Belle's P.O.V.
I woke to the sound of Em dashing about the room. Where were we? Oh right, a crappy motel room in the middle of nowhere in America. With Castiel and the Winchesters. Great. Slowly I sat up rubbing my eyes.
"Oh sorry did I wake you? It's late anyway. The Winchesters are in the car. " Em smiled. She was fully dressed and pulling on her shoes.
"What time is it?" I asked standing up
"Late. 11.30"
"That's early!" I groaned falling back on the bed.
Em laughed and jumped on the edge of my bed.
" Hey big sis! Wake up. Belle!" Em kept smacking my arm.
"Ow. Stop hitting me. I'm the one who fell from the sky and landed on some bins." I huff at Em sending her a glare.
"It's not my fault you're not coordinated." Em stood up and walked into the bathroom holding a black brush in her hands. I sit up, dreading to face the day.
I stretched and walked over to the corner of the room. Since I'd slept in my clothes I didn't have to change. But that doesn't mean I don't have to get ready. I found the mirror and pulled a mascara from my bag, applying it generously.
" Are you nervous?" Asked Em from in the bathroom
"No why?"
"About getting to know the Winchesters!" She said with an excited tone to her voice.
"Why would I be excited about talking to a sarcastic arse hole?" I mean Dean was nice for a while when he was reassuring me, but I could tell he was definitely a womanizer.
"They're not that bad, Belle." Em walked behind me and stole the eyeliner from off the grungy, worn, wooden dressing table and applied it to her waterline making her blue eyes look even more like the ocean than usual. I put the mascara on the surface of the dressing table and took the eyeliner pencil from Em's hand when she'd finished with it. She swiped the mascara over her already long eyelashes and threw it in my bag.I began to brush through my long, thick, brown hair. The red tips at the end flickered like flames in a bonfire. Finally I untangled all of the knots and gazed at myself in the mirror. There I was. Still me.
"Hurry up! " Em laughed as she grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards the door. "Wait! I need a hat!" I smiled, reaching into my bag and pulling out a black beanie and cramming it on my head.
"What else have you got in there? A gun?!" Em joked.
"Coincidentally..." I smiled producing a silver pistol from the bottom of my bag. We laughed.
"Let's go! " she grinned, pulling me out of the door.
As she was running Em pulled her ebony hair into a pony tail securing it with a black hair bobble that moulded in with her hair due to the colour. Her trainer clad feet hit the floor as she walked with a slight skip in her step.
"What do you think we'll be doing today?" Em was still thinking about the Winchester's; If I didn't know any better I'd think that she was fangirling over them, but she only reserved that for her book boyfriends.
" Helping puppies down at the shelter? Volunteering at the soup kitchen? Knitting jumpers for the homeless?" I suggested sarcastically.
Dean stepped out of the car, " Ladies! Good morning!" He grinned.
Sam loomed from behind him like a puppy but a lot bigger and tall - I'm guessing it was the eyes.
'I guess we've found the puppy." I whisper to Em as I discreetly nudge her arm with my elbow. Em giggles and tried to hide it with a little cough as her face flushed a bright shade of red. Castiel appeared in front of them. Great. I'm expecting some lecture on my behaviour toward Em. I inhaled deeply and walked towards them. My pulse quickened. I attempted to hide my dread.
"Ah, and a good morning to you, green eyes. " I smiled toward Dean.
"Girls, we need to talk. " Cas nodded toward the bench outside of the motel.
"Okay Cas, what's this about? " asked Em as we walked.
"How you plan to survive on Earth."
"Well we were just gonna live like the human half of us... You know fending for ourselves. Being independent." Cas's eyes nearly bugged out of his head as I said that.
"Live like humans? You'll stand out Belle. I mean you're more advanced than a human. Don't you think people will notice if your wings were to erupt in a surge of adrenaline?" Em just stared between us.
" Hey I'm not stupid Cas! I can live like a human again! " I smiled, desperate to lighten the mood,"Just give us a lift to the nearest town centre and we'll be fine!"
"No" Cas muttered looking at the floor.
"Sorry, I missed that?" I asked.
"Arabella I said no. You can't go on your own. " Em opened her mouth to speak but she cut off.
"Well who do you recommend we stay with? Them?!" I laughed nodding toward the Winchesters.
"Yes," Cas said," Only for a little while."
"We don't know them Cas! For all we know they could be axe murderers and don't say they aren't because you trust them." I glared at Cas as he looked at me. How dare he try and dictate how Em and I live our lives. Em looked between me and Cas again sensing that the tension was building up in each of us.
" Look at them. Do they look like they would kill you? " He asked. I turned to look at the brothers who were sitting on the bonnet of the impala playing rock, paper, scissors. " Just stay with them until you blend in again. " Cas suggested.
"Fine. " I huffed.
