Finn was pacing nervouly up and down on the sidewalk in front of the Anderson house. He was glad he had called Will and didn't have to be there alone. He wasn't sure what was the right thing to do. Will and Emma, however, seemed to be more practiced in such things. They suggested that he should stay outside while they talk to John in the presence of their guards, since they weren't involved in the story. So nobody can say later that Finn did something he didn't have the right to.

"Sir, Mr Schuester wants to talk to you" a guard stepping out from the house said. Finn nodded and followed him inside.

Will and Emma were standing in the middle of the living room, their expression full of concern.

"What is it? And where is John?" Finn asked as he stepped closer.

"We didn't find him" Will said after a moment of hesitation. "It looks like he left the building hurriedly."

"This can't be happening..." Finn said, rubbing his forehead.

"We've found a lot of things in his study, our men are working on that now. Maybe they will find something soon."

Finn nodded and went into the study with Will. As he was told, Will's men were searching there. There were a lot of papers on the desk without any order, they were just thrown around.

"Did you find anything?" Finn asked as he walked to the desk. One of the guards lifted up a mound of papers.

"Yes, sir. We think these can help the case" the man said and handed the documents to Finn, who immediately started reading them.

There were e-mails printed out from John's address, most of them written by or to the Russian guy they were searching for. And every one of them was about Kurt. Where Kurt was, what Kurt did... it made Finn sick. They were following Kurt since months, long before his father's death. There were pictures taken in the school, in the town and even in their own estate. It looked like John had known about everything.

"Finn..." Emma said with wide eyes as she read another letter through. It wasn't good. She handed it to Finn, so the man could read it, too.

It was from a few days earlier then the day Burt died. Kozlov had reported that he had found the suitable woman for the job. Finn didn't understand first what kind of job it could have been, but there was the answer, too.

"God..." he muttered and had to sit down. He never thought that Burt's death was planned but now they had the evidence that it was. Written with John Anderson's own words.

"We will find him" Will said, squeezing Finn's arm reassuringly. "He left his laptop in the other room. Do you want to see it?" he asked, hoping that he could distract Finn's thoughts.

"Yeah" the younger man said, staring in front of himself. Luckily, Emma helped him to get to the next room. There were a few other men, Finn knew them from the IT department. One of them had helped him once when his computer died.

"Anything new?" Will asked.

"Yes, sir. We could break into the e-mail system and are able to read everything now" one of them said, waving towards the empty chair behing the desk. One of the guards quickly got them two other chairs, so all of the council members could sit down.

Every mail they had read before was there. It looked like nothing else came from Kozlov, John printed everything out for himself.

"Let's see the last e-mails" Will ordered and the IT guy beside him complied. "If he was in rush, he only had time for the most important things. Did he send anything in the last few hours?"

The IT guy worked quickly and nodded.

"He only sent one e-mail, to one Blaine Anderson."

"And what was it about?" Finn asked and moved closer to see the screen. And he got even more confused as he read the words written there.

"What the hell is going on?" he asked but nobody could answer his question.

Finn, Emma and Will arrived at Finn's house 20 minutes later, in the company of Shannon Beiste, who joined them at the Anderson house after Will had called her and asked to go there immediately. This whole case was a lot more serious than any of them thought it will be.

"Okay, so I'll go in there and speak with the boys. I want you to stay in the hall. I think it's the best if Kurt hears the news from me" Finn said with a sigh. He didn't want to do this but there was no other possibility.

"We will be here if you need us" Shannon replied and Finn had to smile. The woman always knew how to make him smile with her kind nature.

"Thank you" Finn said and walked into the living room. Kurt and Blaine were there, sitting on the couch until they noticed his arrival.

"What is it, Finn? You scared me with your text" Kurt asked as he stood up with phone in his hand.

"Come here, Kurt" Finn said seriously and the boys' eyes met confusedly.

"But what..." Kurt started but Finn cut in, stepping closer.

"I said come here, now!" Finn shouted and Kurt stepped to him quickly.

Finn kept his eyes on Blaine, who looked even more confused than before as Finn pushed Kurt behind his back.

"Where is your father?" Finn asked and grabbed Kurt's arm as the boy tried to step out from behind him.

"What do you mean?" Blaine asked. He didn't understand why Finn was acting so weird.

"You know exactly what I mean! Now tell me, where is your father?"

