AN: Just a simple little scene that wouldn't get out of my head. Thanks for reading!
Emma steps onto the Jolly Roger, careful to avoid the loose plank she'd learned about the hard way. Her breath clouds around her as she quickly scans the deck, not surprised to find it's empty. (Even fearsome pirates have limits when it comes to these kinds of temperatures, Swan.)
Emma ducks below deck with a smirk, finding him in his cabin. Killian doesn't look up as she enters, too engrossed in whatever he's crouched over at his desk. She
steps up to wrap both arms around his neck, laughing when Killian jumps at the contact, startled out of his concentration.
"Did I scare you?" she teases, leaning her chin against his shoulder.
Killian chuckles, turning his chair to face her. "It's unwise to sneak up on a pirate, darling."
"Well, a true pirate should always be prepared for a sneak attack." Emma retorts, her smile contagious as she looks at him. "What were you so focused on, anyway?" She adds, peering around him to get a better view of the desk.
Killian sighs as Emma sidesteps him, lifting the stack of papers laying there. "Just a bit of sketching..." He explains, somewhat nervously, as Emma examines the drawings. She's taken aback when it's her own eyes, smudged in charcoal, staring up at her.
"You drew me?" she asks dumbly, her gaze raking over the paper. It's definitely her, she decides, taking in the swirls of her hair and the lines of her expression, done in long, dark strokes. Killian doesn't say anything at first, though Emma can feel his eyes on her, gauging her reaction.
"Aye." he says after a moment, sidling up next to her to get a view as well. "I had the image in mind, and it refused to leave until- well." He clears his throat, but
Emma gives a reassuring smile. She's always found this side of Killian endearing- the softer, hesitant side. The side which which never ceases to surprise Emma each time it makes an appearance.
"Killian," she says, still gaping at the drawing, "This is seriously beautiful."
He grins then, the nervousness dissipating. "It's nothing to rival the real thing." he murmurs, taking the page from Emma's hands to replace it on the desk. She rolls her eyes at the cheesy line, but breaks into a smile when Killian raises a brow at her, leaning down to capture her lips.
