She wasn't quite sure what had woken her up. Could be the bed- it had been almost two years since the last time she'd slept in it. Or, it could be the AC - his room was certainly colder than what she was used to.

If she had to guess though, it was probably more to do with the strong corded arm wrapped around her torso, or how his warm breath teased the nape of her neck every time he exhaled.

And it's certainly not everyday she's sharing a pillow with someone while sleeping. Not just someone though. Sam. And it smelled like him.

She closed her eyes again, a smile blossoming on her face. It took every fiber of her being not to jump out of the bed, do cartwheels that would impress any Olympic judges, and uncharacteristically bang her fists against the wall in excitement. She was capable of doing all options, but she wasn't sure Sam would appreciate her trashing his bedroom. That, and she didn't want to risk waking him up.

It had been two weeks since she came to his apartment to rekindle things, so she should have gotten used to this, right? Apparently that's not how it worked. Going to bed thinking about Sam was certainly different with going to bed with Sam. Even his snore thrilled her to some degree. She wondered when the charm would wear out. For his sake, she hoped it never would. His couch was lumpy she would hate for him to sleep there and have backaches in the morning. And she needed her Sam pillow.

When she opened her eyes again, she immediately seek out his alarm, only to find the nightstand empty. She rolled her eyes. Typical, typical Sam. She had to admit that she had gotten a bit distracted last night to think about anything else that didn't involve 'Sam' and 'bed', but she wouldn't be surprised if he had hid the alarm on purpose.

Unwilling to leave her comfortable position snuggled against him, she reached a bare arm out and open the drawer, wincing when the half opened drawer made a slight creak. She waited and counted to ten before pulling it again. No alarm clock. She should have known he was more creative than that. If he had hidden it someplace else, then today was his lucky day. She had no desire to leave the safe sanctuary of his embrace just yet and do a scavenger hunt.

However, there's something inside the drawer that caught her eyes.

She took the white envelope with a very familiar scrawled handwriting on the front. She would recognize it anywhere- she should. It was hers.

Please give to Sam.

She didn't even tell Winnie to give it to Sam. The dispatcher was not on her console and Jules had simply left it there. Sam never said anything about it, but she trusted Winnie to have given it to him.

It took a bit of a work to pull what's inside the envelope with one hand, but she managed and with a flick of her thumb, flipped the paper open. It still smelled faintly of her perfume.

We make a good team.

He kept it. Even with everything that had happened between them, Sam kept it. Even when he knew she was seeing somebody else. The relationship with Steve might have ended that very night, but the team didn't find out until two weeks later when she went to Sydney's wedding without a plus-one.

Jules bit her lips, feeling hot tears stinging her eyes.

"You were wrong," Sam's groggy, hoarse voice said. Jules blinked back her tears and glanced over her shoulder. His eyes were closed, but he's awake. And he's smiling.

"About what?"

He opened his eyes then. Even sleepy his blue eyes seemed to shine brighter than the sun outside. "We make a great team."