Kurt looked between his brother and his boyfriend. He didn't understand anything.

"Finn, what's going on?" he asked quietly.

"Your boyfriend is not what he seems to be. He worked for his father the whole time. He was just playing with you" Finn answered, his eyes still on Blaine.

"What? No! That's not true!" Blaine said outraged. "I love you, Kurt" he said and stepped closer.

"Stay there" Finn warned him with bright red eyes. "What did you plan to do to him, huh?"

Blaine stared at Finn with wide eyes just like Kurt. They didn't understand a word.

"Finn, Blaine is my boyfriend, he wouldn't hurt me..." Kurt started but Finn cut in again.

"We were in their house. The man who tried to attack you, who killed your neighbour, he was working for Blaine's father. We found their e-mails. And we found another one, John sent it to Blaine. He is in it, too."

Kurt gasped and looked at Blaine in disbelief. This couldn't be happening. Blaine gulped and shook his head, stepping closer.

"No, Kurt, that's not true, I swear..."

"They just wanted to get close to you" Finn said, turning to Kurt. The boy shook his head, tears gleaming in his eyes.

"No. This can't be true" Kurt whispered, looking again at Blaine.

"It is" Finn answered quietly. Then he turned back to Blaine. "I want you to tell us everything you know about your father's plan, as well as where to find him."

"This is insane. I-I don't know where he is, I haven't seen him for days and I didn't know that he wanted to hurt Kurt" Blaine answered, afraid of what was going to happen to him.

"If you don't want to help us, I don't have other options. Guards!" Finn called and three men appeared at the door. "Take him to the prison."

"No!" Kurt screamed and tried to get to Blaine but Finn grabbed his arm and pulled him back.

"It's gonna be okay" Finn said quietly as the guards handcuffed Blaine and started dragging him out of the room.

"I won't hurt you, Kurt, you have to believe me..." Blaine said as he was led out of the room, the door's closing muffling his voice.

When they were left alone, Finn let go of Kurt's arm and helped the boy to the couch, so he could sit down.

"There's something else you should know" Finn sighed and hugged the crying boy. He knew this would be hard for Kurt but he had to tell him everything.

"I-I can't take more" Kurt sobbed. He felt like his heart was ripped out of his chest. Everything was so perfect, and he had to learn that it was all a lie?

"I know this is hard but you have to know and it won't be less painful later" Finn said and waited for Kurt's answer. The boy nodded after a few seconds, so he took a deep breath before continuing. "Your father's death... it wasn't in accident. John hired this man, Ivan Kozlov and paid for him to kill Burt or find somebody to make it."

Kurt felt sick. First Blaine and now this... he couldn't breath because of the pain in his chest and he was sobbing so hard it made him nauseous.

"Are you okay? Should I call your doctor?" Finn asked in corcern as Kurt cried harder and harder. It was like after his father's death and Finn was afraid he will have another break-down.

Kurt shook his head and hastily stood up when he felt the need to vomit. He ran out of the room to the next bathroom and emptied his stomach in no time.

"This can't be happening" he whispered, leaning against the cold wall of the bathroom.

Blaine was sitting on the ground in the small cell he was locked in with his head in his hands. He didn't know how the things could get so wrong so fast. He had a fantastic date with Kurt, they had a great dinner and got closer to each other. Then, the text from Finn arrived and they went to Finn's house to learn more. And now, he was in a cell because they thought he did something bad for his father.

He didn't really understand Finn's words, all he knew his father did something and the council thought he was part of it. But it was a lie. Blaine would never hurt anyone, escepially Kurt, who he was in love with. Yeah, he loved Kurt. He even thought about asking him to be his mate. When Jeff and Nick talked about their bond, they described their feelings just like he felt for Kurt. He knew they were barely together, but that was it. Kurt was his mate. And he wanted to spend his whole life with him.

But then he remembered the pain in Kurt's eyes as Finn told them about the man and John working together, working on hurting Kurt. He was afraid that Kurt would never want to go close to him again.

"You have a visitor" a guard said from behind the door and it suddenly opened.

Blaine stood up and walked out, following the guard into another room. There was only a desk and two chairs in it, no mirrors or anything else like in the movies. They weren't alone, though, Will Schuester was sitting behind the desk with his arms crossed in front of his chest. The guard nodded towards him and left them alone. Blaine didn't know what he should do, so he took a tentative step closer to the man.

