Chapter 5: Learning the ropes
KS90: Welcome back fellow Kalosians and tourists from other regions. Last chapter was a bit of a close call for our protagonists and a bit touchy-feely here and there.
MM014: The last chapter was VERY moving for some of the characters.
DD23: I'm not much of a 'touchy-feely' person for stories. I'm more 'punchy-hurty'.
KS90: Oh this chapter will punch and hurt YOU.
DD23: What?!
KS90: Nothing, nothing. Anyway, on with the chapter!

Translation:
In this world full of fallacies and contradictions,
of course we'll cave in or be crushed from time to time.
But, if we only keep count of our dissatisfactions,
then the winds will never change in our favor.
When we feel like crying at night, let's cry until our tears run dry.
When we run into a wall, we just need to try a different path.
Since our life is limited, let's keep fighting without giving up.
We keep on searching for the very meaning of our existence,
and that is precisely how we have to live our life.
It had only been one night since they had split up and they made sure to sleep far from each other on the Route (Kinda like camping spots) And morning had already come about. Like the early bird he was Jeremiah woke up first from the others. He put his hat right back on his head and packed up his sleeping bag and pokeballs. Once he made sure all of his things were accounted for he stood up and stretched. 'Good morning world and all who inhabit it.' He said in his head, 'Yesterday sure was unanticipated. But I gotta keep believing there's a reason why this happens...' With that thought said and done he began to continue to walk down the trail.
'It's really bright this morning...' He continued to say to himself. 'Reminds me of yesterday... Well I guess that's spring weather and days. Good thing it's not raining on us, otherwise that would suck for all of us. Plus I don't wanna be attacked in the rain again by- no I can't let those thoughts come back. I need to stay strong not only for my sister but my new friends and Pokemon. Especially Shinx. Of all the no good rotten people who could dare abandon Shinx because she's 'worthless'. Ha! I'll show them!'
"Hey you!" a random voice called out. Jeremiah turned with a bit of a gasp and saw a boy around Shauna's age running up to him. "We should battle!"
"Wait, what? I'm lost. Why should I battle you? I don't even know you."
"Huh? You mean to tell me you're older than me yet you don't know the basics of being a Pokemon trainer?!"
"Um... nope, not really. I'm just on this journey to complete a Pokedex Professor Sycamore gave me."
"Is that what you really wanna do in your spare time? Just fill up a Pokedex." The boy asked in a concerned tone.
"Well I was requested to do so. So I will carry out this request along with the other chosen Kalos kids. Where ever they could be..."
"Well, is that all you wanna do with your time?"
"Honestly... I'm not sure..." Jeremiah said in a low tone.
"Hey! Don't get sentimental on me now!" The boy said with enthusiasm which perked Jeremiah up a bit. "Say, how about I help you determine what you're gonna do?"
"Hmm? And how do you propose you do that?"
"A battle! Between my Rattata and one of your Pokemon!"
"A battle? And that'll help?"
"Yes. It'll also keep your Pokemon in top physical condition. That is, if you keep them properly healed and what not."
"Alright then. Let's battle!" Jeremiah said. "Go Bunne!" Jeremiah sent out his Bunnelby and his Bunne took a fighting stance.
"That's the spirit! Let's go Rattata!" The young boy threw out what appeared to be a purple and white rat like Pokemon. "Meet my Rattata! It's no ordinary Rattata though, just like my cousin's back in Johto it's top percentage!"
"Once your done bragging can we start?" Jeremiah asked.
"Oh yeah! Rattata use Quick Attack!" The rat enveloped itself in a blurred light and went charging for Bunne.
"Bunne hit 'em with Tackle to counter it!" Bunne tried to rush forward however it was already hit with Rattata's Quick Attack before it got a chance to pounce. "Hey, what happened?!"
"Hmph, didn't you know? Quick Attack is a move that's too fast to counter and it goes first almost every time."
"Oh yeah. I forgot that I watched a documentary on normal type moves with my family before. In fact we've watched all 18 so far."
"Less idle chat! More battle! Rattata use Tackle!"
"OK then, Bunne use Sand Attack!" Bunne took one of it's ears and dug into the ground and launched a fistful of sand into Rattata's face, blinding it and stunning it for a brief moment. "Alright~! Now use Tackle attack Bunne!" Bunne took the opportunity to hit Rattata with a Tackle. Rattata took the full on hit and was knocked back a foot or two.
"Ah, Rattata!" The boy cried out. But the Pokemon stood back up now unblinded and ready for more combat. "That's more like it! Rattata use Quick Attack again!"
"Leer, Bunne!" 'Oh man, what a rush! I've never felt so excited. This is a good excited though, and I'm enjoying it so far!' Bunne glared at Rattata with a sort of 'evil eye' look and once again stopped Rattata in it's tracks. This time in fear. "Alright! Bunne now time to strike the Rattata with your Quick Attack!" The Bunnelby did as told and struck Rattata blindingly fast. And that won him the battle.
