Hey everyone! :D Its been a while but I'm back! First off I want to give you all a bit of a warning…This chapter gets a bit dark in some parts…Granted it isn't too bad, but this story for the most part has been pretty tame, save a few instances…So I feel I should give you all a heads up. With that said ON with the Chapter!
For a brief moment half of my attention was focused on Father's hushed growl. I didn't know why but I felt as if what he was saying had some connection to the object. Father stood idle for a few moments after his words, his shoulders began to move up and down as his breathing slowly began to speed up and sounded heavy. Without warning he suddenly turned towards Kamek, his face held such fury that I had never in all my life seen before.
"Kamek…." He snarled, such hatred in his voice that my attention was finally averted from the object. Kamek immediately gave his attention to Father, a sadistic smile crept onto his face.
"Oh Yes Yoshi….I knew of your Spawn's secret…."
With that comment I saw Father's eyes shrink in fear. I however was confused….Secret? What Secret?! For a moment Kamek's eyes moved towards Mother before falling back onto Father.
"Yes….You and Birdo produced a Star Child…"
Gasps of shock erupted into the room. Mother and Father stared at each other, they both glanced at me. Father suddenly shook his head desperately.
"N-no…That's not possible!"
Father shouted, his voice obviously terrified.
"I-isn't there only suppose to be 7?" Mother stuttered glancing at Father. I stared at my parents completely lost. Kamek cackled in response to my parents' reactions.
"Yes, there are the original 7 Star Children…." Kamek started, his attention moved to King Mario, Queen Peach, King Luigi, before finally settling his attention on Father. Slowly a smirk spread across his face. "However…Despite the extremely low odds…It is possible for Star Children to pass this gift onto their offspring…" Everything was silent for a moment. "Yes Birdo may not be a Star Child and it may have been a one in a million chance but you're still a Star Child Yoshi…..Despite the odds your Spawn inherited your gift!" Kamek turned towards the 4 Royals. "Mario and Peach's odds of producing a Star Child were more probable, due to them both being Star Children themselves…" Kamek glanced over at Ilario and Angela for a moment, both of them looked just as confused as I was. "However, I will admit, it's quite extraordinary that they managed to pass this gift onto both children…" Kamek paused for a moment again before his gaze fell onto Azalea. "And then of course there's Luigi and Daisy….The odds may have been just as against them as You and Birdo but it seems they beat the odds as well…" Silence ensued for several minutes, tension was obviously filling in the room. I finally decided to ask the question that was plaguing my mind.
"What is a Star Child Mom?" I asked in a whisper, my voice slightly weak to avoid attracting Kamek and Bowser's attention. I felt Mother pull me closer to her, she glanced down at me, however she didn't give me an answer. I stared at her for a moment before turning to look at Father, he was already staring at me. His expression showed both fear and even looked a little apologetic. I stared pleadingly at him, however to my disappointment he turned away from me, giving his attention back to Kamek.
"S-so you kidnapped, starved and traumatized my daughter because of that?!" Father asked, aggression obvious in his tone, I felt Mother's grip on me grow tighter. Both Kamek and Bowser laughed in response.
"Oh Yoshi, you are so simple-minded!" Bowser chuckled, before turning to Kamek. "Mind filling our obtuse simpleton in?!"
