much as uttering a word, I steadily lifted my helm with a low and dimmed visor, tightening my servos' grip on my helm as I gaped at the now dead vehicons around me that were sprawled on random places of the cold floor.

Oh no; I am never joining the Autobots, that's for sure.

My vehicon comrades were black and burnt from gun shots and bright, blue energon spewed from where the gun plasma had hit them, their visors completely black. A very unpleasant sight.

It made it all the more worse that considering they had my exact frame build and colour scheme, it was though I was looking at myself.

I was used to seeing this though, unfortunately, but it never failed to upset me quite extensively. Even though they were just mindless drones, I still considered them apart of me, almost like brothers. It makes sense, doesn't it?

They look like me, sound like me, and even in some cases; act like me, but that's a rarity. Though I suppose that's just my ridiculous emotional side talking there, these vehicons simply do what they have to do, even if dying was a factor of doing it.

I am nothing like them.

With a few short moments gone by I decided to stand up off of the cold floor, feeling that it was safe to do so, but I was obviously wrong.

Before I even stood up properly on my shaky pedes, I suddenly began stumbling as the entire building shook quite dramatically.

I gazed around my surroundings in complete confusion, my optics were entirely out of focus because everything was just shaking and fuzzy; before I was finally reduced to falling back against the wall.

By Primus, what were the Autobots doing to this place?! I need to leave!

I immediately acted on that impulsion and readied my cannon, pushing myself off of the wall with a deep groan before soon making my way down to the lower levels of Darkmount so that I could find my way out.

I simply pray to Primus that Commander Shockwave is okay, he must have been in the Nemesis or in his lab in the cave when all of this happened.

I just really hope that nothing harmful has happened to him and that he is safe from any kind of danger; I can't even bear the thought of anything bad happening to him. I would sooner die.

I believe that going to his lab in the cave would be the best course of action right now, it was where I was supposed to go in the first place and perhaps Commander Shockwave is there; safe and sound.

Oh, I just hope he is!

With my plan of action now sorted out, I managed to quicken my movements of leaving this death zone, trying my best not to fall over or even stumble as I struggled against the shaking and trembling of Darkmount.

I may be used to severe combat and whatnot, but this situation was like no other; where did this sudden rush of fire power come from? Last I checked, Optimus was dead and the remaining Autobots were scattered around random parts of this planet!

"W-Woa-oof!" My thoughts were immediately pushed aside as I fell once again, hissing harshly at the hard impact of the metal floor against my frame. The shaking was deteriorating now, and from what I could tell, this whole entire building was going to collapse.

I gasped loudly as my assumption began to come true; the extremely loud sound of metal banging and creaking was now echoing throughout the entirety of Darkmount, a gradual build up of metal falling becoming louder and louder, deafening almost.

Okay David. Leave. Now.

I practically hopped off of the floor, ignoring the slight pain I felt and began literally sprinting for my life, skillfully turning from hallway to hallway; taking elevator by elevator, all the while pushing the button for said elevator to go faster.

That didn't really work.

Once I arrived at ground level, the building's trembling worsening intensely at this point, I bundled up every ounce of energy I had and made a swift escape to the exit, not allowing the terrifying sounds of Darkmount to prevent me from doing so.

And of course, due to how incredibly fast I was going it wasn't too long before I was outside of Darkmount, a cool and gratifying breeze flowing over me as I came into contact with the earthly air.

Although I was outside of the collapsing Darkmount, my rapid running didn't stop there, I kept going until I was a fair distance away from the building, now preparing to transform and make a clean escape from the wake of dust and smoke that I know will soon follow once Darkmount falls.

But a glimpse of an immensely bright green and dark purple caught my optic.

"Commander Shockwave!"

I cried loudly towards my commander, who was just making his way into a groundbridge, hoping that he would hear me.

The purple mech steadily stopped his movements and turned in my direction, clearly showing that he did indeed hear me, before his crimson optic brightened quite eminently once he saw me heading towards him.

It was then I noticed two or three Autobots exit the area through a groundbridge, obviously going back to their base, as I approached Commander Shockwave further. Was Commander Shockwave fighting them? Oh; he better not be injured, I'll personally hunt those Autobots down myself!

Though from what I could see, Commander Shockwave seemed fine, but I still think a thorough examination is in order...

Commander Shockwave didn't say anything at first as I soon arrived at the portal next to him, clearly waiting for me to clarify that it was me; David, and not just some random vehicon troop.

"Are you alright, sir?" And there's the clarification.

