Enjoy!

Chapter 7 -
"I came by to check on Jo. Seeing that I accidently hurt her, I brought some flowers to cheer her up." He turned towards Jo and slightly bowed as he handed her a dozen of small orange carnations. They were wrapped in red tissue paper with some glitter sprinkled on it.
"Uhhh, thank you Kise." Jo's stomach lurched when he held them out for her to take them. She took the flowers with a questionable look on her face, but a hint of happiness behind her eyes. No one besides her family had ever given her flowers.
"Anyways, I must return to campus, but I will see you all at the Inner High competition." He touched Jo cheek so gentle it felt like a butterfly had landed on her. He winked at her and turned on his to leave.
Jo looked one more time at Kise as he left then looked at back at the group. Most of them had either a jaw dropping look or a look like they were biting their lip to not laugh.
"Uh Jo… are you and Kise… dating?" Coach asked as she walked towards Jo and stared at the flowers.
"No!" A male voice yelled from the teammates.
Everyone looked at where the voice came from. They all looked at Kagami. He suddenly turned as red as the new shoes he wore. He looked really angry and annoyed.
"I mean, no one should date while we are getting ready to defeat the generation of miracles. Anyways, we are losing valuable practice time. Let's go guys." Kagami stormed off onto the court. After a couple exchange of looks, everyone but coach and Hyuga went to practice.
"It's just simple flowers. We are not even close to dating. Sure he's good looking, but I don't think he's my type." Jo looked down at the flowers and looked back to Adia.
"Well, if I remember correctly from research during world history. Orange might not mean the same there as it does here. Neither does a carnation." Hyuga rubbed the back of his head as he spoke.
Jo arched an eyebrow. "It's a fall color and a simple inexpensive flower. It's the kind you could pick up practically anywhere. Why? What does it mean here?" She suddenly felt very nervous thinking back to her culture classes.
"Both the color and the flower mean love." Coach said chuckle.
"Just be careful around that boy. He's a revolving door of girls. I wouldn't want you to get hurt." He patted her shoulder and headed to the court.
"I agree with Hyuga, be careful about any of the guys around here. You are far away from home. If you need someone to talk to, I am here."
Jo smiled and thanked coach as she went back to the court.
Jo just stood there for a moment staring at the flowers. She then looked the team. They were running laps around the court. She saw Kagami. He still looked very angry.
Why did Kise do this? Why did he give me these? Why did Kagami react that way? Is it because he was annoyed at not practicing oooorrr… no no way. Nope. Jo he doesn't think of you like that. Kise just gets under his skin is all. Anything Kise does annoys the crap out of Kagami.
Dumb founded on the whole situation that just unfolded just moments ago, Jo sat on the bench near the court. She laid down the flowers beside her. She watched the group run in circles. She heavy sighed and put her chin in her hands as she rested them on her knees. She felt very overwhelmed. Now not only did her head hurt, but now her stomach made her want to hurl.
Practice was incredibly boring from the sidelines. She still had two more days of this nonsense. She looked every once and a while at the flowers from the corner of her eye, but every time she did, she felt sick to her stomach.
An hour later, practice had finally ended. Coach called for a huddle. She walked over to them and shoved her hands in her pockets. The guys were dripping with sweat and were attempting to catch their breath.
Coach did the usual post practice pep talk. Once dismissed Jo began to walk to the locker room, when Kuroko spoke to Jo.
"Jo, you are forgetting your flowers." Jo was startled by the sudden presence of Kuroko.
She looked back and saw the flowers that still laid on the bench. She heavy sided and turned to get them.
She grumbled as she entered the locker room. She heard the showers and it seemed as if most of them were occupied since no one was near the lockers. She quickly grabbed her bag and snuck out of the locker room. She wanted to get home and just pretend like this whole day never happened.
Jo arrived at her apartment and felt a relief wash over her. Once she entered her sanctuary she closed her door, laid the flowers on her dining room table and flopped on her couch. She just laid there tried to relax.
Ok, this day went downhill very quickly. I've got to think of something to take my mind off of it. I know, I haven' t explored much of the town since I got here and that was a main reason to visit was to explore. That will take my mind off of things.
She quickly changed into a pair of blue jean pants, a plain blue t-shirt, her daily basketball shoes and a baseball cap with her pony tail flowing through the hat's opening in the back. She put her wallet in one of her jean pockets and her cell phone in the other.