"My pleasure your Gnarliness!" Kamek laughed, turning towards Father. "You see Yoshi, you may not remember….Well of course you wouldn't, you didn't quite exist yet!" Kamek chuckled. "But your father may have told you….Seeing as he was the one who decided to meddle, along with the rest of his menacing brethren!" I saw Father's eyes harden in anger. I however found myself slightly intrigued, my grandfather fought against Bowser and Kamek also?! How was that possible? My parents may have avoided telling me much about Bowser when I was younger, but it was obvious that Bowser couldn't be much older than Father…Kamek I wasn't so sure of…But still how or why did my grandfather fight someone who was most likely a child or even an infant at the time?! Before I could ponder my curiosity further Kamek's voice drove me from my thoughts. "Years ago King Bowser and I sent Toadies out to kidnap all the children in the past….Hoping to find the 7 Star Children!" I involuntarily let out a deep exhale, children of the past?! Kamek and Bowser somehow Time Traveled into the past?! Despite my shock I kept quiet as Kamek continued. "At the time we had no idea who these 7 special children were, so we had no choice but to examine them all….." A dark glare appeared in Kamek's eyes. "But then those blasted Storks got in the way, somehow allowing 4 of the 7 Star Children to elude us…" Kamek paused for a moment before continuing. "These 4 children being Mario, Peach, Donkey Kong and Wario…." I literally caught my breath, WARIO?! That unsportsmanlike, greedy, creep who hit Dash in the face with a tennis ball, was a Star Child?! I may not have known exactly what a Star Child was, but I didn't expect Wario's name to pop up alongside people such as King Mario and Queen Peach…Donkey Kong didn't come quite as a shock to me. I didn't know him extremely well, but I did meet him a few times along with his nephew Diddy. When Father and Mother would play sports….And he was a pretty great guy. "However, at the time we didn't realize that had 2 Star Children hiding within the castle…" There was a long silence before Kamek spoke again. "As you may know Yoshi….Star Children possess an extremely large amount of power, King Bowser and I hoped to use this power to take control of the world…" The hatred returned to Kamek's eyes. "But of course your meddling father interfered and our plan failed…" I heard a growl escape Father's throat as Kamek finished his sentence. "However, one good thing came from our efforts…." Kamek's eyes looked around the room, particularly at the Royals. "We were able to identify 6 of the 7 Star Children….Mario, Luigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Wario and of course King Bowser himself…" My legs nearly gave out as I heard Bowser's name spoken, Wario was baffling enough but BOWSER?! Mother despite her attention being on Kamek and Bowser seemed to have noticed my unstable balance because she immediately straightened herself and in doing so helped me up as well. I gulped, I couldn't understand why, but hearing this news made my insides squirm. "It took me a while to finally figure out the identity of the final Star Child….How humorous it was when I finally found that the final Star Child we were searching for all that time turned out to be the hatchling of the fool who had thwarted us…" Father and Kamek were staring each other down now, the hatred in their eyes equal. Like two bitter rivals on a battlefield. "Of course you got lucky Yoshi…" Kamek whispered. "You were still safe within your egg during our kidnappings….Lucky for your father, that he managed to defeat us just in time to return home to see his son hatch." Kamek chuckled mockingly. Father clenched his teeth angrily at Kamek's mocking tone. The longest silence yet plagued the room before a chuckle from Bowser broke the silence.
"So what does this have to do with now?" Bowser smirked at me, before turning and glancing at Ilario, Angela and Azalea. Kamek smiled at my friends before giving his attention back to my parents.
"We may have failed at the 1st generation…." A smirk appeared on both Kamek and Bowser's faces. "But not this time!" Instantly I felt Mother tighten her grip and Father backed away, placing himself in front of both Mother and I. I felt my body flinch as Kamek's gaze fell onto me, I couldn't help but cringe next to Mother. "You're probably aware by now, but we stole this device from Star Temple." Kamek turned his head towards the device. "A miraculous device that can steal ones Essence of being…" Kamek turned his attention back towards us. "It took a bit of researching to figure out what the description meant by Essence of being…I won't go into the specifics seeing as you couldn't even figure out WHY we're even standing here in the first place…But lets just say it has the ability to steal a certain power from the body of a select chosen few!" Nothing was said, however I saw Father clench his fists. "However….The device cannot do this feat without some assistance…." Kamek's gaze once again fell onto me, I felt my body shiver. "In order to for the device to work the vessel that holds the power must be weak!" I saw Father's body begin to tremble, I couldn't tell if it was from anger or fear. A childish grin spread across Kamek's face. "SOooo after a week or so of limited meals and of course the occasional punishment, the vessel was finally ready for the extraction!" Kamek immediately turned towards the capsule, I felt my heart begin to race again. "And of course the extraction was a success! Thus the Whelp served her purpose and was no longer of use to us." I winced slightly as the rapid racing of my heart caused my chest to ache slightly. Finally I heard a whimpered groan come from Father. "So you see Yoshi….We did have a reason for kidnapping and limiting your Whelp's meals…" Suddenly a sadistic smile spread across Kamek's face. "Of course those punishments were simply for my own amusement!" Kamek stared directly into Father's eyes. "You have no idea how much happiness humiliating your Spawn gave me! How satisfying it was to see her cower in fear at the sight of me! It was the PERFECT revenge for ALL the MISERY you caused me all these years!" I suddenly saw Father hang his head, his entire body was trembling now. I even felt Mother's body trembling, both she and Father breathing heavily. Kamek suddenly let out a chuckle. "I'm not going to lie, I was quite looking forward to seeing her die in that cell!" With those words Father's body suddenly stopped trembling, his heavy breathing also stopped.
