Hi everyone! ^,^ *Phew* Looks like I managed to beat the month mark! (School has just begun…) First things first….I gotta give a bit of a warning…This chapter is….Um…A little less "tame" than it usually is… So I thought I should give you all a heads up…Chapter 42 COMMENCE!
Mario, Peach, Luigi and Daisy stared stunned as Yoshi aggressively stared Shy Away down. Never in their time of knowing him had they seen Yoshi so infuriated before. Birdo could only stare at her husband, feelings of shock but also fear plagued her.
"Whoa now Mr. Dino-Muscle, this battle is between ME and Birdo…" Shy Away laughed stopping mid-sentence putting his hands up, suddenly a malicious grin appeared on his face." ….Or was that SHELLY?" He laughed mockingly. Birdo winced in pain, while Shy Away was referring to her, she could still hear her daughter's name. Something in Yoshi seemed to snap, as Shy Away jumped in panic as the egg Yoshi had in his hand just moments ago just barely missed him and collided into the wall, leaving a huge hole in it. Everyone including Birdo and Shy Away stared at the wall shocked, they had never seen a Yoshi egg do that much damage to a solid surface before. Yoshi was breathing heavily, obviously angry that his egg had missed its target. Taking a step forward Yoshi put his hand in front of Birdo as if shielding her.
"ANY battle that involves MY wife….." He growled, still breathing heavily, his teeth clenched. "Involves ME!" He finished in a snarl. Shy Away hovered unsteadily, obviously startled by Yoshi's attempt at hitting him. For a few moments he didn't respond back, trying to regain his composure. A stare down between Yoshi and Shy Away commenced again, Yoshi obviously becoming impatient by Shy Away's lack of action, however unbeknownst to his friends Yoshi also felt a twinge of amusement as he watched Shy Away's nervous twitches. That amusement was suddenly stripped away, before he even had time to blink an excruciating pain was present in his left side.
"YOSHI!"
A loud cry rang out, Yoshi blinked bewildered, as his hand involuntarily touched the place where the pain had originated. He felt his body run cold, he lifted his hand to look at it, a red fluid-like substance covered it completely. Before Yoshi had time to process any further, he felt something grab him, despite the urgency the grip was surprisingly gentle, even warm.
"Heh heh heh, wiped that smug right off your pathetic face didn't I?"
Yoshi felt something squeeze him, followed by something bushing gently against his cheek. Looking up, Shy Away was triumphantly twirling his trident which had a very familiar substance on it.
"Didn't think a measly, simple Shy Away was any match for the likes of you? *Laugh* Well who's the one laughing now, you pathetic DONKEY!" Several outraged yells, erupted into the room, however none of them Yoshi could understand, the world seemed to be slowing down.
"Yo-Yoshi….." A familiar soothing voice whimpered into Yoshi's ear. He felt the brushing against his cheek again, however this time moisture accompanied it. "I-I'm so sorry…" The voice finished sniveling. Despite the obvious injury in his side, Yoshi felt as if all the pain had disappeared, as he listened to that soothing voice.
"D'Awww *laugh* Isn't that sickeningly sweet! *laugh* Face it Birdo he's down for the count!"
Yoshi felt the brush against his cheek again, the moisture still present, however immediately after he heard a hiss of anger.
"YOU'LL BE THE ONE DOWN FOR THE COUNT YOU DESPICABLE INSECT!"
Without warning Shy Away was slammed into the wall as an egg pelted him in the abdomen. Birdo still crouched on the ground, holding onto Yoshi, glared angrily as Shy Away struggled to recover from the blow.
"Who's down now?" Birdo hissed, rubbing her cheek against her husband's. To Birdo's relief, Yoshi returned the gesture, signaling that he was now responsive again. Shy Away let out a growl as he finally managed to recover, he pointed his trident aggressively at Birdo.
