Hey guys! Thank you for the reviews! Here's another chappie! Enjoy!
SETO KAIBA SAT in his desk, twiddling his pen along his fingers as man, who looked no older than fifty, took a seat.
Kaiba's scowl deepened.
The man however, didn't seem to notice Kaiba's frown. He lifted his briefcase and placed it on Kaiba's desk. He smiled and said, "Mr. Kaiba, I bear good news."
At this statement, Kaiba couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow. If there was one thing Kaiba liked, it was results, especially good results.
"Oh?" Kaiba couldn't help but to say. He leaned forward, eager to listen to the man's 'good' news.
The man grinned even wider, he took his seat and then he opened his briefcase…
LATERS…
Yugi just sent another text to Anzu. He sighed. He glanced at the digital clock perched on his drawer.
It was 1:25.
Yugi closed his eyes, Five minutes…Yugi thought. He is going to give Anzu five minutes to respond to his text. If she doesn't answer, it means Anzu didn't want to talk to him. At that thought, Yugi squeezed his eyes shut. It pained him to think that Anzu may be mad at him, and that could possible never forgive him. For what though? What crime did he commit? What could he have done that ruined their valued friendship?
He took his cell phone from his bed and glanced at his message. He hoped he didn't sound too desperate…or eager. He just wanted to talk. He hasn't been able to talk to Anzu in a long while.
[Hey Anzu wassup?]
It didn't sound too desperate, or at least to Yugi it didn't. Yugi glanced at his clock again, to his surprise his clock still read 1:25. He shook his head. It funny how time just like to have its ways.
Yugi heard a knock at his door, "Come in," Yugi said without wasting a second.
Yugi's grandfather came in, "Yugi," he began, "You have a visitor." At this, Yugi straightened himself.
A visitor? Could it be possible that its Anzu?
"Ok, thanks, Grandpa!" Yugi said. Yugi's heart couldn't help but to beat fast. His violet eyes waited eagerly for this 'visitor'.
His grandfather stepped aside to let the guest make their way to Yugi's room.
It was Mai.
MEANWHILE…
Bakura took several deep breaths as he staggered on the wall behind him. He stiffened as he heard an old, familiar laughter run through his head. Bakura shook his head furiously, "Be quiet!" he muttered, "Shut up!"
But the voice in his head was only just figments of an old nightmare that became reality.
"Stupid boy," the voice sneered in his head, "you think that just by confessing everything is going to be alright?"
Bakura couldn't take it anymore, "You're wrong," he whispered out loud, "You're wrong…Yami Bakura…"
Bakura then slowly straightened himself, and headed out of his room, out of his house and headed towards the street.
MEANWHILE…
"Hey Mai," Yugi said slowly as if he couldn't believe that Mai was right in front of him.
"What's up?" he asked tentatively. His eyes couldn't help but to look slightly downwards, he was slightly disappointed. Then his eyes quickly glanced upwards, he didn't want Mai to be burden with his troubles.
Mai glanced at him, which made Yugi hope that she didn't notice his disappointment.
But Mai didn't seem to notice since she shook her head as she made her way into Yugi's room and plopped herself onto his chair, "It's Shizuka," she said, her tone hard.
Yugi couldn't help but to raise his eyebrows in curiosity. Could it be that Mai was upset with Shizuka? Yugi mentally scoffed at the thought. That was impossible, for Shizuka looked up to Mai and Mai cares deeply for Shizuka like an older sister. What could Shizuka have done that would make Mai upset?
Yugi received his answer in the next second.
"She lied to me," Mai said, "She lied to all of us!"
Yugi stared at her, everything that Mai had just said didn't process into Yugi's head, "Wait a sec…" Yugi began, "Shizuka….lying?!" he added incredulously.
Mai, who assumed that Yugi is shocked by the news rather than perplexed by it, continued, "Jonouchi's gone, Yugi. He left."
But Yugi still didn't understand, "Shizuka…" he began slowly, "Lied?!" Yugi shook his head, "Wait a sec…back up." He gave her a confused look, "What?"
Mai took a deep breath, her mind was racing. She had to calm down. "Okay," she said slowly, "I just came back from Shizuka's apartment. I wanted to visit Jonouchi….because…you know…" she hesitated, "It's been a while since I've saw him…" Mai felt her eyes water. Her vision began to blur because of her tears.
Yugi nodded, "Okay," he said, encouraging her to continue.
"But…Shizuka was there…"Mai paused, her mind replaying the incident, "….I should've have known something was wrong, you know? By the way she was acting…"
Mai sighed again, "So I stopped by, Shizuka greeted me at the door. She told me that Jonouchi…Jonouchi…" Mai's voice faltered, and despite her efforts, a tear fell down her cheek.
"Mai…" Yugi said softly…he held out his hand, trying to reach Mai. Mai shook her head, if there was one thing Mai hated it was to be comforted. It reminded her of how much she cried when she was a child, because her parents left her. It reminded her of how weak she was. She hates tears, she hates comfort.
Yugi's lip trembled, his hand was still outreached.
Yugi slowly placed his hands back, he watched Mai took several deep breaths, she continued.
"She…She told me that Jou…wasn't coming home because of work-but…" Mai hastily wiped her tears, and forced herself to look on the floor. She was ashamed of her tears.
"But…I-I saw-no, I went into Jou's room…and-and his" Mai took another deep breath, "His cloths were-were gone. He's GONE Yugi. Jou's gone!"
"J-Jou's gone?" Yugi repeated weakly. Now his mind was racing. How could Jonouchi do this? How could he abandon his friends at a time of need? Especially, when Mai needs him the most?!
It was always Jonouchi. It was always Jonouchi who knew how to deal with Mai. Jonouchi knew how to comfort her, who knew when Mai was feeling sad or upset.
"I'm…" Yugi didn't know what to say. He couldn't believe Shizuka had the nerve to lie to everyone. Shizuka, whose is a terrible liar.
"But…" Mai continued, "Shizuka told me…that…Jou sent her a text…"
Yugi knelt before Mai and peered upon her face, "What did that text say?" Yugi asked calmly.
"That…" Mai hesitated, "That he-he won't be coming home for a while….and-and not to tell anyone…"
Yugi's eyes widen in puzzlement, "Why? Why would he say that?"
Mai shook her head furiously, "I have no idea!" she snapped.
Yugi sighed, he knew Mai didn't mean to snap at him. She was upset about what just happened.
Yugi glanced at his clock, it read it was 2:03. Yugi reached into his pocket, and glanced at it.
There were no text messages.
Yo! So whatch y'all think of this new chappie? Hmm? Hmm? Heehee! As always, read n' review! :)
