Blaine was pacing the room nervously. It was almost 6 in the morning and they didn't find anything useful during the night. He started getting really afraid of what his father could do to Kurt and he blamed himself for not being able to protect his own mate. He should have been more careful. He should have been stronger to defend Kurt and not let his father take him.
"Are you okay?" he heard Finn's voice from behind him and he turned around to face the man.
"Yes" he said, although he knew Finn could see how worried he was.
"You should sleep, you look like crap" Finn replied. Blaine almost laughed. Finn looked just as fine as the younger man.
"No, I want to help" Blaine said. "What about the classified files?"
They had found some files in John's computer they couldn't open earlier and now the whole IT team was working on them.
"They couldn't open them yet" Finn sighed and sat down, burying his head into his hands.
"I can't believe everything is against us" Blaine whispered and sat down next to Finn. "Kurt is the sweetest, the nicest, the most helpful person I know. He doesn't deserve this."
Finn looked up to see tears appearing in Blaine's eyes. He reached out to shake the boy's shoulder.
"Hey, it's gonna be okay. We'll find him" he said.
Suddenly, the door swang open and Will stepped into the small room.
"We did it! We have the first few files from John's computer" he said. Finn and Blaine jumped up instantly and rushed to the door. The three men ran back into the computer room.
"Show us" Finn ordered and one of the IT guys sent the picture through the projector, so everybody could see it on the wall.
It was a long document, it seemed like a simple translation of a text with some notes. Finn started reading and he had to be too slow, because Blaine and Will gasped beside him seconds before he reached one point of the text that made his eyes grow wide.
"It can't be... he wouldn't do something like that, right?" Blaine asked desperately.
The text in front of him was written by his father, the translation was about a ritual that made possible to get power even the strongest vampires never had, but it wasn't what made Blaine sick. The notes his father wrote to the text were about Kurt. They could read that John needed the blood of a dhampir to the success, and the only one he knew was Kurt. There were more informations about Kurt than Finn or Blaine knew about the boy.
"We have to hurry" Will said as he read the rest of the text. "It says that the ritual should be performed when the moon turnes into complete darkness. It has to be the lunar eclipse."
"Which is today" Blaine whispered.

"Good morning!" John said happily as he stepped into the room where Kurt was.
The boy winced as he woke up from his restless dream and he pulled against his bonds.
"It's time to get ready" John said and showed the golden chalice in his hands.
He stepped to Kurt and put of his fingers into the chalice. When he pulled them out, Kurt could see dark liquid on them – blood. Kurt pulled back desperately as John reached out to touch his forehead with his bloody fingers.
"Keep still" John growled.
He set down the chalice and steadied Kurt's head with his free hand, so he couldn't turn away. The man started painting strange symbols onto Kurt's skin, first on his forehead, than his cheeks.
"We have to ruin this shirt, but you won't need it anymore anyway" John laughed and ripped Kurt's shirt, so he could paint more marks onto Kurt's bare chest.
The boy struggled to get away from the touch but it was useless as he was still bound to the chair. He tried to get rid of the gag at least, so he could say something, but he couldn't. He could do nothing but cry as John finished his work and stepped back to admire it.
"Hey, don't cry, you'll ruin them" the man said.
Kurt shook his head and closed his eyes. He didn't care if his tears wash away the marks from his cheeks, he didn't want this and if he could make Mr Anderson's job harder, he'll do it. The man shook his head, too, and stepped back to Kurt, grabbing his chin roughly.
"Listen to me. If you ruin the ritual, I'll not only kill you, but find Blaine and kill him, too. Do you want that?" he asked angrily.
Kurt shook his head immediately. He wanted to keep Blaine safe. He had to.
"Good" John said and released his chin. "I'll come back for you in a few hours."
He turned around and left the room, leaving Kurt once again alone with his thoughts.

"So he needs the blood of a deer, a silver knife and herbs for the ritual" Finn said as he went through the text again. "Okay. So if they're in the forest, it's not hard to get the blood. He just has to kill a deer. But he has to buy the other things."
Blaine sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. They were still too far from finding out where to find his father and Kurt and it made him worried.
"This is pointless" he said. "Perhaps we'll be able to find out where he bought those things. But we still won't know where he went."
Finn bit his lip and lowered his gaze. Blaine was right. But he wanted to find Kurt so badly that he couldn't think rationally anymore.
"We can still look around in the occult shops. There couldn't be too much in this area" Will offered.
Finn shook his head.
"No. We'll do something else" he said and turned to one of the guards. "Bring Ivan Kozlov to me."