"Don't think that a simple egg can take me down Birdo!" He hissed, however a smirk slowly grew on his face. "How about I do a bit of doodling on that pretty little face of yours!" He snickered, waving his trident at her insanely. Birdo's eyes widened as she saw small droplets of her husband's blood trickle off the trident. To Birdo's surprise, a weak growl came from next to her and a shadow loomed near her.
"You won't bring that pitchfork ANYWHERE near her!" Birdo looked up shocked, Yoshi had managed to get to his feet and glared ferociously at Shy Away.
"Up are you?" Shy Away asked coolly.
"It'll take more than your shameful tactics to bring me down!" Yoshi hissed. Birdo looked up at Yoshi in astonishment, despite the fact that he had been savagely attacked, he still managed to get to his feet and was still ready to fight. Yoshi looked down at Birdo and held his hand out to her. Without hesitation Birdo took it, Yoshi helped her to her feet. "Now are you ready to fight?!" Yoshi asked Shy Away firmly, as he and Birdo stared him down. Shy Away smirked disgusted at the two, but pointed his trident at the both of them, as if not afraid.
"DON'T forget about US, you dishonorable coward!" Shy Away's smirk and confidence vanished as Mario, followed by Luigi, Peach and Daisy walked up and stood behind Yoshi and Birdo. All 4 of them glaring angrily at Shy Away's trident covered in their friend's blood. At first Shy Away seemed absolutely terrified, however after a few moments he looked the group over and a smirk grew on his face.
"You seriously didn't think I came here WITHOUT a backup plan did you?" Without warning the entire room became freezing, all 6 friends cried out as it suddenly felt as if they had been pelted with freezing ice.
"ABOUT time you peasants got your PUNISHMENT!"
Mario and Peach flinched, while Birdo let out a weak whimper completely petrified. Standing before them stood a tall woman wearing a white dress that almost covered her red shoes and what appeared to be a parrot on top of her head, however she wasn't alone a large toucan-like bird wearing a silver helmet stood next to her. The woman simply glanced at Mario and Peach, however her gaze fell onto Birdo. Birdo had to catch her breath as she stared into the eyes of the one who had decided her fate so many years ago.
"So Birdo….Long time no see…" The woman spoke calmly, although a hint of loathing was apparent in her voice. Birdo gulped, her body involuntarily trembled.
"Val…*gasp* Valentina…" Birdo whispered terrified, as the two newcomers stared her down loathingly.
"SO good to see you Deary!" Valentina whispered, her voice held venom. "Its been such a long time, hmm Dodo?" Valentina asked turning towards the large bird at her right side. Dodo simply nodded and glared even more furiously at Birdo. Shy Away unexpectedly came into sight.
"All together again! Just like old times Birdo!" He snickered, Birdo felt herself cringe. Suddenly there came a snort from behind Luigi.
"Reinforcements how typical!" Daisy laughed rolling her eyes. Valentina's gaze moved over to Luigi, Daisy and Yoshi.
"How interesting new faces…" She spoke, looking the 3 over one last time before looking back over to Birdo. "I gave you a very important job Birdo…." Birdo's eyes shrank with fear. "And yet you handed my key over to our enemies!" Valentina paused for a moment. "You didn't think you'd be let off THAT easily did you?" Birdo let out a deep exhale, Yoshi, despite the pain in his body, instantly placed himself between Birdo and Valentina. Birdo's eyes once again shrank with fear, however this time it wasn't fear for herself, but for her husband. Valentina studied Yoshi for a moment, before looking into his eyes. A smile spread across her face. "It seems you've had it good these past few years Birdo….." She spoke gently, she glanced at Birdo before looking at Yoshi again. "Those eyes….Such determination….Devotion…." A dark smirk appeared, Valentina's gaze returned to Birdo. "Too bad it all ends here!" Before any of the group could react, Dodo suddenly jumped in front of Valentina, opening his beak, a light mist suddenly engulfed everyone except Birdo.
"YOSHI!" Birdo cried out afraid, as her husband was engulfed in the mist.
