HONDA IS KISSING MIHO. Mai caught Hiroto Honda kissing Miho Nosaka. What…Mai couldn't help but to think, what in the world is going on? At first, Mai thought that it was a trick from her eyes, some kind of game of the light. But no. Her eyes weren't deceiving her. She is seeing the truth.

Honda is kissing Miho.

This…didn't make any sort of sense to Mai, because for one thing, Mai could have sworn that Honda likes Shizuka-no, scratch that. Honda liked Shizuka. This was all past tense now.

Mai quickly looked away, baffled at what she just seen. Since when? Since when Honda and Miho go out? How long have they been going out? And more importantly…when was Honda going to tell them?

Mai shook her head, and she continued her way toward the counter to get a drink. She was being ridiculous! Mai wasn't the type of person to get into people's business, especially Honda's. In fact, wasn't it only natural that people find out of these sorts of things on their own?

But Mai couldn't help but to think there was something off about Honda and there was something off about Miho as well. But she couldn't put her finger on it.

LATERS…

Three days after the incident of a 'missing' Jou, Mai decided to go and visit Shizuka and Jonouchi.

After Mai knocked on the door after a couple of times, she was immediately greeted by Shizuka, whose smile immediately vanished as soon as she saw who was at her door.

Mai raised an eyebrow, "What's with that face?" she teased, "I knew I came in surprise but I didn't know I would be that unwanted." Shizuka shook her head, her carefree smile returning. She let Mai in, and immediately welcomed her to the sofa.

"Where's Jou?" Mai asked as soon as she took a seat on the sofa. Shizuka immediately went into the kitchen; she didn't seem to have heard what Mai had asked. "What would you like to drink?" she bellowed as she looked into her refrigerator.

"Uh, water please," Mai replied, then she repeated, "Where's your brother?"

"Oh, uh…"Shizuka reached for a glass and began pouring water into it, "He, uh, had the night shift."

Shizuka then came out smiling ear to ear as she handed Mai her glass, "He won't be back until maybe two or three in the morning."

Shizuka took a seat at the loveseat across from Mai. "So, how are you? How's the baby?"

Mai took a drink from her cup and shook her head, "I think the baby's doing great, but not me, I still have morning sickness."

Shizuka nodded, "Yeah, I hear that is expected when you're pregnant." Her eyes then lit up, "Oh! But I hear it goes away after a couple of months or so."

Mai groaned, "I wish it could go away NOW!" she shrugged, "Ah well, it can't be helped."

"And work?" Mai asked, "Is that dragon giving you the respect that you deserve?"

Shizuka nodded, "Mr. Kaiba's ok. He really isn't an evil boss as those rumors say." Mai's eyes suddenly narrowed as she saw Shizuka's smile vanish again, her hands were claps together on her lap jingling nonstop. It was almost as if she was nervous, tense about something.

But Mai decided to ignore it, "You don't say?" she said.

Shizuka nodded, "It's just lies past employees say because of how bad Mr. Kaiba can yell at someone when something's not done right."

At this, Shizuka's eyes widen in horror, "Oh no!" she cried, "I almost forgot!" she quickly got up from her seat and ran into her room.

"I forgot to prepare Mr. Kaiba's stock summery for tomorrow's meeting!" she bellowed from her room.

Mai smiled, as she heard her friend rampage in her room, she decided to go into Jonouchi's room. Mai realized that it's been a while since she came by their home and visit them.

It's been a while since she's been to her best friend's room.

Mai couldn't help but to have a tiny smile upon her face and she turned the knob of Jonouchi's door. She slowly opened the door wider, not exactly knowing what to expect. Just a Jou. She's expecting a room filled with Jonouchi.

A Jonouchi room she did found. She found Jonouchi's bed that still haven't been made, his cloths randomly placed (or perhaps thrown on) the floor, the desk which was placed at the corner also buried under cloths and shoes. His bed was no better. Trash, like empty chip bags, used napkins, empty soda cans, were growing at random places of the floor.

In short, the whole room is a mess, but this was something Mai expected from Jonouchi's room. The only thing missing was the man himself.

Mai took a careful step inside (since his shoes were all over the floor). She missed Jou. Jou, her best friend. Jou who helped and consoled her at her worst times. Although Mai would never admit it, but she needed Jou.

As Mai approached Jou's closet, Mai noticed something a bit off. As soon as she peered in his closet, she gasped. She then looked around the room again wildly. She now understood Shizuka's strange behavior.

As Mai made her way out of Jou's room, she almost bumped into Shizuka who was heading back to the living room expecting Mai there.

When Shizuka saw Mai standing at Jou's doorway, her face immediately turned pale. Shizuka swallowed, "Wh-what are you d-doing in T-Tsuya's room?" she asked nervously.

Mai glared at her, which caused Shizuka to look at the floor, "Jou's not here, is he?" she stated. She watched Shizuka slowly nod, "Of-of course, T-Tsuya's at wor-"

Mai cut her off, "Don't mess with me," Mai said coldly, "You know very well what I mean." Mai suddenly remembered how Yugi's text came to her that day when Jonouchi suddenly disappeared:

[Mai, everything's alright. Shizuka says Jonouchi's fine. Srry about that! :D]

Mai couldn't believe this! Shizuka, Shizuka who knew Mai would be worried at heck, lied to her.

Shizuka took a deep breath, trying really hard not to cry, "I'm…I'm sorry." She apologized. Her eyes were tearing up, "But…but I promised…!"

Mai looked away hastily; she never ever in her life would intentionally make Shizuka cry. She never imagined that Shizuka would be capable of this. Sweet and innocent Shizuka. But Shizuka deserved this; she deserved to feel how she felt!

"You lied to Yugi!" Mai's voice slightly rising, "And you lied to me! Do you have ANY idea of how WORRIED I was?!"

Shizuka gave a big wail of despair, "I'm sorry!" she cried again, "I-I didn't m-mean t-t-to! B-but Tsu…"

Mai cut her off again, "Answer me now!" Mai said, "And I want the truth this time!"

Mai took a step closer to Shizuka, "Where's Jou?" she said in an icy tone.

It took Shizuka a couple of minutes to calm herself down. Mai didn't care, she wanted an answer. Why in the world did Shizuka lied to her? What in the world was Shizuka thinking when she pulled that stunt?

"Answer ME!" Mai yelled.

"THAT'S WHAT I'D LIKE TO KNOW!" Shizuka suddenly yelled.

Mai blinked, "W-what? What do you mean?"

Shizuka hastily wiped her tears, "I…I didn't lie to anyone." Shizuka said quietly, her tone hard. "I-I was o-only keeping a p-promise."

Before Mai could ask any further, Shizuka took several deep breaths, trying to steady her voice, "Tsuya never DID came to pick me up from the train station. That part's true…we looked for Tsuya for several hours until finally, I got a text from Tsuya…"

At this, Shizuka dug in her pocket and got her cell phone out, she began to scroll down in her message box. As soon as she found the particular message, she held up her phone to Mai.

It read:

[ Tsuya: Zuka, I won be coming home 4 a while. Promise not to tell anyone, K?]

Mai didn't believe it. She couldn't understand.

Shizuka placed her cell in her pocket. "I came home immediately after that." She said her voice calmer now, "I couldn't believe it either, but I saw all of Tsuya's clothes gone." She shook her head, "I have no idea where he is."

So Jou's…gone? Why? Why has Jou run away? Why? Why couldn't they have talked about it?

Mai, having no idea what to do next, she then grabbed her purse and walked out of Shizuka's apartment.
