Hello everyone! Sorry for the semi-late update! Things just happen and stuff. Ah! I would like to thank Pickle the Chicken(heehee, such a cute name!) for being my 100th review! WOOHOO! :D O.O Here's a new chapter, hope you enjoy it!
DIZCLAIMER: I never will own.
WITH ONLY HER bra and underwear on, Mai gazed upon her reflection on her life size mirror. Her violet eyes examining her body, more specifically around her abdomen. She sighed.
Today, Mai was officially three months and a week pregnant and she could not see the difference of her body. Not even a form of a pouch. She had always assumed that the pregnancy would ruin her body image that she has work hard for, but so far it didn't seem so bad. Other than the morning sickness, she looked good. She almost doubted whether or not if she were truly pregnant.
Then…it came…. "Oh no…" Mai groaned as she made her way to the restroom.
LATERS…
"Hello again, Mai!" Valon greeted Mai cheerfully as he came into the examining room.
Mai glared at him, "I just threw up my breakfast this morning, how do you think I feel?!" she snapped.
Valon laughed, "By the looks of things, you're looking pretty peachy,"
Mai gave him a look; Valon knew it was time to change the subject. "So uh," he began, "Anything you'd like to talk about? Any questions or concerns?"
"I wished you'd stop being all 'professional' right now," she muttered darkly.
Valon shook his head, "Alright, if that's what you want," he placed his clipboard down and gazed upon Mai.
Mai only stared back.
"Mai," Valon said softly, "Would you…would you like to see the baby?"
The baby? Right now? Mai raised her eyebrow, "Wh-what do you mean?" Mai asked, "I thought it was too soon to see the kid…"
Valon shook his head, "At this stage the lil' ankle bitter can be easily seen in the ultra sound."
Mai looked away, she was unsure of what to do. She would have wanted to see the child but at the same time she didn't.
"If you want," Valon continued, "I could give you a referral to stop by the MRI diagnostics center and you could have a looksee today. You're lucky we have one just down the hall of this clinic you just gotta take a left…"
At this Mai couldn't listen to any more of what Valon was saying. Her mind was still on one question: she could see the child now?
"Or maybe later," Valon said noticing Mai's silence, "It's all up to you,"
Mai glanced at Valon, "V-Valon?" she began quietly, "Could-Can you come with me?"
Valon gasped, "W-well, I don't think I-I should…" He loosened his tie, "I mean…"
Mai didn't want to do this, but she felt like she had no choice. She doesn't think she could ever look at the child all by herself. But what was there to be afraid of? It was only an ultrasound?
"Please," Mai had gotten up from the examining bed and placed her hand over his, "Please Valon?" she blinked her tears away, "F-For me?"
Valon's expression softened, he gently caressed Mai's cheek, like he used to do when Mai was troubled, "Okay," he whispered, "I'll see what I can do,"
LATERS…
"So just lay there and relax for me," Valon said as he began to type in the machine.
Valon had somehow gotten permission to be Mai's ultra sound technician and he had somehow gotten them a room.
Mai glanced around the room, the lights were dimmed and it had a strange smell of bleach and other disinfectants like normal hospitals have. It looked like an ordinary room, except the bed looked like it belonged to that of a hospital and the ultrasound was right next to it.
Mai was already in the bed, with her stomach exposed, her arms placed over her head. The room felt so cozy she was sure she's sleep in it.
"Do you know how to work that thing?" Mai suddenly asked, she was starting to feel bad for taking Valon out of his work to do this for her.
Valon laughed, "Let's see if I can," he admitted.
He then began to look around the monitor, his eyes widened with glee as he found a bottle of ointment on the cart.
"Let me put this on you," he said. He took a huge squirt and Mai jumped, as she felt the ointment heat up her abdomen.
"Relax for me," Valon repeated.
He then took the transducer (a wand like thing) and began to press on her stomach. After a minute he would take the transducer and press it on another part of her stomach.
"There it is," Valon said after a few minutes.
Mai hesitated for a moment, but then she gave in.
Her eyes widened as she saw an image of infant on the screen. "Is.." Mai began, "Is that in me, right now?" she pointed at the screen, "Is that really the kid?"
Valon nodded, "Yep, kicking and breathing," Valon turned to Mai, she didn't look to happy to see the infant.
"Y'know…"Mai began after a few moments, "I've been in denial for these past three months.." Seeing the unborn for the first time, made Mai realized that her life will never be the same anymore. She is no longer Mai Kujaku, she is Mai a woman who will soon be a mother. Mai was nervous, so much more nervous than she was before. How in the world is going to care for a child, when she has never cared for anyone other than herself?
Valon, didn't say anything. He had no idea what was going on his friend's head. The only thing he felt right now was jealously, and anger. He stared resentfully at the unborn on the screen. Whoever did this Mai, had clearly won. He, whoever he is, clearly had claimed her before he could have made a move. He wished the child on the screen, could have been his. Or, that Mai wasn't pregnant at all. Then that way…Valon shook those thoughts away. He turned to Mai, whose eyes were now forming tears.
Valon now hated himself for having those thoughts. He didn't realize how much this pregnancy was affecting Mai. Did she ever wanted the child in the first place?
Mai wiped her tears away, "Uh, sorry Valon," She got up from the bed, "I think that's all for today,"
She took her purse and started heading out the room.
"M-Mai," Valon called out to her, "Mai, come back…do you want to talk about this?"
Mai stopped, but she didn't turn around, she shook her head, "No, I'm good." She said.
She walked out the room.
MEANWHILE…
Shizuka stood in front of a door and wondered if this was the best idea in the world. She glanced sideways at the door, then she placed her hands and purse behind her.
Yesterday, she had visited Bakura yesterday, because he had called her. He was crying, so, Shizuka went. Yet when she arrived, he was still crying, but he wouldn't tell her what was wrong. Shizuka had noticed that her close friend hasn't been himself in a while, but he wouldn't tell her why.
Now she's here again, checking to see if he alright. She knocked the door.
A second later, Bakura answered, he smiled, "Shizuka!" he cried, "What a pleasant surprise!"
Shizuka returned his smile, "I just came by to see if you were okay,"
Bakura stepped aside from the doorway, "Please come in," he said. Shizuka did.
After he invited her to sit down, Shizuka gazed at Bakura, her friend seemed better now. But, Shizuka who knew him better than anyone else, knew he was lying.
"Bakura," Shizuka began, "Am I your friend?"
Bakura was stumped at Shizuka's random question, "Of of course," he replied, "Why would you ask that?"
"Because I know you're keeping something from me," she said.
Shizuka reach over and placed her hand over his, "Please, tell me the truth. I know you're not well."
Bakura looked away.
Oh MAH GOODNESS! Just what in tarnation is goin' on around here?! Mmmm! ahaha! another cliffie by me! Hohoho! Anyways, Please read n' review! :DD
