Hey guys I know we're getting to the end now and I'm sorry for how long this story's been dragging, but I've been distracted, by school work, work, reading new FanFictions and writing a few potential new stories which are not going to be up until I actually finish them less of a wait then, I was contemplating doing a filler chapter before this one but decided against it for now, I still have the beginnings of it saved if you want me to put it up and rearrange the order after this is complete let me know. I don't own anything... Yet.

Utopia!

Enjoy!

"So where do you want to go?" he asked,

"Surprise?" I asked Martha, she nodded.

"Yeah, Surprise us!" Martha repeated with a grin. The Doctor ran about the console setting co-ordinates a grin on his face...

XXX

The Doctor was finally done setting the co-ordinates, and we had just landed, I wanted to see where we were, another planet? a different time? Then I find out...

"Cardiff." The Time Lord shouts, I felt the color leave my face instantly...

No.

"Cardiff?" Martha repeats,

Please.

"Ah, but the thing about Cardiff is that it's built on a rift in time and space-just like California and the San Andreas Fault. The rift bleeds energy. Every now and then I need to open up the engines, soak up the energy and use it as fuel." The doctor explains,

Anywhere but here...

...

"It's an honor to meet you, miss Phoenix, Mister Saxon speaks highly of you." Tish's voice echo's.

"I'm Phoenix." his eyes widened,

"It's an honor to meet you."

...

"So it's a pit stop." Martha asked, I nod absent-mindedly,

How did he know me, well I know how obviously but he talked about me, in a positive way and I don't know why.

"Wait a minute. They had an earthquake in Cardiff a couple years ago. Was that you?" Martha asked looking between us,

"I wasn't there but I know what happened." I state,

"Bit of trouble with the Slitheen." The doctor mused looking at the screen,

"It was a lifetime ago, literally." I tell her,

"Finito. All powered up." He said hurriedly starting the TARDIS looking slightly panic stricken, The console sparks and we're thrown to the floor,

"What's that?" Martha demanded clinging to the console, I looked at the screen,

"We're accelerating?into the future." I inform even though I already knew,

"The year one billion. Five billion. Five trillion. 50 trillion. What?" He shouts,

"The year 100 trillion." I announce,

"That's impossible!" He cries in shock,

"Why? What happens then?" Martha asked panicking slightly now,

"We're going to the end of the universe." We state, he more incredulous and I far more solemn and discontent,

XXX

It wasn't a harsh landing but I knew that was only our side of the story, the other was outside... Somewhere I really didn't want to go,

"Well, we have landed." The Doctor's voice knocked me from my fear induced musings,

"So what s out there?" Martha asked looking at him,

"I don t know." He replied, Martha smiled,

"Say that again. That s rare." She then looked at me, and her face showed concern,

"Not even the Time Lords came this far." He continued to muse,

"Phoenix?" They were both looking at me now,

"I can't change anything..." I whisper, "I can't even warn you..."

"It'll be alright." the Doctor assured and I smiled bitterly, he was the one saying that and he was the one most affected in the end, I walked towards the door and felt my gut twist, not even the thought of Jack Harkness on the other side of the door could make this any better. I opened it and Martha and the Doctor rushed out, it was bleak, dark, deserted. Martha and the Doctor caught sight of the man on the ground.

"Oh my God!" Martha exclaims rushing over to the body, "Can t get a pulse. Hold have you got that medical kit thing." Martha runs into the TARDIS. We walked over and stood by his side,

"Hello again. Oh, I m sorry." The doctor murmurs, I roll my eyes and look uneasily around, Martha rushes back med kit in hand and shoves us out the way,

"Here we go. Out of the way. It s a bit odd, though. Not very 100 trillion that coat s more like World War II." She speaks.

"He's not from here Martha." I inform,

"I think he came with us." The Timelord tagged on,

"How d you mean? From Earth?" She asks, I nod still looking around.