"Oh don't worry Deary, we won't be inflicting this on you….." Valentina's eyes narrowed in amusement.
"We wanna be able to hear every single one of those cries of pain you make during our little battle!" Shy Away cackled nodding at Valentina and Dodo. "We want you to think about your little mistake of deciding to betray us and joining up with these simpletons!" Yoshi glared angrily and opened his mouth, however to his shock no words came out. Shy Away and Valentina laughed. "Its NO use Yoshi! Dodo's attack Flutter Hush has you in what's known as the Silence status!" Shy Away smirked. "Which means no more annoying blabbering from you OR the rest of your buddies!" Yoshi looked startled, he quickly turned to Mario and Peach, to his shock they both stared at the ground confirming Shy Away's words. Yoshi shut his eyes tightly before turning to Birdo, worry obviously shown in his eyes. "Now Birdo, are you ready for your punishment?" Shy Away asked, excitement in his voice. Birdo looked back towards her enemies, her body involuntarily took a step back, however to her shock she found herself unable to move any farther or closer. A laugh from Valentina caused Birdo to look ahead.
"You can't escape this Deary!" She smirked evilly. "You have to TAKE these attacks like the HOT SHOT you've strutted yourself out to be!" Valentina sneered. Yoshi's eyes hardened as he was obviously very angry with Valentina's words towards his wife, however the Silence status prevented him from saying a word. "Let us begin!" Valentina laughed.
"Aaaand seeing as how YOU had the last attack Birdo…." A evil sneer appeared on Shy Away's face. "It looks like its our turn!"
"Wh-what about Dodo's attack on my friends!" Birdo choked, quickly turning towards her incapacitated friends, her eyes watered upon staring at her husband. A smile appeared on Dodo's face and laughs from Shy Away and Valentina echoed in the room.
"THAT was an attack on simple bystanders…." Valentina giggled, shaking her head at Birdo. "They aren't apart of this fight, you however attacked a participant so… I'm sorry Deary….Your turn is officially over!"
"Speaking of which…..PREPARE to cringe in PAIN!" Shy Away suddenly charged at Birdo, his trident aimed right at her. Birdo's eyes shrank as she desperately tried to move out of the way, however it was no use. Yoshi's eyes widened, while Mario, Luigi, Peach and Daisy looked away in terror as Birdo let out a cry of pain, as Shy Away's trident cut into her left arm. Birdo's right hand intuitively grasped her injured arm, a small amount of blood drizzled down. "Payback HURTS doesn't it?" Shy Away snickered. Birdo didn't respond, she squeezed her eyes tightly shut, trying very hard not to give Shy Away the satisfaction of seeing her tears.
"And it ISN'T over yet!" Valentina's voice laughed. Birdo shivered, however she opened her eyes to face her opponents. "Consider THIS as punishment for handing my key over ever so kindly, DIAMOND SAW!" Items similar in appearance to shurikens appeared in Valentina's hand as if out of thin air. Without hesitation she threw them towards Birdo. Despite her fear Birdo continued to stare at her opponents however, as soon as the shurikens hit her, Birdo's body involuntarily flinched and her eyes instinctively squeezed themselves shut. The 3 opponents jeered at Birdo's misfortune, before finally the third came forward. Without a sound Dodo charged at Birdo his beak aimed for her abdomen. Mario and Peach watched in fear, they knew this attack well.
"Multistrike…"
Dodo mercilessly and rapidly pecked at Birdo. Her 5 friends could only watch helplessly as their companion valiantly took each hit, obviously growing weaker and weaker with every attack thrown at her. Birdo let out a breath of fatigue, as the disadvantage of three opponents throwing attacks at her, all at once began to take its inevitable toll on her already weakened body. Finally Dodo ceased with his attacks and went back to his position. Seeing Birdo's state, all 3 opponents once again laughed.
"Your turn Deary!" Valentina jeered. "Which of us will you go for?" She asked, Shy Away snickered.
