Chapter 4
"Hey pervy sage." Naruto said as he arrived at the gate in a flash
"What did you just call me brat? Do you know who I am…" Jiraiya started
"My mission superior as well as my godfather." Naruto finished for the man although he knew that wasn't what he was about to say.
"How do you know that?" Jiraiya asked in shock
"I have a lot to explain to you, but we can talk as we run. We have to find grandma Tsunade first." Naruto said
"Huh? You're the one sensei is sending with me?" Jiraiya asked
"Yeah. I can find her a lot quicker than you can." Naruto said
"How is that brat?" Jiraiya asked
"Sage mode." Naruto said as he opened his eyes and showed Jiraiya his eyes which were no longer blue.
"How…" Jiraiya started
"Let's start moving first before we play 20 questions. I can't hold this form forever." Naruto said as he took off at a speed that Jiraiya did not expect.
"Hey wait up kid." Jiraiya said as he took off after Naruto.
With Sasuke
Sasuke had returned to his apartment after his meet with his team. What was said really threw him off.
"Want to talk about it?" Naruto asked
"Naruto? I thought you was on a mission?" Sasuke asked
"Boss is on a mission. I am just a shadow clone. We need to talk though, so start talking." Naruto said
"What are you talking about?" Sasuke asked
"I can see it in your face Sasuke. You have questions and doubts, but only I can put those to rest since I know your future." Naruto said
"What happens during these exams?" Sasuke asked
"During the first exam we run into Orochimaru's right hand man, Kabuto Yakushi. He tries to get on our good side by showing us his ninja info cards, which has information on everyone participating in the exams. You ask for Gaara of the desert and Rock Lee. In the second exam we meet with Orochimaru himself. He starts his attack by using the wind style great breakthrough to blow me away from the group and into the waiting mouth of a big snake summon. I defeat it by creating a lot of shadow clones inside of it. When I returned you was ready to hand over our means of passing that part of the exams because you knew he was stronger than us even if you didn't know who he was. I couldn't tell either, but I knew that the chances of him letting us live after giving up the scroll were slim to none. I fought him at first using Kyuubi's chakra, but he used a seal to cut my access to the chakra which knocked me out. You fought back and even matured your sharingan a bit, but your best wasn't enough. He bites you and places his cursed seal on your neck. It changes you for the worse. It gives you a crazy power boost, especially if pushed to the second stage, but it messes with your mind. It doesn't make you a servant to Orochimaru, but it amplifies the negative emotions in you. Later you wake up to the scene of the team from Oto fighting with Sakura, and team 8, with Lee being hurt. They were coming for you. Your cursed seal activated upon you waking up. You attacked the sound ninja and broke one of the male genin's arm. In the preliminaries sensei told you not to use the chakra because you were low and the seal feeds off of that. It might you have to really work against your opponent, who would have been easily defeated by you had you not been restricted. During the invasion you fought Gaara first. It drove you to use the cursed seal because straight up you couldn't win. By the time I arrived you was consciously using the seal and it wasn't enough. When you told me to take Sakura and run, it inspired me. You was the push that helped me defeat Gaara. I did it for you, Sakura and everyone else that could have been hurt by Gaara if he wasn't stopped then. After the exams you saw that I was getting stronger at a faster rate than you and it angered you so much that you willingly chose to accept Orochimaru's offer of power when he sent his messengers." Naruto said
"When i accepted that offer, it's what lead to our second fight?" Sasuke asked
"Yes. I was sent on a retrieval squad to get you back. In the end we met and we fought." Naruto said
"I was the only one to walk away?" Sasuke asked
"You punched a hole through my chest twice. Once with the chidori and the other time with your bare hand to win the stalemate that our two jutsu created when they clashed." Naruto said
"I'm sorry Naruto." Sasuke said
"It's ok Sasuke. That stuff hasn't happened and won't happen this time around. This time our story will end with me as hokage and you as my strongest jounin and the Uchiha clan head." Naruto said with a smile
"Thanks Naruto, I needed this talk." Sasuke with a smile which was returned by Naruto until he dispelled.
With Kakashi
"You need something Naruto?" Kakashi asked to no one in particular, until Naruto walked out.
