Chapter 6: Daddy's Promise

KS90: OK, We're doing a brief day time skip to get our story's major plot points in motion.

MM014: So to avoid confusion we'll clear things up in detail. And we're talkin' a WHOLE LOT of detail.

DD23: So are you talking about ranting on about one little time skip that can be solved with just a little foot note?

KS90: We want to get the message across. Problem?

DD23: Redundancy: Yes. Problem: Not really.

KS90: Glad to hear that.

MM014: OK guys, game faces! Time to go on with the chapter!

KS90 and DD23: Right!

Translation:

In this world full of fallacies and contradictions,
of course we'll cave in or be crushed from time to time.
But, if we only keep count of our dissatisfactions,
then the winds will never change in our favor.

When we feel like crying at night, let's cry until our tears run dry.
When we run into a wall, we just need to try a different path.

Since our life is limited, let's keep fighting without giving up.
We keep on searching for the very meaning of our existence,
and that is precisely how we have to live our life.

It only took about a day for Jeremiah to reach Santalune city. He had Shinx out of her Pokeball and was holding her. The city had a sort of Western feel to it with various benches laid throughout town for a person's/trainer's convenience, the center of the town had a Roselia water fountain in the heart of town.

Music: Commercial City of Bose

"Look Shinx, it's Santalune City! Well, according to the sign at least." Jeremiah stated.

"Shinx..." Said the Pokemon in awe.

"How are you liking the view?" Eli asked, walking to take a spot next to him.

"Eli! It's good to see you." Jeremiah said.

"It's wonderful to see you too, but you know you shouldn't hold your Pokemon a lot. It could spoil them."

"W-what?! Oh thank goodness you told me. OK Shinx, down you go." Jeremiah put Shinx on the ground next to him and Shinx just stood up and looked to her trainer and to Eli, then back to her trainer in a quizzical manner.

"It's something I learned from the Trainer School back in my home region."

"'Home Region'? What do you mean?"

"Oh I must've left something out. Me and my family moved to Kalos a while back."

"Oh so you live in Lumiose now?"

"Yeah. Hey, let me show you how to use the services offered at the Pokemon center. We never got to learn how since there was no Pokemon center in Aquacorde Town."

"Pokemon Center...?" Jeremiah was a bit confused along with Shinx at Elijah's proposal.

"Oh newbie... You have so much you need to know still. Listen after the Pokemon Center I'll take you over to the Trainer School to teach you important things." Elijah offered.

"Knowledge is probably one of the best things for our journey, so I guess learning somethings wouldn't hurt at all. You sir, have a deal."

"Good, now we simply have to find the Pokemon Center. It has a distinct feature that makes it stand out from all other buildings."

"And that would be?" Jeremiah asked.

"Well it typically has an orange roof and very technological doors. I think it's this way..." Elijah walked with Jeremiah, with Shinx following, to find the Pokemon Center.

In the Trainer School classes were starting and the usual flow of classes except it was the last day of school! Students were glad that the school year was ending but they all had to be present because it's always a day where they take the Final Exams. Which determined whether you passed or not. Katherine Kanade (Or just Kat/Kathy to her friends) was going to take her test. She was around 14 and she was the girl who was described in Chapter 5. (You know dark hair with purple tint) Normal trainers who aren't students can partake in these final examinations to simply test their knowledge for fun. There are certain stages in the Final Exam. Such as Q&A, Practice Battles and Berry Botany.

"Good luck today on your final exam Kat!" One of her friends cheered.

"You can do it Katherine!" Shouted another one of her friends as she walked by.

"Thanks guys~." She said.

"Hehe... I know you're going to fail this year Katherine." Said someone in a snoody voice. Katherine turned around in disgust and found a boy roughly a year younger than her. He wore large round glasses and a button up shirt with a pocket protector tucked into some khaki dress pants. Overall your stereotypical arrogant nerd in class. (Just imagine an upgraded Super nerd trainer class).

"What 'chu talkin about Willis?" Kat asked the Nerd, to which his name was actually Willis.

"What I mean is get ready for all that extra summer homework coming up for you." Willis said with a smug smile on his face.

"Hey! I may not be a genius like you, but at least I know my stuff." Kathy told him.

"Heh. We'll see." Willis adjusted his glasses and they had that glare to them as he walked off.

"Man... what a creep..." She sighed. She couldn't believe she was graduating with that cocky nerd.

Jeremiah and Elijah found the way to the Pokémon Center and Elijah showed the younger trainer how to ask for the Pokémon Center to treat his Pokémon, how to use the PC system and where the store is located. "Wow! Using Pokémon Centers are very convenient and they work fast too!" Jeremiah said fascinated.

"Haha yup!" Elijah laughed, "Now you should be able to come in and take care of some things before setting out again. They're everywhere in Kalos!"

"Except in Vaniville Town and Accumula Town for some reason." Jeremiah sighed.

"Well, I believe it's a simple answer." Elijah said, "It's probably the only people who frequent those areas live there and even though they have their tourist attractions but those are what we consider the 'rural' areas of Kalos."

"I guess you're right. Even though you're not from Kalos, you're quite knowledgeable about many areas."

"I guess it's just a natural thing for me to understand!" Elijah laughed.

"Honestly I'm a bit jealous now... You've got some pretty good looks in the eyes of most, the intelligence and the personality. I swear you're too perfect!" Jeremiah sighed, "Why couldn't our Great Lord bless me with such divine gifts... Mutiny I tell you!" He began to pout in irritation.

