As promised, I will try to update the story more often. Although my ideas for this story is running out so I will find ways to get inspired again. Meanwhile, I'm working on another story, based on the movie "The Heat".
Check it out and tell me if you like the idea
Thank you for still supporting and sticking to this story! I hope you'll enjoy this chapter!
Disclaimer: I don't own the Powerpuff girls series, the doujinshi version or the songs. Only some OOC.
Nice Dog
Buttercup sighed slightly as she ran through the halls. Why didn't she just go after Bubbles right after she ran out from the dance studio? It will take forever to find her now. Wow, she's more bothered about searching for her than caring how her sister must have felt. Yeah, the award to the best sister will definitely go to her. She stopped to check in the cafeteria and she only spotted one of her sisters, being all lovey-dovey with her dork to boyfriend. After making a face she continues her search until she ran into Sandra and Robin, an old friend of the Powerpuff girls.
Buttercup gave Robin a hug and smiled before looking worried again.
"Hey guys, have you seen Bubbles? She bailed the dance lesson before and I don't know where she went." Sandra nodded and shared a look with Robin.
"Yeah, we just met up with her. She said she wanted some time alone and she seemed a bit down. Did something happen?" Buttercup sighed slightly and massaged her neck in annoyance.
"Nothing, but I just wanted to see if she's ok. I should go and check on her." Buttercup waved goodbye to her friends before searching through every class again. When she was about to give up she spotted Bubbles under a tree, sitting with her dog Courage, through a window and ran towards her.
"How did that dog even get here?" thought Buttercup to herself.
When she stood beside her Bubbles didn't say anything or even look up at her. Buttercup sat beside her sister and scratched the back of her head, not knowing what to say. With the little patience she has, Buttercup finally broke the silence.
"Care to tell me what happened back there?" She waited for Bubbles to answer or react in some way but she didn't move or say anything at all.
"Look….it's okay to be insecure with dancing in front of people. It's not like people learn how to do that in a day, right?" She playfully nudged Bubbles arm but she still didn't react. Buttercup sighed loudly, not knowing what to do at all. Oh god, she was indeed bad at this. Maybe Blossom can talk to her later.
"I'm sorry if anything I said before made you sad. I don't like seeing you this down. You know you always have me if you want to talk or need help with the dance. I'll give you some space now." After a moment of silent Bubbles nodded and gave Buttercup a hug, which Buttercup responded to and stood up, taking a last glance at Bubbles before going away.
Bubbles glanced towards the direction Buttercup and hugged her legs. She didn't like to be so frightened about trying new things. She was so afraid to mess up that it eventually always got worse than expected. She wanted some help from her sister but she was too coward to ask. She will never be as good as her. Bubbles got tired of just sitting and feel sorry for herself so she went up and decided to do something to distract herself with.
Buttercup growled slightly while getting beaten in another round of Tekken by some friends of her from Megaville. After talking to Bubbles she didn't feel like going to the cafeteria and went to the large mall beside the school. There she met some from her school's soccer club and went to the arcade with them.
"Oh come on! There's no way Eddy beats me at this!
"Hey! He might be stupid but he's really good at video games, okay? We warned you." Edd, or also known as "Double D", crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at Buttercup. She rolled her eyes and eventually admitted her defeat.
"Whatever, I'm starving! Let's go and buy some food or else I will have to eat one of you." Her friends made some faces before following her out. They went to the closest Mc Donald's and as usual, Buttercup ordered her Big Mac meal with extra fries, bigger drink, some nuggets, hot wings and an ice cream. When they were searching for a table someone called for her and she knew almost instantly who it was.
"Woah, Butterbutt. Is the circus coming to town or what? Who's gonna eat all that?" She turned around with an annoyed expression and spotted Butch sitting with Brick, Mitch, Penny and Josh at a table. He waved her over and she rolled her eyes, taking a seat beside Penny – putting another table besides theirs so that her friends could join them.
"Guys, these are my friends from Townsville. Brick, Mitch, Penny and her boyfriend Josh. That annoying dude over there is called Butch." Penny blushed madly when Buttercup mentioned Josh and Butch gave her a dirty look. She, on the other hand, totally ignored their reactions.
"These are Ed, Double D and Eddy. They are my team mates at the school's soccer club." Brick chuckled slightly and raised an eyebrow.
"Double D? As in Edd with two D's, I guess. Cool nickname, but really though?"
"Oh yeah, he could definitely use that for a line to get girls." Butch smirked and high fived his brother, which only left an unimpressed expression on Double D. Like it was the first time he heard that.
