-Author's Notes-

Finally, hello once again guys! Chapter sixteen is, at last, here! And now, I have acquired and new one so this fanfiction shall be updated as it once was!~ Though this chapter is shorter than most, the rest will not be as such, it's simply shorter because I wanted to prove to you all that this story is still continuing and not abandoned.

Well. This certainly was terrifying.

I honestly never imagined that I'd find myself in such a dire situation, and yet here I am. Standing beside, or more so behind, the one of whom I desperately love while steadily preparing to ultimately lash out at he who dares to stand in the way of my profuse love for my beloved commander.

Soundwave really had some loose nerve to do what he is currently doing, and despite the fact that I am most certainly petrified, that will not stop me from stepping in and defending Commander Shockwave; if even to protect him for a mere moment.

"Your pursuit may be endless, but by all means it is folly. I respect you highly, Soundwave; yourself and I are productive acquaintances of whom fight for a worthy cause, but I'm afraid it goes no further than that."

Blinking, I took a nervous glance up at Commander Shockwave as he calmly spoke to Soundwave, feeling very pleased by his direct but reasonable words. Though of course, I did my best not to show that his words had pleased me, but I had still smiled gleefully behind my mask for a second or two already.

Though, the last thing I need to do is make a complete fool of myself.

I then brought my anxious gaze back to the ever-silent Soundwave just as soon as I had deterred it away from him, and I almost flinched when I saw him shakily clench both of his servos; his long, spindly digits were noticeably trembling.

It was clear that the slender mech really wasn't as pleased as I was with Commander Shockwave's words, I simply hope unnecessary conflict does not arise from all of this.

I will do all that I possibly can to protect Commander Shockwave, whatever it takes, but who am I but a mere soldier compared to Soundwave? It is not as though I could do much, but my absolute best.

Also, Commander Shockwave just said that Megatron will be returning to the warship soon and if he sees his two best and most favoured soldiers fighting over a relationship issue, then it's most likely that it will be my head of which will be the one that is lost.

But- I won't let that happen! Whether Conflict ensues or not, I'll live for as long as I need to in order to defend Commander Shockwave and keep him safe. I won't leave him here stuck with Soundwave, I'll guard him with my life!

With this random yet large amount of (pathetically illogical) courage bundling up inside of my revving systems, I mindlessly decided to take a brave step forward, causing me to now be in front of Commander Shockwave; who had now gazed down at me in a dumbfounded manner.

Soundwave also shifted his blank visor to seemingly look at me, but he did nothing, said nothing, simply nothing. And it wasn't long before he slowly brought his unreadable stare back to its place to watch Commander Shockwave yet again.

I frustratingly gritted my denta together slightly, allowing a protective but low growl to escape my vocalizer as my visor blazed in Soundwave's direction. I'm not going to be afraid, I don't care how powerful Soundwave is, I'll stand by my commander until the very end.

"Cute." Soundwave played via one of his unfamiliar recordings, then he used his real voice to chuckle coldly at my actions. He clearly wasn't intimidated by me, if anything, I was amusing him.

I almost blew a fuse that very second, but Commander Shockwave had suddenly rested his delicate servo on my shoulder plate by then, which instantly caused me to calm down with a low sigh.

Commander Shockwave certainly held a massive effect on me, one moment he has me completely hyped to be being completely drained; it varied, depending on my mood and what exactly was happening.

"Be still, David, do not allow him to provoke you." The scientist more so suggested rather than ordered, which I found to be quite strange as I shared a silent stare with Commander Shockwave, soon nodding up at him with my turned helm before averting my gaze back to Soundwave once more.

"Right..." I whispered, venting inward deeply, relinquishing my mind of any negative thoughts, or as much as I could, at least.

The silent mech was shaking his helm as Commander Shockwave said this, not seeming to be amused anymore. Hm, it would seem that even Commander Shockwave merely touching me ticked him off.

It was no wonder he attacked me in the surveillance room after my and Commander Shockwave's innocent but very close interaction, and he still seems to be gunning for that goal of getting rid of me.

