As soon as the door shut, Elisya grabbed Ed's arm and dragged him down the hallway into her room.

"Hey!"Ed said as she forced him into a seat at her miniature table.

"What do you want to play!"She asked, taking a seat next to him.

Ed was about to respond with an i don't know when he remembered a piece of advice his father had given him. The advice had been given to him after he had asked his dad a question.

Flashback

Ed was sitting at the kitchen table eating macaroni while his mother was washing dishes. His father was sitting next to him eating a sandwich. It was lunchtime. The phone rang and his mother left to answer it. His mother turned to his father and asked in a polite, yet commanding tone for him to continue the dishes. She left the room but, his father was already at the sink, lunch forgotten.

"Dad why do you act scared of mom?"He asked.

He looked at him and pondered for a moment.

"It's not that I'm scared of her Ed"He began"It's that i love and respect her enough to mind what she tells me.".

"Your scared."Ed deadpanned.

"A little. But i do what she says because i love and respect her. Remember to always treat women with

respect and kindness Ed.".

(End flashback)

"Whatever you want to play."Ed replied.

She giggled and set the table for a tea party. Ed smiled. He wouldn't admit it but, he enjoyed this game because the whole concept was talking Elisya over a coffee break. Elisya didn't like tea very much so she insisted it was coffee instead. She wanted to be just like her father, hence she "drank" coffee.

"Would you like creamer or sugar?"She asked.

Ed knew about these sense his father drank coffee too. He asked for 'sugar' and Elisya settled down in her own seat. All was quiet for a moment as they sat. Then, Ed had a thought.

"Did Uncle Hughes ever tell you about the Elric's?".

Elisya pondered then shook her head.

"Isn't the state alchemist the one your named after?"She asked.

He nodded.

"I asked father and he told me they preformed illegal alchemy.".

"Alchemy?"She asked "The stuff your dad preforms?".

"I can show you some."Ed grinned "Would you like to see?".

Her eyes grew wide in astonishment. He reached over to a shelf where paper and pencils were kept. Taking a moment, he drew the circle he had drawn earlier. Setting the pencil on the paper, he placed his hands on it and transmuted the pencil into a small wood block. Hughes was on his way to check on the kids when he noticed blue light coming from the room. As he peeked in, he watched astonished as Ed transmuted the pencil. Elisya clapped when Ed had finished and jumped up, hugging him.

"That was amazing!"She said.

Hughes entered as Elisya and Ed looked up.

"Well thats unusual young man."He said "Has Roy been teaching you basics?".

Ed shook his head embarrassed. Hughes eyes widened.

"Take my advice son."Hughes grew serious "Take a lesson from the person you were named after. Don't get involved in things beyond your control.".

"Yes sir!"Ed said.

It wasn't long before Riza came to pick Ed up. She thanked him and left, clutching Ed's hand. Hughes watched them leave.

"Is something wrong dear?"Gracia asked.

"It's nothing."Hughes offered a smile "It's just...Ed reminds me so much of Edward Elric. I just worry for him. Did you know he was teaching himself alchemy? It's just a bad feeling...".

"It's ok. He's not Edward Elric and he's got Roy and Riza watching over him."She kissed him.

"Yeah."Hughes hugged her.

It was an hour latter that Elisya wandered around into the living room. She took a seat on the couch and pondered for a moment as she stared at the ground.

"Dad?"She began quietly "What do you know about the Elric's?".

Hughes looked up at her in concern.

"Did Ed ask you to ask?".

She shook her head.

"I just want to know why Ed was named after them if they were so bad.".

"They weren't bad, just confused."Hughes crossed the room to look her in the eye "Ed looks like Edward Elric. That's why Ed's his name. Don't worry about them.".

He carried her into her room and lay her in bed, kissing her good night. He turned off the light and left. Gracia caught him looking out the window at the sky in concern.

"Elisya asked about the Elric's."He stated comely.

Gracia looked worried.

"They are just children. Their just being inquisitive.".

"Hopefully."Hughes turned to her "Lets go to bed.".

Roy sighed in frustration. He was sitting in his chair struggling to finish up the last of that nights paperwork. Riza stood next to him, watching Ed who had passed out on the couch.

"What's the matter?"She asked when he set the pen down.

"Nothing."He said, glancing at his son.

"Ed's tired. You should finish so we can take him home."Her tone held a authoritative tone that he recognized as her 'Get back to work' tone.

He sighed again, picking up the pen. When the last of the paper work was done, he walked over to Ed. As he picked him up, a book fell out from under him. With a start, he realized it was Introduction to Alchemy. Riza had her back turned so he shifted Ed in his arms and kicked the book under the couch. He would have to have a talk with him about it latter.

"Ready?"Riza asked.

He nodded and they excited the building. Once they were home, the two tucked Ed into bed and stood together in the doorway looking fondly at their boy.

"Why does Ed know about the Elric's?"Riza states casually.

Roy sighed. Somehow he knew this was coming. He hadn't expected his son to keep the secret anyway. Dreading the scolding he was about to receive, he followed her into the living room.

"Sit."Riza commanded.

He sat knowing better than to defy her right then.

"Why would you tell him something like that?"She said "He's too young to understand!".

"He asked who he was named after because he heard he was named after an alchemist. I told him he was named after Edward and he was deceased now and his brother Al was around somewhere. I told him not to approach Al if he did see him."Roy lamented.

Riza sighed.

"It's better if he knows now. That way if Al shows up he can steer clear of him."Roy added.

"That's all you told him?"Riza questioned.

Roy nodded a bit frightened and wary that she would pull her guns.

"OK."She said.

Roy frowned.

"Are you ok?"He stood up to move closer and draw her into an embrace.

"Yeah. I...i just worry about him."She said.

"Don't worry. He has us and the rest of the military. It pains me to say this, but he has Hughes too.".

She gave a weak smile.

"Why don't we go to sleep?"He suggested.

She nodded but, her expression grew stern for a moment.

"Don't try anything Roy Mustang!"She said "Remember that there's a four year old in this house!".

He smiled.

"Wouldn't dream of it."He kissed her cheek.

They retired to bed. Ed grunted as he sleepily blinked his eyes open. For a few seconds, his vision was filled with the vast starry sky outside his window and then he drifted off to sleep again. Unbeknownst to him, a suit of armor was glancing up at the same sky thinking about his lost brother. He wondered if he would ever find him again.