"H-hey now... I'm not that perfect." Eli said, "I'm just better in some cases."

"Ain't that a real boost in self confidence." Jeremiah told him with an exasperated look on his face. "But I guess everyone has their flaws."

"I guess so." Elijah laughed again.

"Um excuse me." Said a man in a delivery uniform. Must be a delivery man if logic will allow it. "Are either of you 'Deseree LaPierre' or 'Jeremiah Cruz'?" He asked.

"Oh. Yes that's me." Jeremiah said.

"So you're 'Deseree'?" The Delivery man asked.

"Do I look like my name is Deseree?" Jeremiah stated, "Plus that's my sister's name. I'm Jeremiah Cruz."

"Well kid, in the world of delivery people have stranger names for their kids so don't blame me for making sure. But here, this one is yours." The delivery man handed Jeremiah a small parcel. "Do you know if Deseree will be dropping by this Pokémon Center."

"Most likely if she needs to stop by. Knowing her she will." Elijah said.

"But you practically just met her. You can't possibly know that." Jeremiah said. 'But I can't say he's wrong though...' He mentally sighed.

"Just a hunch." Eli said, "But you can just tell she's a bit headstrong."

"Yeah. She can be stubborn hehehe..." Jeremiah laughed nervously.

"So... What's in the package~?" Elijah asked playfully.

"Beats me."

"Open it and find out."

"Uh..."

"Ahem." the Deliveryman coughed. "Well it was a pleasure meeting you too." 'These kids these days...' He thought as he left the two boys to their business.

"So. Open it!" Eli begged. "Please! My curiosity is eating away at me!"

"I... might not be such a good idea right now. I just want to wait for my sister is all. We can open them together." Jeremiah lied. He knew it wasn't that reason. It was the name of the sender bothering him. 'Out of everyone... it's his name... Just why...?'

"Ugh fine. You're no fun." Eli gave up.

"Well then... I'm sorry for being a nuisance." The younger boy pouted.

"Oh no! I didn't mean it like that, I'm sorry." Elijah apologized.

"No, no it's fine." Jeremiah said. Dese just happened to walk up to the two conversing children with a same size parcel in her arms.

"Jeremiah! Prissy boy!" Dese called to the two.

"Oh... I don't understand how you see me as 'Prissy'." Elijah said.

"It's cuz you seem to perfect. I imagine you can be very prissy. But can you leave me and Jeremiah alone for a bit." She had a more serious look on her face.

"Sure. Just meet up with me at the Trainer School when done here. I know this is a special 'unwrapping'." Elijah walked out of the Pokémon center, leaving the siblings alone.

"... So... The packages were sent by-"

"I know." Dese told her brother. The parcels were sent by someone the name of Roake (Not Roark the Gym Leader but a different name)

"Might as well open them together instead of throwing them away." Jeremiah suggested to Dese.

"Yeah." Dese replied. The two undid the seals on the packaging and opened the boxes to find a red Pokeball in each. There was a Cherish ball in each. With it came a letter...

'I kept my promise kiddos.

-Love Dad'

"Quick sis! Daddy's coming back home today!" An ecstatic young boy was running to the front door of the average house in Vaniville Town.

"Slow down Jer! I can't keep up with you when you get like this!" Called his older sister who was about 8 and her brother who was 6.

"Now Dese, don't get upset. He's just happy your father's coming back today." Their mother said who had a Happiny at her side and an egg yet to hatch in her arms.

"I wanna see Dad as much as he does but he doesn't have to be so rowdy."

"I ain't rowdy, I just can't contain my happiness like you can sis."

"Sure you're not." Dese sighed.

"Hey! Can you open up the door?!" Called a man's voice.

"Daddy!" Jeremiah screamed in delight as he opened the door. In the door was a man with brown hair and brown eyes.

"Hey kids. I'm back. Did ya miss me?"

"Of course we did dad don't be ridiculous!" Dese told him.

"We missed you a lot dad!" Jeremiah exclaimed.

"I'm sorry. Work kinda takes up my time these days..." Their father sighed.

"Roake..." Their mother said in a soft tone.

"Hello honey..." Roake said returning the soft statement.

"Dad were you out with your Pokémon again?" Jeremiah asked.

"Yes I was. Me and Arcie have been traveling around again."

"You and your Arcanine are really close. I wish we had Pokémon too..." Dese sighed.

"Hey! I have a great idea. One day when you're old enough I'll go out and catch or breed Pokémon just for you two and no one else."

"R-really?! You mean it?!" Jeremiah asked in shock.

"Of course. But gotta remember that work will come in the way."

"Don't worry. We will..." Both of them promised.

They both kept their promise but they had been waiting 8 years for this day to come. And by then they've come to resent their dad in a way. Not for holding off for 8 years but for never coming home. "Why dad…?" Jeremiah asked to himself.

"Well… Let's see what's inside." Dese said reluctantly.

Translation:

Try to wait a while, anyone is
Totally different from yesterday

Try to look for a while
Even the silhouette of the side of your face is mature

Wait [you],
Your wish to make excuses can be understood
Because if the world is like this,
Nothing's is going to get done

Right! The good breeze
Now! want to breathe
Can't be helped, can't be helped

Tomorrow my wind will blow so
Keep the doors in the world open
Tomorrow my wind will blow so
Your cowardice
Will [be] be blown away completely
A gorgeous life!