Wonderful.

Though, all of this really has me surprised, I never would have thought that Commander Shockwave would be willing to take my side in a situation. Particularly against Soundwave; one who he considers respectable and noble. Or so he once considered. It just goes to show how easily the tables can be turned by one subtle thing.

But, for me? That's what has me truly curious.

Was I really the logical choice? Does Commander Shockwave look at me and feel nothing but certainty? Nothing but a definite choice, no doubts, no worries? Actually, now that I think about it, it's quite hard to believe that I am the logical choice... because in all that is rational and logical; I'm not.

Then, what if it's nothing to do with logic? It mustn't relate to any validation of rationality if Commander Shockwave is opposing against Soundwave here! I may be his very helpful assistant, and I may have been helping him with his curiosity for emotions, but I'm hardly anything as amazing as Soundwave.

I may not like the mech anymore, but credits where it's due. Soundwave is extremely intelligent and one brutal Decepticon, he is powerful, loyal and the kind of mech that Commander Shockwave would and has gotten along with really well with until this very moment.

Who am I compared to him? If Commander Shockwave were to logically choose a mate, or even someone to help him with his learning of emotions, shouldn't it be him? Should he not have chosen Soundwave?

What if Commander Shockwave's perspective on this entire 'emotion' situation isn't just out of curiosity or a desire to learn anymore? Could it be something more? Could it be that... Commander Shockwave, maybe...

It was just then that Soundwave instantly lashed out two of his tentacles with a sudden offensive stance and lowly growl, and of course, the long and swift tendrils were rushing in my direction; most likely preparing to strangle me to death...

They were so fast that my widened optics could barely focus onto their swift movements, so I didn't manage to move out of the way in time.

Not that I needed to.

With a shocked whelp I flinched and stumbled backwards on my heels, arms flailed in front of me, feeling somewhat ready for the appendages to do their damage to my frame; but they never did.

After a short moment of cringing with a sound of strong fear emitting from my vocalizer, I locked my blazing optics onto a large cannon in front of me; one of which had blocked the tentacles from their path to me.

Commander Shockwave grunted slightly as Soundwave's flimsy limbs wrapped around his cannon tightly and partially around his ammo-belt and pulled him forward roughly, though not too much due to how much larger and stronger Commander Shockwave was compared to the communications officer.

My derma warped into an angered frown and I immediately went towards Commander Shockwave, soon grasping tightly onto the metal cables coiling around his cannon; they were wrapping themselves around the barrel, gun and up to his shoulder plating now.

"L-Let him go- argh...! Soundwave!" I ordered with an enraged roar, being very much aware that Soundwave was most happy with the fact that he would have either gotten a hold of me or Commander Shockwave with these damned things.

"David, release me." Commander Shockwave unexpectedly commanded, and with a confused expression and a loosening grip of my servos, I brought my stare up to him; feeling very unsure as to why he didn't want me to assist him in this. I wasn't in his way, was I?

It was just then I felt my servos on Soundwave's cables and Commander Shockwave's cannon become very, very hot. Excrutiatingly hot.

"A-Ah! Hot, hot!" I subconsciously cried with a deep hiss, instantly pulling my servos off of Commander Shockwave's cannon and Soundwave's tentacles, shaking my servos frantically while stepping away from Commander Shockwave in a very frisky and perplexed manner.

I gasped and gaped down at my servos in bewilderment, my red optics widening behind my visor in shock. They were now heavily steaming and scalded; a red, fiery burn mark glowing on the palm of each of them for a short moment before faintly disappearing; leaving behind a black wake.

The rapid sound of struggling rattle and loud thumping soon made me move my attention to the two other mechs in the room and away from my lightly burned servos, only to see Soundwave desperately trying to uncoil and remove his now heavily burned appendages from Commander Shockwave's cannon.

The cannon of which was now brightly charged with a striking purple glow, fully ready to fire.

Although it was quite unnerving to see someone in so much pain, especially when having experienced a mere insight of that pain just a moment ago and even though it was happening to Soundwave, I still couldn't prevent myself from smirking triumphantly at Commander Shockwave's brilliant action.