"Sit down" Schuester ordered and Blaine hastily took a place.

"I didn't do anything" Blaine said instantly. He knew very well why he was here.

"Blaine, I was there when our men found your father's e-mail. I read it" Will said sadly. He liked the kid, Blaine was just like his mother, nice and caring. Or so he thought.

"I don't know what you read but it's not true. I swear, I didn't know about my father's actions" Blaine tried to convince the man desperately. Will shook his head and took out a piece of paper from his jacket.

"Really, Blaine?" he asked and handed the paper to Blaine. It was there clearly. His father words as he explained why he had to flee and directions for Blaine to keep getting closer to Kurt for the success of their mission. The boy paled as he read the letter again. He knew his father hated him but never thought he would do something like this to him.

"I... I... He wants you to think I helped him. I don't know why but I never did anything against Kurt and I never will" Blaine said and lowered his gaze as he felt tears pricking in his eyes.

"This is pointless. I want to help you, maybe I can do something to reduce your punishment but only if you help me. So tell me, where can we find your father?"

"I-I don't know!" Blaine said, looking up. Why was this happening to him?

Will sighed, leaning back on his chair. He thought this conversation would end quickly, with Blaine telling them what they needed to know, so maybe he could send the boy home with a few guards and not keeping him in the prison for the night. But Blaine didn't speak. He wanted to believe he was innocent, but the evidence...

"I think you should go back to your cell" Will said finally, standing up. Blaine followed him immediately.

"I have to see Kurt. Please" he said suddenly, with a new plan forming in his mind. If he was right, Kurt was his mate, so the boy had to feel the same way and he could prove that Blaine told the truth. True mates would do everything for each other and never hurt the other. So if Kurt accept him as his mate, he would be free again.

"No" Schuester said firmly. "That poor boy suffered enough."

Blaine hesitated. He didn't want to speak about his feelings until he tells Kurt what he felt but first he had to even get a chance to speak to the boy.

"Kurt is my mate" he whispered, looking down. Will stared at him disbelievingly, trying to figure out if Blaine told him the truth.

"Blaine, the bond between mates is the most precious thing in the vampires' life. That's what keeps us immortal. The love for our mate. You can't use it to escape your actions."

Blaine shook his head and stepped closer.

"I know, Mr Schue. But Kurt is my mate, I can feel it. If I had a chance to meet him, I can tell him how I feel and if he feels the same way, that proves my predication. You know that mates would never do any harm towards each other. And our laws describe that in that case you can't keep me here anymore" Blaine said, trying to be as convincing as he could.

"Okay, I think I've heard enough for today. I won't let you meet Kurt, so you should just find out how to help yourself" Will said and stepped to the door.

"If I'm right, and I know I am, he will be sick if you keep him away from me" Blaine shouted as two guards grabbed his arms and began dragging him out of the room.

"If you're right Kurt will know what to do" Mr Schuester said, turning away.

"He's only in our society for months. Months! He doesn't even know what the bond means, he won't know what to do. Mr Schue!" Blaine shouted until they reached the end of the corridor and he couldn't see the man anymore.

John Anderson was satisfied. Hudson couldn't find him, he was too late. When Finn and his men had arrived, John had been already out of the house after making sure he had left enough evidence against his son. He had to keep Blaine away from Kurt somehow and he was sure it would make it. And it did.

Now, John Anderson was in his safe house, a place nobody knew about, not even his sons. He had bought it a few years earlier, when his private businesses had gone so far that he needed to hide some documents and there was a possibility that he needed a place to lay low for a while.

It wasn't big, just a one family house with two bedrooms, but it had a huge basement and that's what he needed right now. He brought his books with him from the other house, so he could finish his plans. He set up an altar in the middle of the basement, with candles, herbs and knives, everything he would use to get the power he wanted. Only one thing missed: Kurt. He didn't get the boy in the past few months and he started to get impatient. He only had a few days left and he had to get the boy somehow. He gave Ivan only 36 hours to finish the job, or he will do it. In the second case, Ivan would be dead in a few hours, of course. John Anderson never made a mistake and it won't be the first time he will. This mission was too important.

You will find out soon what (and why) happened to Blaine's mother and what John's plans with Kurt are.

There are only 3 or 4 chapters left. I'm thinking about writing a sequel with a time jump. What do you think?
