Chapter 20

Lucy POV

And soon it was Christmas Eve and Natsu would not shut up about the mini Christmas party tonight. We still didn't know exactly what we were going to do, but we were going to most likely go hang out at Erza's house because we were broke after buying everyone in our group presents.

"Luuuuushi~ Will you at least give me a hint about what you got me for Christmas?" Natsu pleaded giving me puppy dog eyes. He had followed me all the way to and from the store, into the kitchen to put away the food, and all the way up to my room before I stopped him at my door to show him my facial expression.

'No.' It read.

"Oh come on. Just one tiny little clue." Natsu begged even steeping as low as folding out his hands and all but bowing so he could see what I would write.

'Natsu you only have like an hour and a half until you yourself get to open it. You'll be fine.' I wrote as I turned to go into my room.

I was going to shut my door but Natsu was too quick and put his foot in the way and, being stronger than me, managed to pry the door from my fingers.

I crossed my arms defeated making my way to my bed, sitting down crossing my legs staring as Natsu made his way to sit down across from me.

"Yeah, but Lucy, I won't have to wait if you tell me now." Natsu stated with a sly grin. I rolled my eyes and reached for the marker I had thrown down beside me.

'Or you could just wait and see. You'll like it.' I wrote.

"But-"

'NO!' I wrote before throwing the board at him with a playful smile on my face. Lately, we have become closer and he often comes in my room with me and just sits or we play cards or something. Then other times, I wake up in the morning by falling on my butt after he snuck in my bed sometime in the middle of the night.

And through all of that, it felt…. Somehow refreshing. It felt good to know that I can be around someone like this that doesn't pity me for my past or try to sympathize to my losses.

Natsu caught the board and laughed as he rolled over and let his head hang over the edge of the bed, hair nearly grazing the floor.

"I wish it could be like this forever. So carefree. Like we never have to grow up and act like stiff adults." He said. His statement surprised me a bit but I understood. I get that feeling a lot. He sat up and returned to his original position on the bed as I reached for my board and marker.

'Yeah. But life is what you make it. Just because you grow up doesn't mean you have t be a stiff adult.' I wrote as I showed it to him to see.

"I guess you're right. I still hope that I never become one of them though." Natsu stated. As if on cue, Grandine called from the living room for the two of to come down.

We made our way down the stairs and bright lights greeted us along with a happy Grandine, Wendy, and Igneel with happy smiles and Santa hats on. Wendy came up to me and shoved a hat in my hand and repeated the action with Natsu who looked at me in confusion. I just shrugged and decided I would put the hat on. Why not? It's not like it will hurt and plus, everyone looks so happy. Why not join in on the fun.

After looking at me, Natsu decided to just follow through and sighed. We made our way to where they were standing and I noticed a camera positioned a few feet away from the supper bright Christmas tree.

"Come on Natsu, Lucy. Are you going to sit around all day while we take our Christmas picture? Hurry Lucy! It will be the first one where you are a part of the picture!" Grandine shouted hi-tailing her way towards me and dragging my way positioned in front of the tree as Natsu slowly followed behind.

Why do I get the feeling he knew this was going to happen? Natsu…. I am going to kill you.

Then again, it is a sweet gesture and makes me happy they want to have a family portrait.

We all made our way to the tree where Grandine and Igneel stood respectively in the back; Natsu and I were positioned on the very end with him beside Igneel and me beside Grandine, and Wendy was positioned in the middle.

Igneel set a timer and we all posed for the flash. Only one problem existed; A branch was poking in my back and it was rather uncomfortable. I was trying to hold it in but eventually my body acted on my own and I moved a bit (a lot) causing Grandine to fall backwards knocking into Igneel and causing a chain reaction.

Just as the chain reaction was almost over, the timer went off and the picture was taken. When we looked, everything was in chaos except for Wendy who stood in the front, hands holding up to peace signs and smiling, oblivious to everything that was happening behind her.

When we looked at this picture, everyone laughed except Wendy, who smiled embarrassedly at her unawareness at what was really happening.

"D-d you think we should take another picture?" Wendy asked.

"No sweetheart. I think this one is perfectly imperfect." Grandine explained with a slight chuckle. Everyone nodded their heads in agreement at the declaration.

"I guess you're right. Lucy and I need to go though. It's starting to get late." Natsu explained as he went made his way towards the stairs.

He came back down a few seconds later with his coat and wallet in hand, and made his way to the door with me following his trail.

"Hey dad can I borrow your keys?" Natsu asked turning around. I wasn't expecting the sudden stop and all but crashed into his chest.

"Sure." He called and tossed the keys to Natsu. In all of the action, I nearly ran into someone's chest, got stabbed in the head with keys, and run into a door while rubbing my head. I should really look out from now on.

"Oh! Make sure you get home on time! Curfew is 1 o'clock and you don't want to miss Santa Claus! Have fun!" Grandine shouted. He voice muffled slightly when I shut the door to the house though.

I looked around for Natsu but couldn't seem to find him anywhere. I heard a noise from the garage though and assumed that he had already got in the car and cranked it up.

When I got in, I all but gasped in awe. In the garage were two cars: Grandine's minivan and a slick black Lamborghini.

Natsu blew the horn and brought me back to reality. I climbed into the passenger seat and buckled my seat belt. Natsu put the car in reverse and eased out of the garage. Once he finally made it to the road, he put the car in drive and started to fish tail down the road almost loosing control of the car.

Oh god.

I am going to die.

Hey guys! So we meet again as there is another exciting adventure between Natsu and Lucy. Sorry for such a short chapter. I felt like it was almost too early to have the Christmas party at Erza's so I decided to make a filler-like chapter. I hope you liked it! It was kind of hard to write it without making either too vague or too detailed so I hope I did ok.

How has everyone been since last Monday? I hope you have been well! My space bar is still acting up so forgive any mistakes due to that.

Thank you for all of the reviews I got on the last chapter! I got remotely between 10-15 (Too lazy to check right now) so I appreciate that.

I don't know if I have mentioned this, but I was planning on doing something special for you guys giving me over 200 follows. Originally I was going to add an extra update the week that it happened, but I haven't gotten around to it.

So instead I have decided I will publish an epilogue at the end to kind of wrap things up. How does that sound?

I hope you guys liked this! One thing you can remember me for is that I have the longest authors note at the end of every chapter XD
