Had alot of trouble writting this chapter so I've written it up in two halves, this being the first. Special thanks to reviewers of the last chapter: PrettyNPinkGirl, Mentalcase50 and violetcrumble512.

Getting back to the stage with minutes to spare, Murdoc grabbed his bass and slung it across his back, giving it a quick strum before making sure everyone was in place. He'd positioned 2D in front, himself and Noodle on either side of 2D and Russel in the back on a slightly raised platform so the audience would be able to see them all equally- too many of Murdoc's old bands had failed because one or more members of the band had felt side-lined.

Everyone was in place and it would be curtain up in less than two minutes, Murdoc strummed a few chords before going to swap places with 2D (as leader of the band, Murdoc always felt it important that he be the one to introduce the band and rally the audience before letting 2D take over). Murdoc moved over to take centre stage, 2D just stood there and stared at him, Murdoc growled, once again feeling much too self-conscious in the dullard's gaze, "Oi, move it! Yer crowdin me face-ache!".

2D chewed his lip slightly, "Mudz, you don't look too good...". Murdoc shrugged and sneered, putting his hands against 2D's back and gently pushing him away, "That's why you're the front man, pretty boy, now get over there and shut yer mouth till the music starts". 2D closed his mouth, and moved over to stand where Murdoc told him, he desperately wanted to say something to his best friend, tell him he was scared for the older guy's well-being, tell him that he should sit this one out, but he didn't. 2D would later blame himself for that, though deep down he always knew there was no stopping a determined Murdoc.

The curtain came up and Murdoc swallowed, his throat suddenly dry, his head dizzy and his body freezing, he forced out a grin and gave an ecstatic yell, "ALRIGHT LONDON! Are you ready to rock?!".

The audience cheered and Murdoc grinned, "Sorry, what was that?". The audience yelled out more enthusiastically, Murdoc snorted, "Well if that's the way you feel we'll leave then…". The audience gave out an almost ground shattering applause, screaming whistling and clapping in response. Murdoc grinned almost demonically, "Well that's more like it! Three, two, one, go!".

Hours Later:

They'd been playing for two and a half hours without a break, Murdoc was shaking and sweating quite a lot, beginning to see crazed blobs and spots of different colours all over the place, more than once he was sure he'd seen the boogieman, his father and dozens of others who had it in for him, only for them to morph back into ordinary members of the public or to have just simply not been there at all.

He knew what ever he'd taken couldn't have been the best or purest of mixtures, more than once he'd a terrible pain in his chest like he was on the verge of a heart attack, his body temperature had repeatedly changed suddenly, from boiling hot to freezing cold. Looking around he could tell the other three members of the band were obviously suffering from mild fatigue. But Murdoc knew (being a doctor) that whatever he had was much worse than just mild fatigue, he needed help and he knew it.

Continuing to play his bass, Murdoc watched 2D strut up and down the stage as he sang the words to Rock It. Murdoc waited until 2D was nearing him, took a hand off his bass and gave 2D a gentle shove as he went past.

2D quickly glanced at Murdoc, surprised at how out of breath he seemed, 'break' Murdoc mouthed. 2D gave a quick nod in understanding. He finished the song and grinned to the audience "Alright, Mudz needs a rest so we're gonna-".

His hateful pride not allowing him to be down played, Murdoc quickly shouted back, "Oi, who sez I need a break Face-ache! I ain't you're agin Granpa or nothin". Shocked at Murdoc's sudden angry response, 2D stared at the Satanist, "What, I didn' mean-".

Ignoring 2D's rushed apologies, Murdoc called to Noodle, gesturing for her to come and take centre stage with him. 2D backed off to the side and watched them both. Murdoc winked to Noodle and played an over exaggerated version of the feel good inc intro and stopped. Understanding, Noodle played the tune back to him adding more notes as she did so and stopped, Murdoc grinned. The battle between guitar and bass carried on for a while, Noodle eventually giving in and moving back letting Murdoc and a reluctant 2D take centre stage.

Murdoc gave out a two minute melodic riff on his bass before grinning (showing off his pointed teeth) to the audience and starting to play the intro to feel good inc, the other band members following suit. Unhappily, 2D gave a fake smile and started to sing Feel Good inc, half looking at the audience, half watching the sweating and trembling Murdoc look increasingly ill as he continued to play the bass.

City's breakin' down on a camel's back
They just have to go 'cos they don't know whack
So all you fill the streets it's appealing to see
You won't get out the county, 'cos you're bad and free...

A Few Minutes Later:

(Shake it shake it, sh-shake it shake it)
Feel good
(Shake it shake it, sh-shake it shake it)
Feel good
(Shake it shake it, sh-shake it shake it)
Feel good
(Shake it shake it, sh-shake it shake it)
Feel good

They were near the end of the song just a little bit longer and that would be it, just a little longer and Murdoc'd excuse himself off the stage, telling the audience that 2D looked like he needed a break. Sweating profusely and shivering, Murdoc gave another fake demonic grin to the audience, he was fine, he was ok, he could do this, it was all just a matter of-

Windmill, windmill for the land
Turn forever hand in hand
Take it all let on your stride
It is ticking, falling down

The lights looked so bright… Had they always looked so bright? He turned his head to look at 2D, lights dancing off his blue hair and making it shimmer, Murdoc smirked drunkenly at the colours as he continued to play. 2D noticed the smile and returned it, mistakenly thinking Murdoc was giving him a sign that he feeling was better, relieved 2D turned back to face the audience giving out a real smile as he continued to sing.

Love forever, love is free
Let's turn forever you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?

His vision getting more and more blurry, Murdoc continued to play, facing the audience but his eyes on the bright neon blue hair that bounced around the stage as 2D sang. Even the hair began to get blurry, slowly fading from view, Murdoc hoped this vison problem was down to an electrical fault no one was mentioning, but knew better.

Don't stop, shit it, get it
Should be proud your captains in it
(Feel good)
Steady, watch me navigate
Haha haha ha
(Feel good)

Don't stop, shit it, get it
Should be proud your captains in it
(Feel good)
Steady, watch me navigate
Haha haha ha
(Feel good)

His vision now so bad he could see nothing but dark figures, Murdoc continued to play along to the beat, facing the area where he knew the audience was gathered. Despite sweating from over two hours of constant playing, Murdoc suddenly felt really cold. He shivered, beginning to have trouble breathing but still not wanting to stop playing, just a little longer.

(Shake it shake it, sh-shake it shake it)
Feel good
(Shake it shake it, sh-shake it shake it)
Feel good
(Shake it shake it, sh-shake it shake it)
Feel good
(Shake it shake it, sh-shake it shake it)
Feel good

Finishing the song, 2D waved to the audience, not noticing Murdoc.

Panting, Murdoc grinned to himself, he'd made it to the end of the song, he'd done it! Looking to where Murdoc knew the audience was he gave out one of his characteristic demonic laughs, raising his fists in the air and shouting into his own mic, "Thank you London! We'll be back after this short bre-", all sound disappeared and Murdoc fell.