"You only get ONE shot at this, so MAKE it count!" He cackled buzzing around the 2 other opponents before settling in his position. Birdo didn't respond for a moment, exhaustion and the pain in her body plagued her mind. Glancing over at each of her opponents she decided on who she would make her move on, the one who had ordered her upbringing as a tool. Birdo took a deep breath readying her attack, however with that breath, went the last bit of her strength. Her 5 friends watched in terror as Birdo suddenly collapsed to her knees unable to stand. Yoshi despite his Silent Status attempted to cry out for his wife, but it was in vain, as nothing came out. Completely helpless Yoshi reluctantly looked away from his wife and turned towards her opponents, nothing but hate flared in his eyes. "Oh my….Not even our SECOND turn and you're already down? *laugh* All that lounging you did since betraying us has made you weak!" Birdo let out a gasp of exhaustion as her uninjured hand came to the ground, struggling to keep her from collapsing to the ground completely. "Face it Bir-traitor, you're BEAT!" Shy Away and Valentina laughed, while Dodo sneered at Birdo. Yoshi stared at his wife, it was obvious that she was using every last bit of her strength not to fall over. Seeing his wife in such a state and hearing the merciless laughing, caused Yoshi to squeeze his eyes shut in anger, if he could yell at her enemies he most certainly would have.
"…I WON'T let them do this to my WIFE!"
To the shock of not only his friends, but his enemies as well, Yoshi with every ounce of determination in his body managed to break free from his immobility and threw a single yellow mushroom towards Birdo, before becoming immobile again.
"I know you can't hear me Birdo…I'm sorry that this is the only way I can help you….."
Upon being hit by the mushroom Birdo's body glowed for a brief moment, to her amazement the gash in her arm magically healed, not only that but almost instantly she felt all her strength return. She quickly turned towards Yoshi, he smiled lovingly at her, Birdo returned the gesture. An angry hiss caused Birdo to quickly turn around.
"A Max Mushroom…" Shy Away growled angrily, turning towards Valentina. "How you managed to break free of our magic….Its unbelievable…" Shy Away mumbled irritably. Yoshi gave Shy Away a smug glare, Mario and the others gave a similar gesture. Valentina suddenly let out an angry shriek.
"You want to throw mushrooms? What don't you BE A MUSHROOM!" Valentina glared loathingly at Yoshi before raising both her hands. "Petal Blast!" A vast number of petals formed in Valentina's hands, before Birdo could respond Valentina shot the attack towards Yoshi and the others.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" Birdo cried out, as the attack swirled around each of her friends.
"I think that'll do…." Valentina spoke calmly, although her voice held a smug tone. Suddenly the petals vanished, Birdo covered her face completely petrified. Where her friends had originally stood, mushrooms now took their place, each their own individual color. Despite her desperate desire not to believe it, the hard reality struck Birdo like a sledge hammer.
"Yoshi…..N-no…."
Birdo was completely crushed, speechless. Now, not only had she lost her daughter…..These fiends had taken her friends….Her husband….They had taken the last of the two people she cared the most deeply for. She felt both her hands hit the floor as she collapsed on her hands and knees. Birdo felt tears sting in her eyes, her eyes wide with devastation.
"Those peasants will no longer be a nuisance…." Valentina spoke, her voice holding a mocking tone.
"Thank the STARS! That arrogant Donkey was getting on my nerves!" Shy Away laughed. Birdo felt tears run down her face, however these were not tears of sadness….No, these tears were of something much greater. All 3 opponents let out gasps of pain as all 3 of them were pelted with eggs.
"Impossible!" Valentina snarled, as she quickly recovered from her shock. Shy Away and Dodo also recovered and looked in the same direction. Birdo stood before them, her eyes burned with not hatred, but passion and determination. "How were you able to attack all three of us?!" Valentina hissed. Birdo's eyes narrowed.
