~Luck of the Unwanted

Chapter 16

Lucy's POV

Lisanna was right. I as a murderer. If it wasn't for me, my mother wouldn't be dead right now. She would have never had to jump in front of me. Too protect me. My father would have never had to go through the pain of looking at someone that was almost an exact replica of his wife. He would have never had to blame his hurting on me.

"Get up Lucy. We're going." Natsu said as he firmly grabbed my arm. I stood with him easily as he started to pull me along. Natsu was tense and I knew it. I didn't want to be the cause of all of his pain. It was my fault after all that he and Lisanna are breaking up….

All my fault.

Everything bad that happens in others' life is my fault. Mom, dad, Lisanna, Natsu…. Who else have I hurt?

"N-Natsu wait! I… don't know what came over me! It's like something possessed me and suddenly there were alarms going off. Please, understand. Please… trust me." Lisanna said suddenly behind us as her voice started to strain from most likely tears. Suddenly Natsu started to shake and his body temperature increased. He grabbed my arm tighter but not to where it hurt just yet.

"Trust you? Trust you?! You expect me to trust after everything you have done?! How I can I trust you if I can't even allow Lucy to go get a soda without being traumatized. Do you know what she has been through?" Natsu asked as he flung his left arm turning back to face her.

His words… they were somewhat right. What I had to go through since Lisanna did that…

First, I was locked up in a little cell that was in the security office. Then, a translator had to call Natsu and he came and 'bailed' me out. After that, he and I fought and I threw my whiteboard in his face telling him about my… situation and ran off getting lost in my home town. After that, I ended up collapsing as my memories returned. And to top it all off, my used-to-be best friend 'saves me' before trying to kill me. Thankfully Natsu had a change of heart and came just in time to save my life. In the end, I still ended up getting knocked out though.

I would have to say I went through a lot.

After that statement, Lisanna returned to being quiet and Natsu turned back around and continued being dragged.

We walked back towards the building in silence. There was really nothing to say. That and I left my board back with Natsu thinking that I wouldn't need it. Lunch period was basically over and it wouldn't be long before we had to go to fifth period (I can't remember if it was 3rd or 4th that I made their lunch. Sorry!)

W walked around the track for a little while before slowly making our way back towards the building just before the bell rang. We walked into the extremely crowded cafeteria going almost unknown and camouflaging in with the surrounding kids. When we reached our table, most of our friends had cleared out except a few stragglers such as Levy, Gajeel, Loke, and Gray. How they got Juvia away from him is beyond me.

"Lu-chan? Natsu? Where were you guys? We were all having a debate and I look and the two of you were gone." Levy said looking up in thought.

"Yeah flamebrain, weren't getting kinky with your sister now were you?" Gray asked a smug look adorning his features. A bright red blush covered my face as I fainted the urge to collapse.

"Gray! How-" Levy started only to be interrupted.

"Why, are you just jealous that I might get some and you not icecube?" Natsu asked as his face copied Grays.

"Natsu! You-"

"Well candlestick for your information-"

"STOP! No one wants to hear this conversation any further!" Levy screamed as she stood in between the two, an exasperated look on her face as Gajeel just laughed like a maniac in the background muttering incoherent words about the two.

"Well I must be going, the bell is about to ring if not already. Come on Lu-chan, we have creative writing next. Here is your board; I managed to protect it from the evils at lunch." Levy explained. I signed a quick 'thank you' but I don't know if she understood or not. Out of everyone though, I would expect Levy to be the one that knew the most sign language.

We walked into Laki-sensei's class as the late bell was ringing earning a better-be-glad glance from her desk. Today was the start of a new project and she was eager to explain what to do.

Oh joy.

It seemed like forever before sixth period was finally over. What made it worse though was that next was gym. Meaning a competitive Erza and demon MiraJane. Meaning evading angry dodge balls that they dodge and are sent spiraling for my face.

What a wonderful way to spend my afternoon.

Today was supposed to be different though. Instead of playing dodge ball, we were going to be running around the track doing 100-meter sprints, 200-meter sprints, etc.