When Mr Anderson returned, he had chains in his hands. Kurt gulped as he stared at them fearfully. He didn't know what to expect now but he knew it can only be something bad. John freed him and helped the boy to his feet.
"Your hands" he ordered.
Kurt stepped back immediately and continued backing away until his back hit the wall.
"Please, don't do this" he pleaded, shaking like a leaf.
John growled and started walking towards him. Kurt jumped away from him just in time and seeing the opportunity, he started running towards the door. He reached the door and turned right without thinking. He didn't know where to find the exit but he didn't have time to think. He found the stairs and even made it halfway up when John caught up with him. The man grabbed Kurt by his waist and threw him back down to the floor. Kurt landed on his side and hit his leg and arm. He hissed in pain but didn't waste time, he stood up again and wanted to ran into the other direction.
"Enough" John hissed as he grabbed Kurt's injured arm roughly, stopping the boy. "You little shit, I can't wait to kill you."
Kurt tried to pull away desperately but he just caused himself more pain. Mr Anderson's grip on his arm didn't loosen.
"Let me go" Kurt said and tried to pull away again.
"No" John said and turned him around, forcing Kurt to walk back into the room. He grabbed the chains and locked them quickly around Kurt's wrists. "Let's go."
John set up the altar in the middle of the basement, where he had enough place for it and the pentagram around the altar. He led Kurt to the altar and forced him to lie down. He fixed the chains over Kurt's head and went to his legs to fix them, too. Kurt wasn't going to let him, so when the man reached out to grab his ankle, he kicked him hard. The man pulled back his arm, hissing in pain, his eyes turning to red in anger.
"You better hold still, or I'll knock you out" he said and tried to grab Kurt's ankle again.
The boy didn't care anymore, he was willing to do everything to prevent John from chaining his legs to the altar. He kicked again, this time he wasn't fast enough and couldn't hurt the man. John waited for him to pull back his leg and when Kurt tried to kick him again, he grabbed his ankle and quickly locked it. Then it was easy to chain his other leg. Kurt tried to break free but he wasn't strong enough. He started hyperventilating and struggling like a caged animal.
"It's useless. You're not going anywhere" John said and laughed.

They only waited for a few minutes before two guards returned with Kozlov. He was handcuffed and had chains around his ankles, so he could move slowly but the guards forced him to hurry. They led him to a chair where he sat down.
"Tell us where to find John Anderson" Finn said without hesitation. They were running out of time.
The man smiled widely.
"You won't get to him in time. It's so said" Kozlov said.
Finn heard a low growl and turned to Blaine and looked into his eyes. He could tell Blaine almost lost control and was ready to attack the man. And it gave him a great idea.
"Leave me alone with him. Blaine, you can stay if you want" he said and the guards nodded before turning towards the door.
"What is in your mind?" Will asked because he wasn't sure he should leave the prisoner alone with Kurt's brother and mate. He knew how insecure vampires could be if their loved ones were in danger and he didn't want Finn or Blaine to do something they'll regret later.
"I'll find out where we can find John and Kurt. Leave us, Will" Finn said urgently.
"You can't kill him, Finn. It's against everything we're working for" Will whispered into Finn's ear seriously. Finn shook his head.
"I won't kill him. Now get out" he hissed, his eyes turning red for a second. Will looked around nervously but finally nodded and left them alone. When the door was closed, Finn turned to Kozlov.
"You're his only confidant. If somebody knows where to find John, it's you. Now tell us where he is" he said and stepped closer. So saw from the corner of his eyes that Blaine did the same.
"I can't help you" Kozlov said, smiling.
Blaine growled again. His eyes turned to red and before Finn could blink he surged forward and shoved Kozlov, knocking him over with the chair. Then he grabbed the man's neck and threw him against the wall. Kozlov fell to the ground but he didn't stay there long, Blaine was in front of him again in a second, grabbed his neck and pushed him against the wall, keeping him there.
"Make him stop" Kozlov begged as Blaine's grip tightened around his neck.
"Sadly, I can't" Finn said and stepped closer. He wouldn't let Blaine kill the man but Kozlov didn't have to know it.
"You can't do this. It's against the laws" Kozlov groaned and grabbed Blaine's hands, trying to free himself.
"Kidnapping and sacrificing somebody is against the laws, too" Blaine growled.
"If I were you, I would tell what I know" Finn smiled. He saw how afraid Kozlov was.
"Okay" Kozlov said finally. "I know where they are and I'll tell you."
"You better don't lie" Blaine threatened.

