Chapter 2 - Hello

"Hello! My name is Rin Hibiki, and you are?"

Snapping out of his worry, Len looked up towards his computer screen. The first thing he thought when he saw her was this: 'She looks WAY too young and innocent for a model.'

Proving this thought further was the fact that she was wearing a fluffy blue sweater that exposed a bit of her right shoulder. Her eyes looked as if they have seen absolutely no evil in the world, and the blue bow she was wearing on top of her blonde hair only seemed to add to her innocent look. He would even go as far as saying that she was a bit cute…

He shook his head at such thoughts and concentrated on getting his assignment done. He smiled as politely as he could and answered her earlier question, "My name is-"

"RIN!"

The girl on the other end sighed as she gave Len an apologetic look, "I think it's one of my brothers."

"You bet it is." A boy that looked almost identical to Rin entered the room.

Len watched silently as Rin looked at her brother with a smile, "Is there something you need, nii-san?"

'Big Brother' completely ignored her as he shoved his face into the webcam, all the while glaring at the person on the other end of the connection, "What's your name? Do you do drugs? Are you an alcoholic? Have you ever given anyone teen pregnancy? Speaking of which, how many girlfriends have you had before? Are you a big flirt? You haven't answered any of my questions, are you homosexual, by any chance?"

Len frowned and answered his questions in perfect order, "Len Kagamine, no, no, I would never EVER do that to a girl, two or three, used to be, and hell no!"

The boy on the screen frowned, "I still don't trust him, Rin."

Len could see Rin frown somewhere in the background, "He looks pretty trustworthy!"

'Is she serious? C'mon,' Len looked down at his apparel, which was a simple white shirt with a leather jacket on top, jeans and untied black Converse below that, 'I look like some sort of gang member.'

"Even so," he turned around to face his sister, blocking out Len's view completely because of how close his back was to the webcam, "I don't think it's safe to be talking to a complete stranger! As the eldest Hibiki twin, I advice- No, I DEMAND you quit this stupid project! Right now!"

He couldn't see her, but Len could sort-of picture Rin frowning as she said, "You're only, like, three minutes older than me…!"

'That explains why they look so much alike…' With this conclusion, he kept listening as 'the eldest Hibiki twin' complained, "And with those extra three minutes of knowledge on the world, I'm smarter, therefore responsible for you! I don't want this stupid teen hurting you!"

At the insult, Len couldn't hold back his tongue, "'This stupid teen' has a name and is right behind you, 'ya know."

The older-looking boy turned back around and glared at Len, "YOU, my new foe, are to refer to me as 'Alpha'; your biggest nightmare."

Len rolled his eyes, clearly unamused by his unsaid threat, "Sure thing, Alpha."

Noting no sarcasm in his words (even though there obviously was), 'Alpha' nodded in a smidge of acceptance before saying good night to Rin and leaving the room. The moment the door closed, Rin ran up towards the webcam and gave Len a sympathetic look, "I'm so sorry about that, nii-san is very overprotective, you see, and-"

"It's alright," Len sighed and tried to give Rin a reassuring smile, "Do you mind telling me his name? I don't really want to call him 'Alpha'." He scoffed, "It totally doesn't suit him."

Rin giggled and happily answered, "His name's Rinto~ He's a really nice person, once you get on his good side."

Len rolled his eyes in doubt but didn't voice out his thoughts. Instead, he decided to just get right to the point. He had an assignment to do, and the last thing he needed right now was wasting his time by getting to know Rin. With that said, he asked, "Okay, we both know why I'm here, so let's get right to the chase. What's it like being a celebrity?"

Rin smiled brightly, a trait she had gotten after smiling so much in front of cameras, "It's pretty fun~ I mean, sure, you don't get much privacy, but having my brothers and sisters here make it SO much easier, y'know?"

Len nodded and wrote down the information on a nearby sticky-note pad with a dark blue pen. When he was done, he kept his pen in hand and glanced back at his computer screen, "Do you still live with your parents?"

At this question, Rin's eyes seemed to have lost the childish gleam they have had only seconds ago. They became a bit dark, almost as if she was guilty… Her smiling lips' corners came down a tad as she bit her bottom lip, "M-My p-p-papa isn't with us anymore… I try to help mama as much as I can with my brothers and sisters."

'I must've hit a touchy subject… Oops.' At this, Len frowned and decided it was best to say this, "I'm sorry, I didn't-"

"I know you didn't know." Her earlier sad expression morphed into a slightly happier one as she said, "You don't seem like the type that's into this stuff, right?"

Len groaned, glad that a small weight had been lifted off his shoulders, "I'm so glad you noticed!" But, being the boy he was, he decided to question it, "But, I tried to not make it so obvious…"

The celebrity on the other side of the connection giggled and said, "If you WERE actually into talking to a celebrity, you would've skipped the project questions completely."

Len laughed and talked with Rin about small, random topics, the sticky-notes completely forgotten on his desk.