I was somewhat looking forward to it. Then again, it seems like with everything else going on, something is bound to happen. At least it won't be a 96 mph fastball into my face though because, believe me, it hurts.

`We all stood on the football field as coach Laxus explained what we were going to do today. He had on his normal gym attire with shorts and a shirt accompanied by an annoying silver whistle that sometimes I wish I could run over with a bus.

"Alright class today we will be doing various running and jumping exercises today so partner up!" And with that he blew that ever so annoying whistle. I looked around, almost lost. I didn't know who to partner up with.

Suddenly, Mira came around a corner of kids and linked arms with me.

"Hey Lucy want to partner up?" She asked kindly. But I knew what was behind that smile. I was going to reach for my board when I realized that I left it with my stuff in the locker room. Not like she would have given me enough time to respond anyway.

"Great. You see, today is one of the few days that Lax- I mean coach Laxus allows us to do this sort of thing. Normally he hates doing it because some people like to cheat and he doesn't like to have to pretty much babysit seniors. Basically, we need to beat Erza. This will prove that all throughout our childhood when she would say that just because I was girly, I couldn't get down. I- I mean we will put her in her place today. What do you say?" Mira asked as she held out her hand. I looked down at it before I started to really think this threw.

If I was going to be Mira's partner, that also meant my main opponent would be the devil herself Erza. But then again, I can't go without a partner or else I will get an F as a participation grade. Well Mira, great doing business with you. I shook her hand and a wicked smile crossed over her face.

"Great. I think if it's you, she might let her guard down a bit. When that happens BOOM! Strike." Mira yelled smacking her hands together for emphasis. I jumped a bit unintentionally when she said that and my heart started to pound a little. She was planning on putting me out on the front lines to face Erza head on almost by myself. She must have noticed my shaking because she started to giggle quietly to herself.

"Oh don't be afraid Lucy. It's just Erza we are talking about."

Yeah, just Erza.

"Alright class, first up is the 100-meter dash." Laxus said yet again blowing that freaking whistle.

It was team vs. team just like Mira had said. Do they do this a lot? She said it doesn't happen much so that means that they have at least done it before…

In the 100- meter it was simply a race. The first member would run the 100 meters and once he reached the end, he would turn and run back handing a baton to the second member who would then run to the finish line. Whichever team had both members finish first won.

The second was a little different though. Basically, the first member would run to the finish line and the second member would run to the second line and whichever team had them both finish first won.

I didn't really listen to the rest because it didn't apply to me. Mira and I were chosen for the 200-meter. Much to Mira's dismay, Erza was assigned to the 400-meter. Coach Laxus set up the 200-meter just as the 100-meter was ending meaning it was getting closer to my turn to run.

I got positioned in my square as Coach Laxus positioned his whistle in his mouth preparing to start to race. Adrenaline ran through my veins as I awaited the loud, stupid whistle to be blown. The whistle blew and my feet moved on their own.

I was making good time with the exception of the girl that was gaining speed behind me. I pushed my legs to keep going faster, ignoring the burning I felt in my legs. I don't run much, therefore 200-meters, sprinting, was somewhat of a stretch. My legs were getting weaker by the second and the girl was starting to catch up.

"Hang in there Lucy! You've got this!" Mira encouraged somewhere behind me.

I couldn't hear here for much longer though because, just like I thought, my legs were starting to go out.

And the blackness of the track was starting to get closer.

Holy crap! I am about to pass out. So last chapter, I had about 114 reviews and I asked that you guys give me 120+ reviews. Normally when i ask things like that, i basically get about 120 or 121. But about two days after i posted that chapter, I checked this fanfic and almost had a heart attack.

At first I didnt believe it and then i looked again and saw *drumroll* 143 REVIEWS!

I would have like to make this chapter better and longer but it is kind of late here and i have to eat and look at my undone homework trying to decide if i really want to do it or take the zero... then agin i am a straight A student and my parents will kill me... hmmm :/

Decisions Decisions...

Regardless, How has everyone been since last update?

Any requests? Let me know!

See you next monday! Over and out~
