Devastation Part 2
Still alive guys. Things have been slow, because I've picked up something that may just end up becoming my new job. So I've been editing a lot! However, I plan to finish this AND Dragons To Behold 2. AND get out my last two stories.
Speaking of Devastation, that new map pack for COD Ghosts is out. Ugh, have to wait a month for it.
Story now.
I was still half asleep when my mother and father got me and my brother up and brought us outside. Through tired eyes, I saw not the sun shining in the sky, the skies painted a blue teal color in the sky. But a calm, yet cloudy sky. I knew it that today was the last day I'd see my parents. The last day any of us would. Sadness and anger flowed through me, despite my drowsiness.
We still didn't understand why our parents would fight them. As much as I or any of us young ones hate to say or even think it, they were outmatched. The Dark Guardians would effortlessly defeat them, and then the world would be theirs.
They don't stand much of a chance, and we future guardians less of one.
So what's the point? I thought, it's not like the Dark Ones have given us a due date. We could still have more time.
My thoughts were stopped as I began to doze off again, my body fighting to stay active and awake.
Outside the temple, there were two dragons waiting for us. They were adult age, the same size as the Guardians.
I realized that they would take us to our apparent new home. They were both big enough that they could carry us safely over a long distance. Seeing them reminded me yet again of the situation, and I tried to protest, but had too little energy to do so. I lowered my head again, and allowed myself to be put on one of the dragons' backs, the same happening to the others.
"Karaia, Eozak, take them to the city. Watch over them until they're mature enough to be Guardians," Apollonir said.
"We will," the dragon whose back I was on replied," But please tell us, what you plan to d-"
"Go," Gravel said, resting Terrador on the other dragon, "Now."
The dragoness nodded. She had shiny, orange scales and yellow eyes that said she was friendly and playful, despite her age. She had two horns that bent forward slightly, ready to kill if needed. She stretched out her long, full wings, blocking my view of the other dragon, the one that had Terrador, Cyril and Volteer. I didn't see much of him, but he had cloud gray scales, with 4 large straight horns poking out of his head. He remained silent, his green eyes watching the Guardians, waiting for any more orders.
My father and mother stood over my brother and I. My mother, trying her hardest not to cry, kissed me on my forehead, just barely tapping me puny horns. She did the same to my brother then stepped back, and my father, the one who'd always been there, said his final words to may or may not have known that I was awake, but that didn't seem to matter to him.
"My sons," he says, "There may be nothing that could ever make me more proud than having been your father. Our time together was too short, and it was taken up mostly by preparing for… them," he says, looking to the intense storm clouds.
He looked back to us, "I know that both of you will do amazing things in your lives. I don't think neither I nor your mother will see them in person. I promise you this, however, Ignitus and Splitfire. We will see each other again. I do not know how, or when, but I will see what my sons will become in the future."
I listened hard, my breathing becoming heavy. I moved a little trying to say something, but my drowsiness from being up so early was still there.
"I'm sorry," he finally says, "If things were different, I would have never made this choice."
He lowered his head, tears falling from his eyes. He kept his composure however, and gave the command to let us go.
Karaia and Eozak nodded, allowing time for the other Guardians to say their own goodbyes. Then the two dragons got ready for flight, and launched themselves into the air.
In a few short seconds, my lifelong home, everything I knew, was gone.
By then, I couldn't sleep. Somehow, the whole thing woke me up as if I were punched to the face.
I wept softly, letting it all out. No one heard me, with the wind blowing in our ears.
It was an hour, two hours, or a day had passed. Time seemed to slow as I'd cried to myself, losing everything and being forced to start anew.
I didn't know what time of day it was when we finally saw the giant buildings of the city from some miles away.
Karaia had looked behind her to see I'd stopped crying, but now had a long, sorrowful look on my face.
"Are you… feeling better?" She tried, her voice liquid with sympathy.
Slowly I turned my head to meet her gentle, caring eyes. Her face had shown concern on it, as I she'd already cared for me like family.
"Better," I said, "Not good, not great, but better," I said.
"That's good to hear," Karaia said, "I should explain how things are going to work from now on."
My brother stirred up. He knew what had happened, because some time ago, he was feeling the same way I was. He glanced at me, then at the dragoness. He said nothing however, having a grim look on his face.
"You will stay in a large home. It isn't a mansion nor a temple, but it is surely large enough to accommodate all of us. Each of you will have your own room and your own possessions. I do not have to say the rules behind someone else's stuff, since I know you were taught well when you lived with family," she said.
We nodded, allowing her to go on.
"You aren't to attend schooling for some time, so you will remain there in the building. You may go outside and play, as long as you are back in before sunset. We will show you around the city, and as you get older and more used to it, you will be allowed to do more and more."
We nodded again, more or less taking in the information. There was so much too, and by the time she was finishing, we were arriving at the city gate.
All the while she said the most interesting part about being here, and that was that we were to train. Four days a week, five hours a day.
By now, everyone was awake, and listening to what needed to be said about the training part. She said we'd face multiple dummies, learn how to use our furies, and other combat techniques.
She finished and the guards allowed us into the city.
The first thing I noticed was the size of the city. The whole space we were in was filled with life. Shops, apartments, food stands, everything. There were crowds of people walking in different directions. Except they weren't exactly people, more like dragons, moles, cheetahs, and wolves.
The buildings around us were mini cities of their own, and they were all full of life. People who lived in the inns and hotels had their own decorations and possessions outside. Flowers and vines were everywhere, showing off the positive mood of the city, as if there weren't
We walked in awe for half an hour, watching the people around us. I myself took in what would become my new life. I thought of growing up with the city lights (not electric) illuminating the night skies. Or waking up to the sounds of other dragons outside. The friends, and enemies, I'd make.
Still, it would all be done without my parents. The same for my brother, Volteer, Terrador, and Cyril. Yet, I remembered that I'd see them again. One last time.
It rung in my head like a loud bell. One last time. One last time.
We finally stopped at our new home. It was impressive, even so compared to our temple. It was maybe half the size of our temple, made with a brownish gray marble color. The front doors were also marble but were a more grayish color to the overall house. Its front had nice green grass and flowers blooming, ranging from pink to white to red.
There wasn't too much else about the house past that.
Still, our mouths hung wide open at it and the city around.
Karaia laughed, "It seems that you like this place. Well, I thinks it's time we go in, settle down, and help you get used to this place eh?"
We nodded our heads in unison, like zombies almost.
"Well," she says, "let's go in."
Yeah, I know the endings a little odd, but I wanted this chapter out. As you can see, I've been working on getting more detail into my story. Tell what you like or loathed in the reviews!
