"For the last time, Klaus, stop leaving your goddamn dishes in the sink!"

"For the last time, Caroline, where else would you like me to put them?"

Caroline met his glare with one of her own, blue eyes fierce and unwavering in their anger. Up your ass, she was tempted to reply, but knew that would be a less than constructive addition to the conversation. "Oh, I dunno, how about the dishwasher? Or you could maybe actually clean them for once!"

Klaus rolled his eyes, annoyed with the same argument they had been having since he became her roommate six months ago. "Alright, sweetheart, I'll do my dishes if you can learn to turn off a bloody light when you leave the room! I'm tired of paying for you lackadaisical attitude when the electric bill comes!"

"Lacka-" Caroline scoffed, shaking her head in disbelief. "You want to talk about lazy? How about the fact that your socks can never seem to find their way into the hamper. What, is there some kind of magnetic force repelling them from joining the rest of your clothes in the laundry?"

Klaus snorted. "That's rich coming from the person who can't hang up a towel to save her life."

"At least I don't leave hair all over the sink! When you finally decide to trim that scraggly mess you call a beard, that is."

His eyes narrowed dangerously, barely able to stop his hand from shooting up to his jawline to check his scruff. "Really? How can you tell with all the crap you insist on cluttering up the sink top with?"

Caroline's eyes widened before her glare returned stronger than before. "My beauty products are not crap."

"Hmm, well for the amount of money you spend on them, you should be getting better results," he taunted with a smirk, pleased when her face reddened.

She made an indignant noise before managing to respond. "You want to talk about a waste of money? How about that hundred dollar cologne you dose yourself in every morning? It makes you smell like a nursing home! And FYI, that is not an attractive scent!"

"I've never had any complaints," he sneered, glaring down at her. When had they moved from across the room to right in front of one another?

Caroline's face took on a disgusted look. "Yeah about that, how about you learn to close your freaking door when your 'lady friends' are over?!"

"Why? Jealous?" he teased, smirking down at her.

She scoffed loudly, even as she felt her face heat up. "As if I would be! I just don't need to hear all that moaning and groaning when I'm trying to sleep!"

"Mmm, sounds like jealousy to me."

"Oh, fuck you. If anyone is jealous it's you!" she growled, poking him in the chest with a polished nail.

It was Klaus' turn to scoff. "Really? Please enlighten me as to how I'm jealous of your boy toys."

"Oh, I don't know, the fact that you're always in the living room glaring at them when they leave is a big hint! I don't need you policing my sex life, Klaus!"

"I don't know what you're talking about," he insisted, his eyes shifting to the side.

Caroline was about to make another biting remark before she noticed. It was more than unusual for Klaus to break eye contact during an argument. He basically considered it an admission of defeat. So why was he looking away now?

"… What's your problem?" she asked bluntly, still too riled up to be anything but.

His eyes shifted back, meeting hers for a tense moment before rolling. "You, obviously. Or have you not been paying attention this entire time?"

Caroline's fists clenched in anger as she glared at him. "You are the most insufferable person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting!"

"The feeling is mutual, sweetheart," Klaus grit out, giving her a sarcastic smirk.

"You are so obnoxious! And rude. And annoying. And self-righteous. And a loudmouth. And did I mention obnoxious?"

"I'm glad to see your vocabulary is as varied as your wardrobe."

"Does your mouth even have a filter? Or did that get stuck in customs along with your manners?"

"Very clever. And you seem quite interested in my mouth for someone who seems to despise me so," he said, smirk returning.

He was rewarded with an incredulous look. "What the hell are you even talking about. Why would I care about your mouth?"

"Oh, I don't know, why don't you tell me. I've caught you looking at my lips before. Something interest you?"

Caroline rolled her eyes. "Oh, so we're talking about things we think the other doesn't know we notice, are we? Like how your eyes are constantly glued to my ass when you think I'm not looking?"

Klaus was taken aback for a moment before he resumed his taunting look. "How about the way your eyes practically devour me whenever I leave the bathroom in a towel?"

A raised eyebrow met his challenge, even if the cheeks below were tinted pink. "How about you making ridiculous excuses to pass by the living room whenever I'm doing yoga?"

"How about when you essentially start drooling whenever I wear my grey suit?"

"How about that time you walked in on me in my underwear and you couldn't be in the same room with me for a week without turning red as a beet and running off to your room."

Klaus was struck speechless for a moment at the memory, face flushing as he remembered exactly what he did when he hid in his room. He recovered quickly, however. "Well, how about the way you didn't cover yourself when I walked in on you? The way you dropped the shirt you were holding instead of covering up with it?"

She was the one reduced to silence this time. "I don't know what you're talking about," she huffed, pursing her lips anxiously.

"Really?" he asked, brow raised as he inched closer until his chest was almost touching hers. "You don't remember the way our eyes met and for a moment we both stopped breathing? The way your lips parted and I took a step forward, about to reach out before we both came back to reality?"

Her eyes locked onto his, searching. "… Maybe."

Caroline watched his head dip down towards hers, licking her lips in unknown anticipation.

"The way I've wanted to do this ever since I walked in that door six damn months ago," he whispered, breath tickling her lips before he captured them with his own, the soft kiss quickly escalating as the massive sexual tension surrounding them finally exploded.

Caroline gasped into his mouth as his hands clutched her hips, pulling her flush against him. Her arms wrapped around his neck in response, gripping his short curls as she angled her head, tongue delving into his mouth as he moaned at her touch. Her hands began to wander, around his neck, into his hair, along his jawline, running her fingers against the scruff she found there.

"For someone who called it a 'scraggly mess,' you sure seem to enjoy touching my facial hair, sweetheart," he breathed against her lips, a soft moan leaving him when she moved her hands down and pulled at his belt.

"Shut up, Klaus," she husked, biting his lip in warning as she whipped the belt from the loops on his pants. "You talk too much."

"Whatever you say, love," he smirked against her lips, reaching down to pull her up by her hips, pleased when her legs wrapped around his waist.

Caroline moaned at the move, holding her body flush against his as he carried them to a bedroom; which one she didn't care. "After this," she said with a gasp as his mouth latched onto her neck, "you still need to clean those goddamn dishes."

Klaus answered that with a particularly strong suck to her skin and then all thoughts of dishes fled their minds.