"David..?" He questioned with raised antennae, soon receiving a gleeful nod from me as I smiled brightly behind my mask, holding back an urge to hug him tightly just because I knew he was safe.

Or maybe because I just wanted to; it was Commander Shockwave, after all.

"The one and only, sir!" I chirped a little too happily with a bright visor. No matter what the situation was, the mere sight of Commander Shockwave always left an amazing feeling within my spark.

The world could be ending and I would still be happy so long as I was in his spectacular presence.

"Indeed, you are quite fortunate to have arrived here on time, or you would have been left within the unmerciful blast of Darkmount's plummet." He said with an oddly warning yet impressed tone, earning a slight chuckle from me in return.

"Well, I'm pretty good at running for my life, you see." I replied contentedly before focusing my attention on observing his entire frame, not feeling in any sense hesitant to lean forward and lift up his arm to check for any damages.

But of course, my face plates were warm as I touched him, no, by simply being near him! Of course I was checking him out while doing this.

"David..."

"You're not hurt, are you sir?" I muttered as I continued searching his frame, ignoring the slight annoyance lingering within his voice, though it wasn't too long before Commander Shockwave gently pushed me away with a shake of his helm at my question.

"I am not. There is no need for any examination, I am fine." He spoke blankly as our gazes were suddenly forced to look from each other to Darkmount, massive and roaring explosions suddenly enveloping the entire fortress as it began to finally collapse on itself.

"Leaving the area, I deem, would be a most logical course of action." My commander stated, his voice was raised due to the forcefulness of noise, but I heard him clearly and soon agreed with a firm nod of my helm.

Commander Shockwave swiftly entered the lightly lit groundbridge first, and it wasn't long before I went in after him, taking one last glance at Darkmount as I shivered at the thought of still being in there while it plunged to the ground.

Once we were both inside of the groundbridge, I moved and stayed directly behind my scientific commander as we now slowed our movements while walking through it, my slightly widened optics greatly admiring how pristine Commander Shockwave's armour looked as the light from the surrounding portal reflected off of it.

He really was too beautiful for words.

I held back a loving purr as both Commander Shockwave and I finally exited the bright colours of the groundbridge, feeling more than happy to know that he, out of everyone, was okay after this incident.

It was a dire shame that the Decepticons lost Darkmount the day we actually got it, I know Commander Shockwave would be very disappointed with the turn out of things.

It was such an advantage we had and now it was gone, I simply hope Megatron doesn't blow a gasket, though the chances of that not happening are too slim to describe.

It simply makes me wonder how the Autobots managed to do this, they had certainly won this battle, that's for sure. And why was Commander Shockwave fighting Autobots alone outside of Darkmount?

Where was the predacon?

All of these questions jumbled wildly in my perplexed mind as the groundbridge closed behind both Commander Shockwave and I, and it was then I noticed we were in the main control room. But it was empty.

As it would be, everyone was obviously still out on the battle field, even the officers; though I'm sure Knockout is in the medical bay attending to repairs, I knew he was safe because he was on the Nemesis. That relieved me a whole lot more, he and Commander Shockwave are the only ones who I care about in my life.

"What is Lord Megatron's current location, Soundwave?"

I abruptly stiffened at Commander Shockwave's sudden words, slowly looking up to him with fearful optics as he held his gaze in another direction, it was then I deterred my gaze in that direction too; and there he was.

Soundwave. Facing both Commander Shockwave and I as he stood by the navigation's system, and my spark sank in mortification as I began to leisurely move behind Commander Shockwave in terror, mentally cursing myself for I had whimpered a little.

Of course I didn't notice the communications officer when we had both entered the main control room! He's the most silent of us all and his paint job is in sync with this ship!

Though Soundwave being here should have been an obvious piece of knowledge to me, he controls the entire spacebridge and groundbridge units and he hardly ever leaves this warship. Foolish David is foolish.

Clearly the explosions from Darkmount were messing with all of the Decepticon frequencies, so using our typical scanners to locate anyone was currently impossible. The only frequency strong enough to stay online was, obviously, the one of the warship. Just splendid.

If that wasn't the case then Commander Shockwave and I could just leave now, but no, once I received a bit of good luck, a whole load bad luck followed in closely behind it.

But by the Allspark, it still baffles me that Commander Shockwave can simply brush off the fact that Soundwave is fragging obsessed with him. Even as I stare at Commander Shockwave now he is not wavered by this fact at all, clearly keeping his attention focused on what is important.