"My friends….." Birdo's eyes saddened a bit. "My husband have taught me many things throughout the years….." Her face still held a bit of sadness. "I've been a Teammate…..A Wife….A Mother, all of these have made me a better person…" Birdo's eyes narrowed again. "A far BETTER person than I could have EVER been had I worked for the sorry likes of YOU!" Shy Away, Valentina and Dodo glared angrily, yet a hint of fear and shock gleamed in their eyes. "I started this journey…..To FIND my daughter…." Birdo's eyes watered slightly. "And I intend on finding her…" All 3 opponents seemed nervous. "I also intend on DEFEATING all three of you, in honor of my Friends….." Birdo stopped for a moment, her eyes watered as a warm feeling filled her heart. "AND my Wonderful Husband!" None of the opponents uttered a word. "So what are you waiting for?" Birdo asked firmly. "Your turn!"
"You arrogant little…" Shy Away hissed, readying his trident. Without hesitation he made his attack on Birdo, however to his shock Birdo didn't flinch nor did she make any movement to suggest that she had felt any pain from his attack. Clenching his teeth in anger, Shy Away was forced to go back to his position. Valentina approached Birdo next, irritation obviously in her eyes, Valentina lifted her hand. Birdo didn't even blink as Valentina's hand ferociously collided across her right cheek. Valentina also clenched her teeth in anger, despite the obvious red imprint etched into Birdo's cheek. Valentina returned to her position fuming. Finally Dodo approached Birdo, however unlike the last turn, no fear was apparent in Birdo's eyes. Even as Dodo raised his beak to begin his barrage of attacks, Birdo stared him down, no change in her eyes. Hit after hit Birdo's face remained the same, this only encouraged Dodo to peck even harder each attack, but to his frustration it was all in vain. As the last of the 3 returned to his position, all 3 of them glared at Birdo enraged.
"How do you just sit there!" Valentina hissed, pointing her finger at Birdo.
"You should be DOWN on your knees!" Shy Away shouted. "Trembling at our MERCY!" He screeched, waving his trident again. Birdo merely glared defiantly at him. Within a blink of an eye Shy Away flew right in front of Birdo's face. "You SHOULD be BROKEN!" He bellowed, positioning his trident right below her neck, her and her husband's blood still covered it.
"I'm not afraid of you…" Birdo whispered, her heart began to beat rapidly. Shy Away's eyes widened slightly.
"What was that!" Valentina snarled.
"I'M NOT AFRAID OF YOU!"
Birdo's voice echoed in the room, for a while the room was silent. Birdo was breathing heavily now, it felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted off of her.
"I'm NOT afraid of you anymore…." Birdo whispered, tears beginning to fill her eyes, however these were not tears of fear. "You can't control me anymore…." She laughed. "I've spent my whole life…Fearing the day when you all would find me….I've spent my entire life, hiding my past from my husband and daughter…." Birdo paused for a moment, she closed her eyes allowing the tears to run down her face. "But no more…" She whispered laughing, shaking her head. Opening her eyes Birdo faced her 3 opponents. "I'm free from your custody and now its time for me to face you three ONCE AND FOR ALL!"
"THIS IS FOR YOU! YOSHI! SHELLY!
Birdo made her attack on all 3 of her opponents. Just as her attacks slammed into them, Birdo was forced to shield her eyes as a bright light engulfed the entire room. The yells of her 3 enemies echoed, Birdo however, was unable to uncover her eyes to see what was going on, as the light was too bright. Finally the yelling ceased and slowly the light began to fade. Birdo slowly uncovered her eyes expecting to see Shy Away, Valentina and Dodo readying their next attacks, however to her shock they were nowhere to be seen. Just feet in front of her lay the fragments of her egg, although that wasn't what Birdo was staring in complete wonder at.
