Chapter 4: To meet again one day

Disclaimer: We do not own Pokemon. It all belongs to their original owners. We only own part of the plot and any OC's and OC behavior. (Things that defy Pokemon logic)

KS90: As the chapter may imply, this may have some sad parts in it.

MM014: For those of you who have played Pokemon X and Y should know what's coming up and the scenes may make you cry a bit because they are a bit more dramatized. Or at least make you feel sympathetic toward some of the characters.

KS90: Way to give away so much. -.-

MM014: What? People deserve an honest forewarning before they begin reading.

KS90: Well she's right everyone. Feels are in the chapter.

DD23: *Rushes in all disheveled* WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME WE WERE STARTING SO SOON?!

KS90: We sent everyone the notice. Why didn't you get it?

MM014: *Whispering* Remember that one that refused to be sent? That must've been the one.

KS90: *Long one of those* Oh. I see now. Well anyway, on with the story.

DD23: Enjoy. *Groggily*

Translation:

In this world full of fallacies and contradictions,
of course we'll cave in or be crushed from time to time.
But, if we only keep count of our dissatisfactions,
then the winds will never change in our favor.

When we feel like crying at night, let's cry until our tears run dry.
When we run into a wall, we just need to try a different path.

Since our life is limited, let's keep fighting without giving up.
We keep on searching for the very meaning of our existence,
and that is precisely how we have to live our life.

Needless to say, it wasn't the ideal start of their journey, but somehow no one was upset or angered. But they sure as hell weren't happy. It was more of an indifference with the events that transpired. It gave everyone mixed- (KS90: Ya know what screw the feelings right now! Just get on with it!)

Thomas was rummaging through the bushes crazily as if desperately searching for something. Which he was. "Thomas." Jeremiah said while watching. He put the egg in his bag for now and got no response. "Thomas..." Again no response. "THOMAS!" This time he gave a thwack to his comrade.

"OW! WHAT THE HELL DID YA DO THAT FOR?!" Thomas shouted.

"First, stop yelling. Second, what are you looking for exactly?"

"I heard... something..." Thomas said.

"Something like?"

"Would you think I'm crazy if I told you I heard Dusk actually say words?"

"Well, not really. Some trainers can feel what their partner Pokemon are feeling. Like that bug guy back in Sinnoh, whatever his name was. He can understand Bug Pokemon..."

"No... Not only understand but being able to hear him like he's talking like a human..."

"Uh... I don't understand this 'what if' question all that well..." Jeremiah sighed. Jeremiah heard a faint rustling in the bushes Thomas was standing in. "Thomas... Get out of the bushes..."

"Wha...?" Thomas asked. He stepped out of the bushes for a moment and Jeremiah stepped forward. He knelt down into the bushes and he heard low whimpering. Almost like crying.

"Ah...! It's gonna be OK." Jeremiah said calmly, despite being surprised. "I promise you that we'll help you in anyway you can if you step out of the bushes." Jeremiah held his hand out a bit in hopes of helping this person or Pokemon.

"...Shinx?" A small blue and black four legged Pokemon stepped out of the bushes. It's tail had a pointed star on it and it's hair was rather short (Indicating female Pokemon). The Pokemon had tears in it's eyes. "Shinx..." The Pokemon sounded like it whined.

"Don't worry, everything will be OK." Jeremiah said with a gentle smile. The Pokemon ran into Jeremiah's arms which again surprised him. "Did you lose your trainer? Don't worry we'll find him/her soon."

"That's not the case." Thomas said.

"Huh? How come?" Jeremiah asked.

"Shinx! Shinx!" The Pokemon cried.

"Ah!" Jeremiah gasped. He held the now crying Pokemon in his arms like a small child in his arms.

"The Pokemon's original trainer released this Pokemon and insulted her, calling her 'pathetic' and 'no good' and 'reject'." Thomas said coldly.

"That's awful..." Jeremiah said.

"It can be cruel sometimes, but what are we gonna do about this Pokemon? We can't just leave it..." Thomas stated.

"..." Jeremiah remained silent for a moment until finally he said to the Pokemon "Wanna travel with me?"

"S-Shinx?!" The Pokemon exasperated.

"You heard right!" Thomas exclaimed.

"You can come with me and help me complete the Pokedex. And I can prove that you aren't worthless and weak." Jeremiah declared.