She took two steps at a time down the stairs and headed towards town.
Jo was in awe of the sheer magnitude of the buildings. The street vendors sold all kinds of merchandise, everything from jewelry to spare parts for vehicles. Soon her stomach notified her that it was near dinner time. She walked a bit and found a burger place. Once she ordered her food she sat down and began to eat. She texted a couple people while she ate.
"Jo?" a voice came from beside her. She nearly choked on her bite of food when they said her name and saw that Kuroko stood beside her.
"I think I will have a heart attack before the holiday break with you around Kuroko. Anyways, what are you doing here?" Jo put her phone away and offered a chair to Kuroko.
"Kagami and I were hungry after practice and decided to get a bite to eat." Kuroko turned around to look in the direction of Kagami who had just received his food. He walked towards Kuroko. Kuroko both Kuroko and Kagami sat at her table.
"You guys excited about the inner high?" Jo asked when she took a bite of her burger.
Kagami shrugged and took a huge bite of his burger.
What the? Ok that's just odd. Kagami not excited about ANY basketball game… something is up.
"O…k… I am excited. I wonder what the other the Generation of Miracles talents are like. Kuroko can you help me out?" Jo asked.
Kuroko took a slurp of his vanilla milkshake and looked deep in thought. Kuroko opened his mouth to answer when Kagami spoke up firmly and had a hint of irritation in his voice.
"Do you like Kise?"
Silence fell between the three of them.
"I will say this and I will only say this once. I think Kise and I can be friends but only that. He is not my type. Got it?" Jo crossed her arms and furrowed her brow.
Kuroko looked at Kagami and continued to drink his milkshake. Kagami crossed his arms and eyed her.
"Then why did he give you the flowers?"
"I don't know! He said he gave them to me because he wanted me to feel better."
"Why did he touch your cheek?"
Jo rolled her eyes, "I DON'T KNOW!"
She yanked up her tray and threw away her food and stomped out of the restaurant.
What an asshole! Oh of all the nerve. Who's business is it if I like someone or not?
She continued to grumble while she walked. When her phone went off for a text she looked at the text from her mother. She replied and looked up where she was. She looked from side to side and even behind her and nothing looked familiar.
Well… shit.
She continued forward desperate to find a location she could find that will reminder her how to get home. About 5 minutes passed and she came across a basketball court. A group of three teen guys were playing.
Hmm. Well, after I ask how to get home, maybe I could join in playing.
She approached them.
"Hey guys, I am kind of new around here and got a bit turned around. Can you tell me how to get the Seirin High School?"
The boys stopped playing and after the initial reaction of a tall woman, then gave her direction. She wasn't far from town, but she was a good twenty minutes from home.
"Thanks guys. You guys wouldn't be interested in a little two on two? I could join one of you."
They agreed. She joined one of the teens and began to play 21. The first two to 21 wins.
The score was soon 15 – 17 with her and her teammate in the lead. A group of large thugs came onto the court.
"Our turn dweebs. Hit the road." One of the men demanded and tossed his thumb towards the street.
"Dude, we just got here. We are almost done, then you can use it." One of the guys Jo played with said firmly.
"Not happening." One of the thugs shook his head and crossed his arms.
"How about a game of 4 vs.4? Four of your guys vs us four." Her teammate offered.
"Surely you are not counting on this woman to play with us."
"Don't underestimate her. We just met her, but we agree she is pretty good."
"You're on dork. Woman or no woman."
The thugs began the game. She hadn't seen such dirty playing since well… actually she hadn't seen this kind of bull in the NBA without having the refs being involved.
Jo guarded a man near the basket. He whispered as she was in front, "Well, you are pretty good. I bet you are good at other things too." He then grabbed her ass.
She stood straight up and whipped around with a slap aim for his face. He grabbed her wrist and wagged his finger in front of her face.
"Now now, some men like a woman that's rough, but I like a woman who just does as she is told."
She got livid and kneed him in the groin. He let go of her and she stumbled backwards. She felt hands grab her shoulders tightly. It was another one of the thugs.
"Let me go you blockheads!" she yelled out in a furious tone.
"Hey let her go." One of the guys shouted.
"Shut it you three." The thug that held Jo snapped.
Jo continued to kick and attempt to get loose but his grip was strong.
She saw the three of the guys she played with run off the court.
