A/N- I HOPE THAT YOU ARE ALL STILL THERE TO READ SENSE I HAVE BEEN GONE SOOOOOOO LONG AND I AM REALLY SORRY! BUT I HOPE YOU LIKE THIS CHAPTER! GOING TO TRY AND MAKE IT TO 2000 WORDS!
Cammie's POV
We passed an old gas station that looked like it should be deserted, but lights still glowed a soft yellow and a truck was hooked up to a pump.
"Macey, we are in the middle of nowhere," I muttered as we continued along the road that seemed to stretch for miles, we had only been driving for about 15 minutes, but still I thought we would be there by now… if there even was a 'there'.
"Pshh, The Orchard is the opposite of nowhere." It was almost completely dark outside, and it was hard to tell where we were going.
"Macey the turn is right ahead." Bex instructed,
"Yes I know where the turn is thank you very much; I have been here a million times-"
"Now Macey!" Bex shouted from the back seat, Macey jerked the wheel to the right and we turned down a dirt road. I glanced out the window. I saw a wooden fence with metal wiring covering the gaps that people may try to climb through, not that you couldn't jump it if you wanted. I had a feeling it was more to keep animals out though. It seemed to continue you for a good few miles. The headlights of the car revealed a sign, it was faded and unreadable in the dark, but looked like it had a cherry or something on it. Bex lowered her window and I could hear the faint hum of music.
"It seems people have gotten the party started." Liz said leaning across Bex and sticking her head out the window.
"The party don't start till I walk in." Macey said and I smiled. I thought I could make out light coming out of the trees that lined the other side of the fence. The music had gotten significantly louder; cars had been parked all along the road. I seemed to have completely forgotten about Zach and Matt and everything that had been bothering me when we left the house. Macey pulled into an empty spot and removed the key from the ignition.
"Ready for the best night of your life?" Macey asked and I couldn't help but smile. I nodded and we all I hopped out of the car.
We walked in a line towards the opening in the fence. Liz was on the left, then Bex, me and Macey. I almost felt like we should hold hands. When we emerged on the other side, my eyes widened. It was a huge clearing with a few trees dotted here and there, the ground was brown and all the grass had been worn away from years of kids dancing and walking about on it and tonight was no exception, it was busting with kids, starting from juniors in high school to seniors in collage. Bright spotlights were up in the trees so you could see where you were going. There was a large table set up with a guy selling beer in red plastic cups and a large set of speakers were blasting music. All around the outside of the clearing were apple trees, in neat rows, old wooden ladders disappeared up into their branches. I guess that was why they called it The Orchard.
"Wow," I managed to say and they all laughed,
"I knew you would love it! Okay so let's go get something to drink!" Macey said with a squeal and started towards the guy with the beer. This place was pretty cool. I was surmised the girls hadn't brought it up before now to be honest. I could see a few pick-nick tables dotted around too, some had a couples laying on top of them, making out... presumably already drunk. Macey shoved a cup of beer into my hand and I stared down at the white froth that guarded the gold liquid underneath.
"Drink up Cam!" she bashed her cup against mine and took a large gulp. I pause for a moment before doing the same.
"Why haven't you brought me here before?" I asked, and she laughed.
"Because a lot has been going on I guess." The she smirks "I didn't like you before."
"True," we share a look before laughing again. Now that knew Macey, she wasn't that bad, in fact she reminded me of Grace. I was convinced they would get along really well if they ever met. I glanced around and realised that Bex and Liz had wondered off already. I turned back to Macey to see her back retreating towards a group of people that I recognised from our school, but have never talk to before; well except for the boy with brown hair stood in the middle with a cigarette between his lips. At first I felt a bit angry as I watched him laugh and blow out a cloud of smoke.
I took another large sip of beer before striding over towards him and the others. Macey was talking to some guy and wasn't paying attention to me, neither was Matt. His back had been turned to me.
"Dude!" someone shouted and they all laughed. I took a deep breath before making my presences known.
"Hey," Matt spun around at the sound of my voice.
"Cammie!" he said, shock evident in his features. I just stand there not sure what to say, he stank of smoke and alcohol. Who the hell was this? This was not the Matt that I had gone out with two nights ago.
"Wh-what are you doing here?" he asks shakily, my eyes dart to the cigarette in his hands, and his eyes follow. He drops it onto the ground and steps on it like its poison. Well I guess it kind of is.
"It's not what it looks like Cammie I was just..."
"I don't care." I say harshly and his eyes widen. My face softens, "I don't care... if you smoke."
"You don't?" he looks confused. Everyone else in the little circle is not so subtly listening in on our conversation, not that is was very interesting... probably waiting for some real drama.
"Nope. Why would I care? I don't have a reason to." That wasn't true. I was his girlfriend. Of course I could care, and I did, but I didn't want people to see me as a clingy, controlling girlfriend.
