THREE HOURS. It has been three hours since that car's alarm has gone off. It was parked almost six houses down across the street from the apartment Jonouchi is trying to sleep. He wonders where the owner of that car could be. Whoever it was, did he or she not hear the siren blasting? And why wasn't anyone yelling a complaint? A yelling, is a custom, these Americans seem to do often when they're upset. Where in the world was the police? Surely, the way these Americans' temper goes off, there was someone bound to have said something.
It's already three in the morning and Jonouchi hasn't gotten a wink of sleep. Despite the annoying siren blasting down the street, it wasn't the culprit of his lack of sleep. No, there was something that couldn't be seen.
It is his mind. His endless thoughts stubbornly kept replaying and replaying his memories of a certain someone. A certain someone he hasn't seen in seven months.
His mind painted a picture of long, golden locks gently swaying against the wind, precious, red lips slowly curving into a smile, and huge, piercing violet eyes that drives him crazy.
Jonouchi turn over in his bed and sighed, his brown eyes gazing out his small window. The moon is shining bright tonight, there are no stars to accompany her tonight. Just like he.
"Please let me sleep Mai," Jonouchi mumbled softly. He then placed his pillow over his head. He groans. The car's siren still hasn't stopped.
MEANWHILE…
He was going to die. He was certain. He could even feel it. He swallowed for the fifth time already since he had been in this office. A dimly lit office that seemed to have stolen Antarctica's ice, he wished he could run, but there was nowhere to run the doors were guarded by huge, tough looking security guards. And, more importantly…
…he was being watched.
Across from him on the other side of the desk were two piercing blue eyes glaring at him. Those eyes never left his since he came into the room. He wished he'd look away, but that was impossible. He was a prey and he was going to be eaten alive…and with no mercy.
After to what seemed like an eternity, the owner of the blue eyes sighed deeply, a human act but it didn't seem that way to the nervous man. He felt the room become colder. He ridiculously thought if he didn't get out of the room he'd freeze himself to death. Or maybe it wasn't the room…maybe it was his nerves?
"I don't plan on wasting my energy on you," the blue eyed man finally spoke, "But I will say this…you are a fool. You are a fool to cross paths with me,"
"Y-yes," he couldn't help but to stutter, "I-I know…"
There was an eerie glint on those blue eyes, like he was smiling. Like he was enjoying his fear. Truth be told, he probably was.
"Then you already know what happens…" The man finished quietly, his eyes shifted to the nearest guard beside him. Without warning, the guard place two powerful hands on the man's shoulders and quietly took him out of the office.
After the man had gone, Seto Kaiba stood outside his office door, right next to his secretary's desk, fixing his tie. He saw Shizuka walking in, with bag full of food. As soon as her eyes laid on him, she bowed respectfully and held out his food, "Here's your dinner," she said.
"Hn," was all he could say. He took his food and headed back into his office.
A MONTH LATER…
Mai is having a strange craving for noodles. Her eyes spotted a familiar ramen shop up ahead on the street. She would have gotten in, but she was immediately filled with dread. That noodle shop is where Jonouchi used to work. She had no idea where this dread was coming from. It was just a noodle shop. Besides, Jonouchi wasn't there anymore. The shop, she had heard a few days ago, no longer belonged to the original owner of the shop. Instead, it was passed down to a devoted employee(A/N: I've read from somewhere that it's tradition for the owner of the ramen shop to passed his restaurant to his son. If the owner has no son, the son in law inherits the shop. But I am not really sure about this). So there really is no way that Mai would ever come across Jonouchi.
Mai finally passed the shop. She decided that her cravings should be the least of her problems. It was getting late, she should hurry home.
Mai was probably only a few buildings down from the ramen shop, when suddenly, Mai felt this excruciating pain on her lower abdomen, rear and legs.
"W-What is this?" Mai muttered to herself as she excruciatingly knelt down on the floor, hopping to subdue the pain.
Then, the pain was gone. Mai started to get up, but as she did, the pain returned again, this time, much more excruciating than the last. It hurt so much that Mai couldn't even get up and walk.
What is this? What's going on? Could the baby be coming? But…that was impossible, Mai was on her eighth month.
A passerby noticed this, and headed towards Mai. She placed her hand gently on Mai's shoulder and kneeled down. "Miss," She said, "Are you alright?"
Mai couldn't respond, which caused the woman to panic.
The woman looked around, "Help!" she cried, "Someone help! Th-This woman! I-I think she's in labor
MMMMMM! What the frig?! What the frig is going on? Is Mai really in labor? Or could it be something else? MMMM! Please read and review! :3
