Chapter 7,

Mom, Rory and I are building a snow man and it had the stroke mouth.

"How do you like that Mouth?" Mom asks

"She looks like she had a stroke." I said

"She does look like she had a stroke." Rory said

"I'll just use the Mrs. Potato head lips."

"No leave stroke mouth. Not like we're going to win anyway."

"Whoa, Bad attitude."

"Face it Mom that is the most incredible snow, man I have ever seen…." Rory pointed to a man making a snow sculpture.

"No kidding…." I said

"I'm sorry that snowman is way over the top, look at me, I'm Special, I'm incredible…." Mom said

"Kind of the point of a snowman building contest." Rory said

"I hate this man with every fiber of my being…."

"He looks nice."

"I bet he's a ringer." I said trying to goad Mom.

"That's right, someone recruited him, promised him a handsome some, financed his theatrical snowman accoutrements so he could snatch victory from a deserving local." Mom finished

"Seems a little elaborate seeing as the prize is a new set of U.S. Quarters." Rory said

"I'm ignoring you now what are we doing on your school break."

"A lot of nothing."

"I'm working on a dreamscape." I said

"Sounds good." Mom said

"And some homework." Rory added.

"And a lot of movies."

"We have to rent Godfather 3 on DVD."

"You're kidding."

"Coppola actually defends casting Sofia in the audio commentary." Rory said

"That's Fatherly love. What's this homework you have to do?"

"Just stuff for the paper."

"What? Why?"

"Because Paris wants the first issue back to be a double issue, so we have to prep over break, she says the news never sleeps."

"What about Paris does she ever sleep?" I say stealing Lorelai's next line.

"I think she periodically makes a whirring noise and shuts down." Rory said

"Well you can't work the whole time" Mom said

"I won't I promise." Rory said "Oh God."

"What?"

"He's power buffing."

"Aw now that's just wrong."

"We're competing against the Michelangelo of Snow."

"And we're Ernest builds a snowman."

"I offered to bring my art supplies you said we didn't need them." I said

"I lied!" Mom whined

"We shouldn't look at him anymore." Rory said

"Heads down stay focused." Mom said

"We can do this.'

"Absolutely."

The head falls off.

"Want to get some coffee?"

"Me too?" God I miss coffee.

"If you can get Luke to serve it to you sure." Mom says we walked off. It turned out I couldn't get Like to give me coffee, but I did get him to make me a hot chocolate with some caramel mixed in. He only does that for me. That week we went to Grandma and Grandpa's for dinner and it wasn't angry or sulky, the tension was rolling off Grandpa in waves, and you could sense the worry coming off grandma and Mom, and Rory. I didn't speak the entire dinner. I was also in a bad mood, because JR and her family were spending Christmas in New Jersey visiting family, who would pick New Jersey over Stars Hollow. JR wasn't happy about it either but that's where Nonna's brother was and the rest of their family.

We were at the diner after the Bracebridge dinner was cancelled, Mom, and Sookie were pouting, and ranting. I often check out of scenes that were part of the show, it's not like I have to contribute to them. , Others I see what I can change but this one I just sat back and listened, sketched in my sketch book, and drank my caramel hot chocolate. It went exactly like it did in the show. Although let me tell you, they slow down the speech for television, the people of Stars Hallow talk faster in person. We had the Bracebridge Dinner and I spent most of it actually talking to Paris, or Jess. I stayed away from Mrs. Kim she scares me, she's even scarier in person. I talked with Grandpa and Grandma, and I ate, got some amazing sketches, and I rode in the sleigh with Paris.

"You're Rory's Little sister."

"Yeah, we met during the Romeo and Juliet Rehearsal, I liked your interpretation, what did your teacher think of it?"

"She loved it. She said by casting Romeo and Juliet both as girls and doing it traditional Elizabethan we were making a statement about the lack of choices open to women at the time. Either way it got us an A+, I doubt Tristian's performance would have gotten us that…"

"You're really obsessed with school aren't you?"

"I'm going to go to Harvard."

"Why Harvard?"

"10 generations of Gellers have gone to Harvard."

"Well, like me either going to Yale and major in art or Rhode Island School or Design because I want to be an Artist, just going to Harvard because your family has that's crazy."

"I want to be a doctor, cancer research Harvard has an exceptional Pre-Med Program."

"So go out for the paper?"

"Extra-curriculars."

"You seem to enjoy it."

"It gives me a certain amount of satisfaction and enjoy writing and editing but dealing with some of the idiots on the school paper is driving me insane."

"Rory is fairly dedicated she really and truly wants to be a foreign Correspondent when she grows up. And even if she didn't, Rory always gives her best to whatever she does. It can be really annoying to tell you the truth."

"Why would that be annoying?"

"When she's the perfect older sister, and whole town is in love with her. I love my sister a lot, but she's the golden child there's no one in this town who doesn't love her, I'm Lorelai's other daughter. You know how many people in this town call me that?"

"I'm Sorry that must hurt."

"I got used to it, I still wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I don't know if you've noticed but this town is one giant mental hospital."

"The Rooster Statue and the giant Slinky tipped me off."

"The Hallow works in Mysterious ways, Paris. Every day something crazy happens and it inspires some of my best art if I follow Kirk around I can create truly amazing pieces."

That Night as we got ready for bed. I insisted of sleeping with Mom. I was in My I Love Lucy Pajamas, and carrying Gia. Mom had the same breakdown about Sherry the stepmother, we calmed her down. I explained I wouldn't want to go anyway because I didn't trust dad enough, for an overnight visit. If He wanted to earn my trust and love he had to visit me in the daytime, and spend time with me. Rory hadn't made up her mind yet. Grandma showed up, Mom and Grandma putting on makeup at the same time was funnier in person and Grandma left. The rest of the break we watched movies, on Christmas we went to Sookie's.