The Pokemon's eyes were now glimmering with a new hope. "SHINX!"

"I'll take that as a yes."

"Got any clue where we are?" Elijah asked Willow. They had been walking in the forest for a while and they were getting anxious.

"Nope." She said rather quickly.

"You sure?"

"Yup."

"So... I say we go that way, following the others." Eli stated.

"Is that a good idea?"

"Well why not? I like my ideas. Despite the times when I mess up which is a lot. 'It's a miracle I'm still alive' some people say." Eli said in a happy tone.

"Uh... OK... Let's follow the trail this way and see where we go, but..." Willow replied.

"But what?"

"I was thinking why not complete this area first." She declared.

"?" Now Eli was totally lost.

"Uh, maybe I should explain. Why not try and complete the Pokedex BEFORE finding the others? It'll be more productive than wandering in circles."

"I like that idea!" Eli said happily, "It'll be fun!" Eli just darted away without a second thought into the woods.

"E-Eli?!" Willow exclaimed following after him. "Don't go and-"

"Wah!" Eli tripped over another rock. 'At least he didn't bring anything down with him...' Willow thought with relief.

Dese was down the path rather quickly and only leaving a trail behind her as Rika struggled to catch up. "Dese!" She called, "Slow down, I can't keep up with you!"

"Huh?" Dese stopped for a minute and turned around. Rika was now able to catch up to Dese.

"I appreciate your determination to find everyone but you need to take a moment and chill out."

"I am calm." Dese said a bit frustrated, "I just think we need to find them fast."

"Dese. They can take care of themselves, they're not that little." Rika walked up to Dese and placed a hand on her shoulder, "Trust me. If they weren't prepared then that Professor wouldn't have chosen them. Well, I may have some doubts but there is a valid reason why we're chosen."

"I guess so. But the thing is- Well, you know. About Jeremiah."

"How do I not know? I'm one of his closest friends and witness to all of those mishaps. But he always had a smile to give. Unless I'm thinking of someone else. Yup, it's Jeremiah."

"... I guess that's valid. Although I question the other three of this Chosen Kalos kids thing. Not Tierno Shauna and Trevor, they're alright, but why the remaining ones..."

"Ah I see what's going on here~." Rika said slyly.

"W-what?!" Dese asked.

"You probably like one of them huh?"

"Hell no!" Dese shouted with a lot of attitude behind it. "What in hell's name would give you that sick idea?!"

"The urgency in finding them all." Rika stated bluntly, "It's OK. I'm sure feelings might be mutual."

"Get whatever sick thoughts you have out of your head now..." Dese said with a glare. "Don't blame a girl for curiosity."

"Whatever. I say let them come to us."

"What are you trying to say?" Dese asked.

"What it sounds like, let's take our time. They'll find us when they can. Remember: Not weak. Big kids. Not babies. Duh."

"Alright. Let's see if there's any Pokemon of interest in this forest, I wanna catch a new one. Just to have three."

"It would be nice if I caught another Pokemon too. I can't just walk around with Zigzagoon all the time. I wouldn't be a very productive Pokemon trainer. I'm gonna go and find a Pokemon while you do it too OK? No obsessing over the others."

"Yeah yeah." Dese sighed. 'Time to find a new Pokemon... But where to look?' She glanced around herself until she found one she deemed worthy. It was yellow and had a lightning bolt shaped tail but with a rounded tip and had red cheeks. (MM014: Go ahead guess, I dare ya.) This Pokemon was taking a siesta on top of a tree and seemed pretty calm. "Go Caterpie!" Dese threw a Pokeball and her Caterpie came out. "OK Caterpie, you see that sleeping Pokemon up there?"

"Caterpie!" Replied her Pokemon.

"I want you to use String Shot on that Pokemon to keep it in place for when I capture it, understand?"

Caterpie nodded. The Pokemon turned and fired a string of web at the sleeping Pokemon. The Pokkemon opened it's eyes to only find itself trapped under a sticky net. "Pika?!" It cried in surprise at it tried to break free.

"I don't think so! Go Pokeball!" Dese threw a Pokeball at the trapped Pokemon and it went into the Pokeball. It wiggled three times and finally clicked. Dese's Pokedex beeped indicating a new Pokemon entry was added. "Piece of cake." She said in victory.

'Pikachu, The Mouse Pokemon: Pikachu store electricity in their cheeks and can release high volts if wanted.'

