Act 7~Akt 7—Rehearsals: Day Two & Christmas

Narrator's POV

The birds were chirping, and Ahiru batted her eyes open as she saw Fakir sleeping peacefully next to her. She smiled as she leaned over to kiss him gently.

"What, hu?"

Fakir woke up and looked to see Ahiru who had a guilty look on her face, but he gave her that earnest, kind smile that always made her heart skip a beat and her face to become flushed.

"Morning."

Fakir sat up to kiss her as Ahiru froze for a moment, but she leaned into him.

"It's a nice morning isn't it?"

Ahiru asked as they leaned their foreheads against each other.

"It is now."

Fakir smiled at her as Ahiru looked down for a moment.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you."

Ahiru seemed to be very guilty.

"It's fine, we have to start getting ready for rehearsal anyway."

Fakir got up and went to his room to change.

"Yeah, you're right."

Ahiru jumped out of bed and began to get ready. They finished getting dressed, had a quick breakfast and were on their way to school; however, this time they were holding hands. There were plenty of stares along with plenty of whispers; Ahiru seemed to be more uncomfortable as more people were paying attention to them. Fakir was beginning to grow angry and began to shoot people the death glare, to which everyone became frightened and went back to doing whatever they were doing before Ahiru and Fakir arrived, though one thing remained on their minds,

"When did this happen? Fakir and Ahiru?"

"Alright classh! Let'sh begin with a quick warm up and we'll begin rehearshing the opening dance."

Thus after Mr. Cat's instructions, everyone began stretching and warming up.

"Hey."

Fakir got Ahiru's attention.

"What is it Fakir?"

Ahiru began stretching alongside Fakir.

"I just wanted to tell you to stay focused, I know everyone's been making it kind of awkward lately, so just ignore them and stay focused."

Fakir stated sternly as he continued to stretch.

"Of course I'll stay focused! Nothing will distract me!"

Ahiru threw a fist in the air, with the look of determination on her face.

"Missh Ahiru, if you're all finished, why don't you get back to warming up sho we can begin?"

Mr. Cat looked quite aggravated.

"Oh, of course Mr. Cat. Sorry."

Ahiru bowed as Mr. Cat walked away, and every one went back to warming up. Fakir tried to hold back a smile as they finished stretching and began to rehearse the opening dance. It was hard work becoming accustomed to working together as well as individually, there were few mistakes, but everyone worked very hard.

"Alright classh, good job! Now why don't you all go and have an hour long break."

Mr. Cat finished clapping as everyone went off to rest for an hour.

"Whew, I've never worked so hard in all my life."

Ahiru was fanning herself as she held a damp towel and was cooling off.

"You did great Ahiru."

Fakir patted her on the back as she smiled at him, leaning against him for support.

"You did a great job too Fakir!"

Ahiru looked up at him and smiled.

"Well, this escalated rather quickly."

Pike came by and sat down across from them.

"Yes, yes finally the little duck nailed her prince."

Lillie smiled as she sat by Pike and began to eat her meal.

"It's about time all this happened."

Pike placed a hand over her mouth as she smiled and giggled to herself.

"Mmmhmm."

Lillie nodded and they continued to eat.

"Well well, congratulations Ahiru, Fakir!"

Miranda smiled and sat by Ahiru.

"Even a duck-like girl like you can get a man, good job Ahiru."

Calypso winked at Ahiru as she sat next to Miranda.

"Hmph, I guess everyone gets lucky."

Georgiana scoffed as she sat next to Calypso and began daintily eating her celery.

"Oh I just love love!"

Olive squealed as she sat by Georgiana.

"So, how'd this happen?"

Miranda questioned Ahiru, as all the other girls gathered round, and even some boys, to hear their story, and as Ahiru blushed, she began with how they became a couple.

"Well, now that the whole world knows, do you think I can eat my lunch?"

Fakir asked as the majority of the crowd commented by saying "owws," and "awws." Though after hearing about it, the majority went back to their own meals.

"Oh Fakir, I'm sorry. Here, I made you a homemade bento lunch."

Ahiru handed Fakir a neatly wrapped boxed lunch.

"Wow, you made this, thank you."

Fakir smiled as he hugged her, thanked her for the meal and began eating with a pleased expression on his face.

"No problem, I'm glad you like it."

Ahiru smiled as she began to eat her own lunch. As they continued to have lunch and everyone teased them, but before they knew it, and hour passed and it was back to rehearsal.

As the rehearsal came to an end, everyone came to the realization that the next few weeks passed quickly and before everyone knew it, Christmas had arrived. Everyone gathered at the school's Christmas party, and Fakir and Ahiru were caught under the mistletoe and were encouraged to kiss. Having not much of a choice, they shared their first kiss in public, though they were very embarrassed, it felt like there was a bit of relief. However, Ahiru was so embarrassed that she tried to pull away, but Fakir simply held her tightly, thus she hid in his chest, Fakir shot everyone glance that sent chills down their spine.

"Here Ahiru, this is for you. Merry Christmas."

Fakir handed Ahiru a small box wrapped in white wrapping paper with a silky black bow.

"And this if for you Fakir, Merry Christmas."

Ahiru handed him a rather large box, whose length was larger than its width. As Ahiru opened her gift, she gasped, as she gently pulled out a semi-long white-gold chain that sparkled like a thousand stars, there was a midsized pendant that resembled two beautifully detailed ballerinas that were back to back. They were gracefully posed and looking back at one another and both their bodies made of the finest silver, one had a tutu made of white pearl and pearl pointe shoes, and her headdress was made of small diamonds. The other had a black pearl tutu with black pearl pointe shoes, and her headdress was made of black diamond pearls. Ahiru began to feel teary eyes as she looked at her beautiful gift.

"It's beautiful, thank you."

Ahiru walked up to him, but before doing anything, she saw his surprised expression, she was glad to see him pleased.

"Merry Christmas Fakir."

Ahiru approached him as she simply continued to gaze upon his handsome face. Fakir's gift was an exact replica of Mytho's (Prince Siegfried's) sword. He smiled brightly as he observed the magnificent details and he turned to look at her to thank her.

"Thanks Ahiru, it's the best Christmas gift I've ever had."

Fakir put the sword away before going up to her and hugging her closely before kissing her gently.

"Me too Fakir, this is the best Christmas I've ever had."

Ahiru hugged him gently as they sat by the fire, admiring their precious gifts. They all began to sing Christmas carols as Fakir and Ahiru gazed at each other and whispered words of love as they began to join in on the singing, and just like that Christmas came and went.