"Must've been clinging to the outside of the TARDIS all the way through the vortex. Well, that very him." The Doctor explains, I elbow him in the ribs,

"You knew he was coming." I mutter so only he can hear, he doesn't say anything and I think I'm happier that way,

"What? Do you know him?" Martha demands,

"Friend of mine. Used to travel with me. Back in the old days." The doctor answers,

"Future friend of mine I used his money to buy our house when we encountered the angels." I also answer,

"But he- sorry, there s no heartbeat. There s nothing. He s dead." I hold up three fingers and count down.

Two...

And one

queue Jack's gasps for air as his heart starts working once more, grabbing Martha who screams in fright,

"Oh well, so much for me. It s all right. Just breathe deep. I've got you now." Martha breathes out,

"Captain Jack Harkness. And who are you?" He Gasps,

"Martha Jones." Martha replies,

"Nice to meet you, Martha Jones. And your name red?" I look over,

"Phoenix - Not interested Jack." I cut off as he goes to greet me,

"Oh, don t start!" The Doctor snapped,

"I was just saying hello." Jack complained,

"You were flirting." I interrupt,

"I don t mind." Martha interjects,

"Of course you don't." I mutter, Martha helps him up and Jack and the Doctor stare at each other coldly,

"Doctor." Jack greets,

"Captain." The alien says cordially,

"Good to see you." He continues, not meaning it from what I could tell,

"And you. Same as ever...although...have you had work done?" I smirk slightly at that still looking for the trouble I know is going to come,

"You can talk!" Jack snarls, the doctor looked confused for a moment before it dawned on him,

"Oh yes, the face. Regeneration. How did you know this was me?" He questioned slightly curious,

"The police box kinda gives it away. I've been following you for a long time. You abandoned me." Jack accused, I sigh,

"Did I? Busy life. Move on." the Timelord dismisses,

"He's prejudice." I input still looking we were nearly there.

"Just gotta ask. The Battle of Canary Wharf. I saw the list of the dead. It said Rose Tyler." Jacks voice was hopeful if only a little,

"Oh no! Sorry! She s alive!" The Doctor exclaimed in excitement grin wide on his face, I felt something go through me but I couldn't place it as fast as it was there it was gone, but it made me feel sick...

"You re kidding?!" Jack shouted in glee, not thinking his hope would of been well placed but was obviously wrong,

"Parallel world safe and sound. And Mickey! And her mother!" The doctor continued,

"Oh yes!" Jack boomed, a small smile lite my face at seeing my link happy, even if it was because of another girl, but that didn't mean it didn't leave a bitter taste in my mouth, the two hug and laugh, Martha looked over at me and her face turned slightly in distaste as well as annoyance,

"Good old Rose." She murmurs I smile at her and clasp her shoulder,

"Don't worry about it, she was with him after the war, she made him the man he is now and she helped to save Jacks life, he doesn't compare you to her, all of you are special." I whispered to her, her expression didn't lighten but she smiled for my and Martha walking in front the Doctor and I, he was currently telling the story of how the doctor left him on game station.

XXX

"So there I was, stranded in the year 200,100, ankle-deep in Dalek dust, and he goes off without me. But I had this." He holds up his wrist and taps the vortex manipulator, "I used to be a Time Agent. It s called a vortex manipulator. He s not the only one who can time travel." I scoff at those words,

"Oh, excuse me." The doctor said sarcastically,

"That is not time travel." I bit out, I was still a little bitter from 1918,

"It s like I've got a sports car and you've got a space hopper." The alien ranted,

"Look compare it later I want this over faster than is probably possible." I snap and all three look at me,

"Is it really that bad?" Martha whispers, I shrug but don't meet her eyes as the doctor takes my hand. Jack seemed to understand that i didn't want attention.

"All right, so I bounced. I thought 21st century, best place to find the Doctor except that I got it a little wrong. I arrived in 1869 and this thing burnt out so it was useless." He continues with his story,

"Told you." The doctor commented smugly,

"I had to live through the entire 20th century waiting for a version of you that would coincide with me." Jack accused, I sigh,

"God you're like children."