"Woah, then I better hope it doesn't shock me." Dese said with a laugh.

Meanwhile Rika was now engaged in a battle with a blue monkey Pokemon and it was putting up a good fight. "OK Zigzagoon use Headbutt!" Her little raccoon dog charged forward and rammed it's head against the monkey. The monkey retaliated with a blast of water from it's mouth and hitting Zigzagoon. Zigzagoon got right back on it's feet and took it's battle stance again. "Zigzagoon use Quick Attack this time!" Zigzagoon rammed into the blue monkey in a blurred motion. "Time for a Pokeball! Go Pokeball!" Rika threw the Pokeball and as usual the Pokemon was caught and the Pokemon and the Pokemon's data was added to her Pokedex. "Well that cakes care of that." "Rika said in victory.

'Panpour, the Spray Pokemon: 'The water stored inside the tuft on it's head is said to be full of nutrients that help plants grow large.'

"What a lovely Pokemon." Rika said, "Hmm, water huh?" Rika then looked at the Pokemon's entry and in the back of her mind she heard waves. She gasped a bit and brought herself back to reality. She closed the Pokedex for now. "Dese!" She called out.

"Hmm? What is it?" Dese called back.

"All set?"

"I guess."

"Wanna go find them now?" Rika asked sheepishly.

"You just- But- I- Alright." Dese huffed. They both wandered down the trail they tore threw moments ago.

"So Thomas, how were you able to tell what Shinx was saying?" Jeremiah asked as they were strolling aimlessly.

"Huh?" Thomas asked to be sure he heard that right.

"It's like you didn't even know this Pokemon so there was no real bond or relation. And somehow you worked like a translator. Explain."

"Well, how should I?" Thomas asked.

"I don't know! That's something you're supposed to know right?"

"To be honest I don't know... It just happened like she was speaking human. Same with Dusk."

Jeremiah gasped. "You mean it happened before?!"

"Yes..." Thomas admitted a bit embarrassed.

"... Alright. I don't see anything wrong."

"Huh?!" Thomas exasperated in shock.

"I admit strange things do happen but there has to be a reason." Jeremiah stopped walking and Thomas did too. "And we all find out these reasons, eventually, but we can't change them..."

"Is this some talk about destiny?"

"Yes." Jeremiah said bluntly, "Warning me and my sister are very blunt."

"Duly noted. So you're not creeped out or anything?"

"'Course not." He said with a smile. If anything, Thomas felt relieved a bit however he still had somethings gnawing at him. But before he could organize his emotions they heard a scream not too far off in a section nearby. "Sounds like trouble." Jeremiah stated, "Let's go!" Jeremiah and Thomas ran off in the direction of the scream. 'That voice it sounded like...' Jeremiah paused in his own thoughts to recollect how the voice sounded, 'Elijah!'

Things weren't looking bright for Eli since his Pokemon weren't in top condition and how the horde of bug Pokemon surrounded him. "L-leave me alone please! I did nothing, you can't prove anything!" The Pokemon just glared and let out a low growl. "Um... Fennix Flare, please stand up and fight..."

"Fen..." The Fox whined. Eli's Fennekin was too tired to keep going and Serenity (His Ralts) was already knocked out.

"Help! Please! Lord if I die please make sure my Pokemon go to good people, and let me be buried in my best clothes!" He was being hysterical and he was on his knees praying.

"Eli. Don't worry..." He heard a faint voice.

"God... Is that you?"

"No... It's Jeremiah..."

Eli gasped, "Have they already taken a poor soul?! What has this world come too?!" He cried.

"Oh for the love of... Go Ches! Use Vine Whip!" Green vines came out of the bushes and whipped back two Pokemon. "Eli!" Jeremiah cried as him and his Pokemon emerged from the background.

"Jeremiah! You're alive!"

"Of course I am! What are you high?"

"Don't be ridiculous I don't do plants." Eli responded.

"Whatever, take this Potion and restore your Fenniken." Jeremiah handed Eli a potion.

"His name is Fennix Flare!" Eli corrected.

"I don't care, just do it. Ches use Tackle!" Ches rammed himself into one of the Bug Pokemon, managing a knockout. Eli sprayed the Potion on Fennix Flare and is Pokemon was in good fighting condition.

"Alright Fennix Flare, now that you're well use Ember!" The fox spat out a small piece of flame and struck another Pokemon, causing another knockout.

