Chapter 6:Stone
Stone was horrified when he came across an armless, barely conscious Mace Windu. He along with his men had been doing their patrols of the Senate Building, part of their duties as members of the Coruscant Guard. The Jedi had appeared to have fallen from the Senate building; it was a miracle that he was still alive.
"We need a medic stat!" The red striped clone commander bellowed into his comm.
Stone rushed over and immediately began checking Windu's vitals, and for any other wounds.
How the fek did this happen? Stone couldn't believe a member of the Jedi Council was in this sort of shape.
As he was going about checking General Windu's body, he thought he heard Windu murmur two garbled words.
"Skywalker….. traitor", was all the Jedi said before he slipped into unconsciousness.
Is it possible that General Skywalker was behind this? Did he betray the Jedi and the Republic?
Stone's thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of medics and a gurney. General Windu was being prepared for transport to a military hospital nearby, and for some reason, Stone felt like he had to accompany the wounded Jedi. He felt like he needed to protect the helpless Jedi, from what, he did not know.
He was in the medical wing when Order 66 was issued. His comm beeped and upon activating it, he was greeted to the sight of the Chancellor.
"Commander Stone, execute Order 66." Was all the blue figure said before fading away.
Stone grimaced at the thought of following the order, but he was born too, and he wouldn't start disobeying now. Standing from his seat, he strode over to the unconscious Jedi lying still upon the medical bed. Drawing his blaster, Stone placed the barrel flush with Windu's temple; he would give the man a painless death. He finger moved to squeeze the trigger when something stopped him. He remembered the way General Yoda had treated him and his men after they'd crash landed on Florrum. During that time, he was stuck with Jar Jar Binks as their leader, after they'd returned, General Yoda did regular checkups, making sure Stone and his men were alright.
Those don't seem like the actions of traitors
His thoughts were interrupted by the door to the room opening, and a group of clones walked in. Stone fully expected the men to point their weapons at the still breathing Jedi, but to his amazement they leveled their blasters towards their commander.
"Sir we cannot let you kill General Windu", a young clone by the name of Toes spoke from the group.
"And why not Toes? Will you disobey the orders given to you?" While Stone tried to sound menacing, he couldn't bring himself to do so.
"No sir", Toes replied, "but the Jedi have done nothing but fight for us. They wouldn't so easily betray the Republic sir. Something's suspicious about all this."
Stone pondered the thought for a few moments before replying. "Correct you are trooper, I feel the same way. We need to guard him for new, then we need to find him a safe house for the time being, he isn't safe here. "
Many of the clones appeared shocked but followed the orders given to them by Commander Stone.
"Toes, how many of the Guard feel the same way you do?" Stone asked.
"Around 100 so far, there may be more, but for now that's the number." Toes replied to his commander's question.
With a brisk nod of acceptance, Stone exited the room, confident the clones inside would keep General Windu safe. He rushed to the quarters of his men, as he entered he noticed that all of them were gathered around the holonet terminal.
What he saw enraged him. The 501st assaulting the Jedi Temple, both Jedi and clone alike were being slaughtered. Stone couldn't understand why his brothers would so blindly follow orders to kill the ones that had become their allies and friends throughout this war, or the fact that his brothers were being sent to their deaths so needlessly.
Stone spoke up so that every man in the room could hear him. "Once we get Windu to safe house men, we leave this planet and find any Jedi that are still alive.
A chorus of agreement rang through the room.