I walked towards the Winchester's and looked back to see if Em and Cas were following. They were leaning close to each other whispering in, if i do say so my self, quite loud voices.
I heard Em say something like " I'll look after her. Don't worry." Which made me angry. Her look after me?! I'm older! I protect her! Still I walked to the car.
" Right boys, looks like we're staying with you for a while. " I straightened up, making myself look taller. " So I'm here to offer my services as a hunter. " I extended my hand and Dean shook it.
" Hey this ain't a job application you know? Cas has explained it to us." He smiled
" I'm being polite you idiot." I said through a forced smile.
I was starting to loose my temper with Dean. I know knew what people meant when they said chivalry was dead...
Sam smiled politely at me but he seemed slightly awkward at Dean and I and the way we acted towards each other.
"I'm just gonna get in the car..." I trailed off with my sentence and opened the door of the car. Em has started to walk towards us and Cas had zapped out, as usual.
The impala felt safe and secure. Like a home. I sank into the back seat and fastened my seatbelt. I'd seen dean's driving. Em joined me in the back with a smile.
"This is gonna be great, trust me," she smiled, clipping her seatbelt in.
"Okay, I'm trusting you. " I sighed. To be fairly honest I just wanted more sleep. I'd spent most of last night trying to come up with strategies for money. All I got was darts, pool and poker. The usual for me. Em opened her messenger bag and took out a book as we waited for the Winchester's to get in.
"Are you nearly finished with Harry Potter already?" I ask Em incredulously.
"Yes. This is a quality piece of literature. Now shut your mouth ,'cause I think you might swallow a fly, and go to sleep." Em looks down at the book and her brow furrows as she gets engrossed in the storyline.
"For once Em, I'm going to listen to you. Goodnight " I turned and curled up on the backseat.
" Night!" Em laughed. Soon enough I fell asleep.
Sam's P.O.V.
I stood up and wandered around the empty yard. How would dean take the news of these two girls joining us? " Dean, where are we going?" I asked.
He stood,"Well, we can't take two complete novice hunters hunting without training."
"Dean, they're half angel. I mean if the half angel part about them doesn't assure you that they can fight then think about the other night when they took on a nest of forty vampires." Dean looked up at me as he absorbed what I had just said.
"What about Em after though? She was a blubbering mess, Sammy. She was wracked with guilt over killing the filthy blood suckers."
"She can fight. Look if you check Belle's combat fighting and I'll check how well em can research. We can swap after if you want?" I suggested.
"Sure. Sounds good Sammy. "
A comfortable silence forms only disturbed by our footsteps as we make our way to the impala. "It's kind of exciting isn't it?" I ask
"I suppose." Dean mumbles.
" We're gonna be joined for a bit. It's only a bit but it'll be good! " I smiled.
Dean grinned, " Right okay then. Can we leave now Mr. Enthusiastic? "
"Fine. Stop being negative. We have other people who understand our lives, at least slightly."
" Sorry. I'm just a little shaken up that's all " Dean looked at me. His expression changed suddenly to a wide grin as he pointed into the back of the impala. "Sammy, look at sleeping beauty!" I followed his arm to see Belle fast asleep in the back seat. I looked over at Em who had her nose buried in a book, oblivious to her surroundings. I opened the passenger door and climbed into the car as the warmth started to wrap it's fingers around me, enticing me into its grips.
"Hi, sorry, she's kinda tired. Rough day yesterday" Em said.
"Oh no, I understand, what are you reading?" I asked, trying to take an interest without being creepy.
"Oh, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." She glanced up at me briefly and went back to reading Harry Potter, absorbed into the story.
I've never read Harry Potter. But I can pretend. " Oh right yeah, good book" I replied. Dean got in the drivers seat slowly so as not to wake belle.
"Oh have you read it then?" Em whispered. Belle snored a little and moved her arm.
I laughed awkwardly, "I don't really read much unless it's research for a case." Dean snickered at my response.
" Oh well never mind." she muttered, going back to her book. Dean started the engine. " Right then, we're best going to a field or something," he said reversing the impala. "Why?" asked em " Practice."
I looked at Em to see if she'd had a reaction about what we were doing today: apparently she didn't notice or care. There was yet another silence that descended upon us as we tried not to wake Belle up; the silence was only broke when Em turned the pages of her book.
Suddenly a noise came from the backseat. " Em. Em no. No Em. EM!" Belle sat bolt up right.
" Hey hey hey. It's okay, I'm here!" Em smiled leaning forward to see her sister. "Are you okay?" I asked
" Yeah sorry. Bad dream that's all. Hey where are we going? "
"To a field." Em said with no emotion in her voice.
"A... Field?" Belle questioned as she wiped her hand across her face swiping away the sleep and smudging her makeup.
" I didn't wanna ask. Here's a mirror. " said Em as she passed a compact to Belle, "Thanks." she replied. I could of sworn there were tears in her eyes but I could be mistaken. I looked at Dean as he turned sharply and sped up as we approached the dilapidated field that held an eerie aura towards it.