"I wanted to tell you something that is very important. You have to believe what I say." Naruto said
"What is it Naruto?" Kakashi asked
"Obito is alive." Naruto said simply
"I don't know how you know that name, but it isn't possible. We left him to die." Kakashi said
"Yes you did, but he was rescued. He survived. He was he masked Uchiha that attacked mom and dad that night. He is the creator and true leader of Akatsuki. He is the biggest threat that I have ever faced out of all the Akatsuki members and that's saying something if you knew who are members of that group." Naruto said
"It can't be possible." Kakashi said
"It is. I don't know all the details, but Madara saved him from that situation. He was also there the night that Rin died. He arrived right as she died and you passed out. He slaughtered the ninja around you guys and retreated when Konoha ninja arrived. He told me himself. Madara told me that Obito was nothing but a pawn to him. The Obito that lives today is nothing more than a pawn. He has given up hope for his old life. He wants what Madara wants. He wants it more that I want to be hokage. It is his driving force for still living" Naruto said
"I…" Kakashi paused
"It's ok sensei. You don't have to believe me now. Let's just focus on the exams and the invasion for now." Naruto said as he dispelled.
With Sakura
"Hey Sakura." Naruto said as he tapped on the girl's window.
"Naruto? What are you doing here. I thought you were on a mission?" Sakura asked
"I'm a shadow clone. We need to talk. Meet me out front." Naruto said as Sakura nodded.
In 5 minutes Sakura was walking outside.
"What did you want to talk about Naruto?" Sakura asked
"I need to know you motivation. Why are you a ninja?" Naruto asked
"What do you mean?" Sakura asked
"In my memories Sakura you and Sasuke are my closest friends. Three years apart only makes me and you closer. I know a lot about you as a person. There was a point where you lied to my face to protect me. You told me that you loved me, so I would give up on bringing back Sasuke. It didn't work because I didn't believe you. It wasn't even that you were unconvincing, it was just that I knew you better to know that you hadn't given up on Sasuke like I hadn't. You initially joined the academy to be like your parents. You stayed and gained the top kunoichi spot for Sasuke. Between team 7 formation and Sasuke leaving, you still had your crush on Sasuke, but you also started to see me and sensei as family and wanted to keep that together. When Sasuke left you were motivated to get him back. You never lost that motivation. Today you don't nor will you ever have that motivation. You'll never be as good as the Sakura of my memory if you don't have motivation. What motivates you?" Naruto asked
Sakura sat and pondered that question for a moment. Naruto was right. She was motivated before by her parent's and then Sasuke. She still had her crush on Sasuke, but that wasn't motivating her to train harder. What pushed her to train hard. It then hit her hard.
"We're a team. At this point there is still things I don't like about you guys, or that I don't know, but at the end of the day you guys are my team, my friends, family. I won't let any of you suffer when I can be there to prevent or treat that suffering." Sakura said with determination. This caused Naruto to smile at his closest friend in his memories.
"I like that answer Sakura. I fully expect you to surpass Tsunade three years from now." Naruto said as he dispelled.
Back with Naruto and Jiraiya
"She's in the next town over. We are far enough for her to not notice your chakra. We can rest here for the night and then approach her in the morning before she can attempt to leave." Mito said. She decided to drop the transformation for the trip. This was time for her and her godfather to bond once again.
"That's good. There's a hotel that probably has a room for us for the night." Jiraiya said
"Let's go." Mito smiled
The next morning the duo woke up early and headed out.
"Where is she?" Jiraiya asked
"She is walking out of her hotel room with Shizune now." Mito said as she blurred off.
"Huh?" Tsunade reacted in shock before she was tackled hugged by a blond blur.
"Aunty." Mito said as she snuggled further into Tsunade. From the memories she knew that Tsunade was her last living blood relative. Although Karin and Nagato were Uzumaki and alive, Tsunade was a direct relative. Mito Uzumaki was grandmother to Tsunade, but also great aunt to Kushina. This made the two cousins. Her memory showed that she called Tsunade grandma, but in actuality she was really an older cousin.
"Who is this brat?" Tsunade said as she turned back to Shizune.
"I can explain that." Jiraiya said as he walked up
"Jiraiya? What are you doing here? What do you mean you can explain? Were you planning on doing something perverted?" Tsunade asked
"No, this is our goddaughter Mito." Jiraiya said to the shock of the two older women
"My goddaughter? I thought she died without Minato and Kushina." Tsunade said as tears started to fall
"Not out here." Shizune said as she pushed Tsunade back into the hotel and into their room
"There is a lot I have to tell you. It all started the night I failed my graduation exam for the third time." Mito started as she explained her memories and then jumped into her new life and what she knew was still coming regardless of changes.
"This is serious." Shizune said
"If it wasn't for you, I probably still wouldn't go back. If just Jiraiya came I would deny coming back. Not only do you want me to return, but become hokage as well in the off chance that sensei dies this time. I'll do it, but for you Mito-chan. I missed out on 12 years and I won't miss anymore." Tsunade said with determination.
