DIZCLAIMER: ME NO OWNIO!

FLASHBACK...

JOUNOUCHI KATSUYA PLACED his backpack in front of a glass door. His fists, which were on his sides shook slightly before he could raise his hand to knock on the door. After he'd knocked once, he began to tap his foot impatiently. He didn't bother to knock again, for he knew that the owner of the door would come and greet him any minute.

As every second passed, Jonouchi felt like his heart could literally bust out of his rib cage. He began to curse himself mentally. Was he doing the right thing? Should he have thought things through? Dammit, why couldn't he at least have spoken to Shizuka or Yugi? Surely, they would have given him better advice than this.

Jonouchi tasted blood in his mouth, he had bitten his tongue. Damn, he knew everyone would worry after they realized what he's done. That's exactly why he didn't tell anyone in the first place. Jonouchi's thoughts were interrupted as he heard the wind chimes ringing and the door being unlocked.

A tall man in his early forties answered the door; he wore a white, traditional Japanese style chef uniform. His dark eyes blinked several times, possibly wondering whether or not his eyes were deceiving him. "Jonouchi?" He said uncertainly, he quickly glanced at his watch, "What are you doing here? I wasn't expecting you 'til…" He glanced at his watch again, "In about three hours…"

Jonouchi nodded, "Yeah…" he muttered, "I know….Listen, Pops can…can we talk?"

The older man smiled, "Well of course!" he said cheerfully, he stepped aside and opened the door wider, inviting Jonouchi in.

Jonouchi stepped inside to a dark room filled with dining tables placed around the room; the chairs were placed on the table, upside down with its legs facing the ceiling. To the right side of the large room, was an open kitchen and register.

The chef walked briskly toward the nearest table and took a chair down, gestured for Jonouchi to sit. Jonouchi did not object.

"So," the man said causally as soon as he, himself took a seat.

Jonouchi hesitated, his hands that were on his knees clenched. He then looked up at the chef and said, "I'm gonna do it," he said.

"W-what?" the man said flabbergasted, "But-but….are you sure?"

Jonouchi nodded, Then the man's eyes widened in realization, "I see," he said

PRESENT…

Another month had indeed past, and once again, Yugi and the gang were at their favorite spot at the mall at the food court. Everyone was there, everyone except for Jonouchi. No one has gotten any sort of news as to where Jonouchi could be. The only person who knows if Jonouchi was alive and well is Shizuka, who, a few minutes ago, had glanced at her cell phone and eagerly announced to everyone that her brother had texted her.

At this, everyone turned to Shizuka, the text gotten everyone's attention.

"Well," began Anzu speaking for the gang, "What did he say?"

Shizuka's eyes sparkled with joy as she said, "He says that he's ok!"

Ryuji, who was sitting next to Shizuka, nodded, "That's good to hear," he said.

Shizuka beamed. Mai couldn't help but to feel depressed. She missed her friend so much. Why did Jonouchi only texted Shizuka? Didn't he know how much she had cried and worried over him?Mai shook her head, she was being silly. This is his sister, so of course, naturally, he would want to reassure her that he's ok. But…Mai secretly wanted him to text her.

Everyone smiled, but the smile quickly vanished. Despite the fact that everyone knew that Jonouchi was alright, it still wasn't the same as having him there sitting along with them, enjoying the lunch, laughing amongst them, laughing his obnoxious, carefree laugh.

Ryuji, who noticed the tension, cleared his throat, "So, uh…"He looked around the table. Yugi was giving occasional glances at Anzu. Anzu was sipping her drink. Mai seemed in deep thought. Honda kept glancing around, his whole body tense. Bakura was playing with his chicken strips and Shizuka, was putting her cell phone away.

"So uh…" Ryuji began again, "Anything new….for anyone?"

Bakura shook his head, "No," he replied.

Yugi took a bit out of his hamburger, "Same,"

"Meh," Everyone else replied.

Ryuji sweat dropped, "Well…"

Honda's phone vibrated, he took it out of his phone and glanced at it. He then quickly put it up and got up from his seat, "Uh, guys…" He began nervously, "I…uh…gotta go."

Everyone nodded, "Sure, see ya later," Yugi said.

Honda nodded and quickly left.

"So uh," Yugi began after he cleared his throat, "Anzu, I heard there's this new game at the arcade…"

Anzu didn't look at but said, "Ah, is that so?"

"Shizuka…"Ryuji began, "How's work?" Shizuka beamed, "Oh, it's been great!" Ryuji frowned, "Shizuka, I'm very disappointed with you. If you wanted work, you've could have just asked…"

Mai's ears began to shut down after that, she noticed she had drank all her drink. She decided to get a refil.

She wasn't even at the drink machine when she heard someone say, "…you know I can't leave you."

Mai stopped in her tracks. Why did that voice sound familiar? But…where had she heard that voice?

"…can't go on like this," another voice retorted back. A male. Mai's heart nearly stopped, she knew that voice really well-

Honda?

LATERS…

Honda was about to return to the table with the rest of the gang, but there was somebody already waiting for him.

Mai, who was leaning against the wall, got up and said, "So uh…Miho, huh?"

Honda flushed, "W-who?" he stuttered. Mai rolled her eyes, "Please, don't try to lie. I've already saw you."

She looked at Honda's tormented face, she frowned. "I won't try to get into your business, but…I don't get why you'd kept this a secret…"

"Because I don't love her, ok?!" Honda raised his voice, "I still like Shizuka…but…" he looked away, "It's hopeless…I know Shizuka will never like me,"

Mai laughed softly, "Don't be silly, Honda! You're a nice guy, if you've tried hard enough, I'm sure-"

Honda cut her off, "No," he smiled at her bitterly, "It'll never happen. No matter what I do, Shizuka will never feel the same. Even Ryuji knows that…"

They both turned to look at their table. They saw how Shizuka laughed at a comment Ryuji made. Ryuji just chuckled. Mai clenched her fist. Ryuji…could he still have feelings for Shizuka? Mai felt sort of selfish, even though it was Ryuji who volunteered to watch after her and her unborn child in the first place. There was no guarantee that this child is his anyway. She felt like she was keeping Ryuji on a leash. She watched Ryuji laughed at a joke Yugi just made, she noticed how Ryuji stole a glance at Shizuka.

If she was never pregnant, if she had kept her big mouth shut, would Ryuji had a chance?

Mai turned to Honda, "I think you're giving up too easily." She said.

Honda blinked in bewilderment, "Wh-what?"

Mai glared at him, "You heard me," she said, "Aren't you supposed to be a man? Aren't you supposed to fight for what you think is yours?"

Honda swallowed nervously, his eyes darted back to Shizuka, "Are-are you trying to help me with Shizuka?"

Mai laughed, "No, I'm actually on no one's side. I think if you and Ryuji went after her fair and square….she's bond to fall for one of you…"

Honda glanced back at the spot where he met Miho, Mai frowned, "I'm sorry, kid but you're gonna have to break up with her." Mai said reading his thoughts, "It's unhealthy to be in a relationship with someone you don't love. Plus, think about how she is going to feel when she would beg for more. Much more than you can handle…"

Honda turned away, his hands were shaking. He had no idea what to do next. He then left Mai, Mai wasn't too surprised that he'd react that way.

Mai placed her hand on her swollen belly, she sighed, "Gosh, kid, you probably don't have a mouth yet, but you're already causing so much problems…"
