Erin lay on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. She groaned and turned onto her side to stare at the canister curiously. So badly she wanted to touch the stuff but Katie was so firm with not wanting it to be touched. Erin grunted and made her way over. A small grin appeared on her lips as she got closer and closer.
"What Katie doesn't know won't hurt anyone." She muttered, slowly reaching over. She opened the canister and stared at the goo inside. She lifted the container prepared to dip her finger in when a loud thump on the roof gave her a shock. This made her throw the canister into the air and the substance to spill out. It suddenly landed on her and started to burn. Erin let out a scream. The only problem was that her parents were away working so there was no one to help her. Her screams grew distorted as fur sprouted from her flesh and her body grew a bit, becoming less feminine by the second. Soon, the glow disappeared and a furry figure was crouching on the ground. The figure lifted its head and a yelp escaped its mouth.
"Oh my God! I sound like freaking Markiplier!" It was a he. 'Erin' looked around before looking at his arms, gasping at the sight of his furry body. The now-wolf mutant exited his room from the window, knowing he shouldn't let his family see him like this. In the moonlight, he stared at his reflection. Auburn fur, wolf appendages, a more masculine, yet still thin, body. 'Erin' thought he looked hideous. Immediately, he pried up the cover of a manhole and went inside, hiding from any civilisation. He headed deeper in until he came to an abandoned area, or so it seemed. 'Erin' thought he was safe until a blade pressed up against his neck.
"Who are you and what is your business?" A voice said from behind him. He trembled slightly, raising his hands. 'Erin' stood there for a bit, his breathing growing heavy. He was terrified, he was confused, he was lost and now someone was threatening him. Hell, he wasn't even a he to start with! 'Erin' felt himself grow frantic, scared for his life.
"I'm sorry, please don't kill me! I-I don't, I don't even, I can't! I just can't!" 'Erin' couldn't even speak properly, babbling out incoherent words. The weapon was removed from his neck and he was turned around. The thing before him was a giant turtle wearing a blue mask. Leo stared at the terrified wolf and sighed, rubbing his forehead gently. 'Erin' was so scared he couldn't speak, afraid that this odd man-turtle would hurt him. Leo glanced around before turning back to him hesitantly, trying to pick his words carefully as to not scare the new mutant any more.
"Do you... have anywhere to stay? Any mutant buddies or... or gangs?" Leo asked, a little bit pathetically. He earned a head shake 'no' and sighed, trying to think. "Maybe you could stay with me and my brothers... but don't try anything or else you're out of here faster than two shakes of your tail." 'Erin' perked up and nodded quickly, raising his hands higher to show he wasn't a threat. The next day, Erin hadn't appeared at school and April, Katie and Zoe worried for their friend greatly. Katie fiddled with her fingers from her place on the bench outside. She knew Erin didn't get sick easily so something must've been really wrong.
"I've got a bad feeling, you guys." Katie muttered quietly. "Erin's never sick and this is just worrying. The poor girl. I wonder if something's happened?" Zoe sighed before putting in her earphones and listening to music on a radio station on her phone.
"I know, right? This is just weird. Erin would have also texted us if she wasn't going to be in school. I think we should see her after." April suggested. Before Katie could reply, Zoe pulled out her earphones.
"I'm getting a call. Hold on." She held up a finger and moved off to the side. Katie sighed and crossed her arms, trying to relax but it was impossible with thoughts cluttering up her mind.
"I just don't get it. How could she suddenly just get sick like that? She was perfectly healthy yesterday! No questions asked." She exclaimed, getting a bit annoyed. She tried to figure it out in her head but she came up with nothing. Groaning in annoyance, Katie rubbed the bridge of her nose while trying to get her brain to work. "Think, Katie, think! Use your goddamn brain! If you can pass Physics with flying colours, you can do this! Come on!" She hit the side of her head with the heel of her palm, trying to get hose gears working but they just couldn't. She didn't have enough information to try and come up with logical and accurate theories. "God damnit, Katie! Just think!" She started to get angry. Before she could yell, Zoe dashed towards them quickly, hanging up her phone. Her eyes were wide with shock and horror.
"Guys, we have a problem. Erin's gone missing." Zoe stated nervously, earning two loud 'WHAT's from the other two teenage females. Katie rose to her feet quickly.
"No, you've got to be joking! Was she kidnapped? Did she run away or something?" Katie questioned quickly, fearing for their friend.
"That was Erin's mom. She doesn't know what happened but the police suspect that she's been kidnapped. The canister she found was in her room lying on the ground with some of the goopy stuff on the carpet. There was possibly a struggle and she used that to defend herself." Zoe answered, watching as Katie brought her red-painted nails up to tap them on her cheek in thought. The canister had been possibly opened? That was definitely not a good sign.
Erin was missing, the canister was open. Just where had she gone, though?