"Aw what?! I lost?" The boy said as he returned the Pokemon to it's Pokeball. "Oh well that's life." Jeremiah returned his Bunnelby back to his Pokeball. "That was some match huh?"
"Oh um... Yeah. I had a lot of fun. And I also reached a decision."
"You did?" The boy asked.
"I've decided I want to participate in many more battles like the one we had."
"Then it sounds like you're interested in Gym Battles for the Pokemon league."
"Oh um, really? I'm not that great."
"Are you kidding me?! You were fantastic! And let me tell ya something, you got potential as a Pokemon trainer." The boy exclaimed.
"W-well... Thank you." Jeremiah was taken aback by the sudden compliment. "Maybe I will take in to the Gym challenge. Thank you... I'm sorry I don't know your name, what was it?"
"Oh the name's Jimmy. You probably heard of my cousin, Joey. We have top percentage Ratatta's." Jimmy gloated.
"So I see why you think I got potential..." He said with an exasperated sigh, which went unnoticed by Jimmy. "Well I will see you around Jimmy." Jeremiah said as he continued down the trail.
"Later." Jimmy replied heading in an opposite direction. "Oh wait a sec!" Jimmy stopped and turned around and caught up with Jeremiah. "I forgot to tell you that there's a Gym in the town ahead. So if you really ARE looking to face some Gym leaders then your first stop should be Santalune City."
"Oh, that's very helpful of you Jimmy. Thank you. Any signs or landmarks to help me know I'm in Santalune?"
"Well as soon as you walk in there's a sign that says Santalune City. Also there's a fountain with a Pokemon with flowers on it. Is that any help?"
"OK got it. I will see you around." Jeremiah went back on his designated trail to the next town while the other boy went back to the Santalune forest.
Normally, Dese started her mornings off right when she wakes up in the morning. But to her surprise she woke up with a little blue mouse Pokemon bouncing lightly up and down on her chest. As soon as she saw the Pokemon she let out a bit of a yelp of shock and confusion. The little blue mouse hopped down quickly and ran back a few feet.
"What in the world-?!" She exclaimed. She was breathing heavily from her surprise and she took a moment to examine the Pokemon with closer detail. The Pokemon had an all blue body with white cheeks As she did she put her black and green shoes back on and replaced her flat hair into a ponytail held with a black ribbon. The Pokemon was trembling a bit from fear of what the human was gonna do. "Uh, hey there little fella...?" She started off. "I didn't mean to scare you and I think you weren't trying to scare me... So what's a little Pokemon like you doing out here by your lonesome?"
"Azu-Azurill~!" The Pokemon chimed at the sudden kindness. "Azurill, Azurill!"
"Oh I see." Dese lied. She had no clue what on earth this Pokemon was saying, so she was hoping to wing it and see what comes up.
"Azu?" The Pokemon questioned.
"Oh um..." 'Crap what am I supposed to say without sounding like an idiot?' She thought. She remained silent with an awkward smile on her face. "Listen, never mind me!" She finally came up with, "So wanna let me try and catch you? It's really important."
"A... Azu." Azurill shook it's head and pouted facing away from Dese.
"What?! But why?! This is very important please!" She pleaded.
"Azurill." The Pokemon simply said. The Pokemon turned and hopped away from Dese.
She sighed, "Can't I get a break? First I can't be with my brother and now this Pokemon is trying to play with me?! I don't like this one bit! UGH!" She packed up her things quickly and took off after the blue mouse Pokemon.
Elijah woke up in a very... unusual manner. When he got up he opened his green eyes and stretched while giving a soft moan. "Hmm..." He hummed as he sat up while swaying a bit from side to side. "What's for breakfast, I-" He broke out of his daze to realize he wasn't at his home. In fact, he wasn't even in a building. "Oh yeah, I was camping." Eli stated out loud. "I'm silly. I simply just need to stop camping to get home~!" Eli stood up and put his white shoes, black and green zip-up jacket and his white knit cap with it's green buttons. He returned all of his supplies into his bag. He puts on his bag and stands up. He had his eyes closed for a minute and when he opened them, he was still in the same spot. "Huh? Why am I not home?!" He asked in almost surprise. "Do I... walk?" He asked to know one in particular. He used the silence as his answer and began to walk along the route.
In Santalune city, the Trainer school was located in the edge of town. Walking out was a girl with dark brown hair with a purplish tint to it and brown eyes. She was wearing a boater hat with a red ribbon on it with a pink flower in it. She also had a pleated white skirt and a glitzy sparkle scarf top. She wore pink knee socks and pink high tops. "Another day at school finished..." She yawned.

Try to wait a while, anyone is
Totally different from yesterday
Try to look for a while
Even the silhouette of the side of your face is mature
Wait [you],
Your wish to make excuses can be understood
Because if the world is like this,
Nothing's is going to get done
Right! The good breeze
Now! want to breathe
Can't be helped, can't be helped
Tomorrow my wind will blow so
Keep the doors in the world open
Tomorrow my wind will blow so
Your cowardice
Will [be] be blown away completely
A gorgeous life!
