Disclaimer: I don't own Warriors. Erin Hunter does.
Summary: Ashgaze was banished from ThunderClan for his crimes. He's on his own now and searching for something. What will he find and how will he deal with his anger from getting caught?
Idea given to me by SecretClan. Enjoy! :)
Banished
I picked my way slowly the foliage that surrounded the Twolegplace. Every so often I would glance back the way I'd come. They didn't want me. I could have made the Clan so much stronger, and yet, Silverstar didn't choose me. I was the most senior warrior in the Clan, and yet the mouse-brained Firepelt got to be deputy.
Upon reaching the deafening Thunderpath, I looked back one more time. The four warriors that escorted me to the border were just specks on the edge of their territory. This will be the last time I see them at peace, if the stories are true.
I turned away and followed the Thunderpath. I tasted the disgusting air. Underneath the foul smell, there was a stale scent of cats. I followed it while taking in my surroundings. Nighttime here was so much brighter than back at camp. There were Twoleg nests lined along the Thunderpath and there were some kittypets peering at me curiously from inside.
Every time I came across an alley, I went in and investigated. If the stories were true, then they would be in one. However as the night wore on, I made no progress. They were all empty. No traces of them. My paws were starting to hurt from the hard path.
Maybe the stories weren't true. Maybe they disbanded after they lost their leader. A small voice in my head reminded me. I let out a growl of frustration. But then, the events of the past few moons came rushing back and it pushed me on. Each step mapped to a recent memory.
You need to eat and rest more, Silverstar. You're on your last life.
Rainpelt will make a good leader, if it comes to it, but I don't plan on joining StarClan anytime soon.
Rainpelt's blue eyes piercing into me as the rocks came crashing down on him from Snakerocks. His mouth forming his last unspoken words as the light went out from his eyes.
The new deputy of ThunderClan is Graystorm.
Graystorm's shriek of pain as a dog's mouth clamped around his neck. His gray eyes finding me in his last moments.
I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors and Graystorm may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of ThunderClan is Firepelt.
Firepelt's cry for help as she bobbed up and down in the river next to Sunningrocks. Silverstar racing to save her from out of nowhere. Silverstar's eyes narrowing as we made our way back to camp.
Your ruthlessness was always a factor, but I didn't think you'd actually do it. You're a murderer, Ashgaze, and ,I, Silverstar, banish you from ThunderClan.
"Well, I must say, you look like you're lost." A mew that came from behind me pulled me back into the present. "Looking for something, Ashgaze?"
I whipped my head around and stared at the tom standing there. His fur was jet black, the same color as mine. His brown eyes were the same shade of green as mine. Even his slim build was the same as mine. We looked exactly alike, except his scent told me he wasn't from the forest. "How do you know my name? Have we met before?"
"Ever wonder who your father is?" His eyes bored into mine.
I blinked several times. Snowfall, my mother, had kept it a secret, one that I asked her about a million times when I was still a kit. "It has crossed my mind a couple times." Then, understanding dawned on me. "Wait, you're saying that you are my father?"
"You are kind of slow for such a skilled murderer."
"What?" Astonishment colored my tone. How could he have known?
"Don't be so surprised. I've been watching you all your life from the borders of your Clan's territory. Snowfall was insistent that you grew up in the forest and away from me. " He unsheathed his claws. "Said my ruthlessness would be a bad influence. But look how you turned out. You developed it all by yourself."
I stared, not knowing what to say. Could he really be my father? We really were alike, but I had always imagined my father to be someone within ThunderClan. I closed my eyes and shook my head in disbelief. My father was a rogue?
A hard swipe slammed against my muzzle, drawing blood. My eyes snapped open. Anger filled me as I unsheathed my own claws. "What was that for?"
"For not trusting me." He lunged for me, but I was ready this time.
I dodged to the side and raked my claws through his pelt as he passed by. He let out a growl and charged me again, regaining his balance in a blink of an eye. He bowled me over and pinned me to the ground before I could react. The claws on his hind leg dug into my rear. The pain that I felt was staggering. It felt as if there were more claws than possible. I looked up at him and then at his hind paws. They were reinforced with dog teeth.
The stories! I looked back at him. "You're from BloodClan?"
He let out a snort. "You have a lot to learn. The forest cats only taught you the basics of fighting. BloodClan knows the rest. After the defeat of Scourge, we regrouped and trained ourselves to be better in every way. BloodClan was what you were looking for, wasn't it?"
I nodded vigorously, despite the pain of the hard path beneath me and the weight of him on top.
"Welcome to BloodClan then. We'll get our revenge soon." He climbed off me and as I looked around, there were more cats surrounding us, more lethal looking cats.
More than I could have ever imagined.
