WOW….Heh it's been a while…. ^^; I greatly apologize everyone…I've really tried to update this regularly but schools' been getting to me AND writer's block hasn't exactly helped…I also apologize again…Well you'll figure out why fairly quickly…But enough of that lets get on with the Chapter.
"Why'd it have to be there…..
Of ALL places…
Why did it HAVE to be there…"
Yoshi was stuck in constant thought as he, his wife and his friends walked the long path towards Blargg's Pit. Even though he had gone against his own wishes and returned to Blargg's Pit not even a week earlier; after becoming confident that Shelly hadn't been there, Yoshi had prayed that he would never have to return there again. However unfortunately it seemed the Stars weren't going to let him forget that terrible place so easily.
"Each star is located in a place somehow of importance to the person it belongs to…"
Yoshi replayed the Professor's explanation in his head. However doing so only caused him to glare in frustration.
"A place of importance….
How does this place hold ANY importance to me?"
Yoshi asked himself angrily.
"How does the place where I almost LOST my daughter, hold ANY importance!"
Completely exasperated Yoshi could only let out a huff in anger; catching the attention of his wife. Birdo slowed her walking pace and took Yoshi's wrist in her hand, causing him to break out of his reserved state. He looked up at her, Birdo gave him a empathetic look. She looked as if she was going to say something, however before she could speak Mario's voice suddenly broke the silence.
"Which way do we go from here Yoshi?" Looking ahead Yoshi saw that the trail now forked in two different directions. Distress plagued him again as he became aware that they now stood at the entrance of Blargg's Pit. For a moment he didn't respond, he just stared silently at the forked trail. Finally he gave a labored sigh.
"We go to the left….." He spoke, his voice weak. Birdo gave her husband another concerned stare, as the group slowly continued their way. As soon as the group set foot into the entrance of Blargg's Pit Yoshi felt the memories from 4 years ago flow into his head.
Flashback….
"She's NOT in her room Yoshi!" Birdo cried, rushing into her and Yoshi's bedroom. Yoshi looked up at his wife alarmed.
"What?" He gasped, looking over at their clock, it was 6:45am. Shelly was never up this early; normally she'd be up around 7:30 at the earliest. Yoshi quickly stood up, without a word he made is way down the stairs to the front door. Birdo followed him to the entryway. Yoshi quickly turned to her. "You stay here Birdo, in case she comes back…." Birdo quickly nodded, although fear was apparent in her face. Without another word Yoshi rushed out the door.
Back to present time….
Yoshi felt his body involuntarily shiver. That memory hadn't been a pleasant one. Taking a deep breath Yoshi tried to calm himself down, however within seconds Yoshi felt his heart begin to race.
"This place is HUGE, how do we even know where to start?"
Daisy's voice momentarily drove Yoshi out of his panicked state. The group stood in a clearing. Luigi suddenly looked at the nearest tree.
"Maybe we can get a better look from above…." he replied suddenly readying himself for the jump. Luigi leapt onto the closest branch and attempted to climb the tree however as soon as he put his foot on the branch, it snapped. Luigi landed on the ground with a thud. "Mama…mia…" he groaned rubbing his back.
"Are you alright? Dear?" Daisy asked concerned.
"Let a real jumper show you how the climbing's done" Mario laughed suddenly making a jump for the tree. However just like his brother, the branch snapped as soon as he put his weight on it.
"A REeeeeeal jumper huh?" Luigi laughed, Mario rolled his eyes at his younger brother irritated.
"These branches sure are brittle for a tree this size….." Daisy thought aloud as she helped her husband up. Yoshi looked up at the tree. It was definitely the largest and probably oldest tree in the area and the branches weren't exactly thin; it was unusual that they had snapped so easily. Yoshi stared at the where the branches had snapped for Luigi and Mario; the branches themselves were quite thick. Suddenly something caught Yoshi's eye. Just above where Luigi and Mario had tried to climb there was another place where a branch seemed to have snapped. Yoshi stared closely at it, to his shock the stump seemed to have a faint glow to it. Glancing to his right Yoshi saw a 3rd branch laying on the ground right under the glowing stump, this branch also held a faint glow that matched the stump. Intrigued Yoshi slowly walked over to get a better look at the branch.
"WELL LOOK WHO DECIDED TO COME BACK!"
Hmm wonder who decided to interrupt Yoshi's investigation? I'll give you all a hint…The mystery person is NOT part of the group….. I'm curious as to who you all think it is… :)
^^; Yeah now you all know why I've apologized…. This is probably the shortest chapter I've posted so far….Maybe not as short as Chapter 2. But hopefully you'll all be met with some good news soon. Again I apologize for the shortness but I hope you all enjoyed the chapter regardless….THANKS EVERYONE!