"Where's Thomas?" Jeremiah asked getting a bit nervous more Bug Pokemon kept showing up. "Eli we have to make a run for it!"

"I already tried, the Bug's just surrounded me and I was forced to fight. My poor Serenity suffered the consequences!"

"OK give it a rest drama queen." The bug Pokemon were trying to gang up on Ches and Fennix Flare, but they were holding out somehow. "Ches Tackle again!"

"Fennix Flare use Ember again!" Both attacks were easily evaded and countered with a series of String Shots, Tackles, Poison Stings, etc. "Uh, Jeremiah do you have anything that'll help?"

"No, I don't have an item to counter poison."

"P-poison?!"

"Don't worry, it's not deadly, it only causes the Pokemon to faint. Humans on the other hand..."

"So poisoning must've taken down Serenity... Great..."

"She's just knocked out." The bug Pokemon were easily gaining an edge in the battle. "Thomas! Stop playing games and help us!" Jeremiah shouted.

Thomas was just watching the battle. The look of horror and conflict was apparent on his face. He didn't want his friend's to get hurt however he couldn't sacrifice the health of his Pokemon so easily. 'Damn it... What do I do... WHAT DO I DO?!' He shouted in his head.

'Thomas!' a voice called to him. He gasped and looked around him. 'Thomas. Your friends are in trouble. Why aren't you going to help them?'

"Huh? Who's there?"

'It's me. Dusk. The one you fought for so valiantly.'

"D-Dusk?!" Thomas exasperated.

'Yes. I know of your ability to communicate with Pokemon.'

"A-ability?"

'Looks like you're all still learning. One thing at a time I suppose. But back on the matter, why do you refuse to let us fight?'

"It's just... I don't want anyone to carry anymore scars because of me..."

'What? Some dumb old mark is what your worried about? There are somethings that are worth a scar or two.'

"... You're right." Thomas emerged from the bushes and threw his Pokeball. "Go Dusk!"

"Froak!" The blue frog emerged from the Pokeball. (I'm ready.) (KS90: Translations from time to time)

"OK Dusk use Water Gun!" Thomas commanded. The Blue frog fired blasts of water from his mouth and hit the bug Pokemon. And he also struck rapidly so he was sweeping through a lot of them.

"Eli, now's our chance! Ches use Tackle!" Ches once again rammed himself into some bugs while Eli had Fennix Flare spewing embers. Until finally all the Pokemon were knocked out or gone. "Phew they're finally gone." Jeremiah sighed. Now he turned to Thomas with an angry look on his face, "What the hell took you so long!" He shouted.

Music: Sora no Kiseki SC: The Feeling of Dancing with the Wind

"Sorry... It just took me a moment to know what's truly important." And he gave Dusk a small wink.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Thank you," Eli broke in.

"Oh it was nothing. That's what friends are for after all."

"Oh I love when the knight and rogue came to save their beloved magician. What a time..."

"What the hell are you talking about?" Thomas asked.

"It was a miracle that your knight came to help, magician." Jeremiah said completely ignoring Thomas's question.

"Eh?! Jer, you know what he's saying?" Thomas whispered.

"Nope not a clue." Jeremiah replied, "But he does have a sort of look in his eyes. So it has to make sense. He must be the magician while I'm the knight and you're the rogue."

"N-now wait just a second..." Thomas whispered back.

But before he could say more they heard voices calling out to them. "Jeremiah! Thomas! Prissy boy!" Dese called.

"Dese! We're over here!" Jeremiah called backed with a smile on his his face.

"Now wait just a minute, did your sister just call me Prissy boy? I get the feeling I won't live it down..."

"Well you can't deny inevitable." Jeremiah said. Dese and the others finally got to where they were standing. Elijah, Jeremiah and Thomas returned their Pokemon back to their pokeballs.

"There you guys are. You had me worried." Dese sighed.

"It's OK. We weren't alone we had our Pokemon." Jeremiah replied, "So there's no need to worry." (KS90: This will NOT be his catch phrase.)

"Eli, have you gotten all the Pokedex data for this area?" Willow asked.

"I think so. But how did you find us?"

"We followed the commotion over to here," Rika answered, "Since you guys are loud it wasn't hard for us to find you."

"Now just you listen here missy..." Thomas replied with an 'are you serious' look on his face.