"Right? I've told Double D to play along but he just won't budge. When I asked a few girls if they wanted the D, the Double D or Eddy he totally ditched me," said Ed proudly and the boys totally approved the friend of Buttercup.
"Oh man! Too bad, it would've been hilarious otherwise!" Mitch and Butch laughed their face off before a discussion about pick-up lines started between the boys. Penny and Buttercup just blinked and stared at them. They literally became friends in just a few seconds. Buttercup sighed while Penny giggled beside her.
"Your friends seems cool. Do they have any classes with you?"
"Honestly, I don't think they can either sing or dance. But if I'm not wrong, they do play instruments. They usually just fool around so it wouldn't surprise me if they do it here too. Except Double D. He's a goodie-good like Blossom." Brick suddenly got interested in the girls' conversation and coughed slightly.
"Where's your sister anyway?"
"I don't know? Somewhere with her boyfriend, far from my eye-sight at least." He let out a small growl which Buttercup noticed but didn't pay that much attention to anyway.
"Hey, I always wanted to ask but I forgot – what's you and your sister's specialties?"
"Yeah, BC. I'm curious too." Buttercup stared at Mitch, Penny and Brick in confusion. What was this all about?
"What?" Mitch laughed slightly as if Buttercup made a joke but soon realized she really didn't understand.
"Oh come on, BC. Like every K-pop group member have their "title" like leader, main rapper, main dancer and so on. We know Blossom is your leader but in an entertainment way – what's your specialties?" Buttercup sat and thought about it for a second. She never really thought of it before.
"Uhm, I'm not sure, to be honest. I guess we just haven't picked out something that is our main thing yet. How about you?" Mitch shrugged and nodded.
"Ah well, I'm not in a band or group so I guess I'm a multi-kind of guy. Brick's group have titles though. Sort of."
"Really?"
"Yeah," said Brick and leaned back on his chair, as if it was not a big deal.
"Boomer is obviously the main dancer. I'm mostly in charge of producing, if we don't play live, and the main rapper while Butch is the main singer." Buttercup lifted one eyebrow and gave Brick a confused look.
"You're the main rapper? I wouldn't expect that but on the other hand I haven't heard you yet, so I'm not in the place to judge you here. Although…is this guy the main singer? Really?" Buttercup pointed slightly at Butch's direction and surprisingly Butch grabbed her hand and pulled her closer to him. Too close.
"What? You don't think I can sing? I thought you loved my singing from yesterday, Sweets," he said and winked at her. Buttercup quickly pulled her hand away and crossed her arms.
"I'm not saying you're that bad, it's just shocking." Butch growled under his breath and stood up. Perfect. She has made two people upset today. When will she learn to think before she speaks or just keep her mouth shut? Too her surprise he went onto a small stage that was in the middle of the mall. What's up with this place anyway?
He mentioned for his brother, Mitch and Josh to join him. To her surprise the Ed's followed him as well. People started to gather around the stage, curious about what was going to happen. Brick set up a drum set while Mitch and Josh put on a bass and a keytar. The Ed's were having a wind instrument each. Ah, that's their specialty, thought Buttercup. Penelope waved to her boyfriend and stood smiling beside Buttercup while Buttercup had a hard time processing everything. What's happening? Is this another I'll-prove-to-you-I'm-better-than-you-think challenge by Butch? Soon the first tunes were playing and at the very front stood Butch with a guitar and a microphone stand.
("Treasure" by Bruno Mars)
Butch started to sing and wore a confident smirk. It didn't take long before girls were screaming. Seriously, where did everyone come from?
Give me your, give me your, give me your attention, baby
I gotta tell you a little something about yourself
You're wonderful, flawless, ooh, you're a sexy lady
But you walk around here like you wanna be someone else
Butch had his eyes only at Buttercup while he was singing. She didn't know if the lyrics effected it a little but she felt embarrassed all of sudden and tried to avoid eye contact in order to stop blushing. But it was hard since it felt like his eyes was piercing right through her.
(Oh whoa-oh-oh)
I know that you don't know it, but you're fine, so fine (fine, so fine)
(Oh whoa-oh-oh)
Oh girl, I'm gonna show you when you're mine, oh mine (mine, oh mine)
Treasure, that is what you are
Honey, you're my golden star
You know you can make my wish come true
If you let me treasure you
If you let me treasure you
"You really call that an okay singer? Be honest, Buttercup, he's great and deserves his title." Buttercup, without saying anything, bit her lip nervously and nodded slowly. Penny laughed at this and Buttercup playfully hit her arm.