Or maybe that's because he simply doesn't know the extent of Soundwave's 'obsession'. He hasn't saw what I have saw, he has not experienced the pain I felt as Soundwave aggressively and ruthlessly hurt me just so I could stay away from him.

It's the lack of capacity to hold emotions that keeps Commander Shockwave so clueless, and I'm sure Soundwave is loving that fact.

Both Commander Shockwave and I watched closely as Soundwave slowly lifted his arm to point a spindly digit up to the monitor screen behind him, whatever it was he was pointing to was the answer to Commander Shockwave's question.

I frowned behind my mask in disapproval, my optic ridges raised high as Commander Shockwave began to walk towards Soundwave, and I was really torn between either following him or not.

I was choosing between being happily near the one I adore but unhappily being near the one I despise, or happily being away from the one I despise but being unhappily away from the one I adore.

It was a tough yet quick decision, but as always, my love overcame anything; so I swiftly followed Commander Shockwave as he soon arrived at the navigation's system and scanners, standing behind him as Soundwave steadily stood aside to allow Commander Shockwave to observe the screen before him.

"...Lord Megatron has just managed to escape Darkmount and its expiry, he should arrive back at the warship in due to time. Only then shall we discuss our next plan, loosing the fortress of Darkmount is not just a dismay, but a pitiful loss; considering the Autobots current state. We have made a most grave underestimation."

Commander Shockwave concluded from his observations, and though I was very curious, I refrained from leaning forward to look at the monitor screen, not even wanting to look at Soundwave as I kept my frightened gaze in a completely different direction.

I'm surprised that I wasn't even shaking like crazy right now, but I'm pretty sure that it's the fact that Commander Shockwave was with me, with him around it's quite hard to feel so afraid, and I know that with him nearby, Soundwave would not try anything offensive.

And hey, guess what? I am so wrong.

The loud click and sudden release of air of the main control room's doors and exits locking caused both Commander Shockwave and I to gape around ourselves in confusion, before we turned to Soundwave to see that he had used one of his long cable appendages to do this.

Commander Shockwave and I were in total lockdown.

I lowered my shoulders with a quiet gasp and backed away a little, still remaining behind Commander Shockwave as he stared at Soundwave with his fins and antennae raised high. I could sense annoyance from his EM field, and I knew right then that this was going to get very, very ugly.

"Soundwave; what is the meaning of this?" Commander Shockwave ordered to know with a commanding tone, taking a firm step forward as Soundwave relinquished his tentacle-like cable from the main computer of which he used to lock the doors, retracting it back into his chest plating.

" 'Meaning of this.' " Soundwave replayed a part of Commander Shockwave's question through his speakers, though he turned it into a statement rather than a question.

"Obvious." Soundwave then used his real voice to speak this time, and as usual, it never failed to send a terrifying shiver throughout my entire frame and systems.

Commander Shockwave's thin antennae lowered slightly as I tapped my sharp digits together anxiously, having remained quiet the entire time as two of the most powerful Decepticons engaged in a debate.

'Fight' simply doesn't suit two intelligent mechs like these two, they're both reasonable and mature; though Soundwave wasn't particularly demonstrating those traits right now.

"...We have discussed this once before, Soundwave. There is no logical reason to go through with it again." Commander Shockwave said solemnly, clearly not in the mood for Soundwave's 'illogical' antics.

My trembling finally let loose as Soundwave chuckled darkly, his voice ringing deeply within my audio receptors as its raspy echo practically scraped through the air.

"Soundwave: will not stop. Pursuit of Shockwave: endless."

My thoughts suddenly drifted back to the time that Knockout and I were spying on Soundwave's and Commander Shockwave's little discussion in the surveillance room, having recalled his declaration of this situation being "Not over..." once Commander Shockwave left the room.

And clearly, he meant this statement as literal, as I had expected; and I honestly don't know what's going to happen now, but I am prepared to defend Commander Shockwave; my damned fears can get fragged, and so can Soundwave.

I'm a horrible, horrible person. I know; this is such a terrible cliffhanger, I am so sorry. But still, it just makes this all the more interesting!~ Well, I sure hope it does.

'taking elevator by elevator, all the while pushing the button for said elevator to go faster.' - My personal favourite part of this chapter, I'm just imagining David doing this, haha.

I am so appreciative of all your reviews guys, you really have no idea. I simply don't reply to prevent spam and a possibility of me telling you of what might happen next. David is a part of me, so of course I might end up doing that, haha.~