Rin Hibiki sighed happily as she closed her laptop. Rinto had been completely wrong about Len, that much she can assure. After talking for a bit over three hours (Seriously? It's been THAT long?!), she felt as if she had known the boy since her childhood and has been shocked to find they had quite a lot of things in common. A new friend, maybe even a second best friend, that's what he was to her.

The blonde stretched out her arms and yawned, a bit sleepy since she should've been in bed about thirty minutes ago. She had important interviews to attend tomorrow, not to mention a photo shoot with her modeling new hot trends for teens. At the reminder, she frowned and climbed onto her bed. When she felt the soft and slightly fuzzy covers of her bed, she let herself relax instantly. Now, all there was left to do is think of good things and let her mind send her off to dream-

A ringtone comes blaring out of her phone. She groans as she has to listen to the all-too-familiar song that everyone knows as 'Freely Tomorrow'. She reached one of her thin arms out towards the dresser next to her bed, feeling around the top with her palm to try and find her phone. When her fingers curl over the cold smartphone, she gently picks it up and brings it towards her. She opens up her messages and sees she has gotten a new one from none other than Hatsune Mikuo.

And to her fans, he was famously known as her boyfriend.

She smiled lightly as she read his message, which said:

Srry 2 hv wkn u bunny, I jst wntd 2 knw where r nxt date wuz ;)

Cerulean eyes rolled at the typical teen text message. He was never the one to include many vowels in his texts. Her smile grew as she typed in her reply:

IDK, where do u wanna go? =OuO=

His reply was almost immediate.

'Ow 'bout ths nw ita plce tht opnd not 2 far frm here? I hear thr food wuz 2 die for. *Q*

Rin giggled, he was always so funny! But hey, that's one of the many things she loved about him. With that thought, her fingers moved over her touch-screen keyboard.

Sounds yummy~ ^w^ Can't wait!

Grt, I'll pck u up 6 tmrw … Ur free thn, rght?

The blonde frowned, mentally cursing tomorrow's schedule. She looked at her phone with a disappointed look as she said:

Can u make it 7 instead? *^*

The reply wasn't as immediate as Rin had hoped it would be.

… I guss so, bt our date can only be 30 min long. :(

Rin raised a brow at the emoticon. Weren't they just going to dinner…?

Did u have something else planned?

It wuz a srprise… D'x

At that message, Rin had decided to screw her schedule and try to participate more in their relationship. She had been rain checking Mikuo for what, two years now? He is an amazing boyfriend; always trying to set them on dates for the survival of their relationship. He deserved a much better girlfriend than her…

Which is why with a clenched fist, Rin decides to try and improve as Kuo's girlfriend. That said, she replies:

Y'know what, let's meet at 6. I'm sure I can pull a couple strings…

She smiles as she reads Mikuo's reply.

Tht's awsme! :D Ur the bst~ ;) Good nght, bunny! OuO

With a blush, Rin locks her phone and places it back on her dresser. She sighs contently as she snuggles into her bed and wraps herself tightly with her fuzzy orange blanket. Tomorrow, she thinks, will be a great day.

Thoughts of her future date in mind, she goes off to dreamland with a satisfied smile glued to her peaceful expression.

The next day, Len wakes up to the smell of his favorite breakfast, banana pancakes. With a 'mmm', he throws the covers off of him and welcomes the new day with a smile. He walks into his bathroom without a care in the world and does his usual morning routine.

After about thirty minutes of brushing his teeth and taking a shower, Len steps out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist and another in his hand. He dries off his blonde hair as Mr. Kagamine steps into his room. He acknowledges him with a nod as his father sits down on his bed. The slightly old man gives his son a smile as he says, "I got a letter in the mail today with good news, Len."

"Is that so?" Len looks at his father with slight curiosity, "What is it?"

"It's from Lily. She says she's coming home today," Mr. Kagamine's smile widens as he sees his son's happy expression.

Contrary to popular belief (and to his pride), Len's actually a tad fond of his big sister. So to hear such good news just made his day that much more amazing. He hadn't seen her in such a long time, her being a busy college student and all. He wonders if she's still as energetic and stern as she was before she left…

Shaking his head, Len walked towards his closet and took out a casual tee and a pair of shorts from one of the pile of clothes he had in there. He quickly changed into the outfit and followed his father out of his room and into the dining room.

Once he was done with breakfast, Len excuses himself, grabs his backpack, and walks out of the house after shouting a nice 'see you later' to his dad. A bright smile on his face, he quickly made his way over to Piko's house.

A.N./ I know. I suck when it comes to updating. Throw all the tomatoes you want, I'm not scared!

Now, if I were to be completely honest, I'd say I have had this chapter ready for a LONG time. The only reason on why I hadn't updated sooner was because I was upset on the way I ended it. I still think I suckishly ended it, but whatever. Nobody's perfect. ;P

So~ Valentine's Day is coming up soon~ *wiggles eyebrows* Any of you ladies expecting something special? I know I'm not... *that awkward Forever Alone moment*

B.L: Thank you~ ^^ I'm glad you think it's different; different's what I aim for! ;)