"That's good to hear. We really need to hurry and get back so you can get started on training your second apprentice." jiraiya said
"Why should I train her? She doesn't have the same motivation as before to train hard and excel in my training." Tsunade said
"You're right." Mito said cutting off Jiraiya. "She has a better motivation. I sent shadow clones to talk to my team individually last night. She is motivated by us. Her exact words were 'We're a team. At this point there is still things I don't like about you guys, or that I don't know, but at the end of the day you guys are my team, my friends, family. I won't let any of you suffer when I can be there to prevent or treat that suffering.' She is motivated, but this time for the right reasons. She won't fail you or us. She will surpass you in three years." Naruto said confidently
"I await the day." Tsunade said as she hugged her goddaughter one more time for the road. After they left out and ran back toward Konoha with Naruto back in his transformation.
They returned to Konoha a few hours later,only to be informed that lord hokage wanted to see them. They quickly made that trip and then walked in through the door, with the exception of Jiraiya and Naruto. Naruto flashed in while Jiraiya entered through the window.
"Why can't you two be normal?" Hiruzen grumbled. "Anbu leave us. Allow no entry."
The anbu flickered out of the room and stood guard at the door on the outside. Hiruzen then activated his privacy seals.
"We've been informed of everything sensei." Tsunade said
"That is good, that means that it won't have to be repeated. I need the three of you back here. Tsunade you are in charge of Sakura's training for the next month, while Shizune will assume control of the hospital for you. Once the exams start you can assume control. Jiraiya of course you are in charge of helping Mito here with anything she could need to better herself. We have to act clueless for the most part, so Orochimaru doesn't change his plans to the point where we can't predict what will happen. That means until the end of the exams you will have to remain as Naruto. After you reach chunin rank, which you will be either my word or Tsunade's, you can reveal yourself as a girl. Just as before your secrets are yours to tell." Hiruzen said as the others nodded. "If no one has more to add then you all are dismissed."
"Hai." The shinobi replied
Naruto grabbed the group and flashed away to training ground 7. When they arrived they saw the rest of team 7 waiting for their arrival.
"Guys this is aunt Tsunade. She's really an older cousin plus my godmother. This is her apprentice Shizune. This is my godfather Jiraiya." Naruto introduced.
"Hi, I'm Sakura." Sakura greeted
"Sasuke." Sasuke said
"Yo." Kakashi greeted. He knew all of them already. He and Shizune were in the same class. Him and Jiraiya had always been on good terms because of their mutual connection to Minato. He had never known Tsunade personally, but he saw her a few times in his youth. She would always come to visit Kushina.
"Aunty, Sakura has an eidetic memory and near perfect chakra control now. Her reserves are that of a mid level genin. That should be enough infor to get started." Naruto said
"That's actually a good starting point. When I first got interested my chakra control wasn't as good as hers and I didn't have an eidetic memory. Her reserves are lower than I hoped, but most medics don't have the biggest reserves. Out of my team I had the smallest amount of chakra, but the best control." Tsunade said
"Sensei, there isn't anything I can really tell you about Sasuke that would help with the training. The only thing I can say is that Sasuke has a strong lightning affinity with a slight one towards fire. Although in my memories he used the chidori irresponsibly, I know that this time he won't. Besides what Sasuke was able to do with that starting point is crazy. The jutsu he created from the chidori are crazy strong and they were all his doing." Naruto said
"Alright, I'll teach him the chidori. He'll be above chunin level when I'm done though." Kakashi said
"That's good sensei. I guess that's all that needs to be said." Naruto said
"What about you? What are you going to be learning?" Kakashi asked
"My clan's specialty, fuinjutsu. I went through a whole lifetime without learning much of it, I won't waste that time again. Besides with everything I know from my memories I don't need to learn much else for the time being. I should also look into kenjutsu too, but that can wait for now. Maybe during that month between the finals we can all switch teachers and learn something new." Naruto said as he walked away and waved to his teammates with Jiraiya following.
"Let's go Sakura. For the first week I'm going to have you memorize everything you can." Tsunade said. She wondered if her counterpart had known this piece of info or not. If she hadn't and Sakura still turned out so good in 3 years, then this time three years would really make Sakura into a ninja to be reckoned with.
"Hai sensei." Sakura replied
"I'm going to start my duties as head of hospital." Shizune as she walked away from the pair.
No words were exchanged between Sasuke and Kakashi. Kakashi just placed his hand on Sasuke's shoulder and body flickered away.