"Cammie, don't be silly. You can care, it's nothing." I nod and press my lips together.
"You're right, I do care, but I don't mind. If you want to smoke and shorten your life span fine, I'm not going to stop you." I take a step closer. I saved myself from a massive over reaction. I never liked guys that smoked, but I liked Matt before I knew that he did so, why should it make a difference?
"Cammie,"
"No, really I'm okay with it, just..." I paused "just don't do it around me okay?" he laughs lightly and nods,
"Sure," and then he kisses me, the kiss, (surprise, surprise) tasted like cigarettes and beer, but I didn't mind, it was still sweet. I was the first to pull back. I wanted to escape these people, who thought my business was theirs for some reason. I gave him a small smile before heading away, not really wanting to talk to Matt right now anyway, he was the reason that Zach wouldn't talk to me.
No, Cammie you are the reason that Zach won't talk to you.
Fine, but it made me feel guilty for some reason. My heart ached at the thought of Zach ignoring me. I headed over to an empty pick-nick table and sit up onto of it, taking smaller sips of the bitter beer still in my hand. I had come here to have a fun time and try to forget my problems and here I am barely escaping a dramatic scene. I had heard that Matt was a bad boy, maybe it was because he smoked... if so then it's a relief, not as bad as people made him out to be. I tried not to make eye contact with anyone, not want to have to talk. Sometimes you don't get what you want...
"Cam?" I smiled at Andy, he smiled back.
"Andy, hi," he looked around with a puzzled expression,
"Are you here alone?" I shook my head
"No, I'm just taking a break from the crowds. What are you doing here?" He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly,
"I, ah, I'm here with a girl..."
"Oh," I say with a hit of disappointment before smiling again, "Cool," he smiled,
"You don't mind?"He asked, I laughed
"Why would I mind?"
"I don't know, just well I was kind of pushy I guess... and now..." he trailed off and scratched his neck again.
"I have a boyfriend," I say, trying to make I'm feel less awkward,
"Oh- sorry," I laughed and glanced over his shoulder seeing someone who I had been thinking about all night. Zach was walking through the gap in the fence with Grant and Jonas at his heals. He was wearing dark jeans and a red checked flannel shirt, he looked hot... sexy even, no doubting that, weather you were single or not... his eyes locked on mine and he ran a hand through his hair before heading towards me. I looked away and back to Andy.
"No, its fine... last time we talked it wasn't official. Besides, it's good to see you again, don't k now many faces here." He chuckled and my grip tightened on the now empty, plastic cup as Zach stopped behind Andy.
"Cammie," I jumped a little at his voice, before forcing a smile,
"Zach," Andy turns to look at Zach, offering him a nod, which Zach returns.
"Cammie can I talk to you for a second?" I open my mouth to reply, but another voice beats me to it.
"So this is your boyfriend then?" Andy says before holding out his hand to Zach, "Nice to meet you, I'm Andy."
"Zach," Zach replies, his facial expression tight. I suppose this didn't look very good. Me talking to another boy, obviously older than I who seemed to know me rather well.
"Actually, he's not my boyfriend." Andy raised his eyebrows questioningly.
"Really?"
"I'm, not her boyfriend." Zach says shaking his head, and I nod in agreement.
"I'm her boyfriend." Everyone turns to see matt stood there looking rather annoyed. My heart rate was officially beating a thousand miles a minute. What are the odds of the three boys that I have had feelings for were all within two feet of each other I and I was with them... the only one missing was Josh, but hadn't seen him in about a month and he was in a different state.
"Matt, this is Andy, Andy this is Matt." I say in a struggle to prevent an awkward situation. Too late. All three of them were giving each other... not very friendly glances
"How do you know Cammie?" Matt asks Andy
"We meet at a party, a few weeks ago. You?"
"I go to school with her." I bit my lip and crushed the cup in my hands.
"I think I'm going to go and catch up with me date then." said Andy, he turned and smiled at me, "Good to see you again Cammie."
"You too," and with that he leaves, and I am sat on a table, with Zach and Matt staring at Andy's retreating trigger. They both turn to me,
"Who the hell was that?" they ask simultaneously. Accusation laced their tone of voice.
"A friend." I snapped defensively
"You're my girlfriend." Matt says angrily
"As of two nights ago, I wasn't when I met him." well this relationship was getting complicated quickly. He was already getting jealous over nothing.
"Look Cammie, You're mine right now and-"
"Yours?" Zach intervened as I was getting ready to shout. "She isn't property, asshole!" he shoved him backwards and my stomach dropped.
"You're just resentful, I have her and you don't; well f*ck you Goode." Matt hissed with a smirk, and then Zach's fist collided with Matt's face.
