New Chapter! After a long period of time, I finally got a new chapter up here. I found my original story outline, and didn't like it SO, I'm trying to remake the storyline at this point. I have a few ideas but I prefer to iron out the ideas first.

Thanks for those who stuck around this long. I will try to update regularly since I finally have some free time in my life :D

So hopefully, you like the chapter. I did revise the previous chapters. I didn't change anything major though. I don't have a beta SO sorry for the grammar mistakes.

Chris drove back into town trying his hardest to get home as soon as possible. Today was all out of sorts. He slowed down at a red light and came to a complete stop. He looked over at Piers who was trying to hide in his black hoodie right now. After being on the road for some time, Chris made Piers change seats with him. He didn't think that Piers was ready to drive at the moment. He pulled off once the light turned green. All of a sudden a truck collided into their car in the intersection making them flip over twice, landing on the roof of the car with a loud crash. Piers who was occupied with his thoughts in his head prior felt dizzy and was utterly confused for a moment when his instincts automatically kicked in. He looked over seeing Chris slowly trying to get his bearings together. He pushed the buckle on his seatbelt making him land on the roof of the car harshly.

He shouldn't have done that.

He twisted slightly in order to crawl out of the car. At this point, he could see Chris trying to get out of the car himself. He slowly got to his feet as his head started to process what happened. Before he could determine anything, he heard gunshots coming towards him. He ducked and ran to the other side to help Chris. Chris was able to get out himself and immediately took cover behind the car along with Piers.

Chris sighed, 'We can't get rid of them?'

Piers reached in the car and pulled out his backpack. 'I assume you don't have a gun?' He reached into his bag and pulled out his pistol. He checked the magazine. 'I only have three shots left in this clip.'

Chris shook his head no. 'Considering I only came out here to retrieve my wallet, I didn't think I needed one.' He looked over the car to try to see how many were after them.

'I guess we have no choice but to run.' Piers would rather save his ammo than waste it on these guys.

They saw people screaming and running in every direction because of the commotion. One particular person caught Chris eye. A male was shot in the leg and he slowly stumbled to the ground.

Chris tap Piers' arm to indicate the point of direction he was going. Piers took a mental note as the both of them got up to run over to the male.

Piers turned around to aim his gun to whoever was attacking them and realized that the people weren't necessarily shooting at them. But instead it seemed like they were aiming at everyone in general. He watched as someone else who was shot in the arm start to scream as he watched their arm start to mutate from the bullet wound. Blue liquid ran through their veins as the mutation slowly took over their body.

Piers dropped his gun to the side as images from the facility run through his mind finally realizing what was going on here. Time seem to stop as he was reminded of the horrors he wanted to forgot.

~He sat back in the chair as he felt weak from the amount of samples they drew from his blood. He looked over as he watched a blonde female in a lab coat talked to him. He couldn't comprehend what she was saying. She smiled down at him as she wiped the sweat from his forehead. He watched her place a sample into a gun as she walked over to an individual dressed up in a hazard body suit. The individual took the gun and walked into a testing facility. He could make out a person in civilian clothing in the testing facility. The individual tried running away but the masked individual held up the gun and shot it. The other fell to their knees holding onto the wound in their arm. Blue ran throughout their veins and he could see the flesh turn dark around it as it started to mutated. It was slow but the individual cried out in pain as the mutation slowly took over his body.~

The firm grip on his arm brought him back to life as Chris pulled him away from the scene. Chris didn't ask him anything, he kept feeling himself getting dragged away. Eventually his mind was brought back down to earth and he started to pick his feet up. Chris looked around and pulled Piers into an alleyway that seemed safe at the moment.

Chris cursed out loud trying to figure the situation out for himself. He couldn't catch a break with the male. 'Hey, you okay?' He lift his head up to see Piers thinking deep to himself not exactly aware of his surroundings.

He looked over and his eyed finally acknowledged Chris and he responded, 'W-what did you say?'

Chris shook his head finding it pointless to ask again. 'I have to make a phone call. We have to keep moving.' He turned to start walking as he pulled out his cell phone when Piers grabbed his arm to stop him.