"That makes you more that 100 years old." Martha points out in slight disbelief,

"And looking good, doncha think?" He winked, "So I went to the time rift, based myself thing cause I knew you d come back to refuel. Until finally I get a signal on this detecting you and here we are." Jack concluded,

"But the thing is, how come you left him behind, Doctor?" Martha demands, I look on,

"I was busy." He defends I snort now,

"You're prejudice." I correct he sent me a glare to which I smile sweetly,

"Is that what happens, though? Seriously? Do you just get bored with us one day and disappear?" She looked hurt and I look away,

"Not if you re blonde." Harkness comments snidely, he yelped suddenly and waved his hand to cool it off, I'll leave you to figure it out...

"Oh, she was blonde? Oh what a surprise?" Martha questions sarcastically,

"Martha." I warn,

"You two! We re at the end of the universe. All right? We re at the edge of knowledge itself and you re busy blogging! Come on." I could hear the angered tone from the comments towards Rose and I could feel that same anger, he walked over to the edge of the canyon and see's the ruins of a deserted city.

"Is that a city?" Martha queries, I nod,

"A city or a hive. Or a nest. Or a conglomeration. Looks like it was grown. But look there. That s like pathways, roads Must have been some sort of life. Long ago." he informed as he looked at the sight before us,

"Everything has it's time, and everything dies." I whisper,

"What killed it?" Martha continues,

"Time." I answer simply,

"Just time. Everything s dying now. All the great civilizations have gone. This isn't just night. All the stars have burned up and faded away into nothing." I look at the sky and see the stars that I loved so much gone and felt mourning sweep through me though I could feel part of it was my own I knew another belonged to the watch.

"It must have an atmospheric shell. We should be frozen to death." Jack theorizes,

"Speak for yourself I'm a walking heater." he moved and placed a hand on my forehead before snapping it back,

"You should be dead." He speaks in awe,

"Not really this is normal." shrug and look back up at the sky,

"Well, Martha and I, maybe. Not so sure about you, Jack." He looks over at Jack knowingly,

"Prejudice." I cough,

"What about the people? Does no one survive?" Martha interrupted before anything could start.

"I suppose we have to hope. Life will find a way." I lower my head and look over at the doctor for his words, it would break his hearts to know...

"Well, he's not doin' too bad." Jack fills in, I tense, this was it... The beginning of the end... Looking down I see... Padra who is barely ahead of the future kind.

"Is it me, or does that look like a hunt?" The doctor asks, and then he realized that he was exactly right. "Come on!" He shouted, he took off with us close behind him, we run along a roadway and I hear Jack laugh,

"Oh, I've missed this!" insane idiot, Jack grabs a hold of the man as we reach him, "I've got you." I groan at the flirtatious tone,

"We've gotta run! They re coming! They re coming!" Jack steps past us drawing his revolver and aiming it at the FutureKind,

"Jack, don t you dare!" The Doctor orders, I could almost see Jacks shoulders slump as he pointed his gun in the air firing it and making them stop,

"What the hell are they?" Martha shouts,

"FutureKind." I intone,

"There's more of them. We've got to keep going." Padra warns frantically,

"I've got a ship nearby. It s safe. It s not far, it s just over there."

"Not going to work sweetie." I call, he looks over as I jerked my thumb to the Future kind blocking our path.

"Or maybe not." He concedes,

"We re close to the silo. If we get to the silo, then we re safe." I groan, I'd rather take my chances with the FutureKind... Fire would make them part we could easily get to her... I shake my head, I can't interfere with the timeline. The doctor looks over at Jack Martha and I,

"Silo?" he asked,

"Silo." Jack repeats,

"Silo for me." He looks over at me after Martha's answer and see's my hesitation,

"Phoenix?" I sigh,

"Silo." My tone was dead, the five of us run towards the silo followed by the future kind, I saw the gated area and the guards,

"It s the FutureKind! Open the gate!" Padra shouts,

"Show me your teeth! Show me your teeth! Show me your teeth!" I sigh,

"Oh for fuck sake." I climb up and over the fence careful of the barbed wired quickly so as to avoid getting shot and drop down on the other side moving the guard away and pulling the gate open slightly before slamming it shut and locking it behind everyone and turning to look at the guns pointed at me, "Now you can check our teeth all you want." I mutter as everyone grins to show their teeth, they look at me and I open my mouth to show my white teeth, and I step away from the fence quickly, the Doctor grabbed my hand in a tight hold.