So Our house has termites, so what I got woken up in the middle of the night and dragged to Sookie's, I could sleep fine and it didn't bother me even when Mom's insanity infected Rory. I tried to stay home, but mom wouldn't let me. As Q I'd stayed in worse places infested with worse things than termites. The next week or two went exactly like the episode. After the second night at Sookie's I moved in with JR. Unlike in the show I saw the tent the place and make repairs.

I wanted to help about Mom when Grandpa came to Stars Hollow but I had gotten sick, I had a fever, and a sore throat, and headache, and my ached all over. Luke like usual made me soup. Before Grandpa went to the Inn, he came and visited me and bought me a book on Impressionist paintings from Andrew's bookstore.

"Grandpa…."

"Hello, Quinn, Your Neighbor Babette let me in."

"Yeah she's watching me while mom's at work."

"I got you this."

"Impressionist paintings, cool."

"You really love art don't you?"

"Yes, very much, I either want to go to the Rhode Island School of Design or Yale, did you know Yale had a very impressive Art school. It's the only Ivy League school with one worth going to."

"Yes I know that, it's also the only Ivy League school with a Drama department worth mentioning. Anything at all you want to learn you can learn at Yale."

"I want to be an artist and I want to make beautiful paintings and sculptures and murals, and I want to live here in Stars Hallow and travel to New York, and Hartford and Boston for art shows, it's convenient for all three, you see. I'm gonna need a van for my work, when I get big, and I'll travel into the city every weekend, maybe I'll have a small apartment there so I won't have to rent a hotel room….I mean when I have shows in Hartford I could just stay with you, and when I have shows in Boston I can just stay with my dad. What would be awesome as if I got into the Whitney Biennial or something, that would set up my career forever…."

"You've thought a lot about this."

"Yeah, I love Stars Hollow too much not to live here, but New York is the art scene, and I'll need to travel there often to get to work in, but there are also art scenes Hartford, Boston, up and down the Hudson Valley, in Woodstock, there is a small one in LA, and San Francisco, but New York is like the Mecca at least in the states would I wouldn't give to see the Louvre, I could spend years just studying the paintings there. When I go the Met, I can spent two hours looking at one painting, I'm sure it would take me ten years to go through the Louvre…."

Grandpa smiled. "I'm sure it would…"

"Grandpa are you alright, you seem sad?"

"Grandmother forced your mother into taking me for the day because I was annoying her, and your mother doesn't really want me here."

"If you don't mind the germs you can hang out with me."

"I'm going to go you need your rest."

He left and I fell back asleep.

The bid a basket thing was happening. I just filled my with junk food. Twinkies, cooler ranch Doritos, ring dings, Swedish Fish, skittles, peanut M&Ms, fun size snickers, Fun Size Milky Way, red vines, beef Jerky, Root Beer from my private Stash, and those big gooey Chocolate chip cookies from Westins. Jess got Rory's basket for $90, Luke got Mom's for just over 50. Dean bought my basket, I'm not sure why. Then I suggested Rory that we double. I was always a Literati but that didn't mean I didn't feel bad for Dean at least in the second and third season, in the fourth and fifth season I felt bad for Lindsay, and a little for Rory he never should have married Lindsay and never should have let himself get swept up with Rory again. Honestly I think he was a little emotionally unstable. Not that Jess all that stable he had plenty of problems but of her boyfriend I think he was actually her soulmate. Not that each of them didn't contribute to her in an important way I really think Jess should come to the party in the last episode and they get back together. I'll have to remember to invite him. Also I wanted to avoid the fight at Grandma's house and Grandma actually hating Jess, since my post-series plan was to get Jess and Rory together. Not that I didn't think Logan wasn't good for her, or Dean had serious emotional problems to marry someone he obviously didn't love when he didn't have the money or the stability and then cheat on her with his lost love the first chance he got, then to just break up with her because he saw her in a tiara and a fancy dress.

"Why does Rory's basket have all this I don't even know what this is…..and your basket have all this junk food?" Dean asked

"Because Rory and Mom basically clean out the fridge into their baskets. I use my candy and junk food stashes to fill my basket, which my mom and Rory can't get into because they are under lock and key…."

"Lock and Key?" Jess asks.

"With Lorelai in the house you'd do the same." I said "Now, Dean you supposed we can share with our friends, or do you want to keep our basket to ourselves?"

"I suppose we can share."

"Alright but root beer is ours."

We had a picnic on the bridge. And between the four of us we talked about books, and Movies, Dean saw how easily Rory and Jess connected and how he was getting left out of the conversation. I could see it. Then we went to the bookstore, and Rory and Jess went off together and I went off with Dean.

"She likes him Dean, but she doesn't know she likes him, And She still likes you, if television has taught me anything you can like two people at the same time."

"So what do I do?"

"The harder you try to hold onto the faster you're going to lose her, but you might lose her anyway then again you might not, or if you do lose it, it might not be for a while, have you consider sharing her. Together you're the perfect boyfriend, your strong and courageous, responsible, kind, compassionate, call get things off the high shelf, and get all her and Lorelai's Bits, Jess doesn't, And he gets her Music and Movies, and he's sarcastic and funny, and he's bad boy thing that every girl secretly craves."

"Are sure you're 11?"

I shrugged. "It's a valid suggestion."

"I don't think it's a good idea."

I shrug again. I gave him a hug, and told him I hoped it worked out and I did just not for him and Rory. If it didn't work out for her and Jess I hope she ended up with Logan. There was no fight at Grandma's.