"So, can I ask what we're doing?" questioned Belle.
"Training sweetheart." smirked Dean.
I caught a glimpse of her pulling a face at him when he couldn't see and em laughed. Her laugh was really sweet. Sort of light and floaty. Her face flushed red as she saw me looking at her. Pushing her raven hair in front of her face creating a barrier she looked down and intensely focused her gaze on the page she was reading in her book. A soft snoring filled the car.
It had been about an hour since Belle had fallen asleep. The uneven terrain jerked the car rattling everyone violently.
Belle threw back her head and pushed her arms out in the air yawning. " Thanks for letting me sleep." she muttered.
" You needed it." grunted Dean.
"What does that mean? " Belle challenged
" Nothing personal sweetheart, I'm just guessing you didn't sleep well."
Silence enveloped the confines of the car.
We carried on driving through the field for what seemed like hours until Dean pulled the car over to an area that was overshadowed with humongous trees.
"Everyone out." Dean said as he parked the impala.
"What are we doing?" asked Belle as she left the car.
" Which one do you want Sammy?" asked Dean.
" Em?" I suggested. She got out of the impala and clutched her book.
" Em, go with Sammy, he's gonna teach you some hunters tricks. Belle, it's me and you I'm afraid. "
Belle grunted in protest as Em looked at me uneasily and looked longingly at the book she was gripping. I flashed a reassuring smile at her and looked at Dean for further instructions about what we were going to teach the girls.
"First we're going to teach you hand to hand combat." Dean's voice echoed around the field. "Then we're going to practise weaponry use and then research." Dean looked at me and nodded.
"Are you actually kidding me?! Do you think we're amateurs?! " Belle scoffed. Dean walked into the centre of the field and we followed. " Right, girls stand about ten steps in front of us. " Dean instructed. A breeze wafted through the field causing the trees and grass to sway.
This time Em spoke up rather than Belle, which shocked me.
"Can I just finish this chapter?" Em said breathlessly, almost like a whisper.
"No." snapped Dean which made Em gulp. Her face turned red as rage flashed in her eyes.
"You didn't just say that did you?" grinned Belle.
"I'm going to finish this chapter and then I'll play your stupid little game." smirked Em. Her voice changed from her usual one to a voice similar to Belle's, dripping in sarcasm and anger.
" No, you'll be tested and taught now. Now put it down and run at Sam." Dean demanded.
Em put her book down and with a gleam in her eyes spat, " Fine. Here we go sam."
I started to laugh, but stopped when Em's expression darkened further.
"Are you ready, Sammy?" She smirked again and looked into my eyes: her now icy blue eyes into my bluey, green eyes. I wasn't so sure now.
"Of course he's ready." Dean remarked.
"Em" said Belle.
" What?"
" Go easy on him hey, he's only small. And remember that he wouldn't let you finish your chapter. " Added Belle.
" Wait, that was Dean!" I protested.
" Shut up. It was him Emmy. He tore you away from fiction." Belle continued.
She dashed at me without warning; she rammed me into a tree and jammed her slim arm on my neck applying a little pressure to make me gasp uncomfortably, but to be able to breathe.
"Is that proof enough for you, Dean?" she spat.
Fear spiked through me: travelling through my spine and making me shiver.
"Damn!" whistled Dean.
"Easy girl, easy!" warned Belle.
Em looked me in the eyes and smiled.
" I am going easy! " She laughed before releasing her grip. " Thanks Sam" she muttered over her shoulder before walking back to her book.
She went to the car and opened the backdoor and sat on the leather seats; opening her book she settled as I watched her get lost in her fictional world. I turned away from her and watched the interaction between Dean and Belle.
" You sure you wanna do this, green eyes?" threatened Belle.
" Positive" Dean spat, wearing his slanted grin proudly on his face. He raised him arms, readying himself.
" I apologise in advance" Belle scoffed before running at him full speed. The impact knocked Dean onto his back on the floor. Belle pressed her left arm across his neck and held his head down with her right one.
"Ready to surrender, green eyes?" Belle asked as she tightened her grip on Dean. His face was starting to turn an impressive shade of scarlet.
"Let me go." wheezed Dean. She unhanded him ungraciously and he landed butt first in mud.
"How many times do I have to say that we know what we're doing? Do we have to get attacked by vampires again to prove Em and I know how to use weapons and fight?" Belle was becoming impatient as Dean looked up at her with awe in his eyes.
"Wow, that was impressive... For a girl" Dean muttered as he stood up. Belle looked at Dean and smirked.
"You never learn do you?" she grinned before kicking the back of his knees causing him to fall face first into the mud. "Impressive for a girl, eh sam?" Belle scoffed. I couldn't help but laugh at my brother. It seemed he'd met his match.