A guard fired his gun at the floor in front of the FutureKind,

"Humans. Humani. Make feast." I glare as a heat filled my body,

"Go back to where you came from. I said go back! Go back!" He aims his gun at them,

"Oh, don t tell him to put down his gun." Jack complained, I sigh,

"He s not my responsibility." The doctor fires back, I wince,

"And I am?" Jack scoffs, "That makes a change." I'll admit he did deserve that a bit,

"Kind watch you. Kind hungry." I walk over to the fence a smile on my face eyes burning,

"You touch any of us and you'll be Barbie Que." I watch it smirk in taunt and blow out a puff of air only to have flames come out, it backed away fast with the others "Be a good kind and run away." my voice had dropped to a whisper my eyes burning gold and they turned tail and ran away.

"Thanks for that." The Doctor says to the guard,

"Thank your friend." he looks over at me and nods, nodding back I pull my hair over my shoulder and pull it into a quick plait. "Right. Let s get you inside."

"My name is Padrafet Shafekane. Please tell me, can you take me to Utopia?" I roll my eyes,

Utopia never existed... It could never exist.

"Oh yes, sir. Yes, I can." I hang my head at the lie, the guard led us into a large tunnel carved into a mountain the silo obviously. The further in we get the more tense I become and I knew that some of that was leaking through to the Timelord. He speaks into something,

"Professor! We've got four new humans inside. One of them is calling himself a doctor. The other is a... Phoenix..."

"Of medicine? and Fire." I heard the muffled response.

"He says of everything. The woman can breathe fire." we don't get a response but I could see Martha shaking from the cold and moved closer to her as I hold my hand out creating a small flame, she instantly hovers her hands near it with a sigh of relief smiling at me thankfully.

"That's some power you got there Red." Jack whistles, I roll my eyes,

"Comes with the species." he raises his eyebrow, "Star." a look of awe passes over his face and then he grins,

"Supernova." I roll my eyes at the corny comeback.

XXX

We were standing with Atillo, the Doctor describing the TARDIS,

"It s a box, a big blue box. I m sorry, but we really need it back. It s stuck out there." The Doctor tells him,

"I m sorry, but my family were heading for the silo. Did they get here? My mother is Kistane Shafekane. My brother is Beltone." Padra asks, desperate for an answer.

"The computers are down but you can check the paperwork. Creet!" I watch as a young boy of 10 sticks his head around the corner "Passenger needs help." I looked at the boy and I saw my Alex, her beautiful blue eyes and blonde, hair and then i saw what this boy would become, the face encased in a sphere...

...

"Lexi?" I look around and see Alex pulling at my hand and crouch down,

"What's up squirt?" I grin,

"Did you see the pretty stars last night?" I nod my smile broadening,

"I did, you know how much I love the stars." She tilts her head,

"Why do you watch stars?" I tap her on the nose,

"Because it's fun!" She laughed as I began to tickle her.

...

"Right. What d you need?" Creet's voice knocks me from the memory, it was one of the better ones. Padra walks over and checks the boys clipboard.

"A blue box, you said." Atillo confirms,

"Big, tall, wooden. Says Police ." The doctor answered,

"We re driving out for a last water collection. I'll see what I can do." Atillo informs as he goes to walk off,

"Thank you." The doctor called,

"Come on." Creet urges Padra,

"Sorry, but how old are you?" Martha asks,

"Old enough to work. This way." He answered shortly, I sigh it was scary how much I could compare a boy I didn't know to how I was at his age... I wrapped my arm through the doctors as we walked after the boy, I felt a lot more calm with him in physical contact. The corridors were lined with people camping until they rode on a rocket that would effectively kill them. "Kistane Shafekane. Kistane Shafekane. Kistane and Beltone Shafekane? Looking for a Kistane and Beltone Shafekane." Creet called down the hall of people,