He had simply used the immense power and heat from his cannon to not only get Soundwave to remove his cables from him, but to greatly injure the communications officer's most useful attributes without even firing. Primus, Commander Shockwave was exciting me in more ways than one, despite the seriousness of this situation...

With a surprisingly elegant stumble backwards, Commander Shockwave ceased the blazing charge within his cannon as Soundwave finally managed to unravel his tentacles from his frame and retracted them back into the confinements of his chest. He had done so really slowly due to how intensely hot they were now, not to mention the pain he must be in would most likely be hindering to their movements.

Once the communications officer sheathed his burnt cables, he took his own steady step backwards, and I could already tell he was glaring angrily at Commander Shockwave, whether he has a face or not doesn't take that fact away.

But I was very impressed to say the least, Soundwave had managed to hold his glossa throughout all of that; I had cried out in pain the very moment that I felt the heat from Commander Shockwave's cannon begin to emit, it just shows the difference between Soundwave and myself in terms of power. This is the standard that I have to deal with.

Once Commander Shockwave deemed it, most likely, logical, he began to speak his reason to the communications officer. "Soundwave, you are very well aware of what happens if you intend to continue this foolishness; these futile attempts are making things worse for you rather than better. Think logically about this and dwell on your senses."

"Vehicon: sensible? Shockwave: requirement of senses."

My optics widened slightly at Soundwave's very rapid retort. With burnt, clasped servos I looked to my commander; wishing to see how he would react to that.

Despite the fact that Soundwave had just told Commander Shockwave, legitimately the most logically calculative and rationalized mech Cybertron has come to know, that he needed more senses; my attention was more so focused on what Commander Shockwave would reply to Soundwave's first statement, or question I should say.

It was the very same question that I wanted to ask Commander Shockwave, I really wanted to know if he truly found me to be the logical choice as mate or if he... if he might just consider me as a mate worth fighting for and loving, as a mate that he is always with because he wants to be with me rather than because he thinks that I am a logical choice or helpful in a logical sense, as one would assume he would think like.

Because, with a mech of such logical sense, it is only logical to assume that he thinks that way, right?

Then why? Why me?

Commander Shockwave continued to gaze fixedly at Soundwave in prolonged silence, he had barely moved since Soundwave had spoken, though his silver antennae flicked and twitched every so often.

My already pounding spark had jumped within its chamber when Commander Shockwave sedately turned his helm to lock his deep stare onto me, his crimson optic was dimmed and he oddly seemed nervous, though I could be confusing his current state with my own there.

"David..." My lip plating trembled as he said my name with such an unreadable but consuming tone. He was going to tell me something that I knew would change our relationship completely, and for the better too! Though saying in front of Soundwave didn't seem like a very good idea, or a logical one at that.

"S-Sir...?" My voice was barely audible, but my fervently gleaming visor and desperate tapping of digits were enough to indicate that I was glued to what Commander Shockwave was going to say to me.

"David, I-"

"Soundwave!"

While I jolted for dear life at the sound of that booming voice, Commander Shockwave deterred his optic away from me as Soundwave made swift steps to the navigation's system once again and unlocked the large doors and exits to the main control room with a few taps of his digits rather than his cables of which were burnt and useless at this time.

As the main door quickly opened I almost felt relieved, but it was then I saw the owner of that terrifying voice, and that relief was shot a few lightyears away from my now petrified mind.

Megatron. Lord Megatron himself.

I gasped in sudden fear as Commander Shockwave and Soundwave soon faced him at full attention and bowed respectfully, so of course, I did the very same as them. Though, our bowing didn't seem to ease the anger upon his marred face plate, nor the annoyance of the silver seeker beside him's face plate; nor the anxiousness of Knockout's, who was very well aware that it was me here and not any average vehicon.

Trouble was about to arise, much more than before.

I'm so sad that it's short, but at least I got this updated and shall be doing so as once before, so thanks for reading! Please stay updated and leave a review.~