'I think I may have an idea what's going on...' Chris eyes open wide for a moment to stop and listen. 'But... Not here. We have to go somewhere safe...maybe some place high since we're in the city.'

Chris eyes narrowed for a moment not liking the idea to wait for an explanation. 'We have to go back to the house to get Jill. I know a short cut from here. You alright with walking cadet space head?'

Piers glared at the random nickname and responded, 'I'm perfectly fine.' He sighed harshly and felt a little embarrassed.

'Okay just making sure. Don't fall behind.' Chris went down the alley and pulled out his cell phone to call Jill. First her, then they can figure things out from there. Her cell phone went straight to voicemail.

Come on Jill... Pick up.

Once they were in Chris' neighborhood, they were able to slow down but they were weary of their steps. They noticed that cars were missing in their driveway. Piers looked around and noticed that there was an obvious struggle in some areas. They finally arrived at Chris' house. The windows in the front were shattered and the door was wide open.

'Jill!'

Piers watch Chris run into the house to find her. Piers walked inside and noticed the place was ransacked.

Like someone was looking for something.

Chris ran back down the steps from upstairs and was about to check the basement when Piers stopped him. 'Don't you find this a little strange?'

Chris stopped dead in his tracks and looked at Piers, 'She wasn't upstairs. So- wait what?' He looked around and noticed that Piers did have a point. He looked outside and noticed that his house indeed had the most damage compared to the rest.

Why would someone go through his house and not others?

Chris headed back upstairs and grabbed his handgun and met up with Piers in the living room. He gave Piers extra ammo before he proceed to walk through the rest of the house. He held his gun up weary of any intruder as he tried to figure out the location of Jill. He walked into the dining room and kitchen and still found nothing.

Piers took the initiative to head down the basement first. He slowly stepped down on each step as he could hear some of them creak under his foot steps. His mind started to wonder back into the facility but he shook his head to try to rid of it. His captain was counting on him. He couldn't let his captain down. He walk around to the washer room and still didn't stumble across anything.

He looked at the door that lead to the garage. He slowly turned the knob and quickly opened the door and aim his gun. So far he didn't find anything suspicious. He walked inside the dark area. The garage door shed a little light through the cracks of the door. It was empty and things were neatly stacked up on the shelves. He push a button he assumed that opened the garage door. The door slowly rose as the outside light spilled into the room.

He turned around to foot steps, thinking Chris was coming down the steps when something jumped on top of him. Piers fell to the floor harshly and his gun slid across the floor. Something tug at his black backpack harshly as he was trying to reach over to his gun. It tugged on him one more time causing Piers to be lifted and thrown on the floor. He landed on his back as his backpack was flung across the room.

Piers looked over and saw something he could never erase from his nightmares. He ran over to get his backpack back but the creature pounced on him and bit his left shoulder. He gasped as his body felt weak all of a sudden. He felt a chill run through his body. He watched as the four legged creature snatched his backpack and ran away as he collapsed to his knees on the floor.

His vision started to blur as he saw Chris ran towards him. When he felt the other touched his shoulder he moaned as the his warmth made contact to his skin.

I don't want him to see me like this.

All of a sudden everything went dark.

He woke up with a sudden gasp, choking for air. He breathed in deeply, his lungs appreciating the air filling the. He was laying on the couch while Chris sat in front of him. He was laying on the floor starring up at the ceiling. Piers blinked trying to remember what happened.

Chris sat up, 'You were out for a bit.'

Piers sighed and asked, 'Anything else happened while I was out?'

Chris shook his head, 'No. I just assumed they got what they were looking for.'

Piers eyes widen realizing that the creature did run off with his backpack. He sighed dramatically as he settled back in the couch and covering his face.

'...Jill also isn't answering her phone.'

Piers turned his head slightly and frowned, 'We'll find her Chris...'

'I don't know where to even start looking.'

'Any friends or family?

'No...um... Well yeah we have a few.' He scratched the back of his head. It was a farfetched idea considering he hasn't talk to any of them in a while but it is worth a shot.

Piers nodded. 'We can start there...'
