The Ex Returns
Riley knocked on the door of the conference room fidgeting a bit with her the hem of the shirt she was wearing. Hardison glanced her way and looked back at his lap top.
"What?"
"Can we talk...?" she asked cautiously stepping into the room. "Please...I can't take this silence between us."
"What's there to talk about? You're sleeping with my best friend and you didn't tell me," Hardison answered shrugging. "There we talked."
"This is exactly why I didn't tell you," she sighed and sat down in one of the chairs. "I knew you would get pissed off. It wasn't even supposed to turn out this way okay? We were just trying to be casual and well...I love him Alec..." she smiled a bit at the end. "And...and I really would be happy if you could accept that."
"It's not that I don't accept it..it's just...he has a track record Riley. I mean, the man get's around...How do you know he won't cheat on you?"
"I would never do something like that. Especially to your sister..."
Both siblings looked up seeing Elliot standing in the doorway with his arms crossed over his chest. He looked at Hardison with a serious expression.
"I love Riley, and the thought of hurting her makes me sick...cheating on her would be the worst thing I could ever do," he walked over and stood behind Riley's chair.
"Alec...we're telling you now and it's long over due and we're sorry..."
Hardison started to gather his things up and put them in his bag. "I'm sorry...I just, I need more time to fully wrap my head around this...after Luciano..." he trailed off. "I know you would never lay a hand on her, but you have to understand where I'm coming from Eliot."
"He'll come around," Eliot rubbed Riley's shoulders.
"I don't know...I think we really upset him..." she looked up at him. "I haven't seen Alec this upset since I hacked into the Oscars database and told him the winners."
"You hacked into the Oscars database?" Eliot raised an eyebrow.
"I was grounded...I had nothing better to do..." she shrugged and stood up. "I'm gonna go and take Sparky for a walk...I'll be back later okay?" she kissed his cheek and grabbed the dog's leash whistling for the dog as she walked off.
"Have you seen Riley? She and I were going to the hardware store," Parker frowned as she walked over to Eliot.
"She took Sparky for a walk but she should've been back by now...did you try her cell?" he asked.
"Straight to voice mail," the blond answered.
Eliot frowned and grabbed his phone dialing her number and pressing the speaker button.
"Hi, you've reached Riley. I can't come to the phone right now because I'm totally not hacking into NASA. Leave a message after the bark."
He hung up. "Did you ask Hardison?"
"He's taking a nap," she answered. "I didn't want to wake him."
"I'll go see if I can find her. You stay here if she comes back," Eliot told her as he got up and grabbed his keys.
He almost fell over when Sparky ran up to him and licked his face.
"Hey buddy, where's Riley huh?" He pet the dog to calm him down frowning a bit. "And what's this?" he picked up the small bag tied around the dog's collar. He dumped the contents into his hand. Riley's keys, a prepaid cell phone and a flash drive
Sparky sat at his feet licking his paw; The phone started vibrating and he answered.
"Hello?"
"Hello Eliot."
He narrowed his eyes and growled. "We had a deal Luciano. You promised to leave her alone."
"Promises are meant to be broken Spencer."
He could almost hear the smirk in the other man's voice.
"If you hurt her, I swear-"
"Now now, I haven't hurt her...not yet anyway. And I don't plan to as long as she behaves and you do what I say. I have to go now, I'll be calling again soon so stand by like a good henchman."
The line went dead after that. It took all of his self control not to break the phone in his hand as he went back upstairs with Sparky. No one messed with Eliot's girl and got away with it.
