Jen opens her mouth about to answer her friends interrogating questions; until Diane deeply exhales and speaks again.
'you know it would put me in a very awkward position love, I work there too. I would have to say something.. You know that don't you?' Diane instantly examines Jens reaction as she stops speaking, waiting on Jens response.
Jen felt sick. Her expression resembled a deer in headlights. Putting on her most convincing voice she answers. 'Diane, NOTHING is going on, nothing at all. I didn't even know Tilly had visited. I have had some students come by to visit, they have been slightly concerned about me. All I can think of is... She's probably just concerned as well….we get on, but only as a teacher and student should do.'
Diane lets out a 'hmm' her face becomes very serious, Jen looks on scared.
'Ok, I will stop this conversation here but Jen ...' Diane leans closer to the frightened woman in the bed. She continues. 'If I find out something IS going on, I will not take it lightly. You are under my roof and I require your respect. You could go to prison and you would only be ruining your life over a silly girl. If you have been abusing your position I will be forced to say something. Do I make myself clear Jen?' Diane leans back against her chair, feeling deflated. She feels the great need to make herself clear to her friend, warning her of the risks; protecting her even.
Little do the pair know, Tilly has now just walked to the door, she was about to enter until she looks into the glass window. She holds a halted position with her hand on the door; she turns ready to walk away; until she hears Jen mention her name.
Jen panics after Diane's warning words. She instantly replies, regretting the words as they fall out of her mouth in a defensive rage.
'Why would I ruin everything I have ever worked for over a little kid. Tilly means NOTHING to me, nothing at all. She's a student and that's it. I am hurt that you would even ask me… I refuse to talk about this any further Diane'. Jens words sting herself causing her to look to the opposite side of the room in disgust.
Diane sits back and looks at her friend, flinching at her rage throughout her speech. She thinks for a minute then places her hand on Jens looking at her sincerely before speaking. 'Ok, I'm sorry love. I was only thinking of you. Maybe Tilly has a crush on you, I don't know; but I know you're not stupid enough to go there. You have worked so hard, you wouldn't throw all that away…. Just be careful around her, people might be quick to jump to conclusions; you know what those places are like…' Diane pauses for a minute before continuing '…Anyway, you need to rest. I will pop in tomorrow ok, you take care'
Tilly panics as she hears Diane bidding her farewells, she quickly runs around a corner, hiding away from Jens visitor.
Diane gathers her handbag, stands up and with that she walks out of the room. Tilly has now been hiding for 5 minutes while Jen is sat in her bed processing what has just happened, she is unable to get her thoughts straight as nervousness and fear strikes her core. However, after 2 minutes of pure gut wrenching dread and panic her thoughts change to relief.
No need to panic Jen, she doesn't know a thing. I need Tilly here, I need to see her. I know that as soon as I see her, I will forget about it. She reaches for her phone on the table in front of her and thinks whether or not to tell Tilly about her visitor today but soon shrugs off the thought thinking it will only cause upset for the teen; She doesn't want to ruin things, they have been getting on so well again recently. With this, Jen unlocks her phone and begins typing a message to her red head asking her to come visit.
However, as she is typing away on her phone Tilly walks in. Jen instantly smiles at her girlfriend placing her phone back to its previous position. She was excited to see her. 'Tilly, I'm so glad your here babeey...I've missed you. You just missed Diane, that was close weren't it...' Jen waits for Tilly to reply, however she just stands by the door.
Jen shrugs it off and speaks again. 'Come sit down'
Jen shuffles her position making room. She reaches out her hand ushering Tilly to sit on the bed with her, smiling showing her perfectly aligned teeth.
Tilly walks over to the side of the bed looking down at Jens hand then up again. The red head looks in her deep brown eyes and says 'No Jen' in an upset and disgusted tone while shaking her head.
