I do not own Alice in Wonderland.
Alex walked through the forest for what felt like hours. But she didn't care. She had no where to go.
"What do we have here?" Alex froze mid step. She turned and found a man in armour standing behind her. He had a heart shaped eye patch and wavy dark hair. "Are you lost my dear?"
Alex eyed him with a calm face. He had a bit of a limp on his left side, but not enough to impair him. It looked like he had the eye patch for a while, so probably knew how to compensate for the larger blind spot. He would be a hard opponent to beet head on. "No. Just wandering. Is that a problem?"
"Well, you see that is a problem. Her Majesty does not like just anyone wandering about. They might be spies." The man smiled as he talked to the girl. She had an air about her that excited him. "My name is Lester. I am Her Majesty, The Red Queen's knight." Lester bowed as he introduced himself. "And who might you be, my dear?"
Alex didn't like the look that Lester had in his eyes. "I am Alexis."
"Alexis? A curios name. Very close to...Alice." Lester took several small steps towards the curious girl dressed in red. "Well, Alexis, why don't we go speak to the Queen. I'm sure if you explain that you have nothing to do with the White Queen, that she will allow you to continue wandering." Lester held his hand out to escort Alexis to the Red Queen's palace.
Alexis very nearly gave Lester a glare, but she suppressed it. "Very well, let's go speak to the Queen." Alexis walked passed Lester and ignored his hand. She did not want anything to do with him.
Lester watch Alexis as she walked away from him. "Yes, let's."
~Red Queen's Courtroom~
Alex was in awe at the Red Queen's courtroom. It had every shade of red you could possible imagine. And the throne itself was a large heart with an intricate gold stitch pattern in it. And the Queen sat proudly an her throne.
Alex stayed on the lower floor as Lester walked up to the throne.
"My Queen." Lester knelt down and kisses the Queen's hand.
"Who is this?" The Queen eyed the girl before her curiously. She wore a simple red dress with no shoes. But what caught her attention, was the girl's blood red eyes. They where a beautiful shade of red. "I am not interested in adding anyone to my court. Too bad, her eyes are lovely. Lester, kill her."
Alex took a step back at the Queen's words. She hadn't even said a word. She saw Lester walk towards her with a disappointed expression on his face. "I apologize. Your wandering stops here." Alex nearly froze when his hand went towards her throat. But her hands were still moving.
Alex kicked Lester away as he hands wrapped around the hilt of his sword. She knocked away a spear that one of the guards had thrust at her. She ducked under another before rolling away from the guards.
Alex stared in disbelief at the guards, they were playing cards, oversized playing cards. 'Okay. This day just gets weirder and weirder.' She was pulled out of her day dream when another sword came at her. She brought her own sword up and blocked Lester. She pulled her foot back before sending it into his stomach. Lester rolled away from Alex while clutching his stomach. "Anyone else?"
"Enough!" Alex kept her guard up while she looked over at the Red Queen. The Queen had a large grin on her face. "What is you name?"
"Alexis, your Majesty." Alex added a bow for good measure.
"Alexis? Excellent." The Queen was very pleased with the girl before her. "You skills are impressive. We're did you learn them?"
"From teachers, Your Majesty." Alex lowered her guard when she noticed the guards returning to their posts and Lester returning the sword he had taken.
"You had good teachers. Would you like to be my Champion? My last one fell to a stupid little twit. And I seem to be in need of one." The Queen had a score to settle with her sister. And this girl would help her settle it, permanently.
Alexis liked the idea of being a knight. It beat being a princess. "Thank you, Your Majesty. I will serve you to the best of my ability." Alex bowed to the Queen with a smile on her face.
"Then come forth, my Champion." The Red Queen stood with her staff as the girl came forward and knelt in front of her. "I name you Alexis, The Crimson Knight of the Red Queen's court, and Champion of the Red Queen."
Alex stood after the Queen had knighted her. "Thank you, Your Majesty."