Thanks dorks. Assholes. I've got to do something. I can't be so helpless. Oh that's an idea! It'll hurt like hell but I have no choice.
She leaned forward and with all her might, she hauled her head backwards. She head butted the guy that held her. He cried out in pain and grabbed his bloody nose. Her head throbbed with pain. She opened her eyes to see she saw stars around her. When she turned to leave she ran into another thug. This time he wrapped around her body.
Damn it!
One of the other thugs grabbed her flaying legs.
"Now unlike my friend, the more you fight, the more I have fun." He gave her a disgusting smile.
She gritted her teeth than spat in his face. He growled. He pulled back his fist and punched her in her stomach.
"HEY!" An extremely angry voice carried over the court. She looked over in the direction of the voice, but another punch made contact and she closed her eyes in pain.
"HEY Let her go you assholes!" She knew that voice but who was it?
A gray suited young man sprinted towards the group. He tossed down his belongings as he ran.
"Kise?" She whispered.
"I said let her go!" he made it to the court and looked furious.
"What? Do you know this whore?"
Kise's yellow eyes looked like they were the devils own eyes.
"Take it back." He lowly growled to the men.
"Kise what are you doing here? You are going to get hurt. Run!"
"Like hell I will." He spat.
One of the thugs swung at Kise, but he was able to duck.
Kise swung at the thug that took the swing, but it missed him. Kise followed with a kick to the stomach.
"Kise?! What are you doing you idiot?" Another familiar voice called out from the other side of the court.
"I think he knows that girl." Jo heard a voice she didn't recognized.
"Girl?" Out of the corner of Jo's eye she saw Kagami and Kuroko standing behind the fence of the basketball court with the three guys who has played with her earlier.
Kagami looked back at the court just about the time the thug that held her body told his companion that held her feet to let go. The man who held her around her chest grabbed tighter and began to walk away. She was turned towards Kagami and Kuroko. Kagami turned a sheet a white that she didn't think existed.
"JO! He ran to the opening to the court as he dropped his bag. The three guys from earlier and Kuroko where close behind Kagami.
"Let her go you giant ape!" Kagami yelled and as he ran full speed towards the thug that held Jo. Another thug step in front and took the tackle from Kagami. They both fell to the ground.
"My, my, you are sure popular with the guys aren't you missy. I was just telling the other fella that this whore is coming with us."
"Stop calling her that!" Kise yelled as he took a ready stance and clenched his fists so tight his knuckles turned white.
Think Jo. There are five of them and now there are six of us. Math tells us we have the advantage.
She looked quickly around for a way out. She then saw a glimmer of light blue hair.
Kuroko! Seven of us! They don't seem to have noticed him yet. Ok this could work.
Jo called out to Kagami in English as she figured none of these would know what she said.
"Kagami! Listen to me! I've got a plan!" Kagami looked at her.
"Oi! Whats the bitch saying?"
"Watch it you fat gorilla!" Kise snarled. He walked towards Kagami as he could see where Jo was going with this even though he didn't know English.
"They haven't seen Kuroko yet. Let's do play number 52. You see what I mean? Kise can be Izuki."
Kagami looked around and it looked as if he ran the play in his head then smiled. He replied back in English, "Sounds good to me. You hurt?"
She huffed, "Later Kagami! Right now let's deal with this issue."
He nodded. He looked at Kise and smiled slightly.
"I know enough English to know this is going to be fun! I also remember your captain yelled that idea a couple times at the game to know what to do."
All three of them nodded and began to unfold the play. Kagami ran past the group of thugs. Kise stood in front of the thugs, then called out, "number 52. Go low Kurokocchi". He then called them every name in the book to get their attention and boy did it. Kise didn't budge even though they came closer. Even the thug that held Jo came towards Kise. She saw her idea was working. The thug's grip got loser, but it needs to be a bit looser. Then one of the thugs stumbled over something, but they looked down and saw nothing. They continued towards Kise. Kise then took off through the group like Kagami had done. When the man that held Jo turned around he ran smack into Kagami. That loosened the grip that between Jo's strength and the helpful hand of Kuroko that pulled her hand away from him. The thug turned around to see Kuroko shove Jo to give her running start to Kagami and Kise who waited on the other side of the thug. Kagami and Kise grabbed her and pushed her behind them.
I seriously can't believe that actually worked as well as it did. Great… wait... now what do we do? Epp.