"Kamek…..You..Y-you…." My eyes suddenly widened as a light green light began to illuminate off Father's body, it looked almost exactly like light that had engulfed his hands when he had removed my shackle. Father suddenly looked up, his eyes locking with Kamek's. I felt myself involuntarily try to take a step back as Father's gentle, innocent eyes were no longer there, instead dangerous, vengeful eyes had taken their place. "You TORMENTED MY Little Girl!" Father suddenly snarled dangerously. The light illuminating off Father suddenly grew larger. "You want your revenge?" Father whispered through clenched teeth.
"WELL COME AND GET IT!"
*Nervous laugh* Heh "Papa" Yoshi is NOT happy….O.O So looks like we're seeing a sadistic side of Kamek….Years of being defeated by Yoshi (and the others in some adventures) plus 20 years of being forced to bide his time…Kamek really had a lot of time for his hatred of Yoshi to boil over…And unfortunately Shelly had that hatred and revenge taken out on her… :(
Yoshi looks ready to go out for blood at this point…Two bitter rivals ready for the ultimate showdown…Who will come out on top?
Well most of you probably already had this figured out a LONG time ago…But yep Shelly (along with Ilario, Angela and Azalea) is a Star Child, passed down from Yoshi. And just to clear things up about Yoshi and Birdo's reactions to the news…Yoshi isn't upset about Shelly being a Star Child…Being a Star Child is a great honor…But as we all know from Yoshi's Island DS…Being a Star Child doesn't come without its dangers…It is likely that Shelly (and the Royals) will constantly be targets of evil for the rest of their lives, villains such as Kamek and Bowser will undoubtedly be after their "Power" constantly. So Yoshi (and Birdo) aren't upset with Shelly's importance to the world, rather just scared of dangers that come with it (and dumbfounded that there are now more than 7 Star Children now XD )
I apologize for the lack of dialogue from Mario and the others, this chapter was mainly for Shelly, Yoshi and Birdo…Seeing as Shelly was abducted first and how this entire adventure was set in motion because of her kidnapping…
This chapter also reveals an opinion of mine, that many of you may disagree with me on…Yes I do not believe that the Yoshi protagonist in the original Yoshi's Island games is "The Yoshi". This opinion is somewhat recent, but I came to this opinion after watching a walkthrough of Yoshi's Island DS, during the plot (in the beginning) Kamek says that the Stars are hidden within the hearts of 7 babies (This implying that ALL the 7 Star Children are relatively the same age) this would eliminate the main Yoshi protagonist as he is clearly an adult thus unlikely "The Yoshi"… Another clue that contributed to my current opinion is the ending of the game…A baby Yoshi is shown hatching at the end of the game (being shown as the 7th Star Child)…Yes some people argue that Nintendo just wanted to put this reveal at the end to keep players guessing until the end of the game…But I believe that tidbit/hint at the beginning of the game "hidden within the hearts of 7 babies" offsets that argument…Again this is just my opinion and I don't expect any of you to agree with me :) But that bit of information is what got me to bring Yoshi's father into the mix, having HIM be the one who foiled Kamek (and Bowser's) plans back during the events of Yoshi's Island rather than Yoshi.