"Guys... I hate to break up such a wonderful reunion and all, but we need to get back to Shauna and the others. We kinda left them hanging." Dese interrupted.

"Somehow I get the feeling they had an easy time on this trip..." Jeremiah sighed.

"The road's this way. C'mon." And so the group followed Dese back to the main road and guided everyone to the area where Shauna, Trevor, and Tierno were waiting for them to get back.

"Hey look! They're back!" Shauna exclaimed. "We were soooooo worried!"

"Aw thank you Shauna." Jeremiah said with a light smile.

"Sorry we took so long," Dese said, "But we're here now."

"Good. The sun might be setting soon." Trevor said, "And there isn't that much road left... We could rush outta these woods or we could just spend the rest of the day here-"

"WE'RE GOING NOW!" Everyone else said in protest

"Ok, OK geez." 'What's with their attitude?' Trevor thought.

"Let's just get out of this hell hole already..." Thomas stated.

Music ends and replaces with: Sora no Kiseki the 3rd: Someday to Meet Again

The Kalos kids stepped out of the Santalune Forest all together and saw the lake reflecting the light of the setting sun. That's how you know you're on Route 3, also known as Ouvert Way. "Ya know this does make a very pretty sight..." Shauna said.

"Yeah... The sun is beginning to set, what are we-" Rika was saying however she was cut off by Trevor.

"Wait a moment Rika. I've got something I've been withholding from all of you..."

"Well, out with it. Tell us." Dese said.

"This is where Professor Sycamore's request becomes uneasy. He requested we all split up on Route 3..." Trevor said with regret in his voice. This news shocked everyone to no end, except for Eli since he was present when Professor Sycamore declared it. Questions were thrown like 'Are you serious?! This is obviously a joke right?!' and statements such as 'No way... You can't be serious! I don't believe that!'

"P-please everyone, calm down! I don't know Professor Sycamore's logic here but he wrote it down on this." Trevor produces a slip of paper from his back pocket.

Dese snatched the paper from is hands and read it aloud. 'Trevor, I wish for you to tell the others that there time traveling altogether will be at it's end once you reach the end of the Santalune Forest. I know it must be painful for spending a certain amount of time together may be difficult to part ways so soon but they must know this is for the best. My sincerest apologies for any heart break I may cause with this request... ~Sincerily, Professor Sycamore.' Dese was trembling now in sadness and anger. "How could you keep this from us for this long Trevor?!" Dese exploded.

"Dese..." Jeremiah said in a soft and sad tone.

"You could've given us a heads up to get better prepared for this kind of news!"

"Dese."

"Why should we have to separate anyway?! He said request, meaning we don't have to-"

"Dese! Shut up for a second and and think!" Jeremiah declared. Dese looked at him and shut up like how she was told. "I think I know why."

"You do?!" Everyone cried in unison.

"Well, think about it. How are we gonna become better people if we're always depending on one another on this journey? Sure it's a bit hard to say goodbye but, this is the only way we can... um..."

"Find ourselves?" Rika suggested.

"Something like that. I guess." Jeremiah replied.

"... I guess so..." Dese sighed mournfully.

"Like we can argue with that logic." Thomas said.

"Well... I guess we'll see each other around?" Willow asked with a small smile.

"Hey, maybe when we can all get together soon. Maybe in Lumiose, I'm sure of it." Elijah tried to cheer everyone up.

"OK, then it's settled." Shauna said, "We're to meet up in Lumiose. Promise?" Shauna held out the back of her hand.

"I promise." Dese almost agreed immediately. She put her hand on top of Shauna's. Then she was followed by Rika and she gave a knowing look to Dese.

"I promise too." Jeremiah said as he placed his hand in the center. On top of his hand was Willow, then Tierno and Trevor. The only ones left were Thomas and Elijah. "Well guys are you promising anything?"

"I am. Heck I live in Lumiose." Eli put his hand in and all that was left was Thomas.

"What are you waiting for Thomas? You're in this group just like the rest of us." Jeremiah said.

"No use in denying or we'll stay like this forever until you promise~!" Shauna stated.

"Like I've got a choice now...?" Thomas walked up and placed his hand right on top.

"So it's a promise!" Shauna said cheerfully. And so, the group finally parted ways despite them going in the same direction. (Walked at different speeds and at different times since it's the same road.)

And so, the grand tale can finally set on course with a bit of a bumpy start... So shall we see how the events unfold.
