Chapter 12: The Second Wedding
"So is that what you did? Did you tell the media that you saved Mom and me? Did they believe you? Is that the end of the story?" Genji asked me with excitement in his voice.
"Genji, calm down there is still one more part to the story, the day Tamaki met you. And yes that's what we told the media, only half of the people believed it but it blew over by the time you were three."
"Wait! I'VE MET TAMAKI?! Why don't I remember?"
"You were only 18 months old Genji, calm down and I'll tell you." He was sitting on his knees looking at me eager for me to continue. I shook my head at him, sometimes it's easy to call him mine, sometimes, his Tamaki and Haruhi show. I chuckled at him before continuing.
11.5 years earlier
"Dada!" Genji said running up over to me in his cute one year old waddle. He was dressed in a little suite matching mine down to the white bow tie. I smiled as I picked him and and spun in a circle.
"Hey big guy, you ready to help Mommy and Daddy get married?" I asked him. He nodded with the biggest grin on his face. Looking at him I knew I was the luckiest man in the world to have him as my son. I would never understand why Tamaki left.
"Except for that hair of his no one would ever know," my father was standing in the doorway, I don't think he'll ever get over his hair.
I chuckled at the comment, "I know, but I love him hair and all."
"I'm here to pick up my grandson so he can get in line for the ceremony to start," he said looking more at Genji than me.
As soon as I placed him on the floor he screamed "Ojiiiiii!" at my father and ran over just about falling onto his leg.
I watched as my father shook his had at his grandson, "And then there's that… Hopefully he grows out of it." I smirked knowing he wouldn't. "I'll see you at the ceremony Kyouya, five minutes," he said before leaving, like always reminding me about the time.
Just before the door closed Kaoru walked in since he was my best man. After everything the best friend spot in my relationships had opened up and Kaoru and I had gotten much closer, him being the more levelheaded of the brothers.
He smiled at me from the doorway, "You look much better than you did this time at the first wedding."
"This time I'm not trying to figure out how to murder someone."
He chuckled, "Good point, so are you ready to get married again?"
I nodded, "Yeah, I can't wait to see Haruhi, I know she'll be beautiful."
We walked out and took our places at the front of the chapel and within minutes the music started and so did the procession. My nieces looked beautiful in their flower girl dresses and Genji just about skipped down the aisle in his suite and big grin. When he got to me he clung onto my leg and I ruffled his hair, he had become quiet attached to me. The bridesmaids were fine, pretty, I didn't know many of them well as they were Haruhi's college friends mainly in place to accompany the other three host club members. Finally the music changed, the crowd stood, and I could see Haruhi at the end of the aisle. She looked absolutely angelic, the perfect bride. Her dress was much simpler than last time, and so was her hair and makeup but that's what made her look so beautiful. She smiled at me and my heart melted, I couldn't believe I was lucky enough to have her as my wife.
Ranka walked her down the aisle in a beautiful mother of the bride dress and handed her over to me for a second time. Just like last time he gave me a look of approval and a handshake that said, "don't be Tamaki", and with that the ceremony began.
The wedding was perfect and beautiful just like Haruhi. She had planned everything just right, from the flowers and colors to the dress and music. I couldn't be happier to get a second chance at this wedding… that was until Tamaki showed up.
We, and by we I mean Haruhi, had decided on a Christian looking wedding and a Shinzen shiki ceremony. We were just finishing exchanging the cups, before the oath or exchanging of the rings, when the door to the chapel opened with a bang. Everyone turned to look but I was not surprised to see a soaking wet Tamaki, though I was curious to why he was wet on a sunny day.
"Stop the wedding! I object! You can't let this man marry this women!" He screamed from the door his hair still covering his eyes. "I love her and will not let her go!" He picked up his head, his eyes showing through his hair.
"Tamaki… You're too late," I said taking a stepping in front of Haruhi, Genji still clinging to my leg.
"Did I miss the whole ceremony? I wasn't running that late…" he said as he started to walk down the aisle.
I sighed and pushed my glasses up the bridge of my nose. "No Tamaki you didn't miss the whole ceremony, but you missed the first one two years ago."
He stopped in midstride and started mumbling things like "two years ago" "when you call?" "I didn't know" "why didn't father" "I missed it." Finally he looked back to me and in the sadness voice he asked, "You've been married two years?" I nodded to him wanting this to be over with and to finish the ceremony. "But Haruhi, I love you…" he said turning to her.
"If you loved me then you would have stayed two years ago!" Haruhi spat at him.
"Mama mad," Genji said tugging at my leg looking scared.
"Oh Genji baby I'm not mad at you," Haruhi said bending down and picking him up. "I'm just mad at the bad man."
At that moment I looked away from my wife and child and turned to Tamaki, he realized who Genji was. "He's?…" I nodded to him. "Does he know?" I shook my head. He walked the rest of the way down the aisle and placed a hand on my shoulder. I could feel all of the eyes in the room on us and out of the corner of my eye I saw Honey-sempi ready to strike and Mori-sempi with a hand on his shoulder. "Kyouya, Haruhi, are you two happy?"
I looked slightly taken back, why would he care? Haruhi was the first to answer though, I was to surprised. "Yes Tamaki-sempi, we're happy. We have a house and a family, everything I ever wanted, I'm married to my best friend." She smiled at me and stood on her tips toes to kiss my cheek. I couldn't help but smile and grabbed her hand.
"I'm more than happy with my wife and son," I said looking at them instead of him, they had become my life and I was happier than I had been in years. Nothing else mattered, I didn't even care if father didn't give me the company because I had my family and together we would be okay.
"I know when I see true love, I'm just sorry I ever stood between you two…" Tamaki said. With everything he had done in the last three years I had almost forgotten how much of a good person he was. "Can I … Can I hold him, Haruhi?" I stiffened as she passed Genji over to Tamaki. "Hi little guy, I'm you're Uncle Tamaki."
I smirked when Genji said "No bad guy! Want Dada!" Tamaki's eyes sank and I almost felt bad taking my son from him. Genji snuggled into my chest sucking his thumb, right where he belonged, where he always belonged, in my arms not Tamaki's.
Tamaki took a step back, "I see I have no reason to be here, I'm sorry for interrupting I'll leave…" He turned around and left.
"Tamaki!" Haruhi called before he was out the door, "Come over tonight and we can talk!" He stopped for a second and nodded his head before leaving the chapel. That was the last time I saw my old friend, Tamaki Suoh.