(Whoa-oh-oh-h-h-h)
Pretty girl, pretty girl, pretty girl, you should be smiling
A girl like you should never look so blue
You're everything I see in my dreams
I wouldn't say that to you if it wasn't true
"Wow, okay. I know he's super handsome but even I didn't think he would break you down into awe, BC." Buttercup snapped out of her trance and blushed madly. Okay, she was more into his voice not his looks. It's not like she was drooling over him or something.
"You were."
"What?"
"I can read your mind by just looking at you having an inner argument with yourself." Buttercup scoffed and crossed her arms again.
(Oh whoa-oh-oh)
I know that you don't know it, but you're fine, so fine (fine, so fine)
(Oh whoa-oh-oh)
Oh girl, I'm gonna show you when you're mine, oh mine (mine, oh mine)
Treasure, that is what you are
Honey, you're my golden star
You know you can make my wish come true
If you let me treasure you
If you let me treasure you
(Whoa-oh-oh-h-h-h)
People began to clap with the music and cheered loudly. Buttercup and Penny happily tagged along. She still couldn't believe it. How did a jerk like him have such a good voice? It's beyond her imagination. Their eyes met again and he winked at her. Does he want her face to be all red or what's his game?
You are my treasure, you are my treasure
You are my treasure, yeah, you, you, you, you are
You are my treasure, you are my treasure
You are my treasure, yeah, you, you, you, you are
Treasure, that is what you are
Honey, you're my golden star
You know you could make my wish come true
If you let me treasure you
If you let me treasure you
(whoa-oh-oh-h-h-h)
Butch danced around with the guys and when they were done he went down the stage and stood in front of Buttercup. He had a serious face on and just stared at her for a moment. She gulped and expected a shout, tease, laugh or whatever. But he only showed a thumb's up, tilted his head and wore his gorgeous smirk.
"Am I approved now?" She looked away embarrassed but showed him a thumb's up too, leaving him satisfied and smiling widely.
Boomer sighed as he stood in front of another girl, whom he didn't recognize. Must be from Megaville. No one said a word, all you could hear was the breeze that swiftly went by. Oh, god. This is turning into a cheesy chick-flick scene. He shook his head and scratched the back of his head.
"Uh….can I help you with something?" The girl looked up at him for a moment before turning around to hide her face.
"He's looking right at me. His deep ocean-blue eyes are staring right into my soul. It's piercing through my heart. Oh, if he only knew how much he means to me. How his small kind gestures warms me up inside. If he only could realize how perfect we would be together."
Boomer blinked slowly and stared at the girl's back. She did knew that he could hear her, right? He sighed again. What's up with girls always making their confessions so dramatic? She turned around to face him again, biting her lips nervously.
"Bo-Boomer. I need to confess something to you. I…I love you! Even if we've just met I know I have feelings for you that I can't really explain." She waited for a response from him but he said nothing so she continued to talk.
"I…I know I'm not that pretty, smart nor good at anything. But I just want you to know that I'll do anything for you." Suddenly Boomer lifted her chin and looked deeply into her eyes. She was too scared to move because she didn't expect him to make a move so fast.
"You're beautiful and perfect, just the way you are. But I'm afraid I cannot return your feelings." He let's go of her and looks away.
"He's so cool," the girl whispered to herself as she watched.
"I have someone else in my heart. You don't deserve a man who doesn't truly love you. I'm sorry." She ran towards him and embraced him.
"Don't say that! There's no one better than you!"
"There is and you will eventually find your soul mate. Promise you'll never stop searching for your happiness." She looked up to him and gave him a last hug, before dramatically pushing him away and face him with her back.
"I won't. Goodbye, my love," with that she ran away from him and hid her face.
Boomer watched her leave and brushed some dust off his cardigan. Geez, some girls were just so troublesome. Why couldn't they ever just leave him alone? Obviously girls often approached him just because they wanted to have something to tell their friends about and Boomer gave it to them, because it will make them go away faster. Otherwise they would be all clingy and he hated that. If he only could ignore them or give them a strict no, like his brothers do. But he doesn't have the heart to do it.
While sighing over his so-called problem he noticed that the door to one of the dance studios were open. Music were coming from inside and he decided to just check to see if someone was there. He saw Bubbles sitting on the floor and he suddenly remembered what happened during class. He carefully walked in and was about to say something when the volume suddenly increased and he spotted a purple dog near the sound system.
But what really caught his attention was Bubbles, who started to dance in front of him.
(Sia – Chandelier || A/N: Not the original choreography! It's Amy Yakima's audition for 'So you think you can dance'. If you mute Amy's dance and start it when the Chandelier music video is at 1:34, you should see how I picture Bubbles dance. It fitted her more.)