"The Shafekanes anyone?" Padra asked feeling despair settle in thinking that they might not have made it,

"Anyone? Kistane and Beltone Shefkane? Anyone know the Shefkane family? Anyone called Shafekane?" Creet continued to call,

"It s like a refugee camp." Martha whispers,

"I liked New York better." I mutter back,

"Stinking." I hit him upside the head as we pass a man who stares "Ooh, sorry. No offence." I shake my head,

"Idiot.",

"You can talk red." He shot back,

"Yes I can, and I know a hell of a lot more than you Harkness." I had a slight smile but it didn't mask the seriousness of the statement,

"Don t you see that? The ripe old smell of humans. You survived. Oh, much better than a million years evolving into clouds of gas. And then another million as downloads, but you always revert to the same basic shape. The fundamental humans." The Doctor jabbers on, excitedly,

"Kistane Shafekane." Creet calls out again, still no reply,

"End of the universe and here you are. Indomitable! That s the word! Indomitable! Ha!" I lean my head on his shoulder, all I wanted was sleep...

"Is there a Kistane Shafekane?" Creet called getting slightly impatient, a woman stands,

"That s me." and then she saw Padra, he son I suppose,

"Mother?" He asks, ah definitely her son then,

"Oh my God." She gasps,

"Beltone?" he questions before running off to his family.

"It s not all bad news." Martha smiled.

XXX

We had found a door that the doctor was fiddling with and as Jack walks towards us a good looking man passes by and Jack... Well I'm sure you can guess,

"Captain Jack Harkness." He shakes the mans hand "And who are you?" I sigh as I fiddle with my sonic finding the right setting and helping the doctor, still nothing happened,

"Stop it Jack." I call over my shoulder,

"Give us a hand with this." The Doctor demands, Jack seemed to join us with Martha though he looked a little reluctant. "It s half deadlocked." He explained,

"See if you can overwrite the code." I input as the Doctor and I continue with the sonic's Jack makes his way over to the key pad.

"Let s find out where we are." The Doctor more stated than asked in interest, the door slid open and he almost fell into the Silo as I grasped his coat with Jack,

"Gotcha." Jack and I reassure together,

"Thanks." He nods,

"How did you cope without me?" Jack wondered aloud,

"I had Phoenix." The doctor shrugged nonchalantly,

"Now that is what I call a rocket." Martha breathed in amazement. Looking at it I had to agree, it was deffinatly an impressive rocket.

"They're not refugees, they re passengers." He gasps in understanding, i nearly slap my head, didn't he hear Atillo, 'Passenger needs help.' he had said,

"He said they were going to Utopia." Martha points out,

"The perfect place. 100 trillion years, it s still the same old dream." The Doctor marvels,

"But that's all it is... A Dream." I say quietly,

"Do you recognize those engines?" The Doctor asked,

"Nope. Whatever it is, it s not rocket science. But it s hot, though." Jack comments salivating at the thought of a new engine, men...

"Boiling." The doctor agreed... We step back and Jack closes the door. "But if the universe is falling apart, what does Utopia mean?" He looked at me but quickly shook his head showing that he didn't want to know, that he wasn't allowed. Suddenly there was an old man between the three of us looking between the Doctor and Jack,

"The Doctor?" He asks Jack and I tense, YANA...

"That s me." The Doctor corrects, I was suddenly grabbed by the wrist ans was the doctor and we were led away,

"This must be Phoenix then. Good. Good. Good. Good. Good. Good. Good. Good. Good. Good." he repeats, I pull my hand from his grip and hold onto the Doctor's arm,

'How did he know who I was? Why did he talk about me?'

"It s good apparently." The doctor says back to the other two, I looked around and saw a women sitting along the wall and could see her grin slightly seeing the pointed yellow teeth,

FutureKind...

XXX

"Chan welcome tho." A girl says as we walk in, The doctor and I were led to a board,

"This is the gravitissimal accelerator. It s part of the..." He fades off as i look back at the girl, she shouldn't have had to die...

