I do not own Alice in Wonderland.
Alex stood at attention with her helmet on her face. The Queen was smiling happily on her thrown. 'I wonder what she is excited about. Probably going to cut off someone's head.'
Alex's attention was drawn to the large double doors that were opening. Her eyes grew wide as she caught sight of the person that was being escorted in.
"So you are my little sister's knight now, Hatter?" The Red Queen smiled at the chained man. "And as punishment for opposing me...you will die. And then I shall send your headless corpse to my sister. I'm sure she will enjoy that." The Queen giggled as she finished speaking. "Take him away."
Alex stepped forward and picked Blood up by his collar. She pushed him towards the doors and walked behind him.
'How did this happen?' Alex was trying to think of a way to free him. But she was drawing a blank.
"We will take him from here." Alex looked towards the guards that guarded the dungeon. They already had a hand on each of Blood's arms.
"Very well. I will be back to interrogate him later. Need to get information out of him before his head rolls at noon tomorrow." Alex turned away from Blood as she spoke in a deep voice. All of the guards knew she didn't want to be seen as a girl. "So don't be too rough with him."
"You got it Crimson." Alex kept walking. She needed to find out how to free Blood before morning.
Alex crept down the hall quickly. She knew the guards were on rotation. So she had a window to sneak in. She had also ordered that no one interact with the prisoner till she had interrogated him. So she was sure she wouldn't be found in his cell.
Alex looked around the corner. No one in sight. 'Good.' She quickly pulled out her master key as she hurried towards the door. She had it opened, closed and locked in less than five seconds.
"Who's there?" Alex turned at the soft voice that spoke. She easily found Blood's bright red hair. "I thought no one was suppose to be here."
"No one is. So you should be more quiet, Blood." Alex knelt down beside the man. He had chains on his ankles and his wrists. And she didn't have the keys. That would be with the guards.
"Alex? What are you doing here?" Blood couldn't understand why she was here. If she was found...she would die. "You have to leave before the guards come back. If they see you..."
"Don't worry. I have their rotation schedule memorized." Alex opened her bag and pulled out a bottle of water. "Thirsty?" She smiled as Blood shook his head.
"Why are you risking your life for me?" Blood took the bottle and took a long drink.
Alex shrugged. "Do I need a reason?"
"Well, unless your completely mad, then yes." Blood handed Alex back the bottle. "Now leave before they come back."
"They're already back. They'll be gone in ten minutes." Alex replaced the bottle and pulled out a loaf of bread. "Hungry?"
Blood couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "Do you have a whole picnic in there?"
"Just about. I couldn't exactly bring a tea party. But I do have cakes." Alex smiled as she pulled out said cakes.
They sat and ate in silence. The night was calm and quiet outside.
"Blood?" Alex broke the silence of the small room. "Why were you on that battlefield? I thought you didn't like fighting."
"I don't. But I wanted to see you. And only soldiers were permitted to travel." Blood could see confusion on Alex's face. "You remember that town were we met? They were evacuated by the White Queen."
"I thought the Outskirts were outside of both the Red and White Kingdoms." Alex frowned as she thought of what the White Queen was doing.
Blood nodded at her statement. "It's suppose to be. The same as how people are suppose to be able to travel around freely. But the White Queen has ordered that only soldiers can leave their towns."
"That's tyrannical. I thought she was suppose to be the nice Queen." Alex hissed quietly.
"Everyone can turn dark." Blood knew that very well. "Just because someone is nice, doesn't mean that they can't change."
Alex knew that truth very well.
"Do you believe in love at first sight?" Alex was taken off guard by Blood's question. Blood smiled as Alex seemed stumped.
"Um...I guess. I've never seen it. And love certainly can't be made." Alex shook her head after she answered. "What does that-"
Her sentence was stopped by a pair of lips pressed against her own.
Blood pulled His lips away after several seconds. "I believe in it. And when you believe, strange things can happen." Blood gave the girl a wink as he smiled.
Alex could feel her cheeks redden. "You...you...you...kissed me?" Alex sat back and just stared at Blood. "Why?"
Blood chuckled a bit. "I thought it was obvious. I love you, Alex."
Alex stared at Blood as she thought. 'He...loves me? After everything? Mind you I don't think he knows I'm the Crimson Knight. But still. Me?!'
Blood chuckled again as Alex continued to stare blankly at him. He reached towards her. Only to have his hand stop an inch short of her face. His chains were too short. He sighed as he brought his knee up to rest his arm on. "Alex? Are you-"
He smirked a bit as he was interrupted by a pair of soft lips. He wrapped an arm around Alex as he kissed her back.
Alex pushed herself away using the wall behind Blood. She knew she was blushing, but really didn't care. "I love you too, but you deserve someone better."
"Someone better than the great Crimson Knight." Blood smirked as Alex stared at him with surprise. "You walk like a girl."
Alex found herself giggling at Bloods response.
Blood reached his hand up and held Alex's cheek in his hand. He smiled as Alex kissed his palm. He brought her face close to his.
*ping pang*
Alex sighed as she heard the rotation bell. "I have to go." She really didn't want to leave, but the next guards would be on duty till she was scheduled to interrogate the prisoner.
"Be safe. And don't worry about me. I'll be fine." Blood watched as Alex collected her bag and walked over to his cell's door.
"You shouldn't worry either. I have a plan." Alex winked as she quietly opened the door. "And please don't be too stubborn during the interrogation." She gave him a smile as she left the cell and locked the door behind her.
She crept down the hall and easily avoided the guards. But a pair of eyes in a shadow had seen everything.
Fluff! I missed the stuff. Please tell me your thoughts on the chapter. Hopes for future chapters. And any guesses as to what or who the eyes are.