"Just ONE more Yoshi…Shelly…"
Gleaming brightly inside the largest hollowed fragment of her egg was the 5th Star. Despite her eagerness to reach out for her long awaited prize, Birdo was hesitant, she had a strange feeling that something was coming, yet she couldn't tell if it was bad or good. Glancing behind her, Birdo was saddened to see that Yoshi and the others were still mushrooms, certainly if this had been another illusion, her husband and their friends would have been standing there. Back at the Mansion where Luigi had swore that he had seen all of the group turned to portraits, yet Birdo and the others had been present for the whole battle, proving that King Boo turning them into portraits was nothing but an illusion. It didn't make sense. Forcing herself to look away from her friends, Birdo made her decision. Reaching out Birdo felt a surge of power flow into her, however almost immediately Birdo was startled as a bright light appeared from behind her. Yoshi, Peach, Luigi and Daisy's mushrooms were glowing brightly. Mario's however remained dormant. Birdo stared in awe, as suddenly Yoshi's mushroom let off an even brighter glow causing Birdo's heart to glow as well. Both Yoshi's and Birdo's light combined and engulfed Mario's mushroom, causing all 5 mushrooms to glow even brighter. Birdo let out a whimpered gasp as the mushrooms took form. Yoshi was caught off guard and was almost knocked to the ground, as Birdo grabbed a hold of him, squeezing him as hard as she possibly could. "I love you Yoshi!" Birdo gasped through tears as she rubbed her cheek against his. Yoshi blinked completely in shock, the last thing he remembered was being engulfed by Valentina's attack, after that everything was blank.
"How were you able to change us back Birdo?" Mario's voice suddenly gasped, as surprised exclamations from the rest of the group echoed in the room. Birdo glanced over towards her friends, but kept holding onto Yoshi.
"I don't quite understand it myself….." She whispered. "But I think the power of everyone's Stars changed you all back…." Birdo finished, rubbing her cheek against Yoshi's again.
"Stars?" Came Yoshi's voice finally, he quickly looked down at Birdo. "Does that mean…..?" He asked, his voice weak yet a hint of excitement was present. Birdo's eyes began to tear up.
"Yes Dear, just ONE more!" She laughed, pressing her head against her husband's chest. Yoshi let out a gasp, Birdo suddenly put her face into his chest. "One more till we find our baby…." Birdo cried in happiness into Yoshi's chest. Yoshi was lost of words, he simply pressed his face up against his wife's. Mario and the others smiled, happy to see that Birdo had managed to overcome her fears and triumph over them. As Birdo continued to hug Yoshi, panic suddenly plagued her mind, her hand suddenly moved to Yoshi's left side. Birdo felt but didn't believe, quickly glancing over, she was shocked to see that her husband's side was no longer bleeding, in fact it was as if the wound had never existed. "Yo-Yoshi…Your side…" Birdo whispered her voice weak from astonishment. Confused Yoshi glanced over and was too bewildered by what he saw.
"I-Its gone…." He gasped, Mario and the others looked over as well.
"Now that you mention it….You look as if you had never fought in the first place…" Luigi's voice came from behind them.
"No…We ALL look like we never fought in the first place!" Daisy gasped, pointing at each of the group members.
"Of COURSE!"
The entire group jumped as Mario's voice startled them.
"Petal Blast!" Mario gasped. Peach also gave a gasp and grabbed Mario's arm. "While Petal Blast turns the targets into mushrooms…."
"It also gradually heals the targets as well!" Peach finished, receiving amazed looks from the remaining 4.
"S-so…Valentina ended up helping us out…?" Yoshi asked begrudgingly.
"Unintentionally yes…" Mario answered nodding. "I honestly don't think she realized that Petal Blast heals considering she never used it on us before….And most likely the opponents she did use it on, she never saw again, to see them return to normal…." Mario finished, Peach nodded in response.
"I'm just glad you're safe Yoshi…" Birdo whispered hugging Yoshi again. The dissatisfied look from hearing that Valentina had been the cause of their healing left Yoshi's face and turned to a warm smile as he hugged Birdo back.