"Now then, you will need armour. Lester, show Alexis to the armoury." The Red Queen could just imagine what her sister would think when her champion came knocking on her door. "After you have your armour, find the Vorpal sword."
"The Vorpal sword? Shouldn't it be with Alice or the Red Queen?" Lester was confused. Why would the Red Queen be after the sword?
"It is not with Alice. And there is no way my little sister could have it. My spies have confirmed that. So someone must be hiding it." The Queen was very crossed that the sword had not been recovered with Alice. It was the one flaw in her plan. "Find it."
Alex looked around the deserted town centre. Her army had come across it. And it seemed a bit out of place. Most towns in the Outskirts were full of life, because they weren't a part of either of the Queens territories. But this one was a complete ghost town.
"We will take a break here!" Alex yelled from behind her helmet. She really just wanted to take off the suit of armour. But she could see her troops were also grateful for the break.
Alex walked into one of the abandoned houses and made her way towards the bathroom. She took off her armour and arranged it in order of what she would have to put on last to first. There were a lot of pieces to her suit.
"Being a knight is almost as troublesome as being a princess. But at least I can move around." Alex stepped out of the bathroom and closed the door behind her. She wanted to make sure her armour was safe.
She snuck out of the house and walked around the forest on the outskirts of the town. The forest felt like one back home. Green and lush with tall trees and full bushes. She could almost believe that she was home. But the bushes of singing flowers she came across disproved that.
"Alex?" Alex turned and was surprised to see a certain orange haired man looking at her. "Is that really you?"
"Blood? What are you doing here?" Alex didn't expect to see him here. She didn't expect to ever see him again.
"Just out for a walk." Blood didn't know what to think of seeing the girl again. The last he had heard was that she had been taken to the Red Queen's castle. He thought she was dead. "What are you doing out here?"
"Wandering. Since I don't really belong here. Being an Outsider and all." Alex looked over at the village that she had come from. "And also working. Don't want to upset the Red Queen."
"Your working for the Red Queen? Why?" Blood took a step away from Alex.
Alex rolled her eyes at the man. "Because I didn't want my bloody head cut off. That's why." Alex could hear a horn being blown. "I have to go. My company just sounded the five minute warning."
"Be careful, Alex. The Red Queen is very dangerous." He didn't want to see the girl get hurt.
Alex smirked as she thought of a response. "I don't think the White Queen is that harmless either." She turned away and began walking back to the house she had come out of.
Alex looked at the valley below her. A river lazily trickled along through a meadow of flowers and soft grass.
She looked up at the hill on the other side. An army dressed in glistening white stood at attention. A knight in a pearly white armour was at the front of the army.
Alex felt a growl from the bandersnatch she rode. She scratched his side as she reached for her sword.
Alex urged her mount forward. Her troops followed after her and managed to keep pace. But she wasn't paying them much attention. Her attention was on the white knight galloping towards her. She had her target.
Alex brought her sword up and blocked the white knight's attack. She retaliated with a slash at his back. And smiled as her sword broke through his armour. 'Take this, white trash.' Alex turned the bandersnatch and set it lose on the knight's horse. She dismounted as the horse and knight fell over.
Alex looked behind her as she landed on the ground. Her army was winning.
*clang*
Alex cringed a bit as a sharp pain came from her arm. She looked and saw that she had a dent in her bright red armour. She looked up and saw the white knight facing her.
"The Red Queen will not succeed." Alex could barely make out what he was saying. But she didn't have to respond. The knight was attacking again.
Alex parried his blade and countered with her own attacks. They seemed to be almost even, but their armies weren't. Alex took a breath as the knight was surrounded by spears. "Surrender." Alex lowered her voice, no point in giving away that she was a girl.
The knight responded by dropping his sword. "I surrender."
Alex watched as her troops escorted the knight away. They now had something to use against the White Queen. "Her Majesty will be very pleased. We march to the Red Palace!" Alex called out as she remounted her bandersnatch.
We are back on. Let me know what you think of this chapter.