"Chan welcome tho." She repeated,

"And over here is the footprint impellor system. If you know anything about endtime gravity..." I catch before drifting over to Martha,

"Hello. Who are you?" Martha asks,

"Chan Chantho tho." Chantho introduces,

"But we can t get it to harmonize!" I hear YANA shout,

"Captain Jack Harkness." Jack flirts,

"Stop it." The doctor and I chorus,

"Can t I say hello to anyone?" He whines,

"If it's to flirt then no." I answer,

"Chan I do not protest tho." I groan as she said this,

"No one ever does."

"Maybe later, Blue." He winks and I felt the urge to slap him, "So, what have we got here?" he asked, Jack walked over to the doctor behind me as I grasped his arm again,

"And all this feeds into the rocket?" The Doctor asks,

"Yeah, except without a stable footprint we ll never achieve escape velocity. If only we could harmonize the five impact patterns and unify them, well, we might yet make it. What do you think, Doctor? Any ideas?" The old man asks,

"Well, um, basically...sort of...not a clue. Phoenix?" he looked at me, I shake my head,

"I can't help."

"Not even something as small as this?" he asks,

"This is not small." I bite out, "I want no part in it." I whisper.

"Nothing?" YANA asks,

"We're not from around these parts. We ve never seen a system like it. Sorry." the Timelord apologizes,

"No, no. I m sorry. It s my fault. There s been so little help." The professor sigh, clearly dejected. I pat the Doctor on the arm and walk to the sitting area where Martha is examining Jacks bag and pulls out a bubbling container with the Doctor's hand in it.

"Oh my God." She sets it on the table and others come to look. "You've got a hand. A hand in a jar. A hand in a jar in your bag." Martha strings together, I pat her head,

"That s that s my hand!" The Doctor exclaims in shock,

"I said I had a Doctor detector." Jack defends,

"Chan is this a tradition amongst your people tho?" Chantho asks,

"No." I answer,

"Not on my street. What d you mean that s your hand? You ve got both your hands, I can see them." Martha questioned slightly hysterical,

"Christmas day there was an invasion, Sycorax, where everyone was standing on the roofs?" she nodded, "He lost that hand just after regenerating in a sword fight, grew it back with some leftover energy." I shrug carelessly,

"You grew another hand?" Martha asks incredulously,

"Um yeah. Yeah I did. Yeah. Hello." he waves his fingers in her face,

"Might I ask what species are you?" YANA asked anyway,

"Not important." I cut in just as the doctor got the words out,

"Time Lord." he cast a glance at me, "Last of. Heard of them? Legend or anything? Not even a myth?" At his blank face he looks around "Blimey, end of the universe is a bit humbling." He commented as though it was about the weather,

"Chan It is said that I am the last of my species too tho." Chantho offered in comfort,

"Sorry, what was your name?" The doctor asked,

"My assistant and good friend, Chantho. A survivor of the Malmooth. This was their planet, Malcassairo, before we took refuge." YANA explained,

"The city outside, that was yours?" The doctor questioned,

"Chan the conglomeration died tho." I knew what was coming next and placed a hand over my eyes I embarrassment,

"Conglomeration! That s what I said!" I groan and slap him on the arm and he yelps, "What was that for?" I raise my eyebrow,

"You're supposed to say sorry." Jack informed looking mildly amused, he looked down embarrassed,

"Oh, yes. Sorry." He corrected,

"Chan most grateful tho." Chantho responded,

"You grew another hand?" Martha repeated in shock, the doctor waves his fingers again,

"Hello again. It s fine. Look. Really, it s me." He holds his hand out fingers still wiggling before he shaking Martha's hand. Martha laughs nervously,

"All this time and you re still full of surprises." Martha looked over at me, "Can you do that?" I shrug,

"I don't know. Not now, and I don't want to find out."she nods in understanding of my hidden meaning, I didn't know if as a star I could, but as a Timelord I could, given the same circumstances as the doctor.

"Chan-you are most unusual tho." Chantho observes, I laugh,

"Well..." The doctor hums,

"You have no idea." I continue,

"So what about those things outside? The Beastie Boys. What are they?" Jack asked,

"FutureKind." I deadpan,