"I'm glad you are too Dear…" He whispered to her. As she and Yoshi embraced each other Birdo opened her eyes and was flabbergasted by what she saw. Looking over Yoshi's shoulder a familiar yet, unknown sight was visible on the wall.
"Yo-Yoshi….." Birdo whispered, her voice shaking a bit. At first Yoshi simply looked at Birdo, but when he noticed that she was facing behind them, Yoshi turned his head. He had to catch his breath before his mouth hung open at the sight.
"Ma-Mario…." Yoshi stuttered, fear was apparent in his voice. Mario and the rest of the group turned to acknowledge Yoshi. Neither Yoshi nor Birdo spoke, however Yoshi took one hand and pointed at the wall. As if on cue gasps from the remaining 4 sounded. Without a word Mario approached the wall, finally he stopped at it. A large draping covered the wall, Mario's eyes hardened as the picture of a all too familiar Castle was imprinted on it, a Castle with flames coming out of it and lightning, with a star hovering over it. Yoshi and Birdo held onto each other frightened, while Luigi, Daisy and Peach stared at the draping, fear apparent in their eyes as well. Mario let out a deep sigh.
"Bowser's Castle…." He spoke firmly touching the fabric, to the shock of the entire group, upon touching the fabric the entire room was once again engulfed in a bright light. Within seconds however the bright white light disappeared to reveal a bright blue sky and cheerful gossiping. Blinking confused the group looked around to find that they were now standing outside of the Nimbus Castle. Even more confusing, citizens of Nimbus Land were wandering around in large numbers. To confirm their suspicions Mario quickly looked at the gates.
"King and Queen Nimbus…" Mario spoke relief in his voice. Turning the group looked ahead to see two statues in front of the gates.
"The Castle is back to the way it used to be before Valentina took over…." Peach laughed, holding her face in joy. Birdo simply smiled as she hugged her husband, ready with her friends to make their way to their next destination, which would bring her one final step closer to finally finding her daughter.
Yep….Got a little more violent that usual…Blood…Never thought I'd include that in one of my stories… *Heck any of my works (Writing/pics)* I apologize if anyone was taken aback by that addition.
Birdo really got hit hard here… ^^; Both Physically and Mentally, having to face her greatest fears from her past, forced to take devastating hits (while being unable to do anything), even forced to watch her friends and husband get turned into Mushrooms (I did my research and it appears that the Max Mushroom is exclusive to Super Mario RPG). However Birdo managed to triumph over not only her enemies and fears…But also her past as well ^.^ I apologize if the ending of the battle didn't seem very interesting, but originally I had wanted Shy Away to be Birdo's only opponent (hence why he was the most ruthless towards Birdo), but decided to add Valentina and Dodo. Also as a side note for those who don't know shurikens are "Throwing Stars" I myself had to look up their official name so I thought I should mention that for those who may not know.
Some of you may have noticed that this chapter was a bit longer than most you've probably read….I can officially say that this is indeed my LONGEST chapter ^.^ (Almost 5,000 words NOT counting my author notes! :D) A LOT of research went into this chapter, hence why it took so long to finish (excluding the writing time+school) You may have also noticed that I included the entire battle into one chapter (I believe this chapter could have been cut into two), thus brings a question I'd like to ask all of you….Would you all prefer that I make Boss battles into 1 chapter? Or would you prefer that I go back to my original writing "style" and cut them into several chapters? Granted if you all prefer the Boss battle all in 1 chapter it WILL take me longer to post the next update…However you'll be getting a longer chapter…On the other hand if you all prefer the Boss battle into several chapters you'll be getting more frequent updates….Albeit they'll be much shorter… So I want to see what you all think… Longer Chapters (Boss battle all in 1 chapter), LONGER wait for updates…OR Shorter Chapters (Boss battle into several chapters) Shorter waiting times?
I'm also curious...Why do you think it took TWO Stars (Yoshi+Birdo's) to return Mario to normal when it ONLY took One to return the others to normal? :D G'luck with the guessing everyone! XD