"It's time" John said excitedly.
He stepped to the altar and painted different symbols around Kurt with the blood. Then he stepped back again, grabbed the knife and started circling around the altar. After the third round, he stopped and took out an old book. He opened and placed it beside Kurt.
"I waited so long for this moment" he muttered.
Kurt stared at him with wide eyes. He didn't struggle or scream anymore, he knew it was useless. He just hoped it will be quick and mostly painless. He closed his eyes, thinking about Blaine. He didn't even had the chance to say goodbye.
John started reading from the book, using a language Kurt didn't understand. The symbols around him lit up, making him more nervous than before. John started circling around him again, chanting something Kurt couldn't understand. Suddenly, shadows started emerging from the symbols and Kurt screamed. There were more and more from them and they remained around him. It was like the room became completely dark around him and the only thing he could see was the knife in Mr Anderson's hand.
John put down the book and lifted the knife into the air.
"And here's your sacrifice" he smiled, stepping to Kurt.
The boy couldn't breath anymore, he glared at the knife and hoped some kind of miracle will happen and save him from the evil man.
"Take the blood of a dhampir in return for the power of the most tremendous vampires" John shouted and was ready to stab Kurt with the knife.
Kurt closed his eyes before it could happen, he wasn't able to watch. He waited for the pain to appear and waited but nothing happened. He opened his eyes slowly and almost laughed in relief as he saw Finn grab John's hand and drag him away from the altar.
"Kurt! Are you okay?"
Kurt turned his head and saw Blaine only a few steps away from him.
"Blaine" he almost sobbed as his boyfriend reached the altar and looked on him, searching for injuries.
"Don't worry, you're safe now" Blaine said with a reassuring smile.
"How could you do this?" Finn asked angrily as he twisted the knife out of John's hand and pushed the man against the wall.
"You don't understand. I need this power" John said and surged forward.
He grabbed Finn's neck and squeezed it but Finn grabbed his wrists and pushed them away. Then he kicked the other man and threw him against the wall again.
"I should kill you" Finn hissed.
"I'll kill you first" John replied and attacked Finn again.
The man wasn't really concerned about him because he had the guards behind him. They would help him if he needed. But he wanted to deal with John alone. He saw from the corner of his eyes that Blaine freed Kurt
"Blaine! Take Kurt out" he ordered. The boy nodded and helped Kurt to get up.
"No!" John shouted. He pushed Finn out of the way and started running towards the boys. He couldn't let Kurt get away now. The shadows became impatient as they didn't get their sacrifice yet and John know they hated waiting. If he can't give them the blood fast, they will take him instead.
He reached Blaine first and tried to hit his son but Blaine grabbed his arm and twisted it.
"Let me to him, Blaine" John said and ried to escape.
"No" Blaine growled and hit his father in his face. He knew it was bad, he shouldn't hurt his own father, even if he hated him. But his mate was the most important.
"Look at the shadows. They're here for his blood. If I can't give it them, they'll kill me. You don't want that" John said desperately as the shadows came closer. They decided not to wait longer.
"You should have thought about it when you had the chance" Blaine said and pushed his father to the altar and grabbed Kurt's arm to drag the boy away from him.
What happened next was totally unexpected. John surged forward, trying to grab Kurt, Blaine and Finn jumped in front of the boy, ready to defend him, when suddenly, a shadow attacked John. It snaked around his waiste and pulled him back to the altar.
"Blaine, help me!" the man screamed as he struggled against the shadow.
"Don't go there" Finn warned the boy when he took a step closer.
"He's my father, Finn" Blaine said, not taking his eyes down from his father.
"It's too dangerous. We can't do anything" Finn responded.
Kurt híd his face to Blaine's shoulder. He couldn't take more. Blaine pulled him closer but held his gaze on his father. The man was on the altar now, the shadows circling around him. And then, it was suddenly over. The shadows disappeared with Blaine's father and the room fell into complete silence. Everybody looked at the altar with wide eyes.
"It's over" Finn whispered after a few minutes. He stepped to Blaine and Kurt and pulled his brother into a hug.
"Finn" Kurt's voice trembled as he hugged his brother. He finally understood that it was over. He was saved. And he started crying.
"Hey, it's okay" Finn hushed quietly. "It's okay."
"I thought you won't find me" Kurt sobbed. He reached out and pulled Blaine into the hug, too. He needed him. He needed them now.
"It's over" Blaine whispered.