'cos I'm just holding on for tonight
Help me, I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down won't open my eyes
Keep my glass full until morning light, 'cos I'm just holding on for tonight
On for tonight
Boomer didn't dare to move. He just stared at Bubbles doing her routine. He has never seen someone being so graceful while they dance.
Sun is up, I'm a mess
Gotta get out now, gotta run from this
Here comes the shame, here comes the shame
She had an extraordinary body control and her lines were perfectly on point. She made it look so effortlessly and easy. But Boomer knew better. Her flexibility was just as flawless and made the dance even more appealing. The thought of what Butch would've probably said about her flexibility made his mind work in a dark way and he stood there, covering half of his face to hide his flushed cheeks.
1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier
I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist
Like it doesn't exist
Her jumps and spins were like heaven for Boomer. Since technique is very important for him, Boomer couldn't help but to admire the girl in front of him. It was almost like he saw everything in slow motion.
I'm gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry
I'm gonna swing from the chandelier,
Since Boomer was in a trance, he didn't noticed how she moved closer and closer towards him, until it was too late.
from the chandelier
With the last note, Bubbles jumped and spun but didn't land on the floor, like she was expecting, but crashed into someone instead. Boomer blushed slightly when he noticed Bubbles was on top of him and coughed a little to get her attention. She lifted her head and was so close to Boomer's face that their noses almost touched. She let out a shriek and quickly got of him, bowing slightly as she held her mouth.
"What are you- I mean how did you-? When did you- I'm sorry!" She nervously blurted out anything that came to mind and Courage had by now turned off the music. Boomer was still curious about the dog but decided to let it slip this time and got up on his feet.
"No, I should be the one apologizing for sneaking up on you like that." She was about to apologize again but figured that he must have seen her danced and looked away, embarrassed.
"It's fine. Just- knock next time, okay?" He nodded but also noticed how she avoided eye-contact and grabbed one of her shoulders, so that she would look up to him.
"You were wonderful. There's nothing to be ashamed of. Your technique and skills are flawless. Superb, if I must say it myself. How come you didn't show this side of you this morning?"
She sighed and looked down, biting her lips.
"I…have a slight issue with how people judge me and my technique doesn't help me anywhere when it comes to street styles. I look like a walking stick, which triggers the thought of what others will think even more. I know I'm not perfect, but it's hard to face the looks people give you when they judge you in a negative way. I hate it."
Boomer gave her a worried look and bend down to her level, since he was a bit taller,
"You know, if they would've seen what you did just now – they would've never ever judged you again. I bet no one is as good as you when it comes to modern dance. Believe me, you look like an angel – WHEN YOU DANCE, I mean you look gorgeous when you dance. I mean-, you know what I mean." Boomer could feel his cheeks getting flushed again and scratched the back of his head, leaving Bubbles giggling at his gestures. She was flattered and found him very cute.
"Thank you. I wish I was as brave as you, standing on a stage in front of a huge crowd and really go for it. I bet it feels amazing."
"It sure does, but don't be so negative Bubbles. I'm sure you will overcome your fear and when you do, you will take over for sure." Bubbles lifted her face and smiled at him. How can someone be so nice, especially after you just knocked them down?
"Thanks a lot, again. I feel so much better now." He nodded nervously as his heart skipped a beat. This girl only smiled at him and he was already knocked over. This never happened before.
"H-How about we just make a deal? You teach me contemporary, ballet and jazz while I'll teach you street; hip hop, house etc. Maybe it'll help you to loosen up a little?" She giggled and gave him a big hug before letting go and do an ok-sign.
"Deal!"
"Deal." He smiled and before he knew it, he gave her a kiss on the cheek and froze, which she did too. They both lookedaway, embarrassed, and he excused himself before it got too awkward.
"So….I'll see you later then?"
"Yeah."
"Good, good. OKAY, I gotta go – got some…manly things to do with my bros. Uh…nice dog, by the way." He quickly left the studio and hit his head against the wall.
Nice dog? Nice dog?! He could've said something cool but mentioned her purple dog instead. He wasn't thinking straight. What was she doing to him? He never acted like this around girls. That's what they usually do! His brothers would definitely laugh at him if they knew about this, which they won't. But at least he now had something to look forward to.
And let's end this here before I totally go off track. Okay, so this chapter got a bit long, I hope I didn't cause anyone to die out of boredom.
I will have to work more on the next chapter because it felt like I was just blurting out stuff now. But I hope I managed to stick to the plot enough to not get you guys too confused.
I hope you at least enjoyed reading it. Feel free to review and send some ideas or what you would like to happen. Perhaps I'll find a way to put it into the story? Until next time, ciao!
