X - Part Two

'Love comforteth like sunshine after rain.'

Her eyes widened in fear and she struggled to get out of his grip, wanting to explain herself, but he denied her the option, instead tightening his hold of her body, his hands gripping at the fabric of her loose gown.

"He... He saved me, and offered to take me home, I-"

"Why did you let him touch you?"

"What?" She asked, confused, "I only sat with him on the horse, what's wrong with that? I even walked a short distance home so he wouldn't know where we live."

"I don't care about any of that, I care about the fact that he was so close to you."

"What's it to you Haytham, I couldn't prevent it could I?"

"That man didn't have the right to as much as look at you..."

"That man is your son, and he was only helping me, why are you being so possessive?" She gave up, knowing that trying to escape his grasp was useless. "I don't belong to you Haytham, you said so yourself, that you don't want me to."

"I never said that!" He countered, letting her go.

"Well you said that you don't want me to get close to you, for me its the same thing." She bit down on her lip, still with her back to him, glad he couldn't see her pained expression.

"So you run along to Connor, is that it?" He asked quietly, as if he was disappointed. Her eyes widened in anger and she had to stop the urge to slap him at that very moment, her head shaking in disgust.

"How can you say that?"

"I know you'll be alone, but..."

She suddenly turned around, "Connor would never, ever, replace you! You're the one I've fallen in love with!" She yelled, before realising what she just said and gasped, pressing her hand to her mouth in an attempt to take it all back. It was too late, she disobeyed him, she went against the one thing he wanted. He stared at her, and then smiled, glad that she finally said it.

"Finally," he whispered.

There was darkness around them, but at that moment only words and actions mattered. Her fingertips caught onto her neckline, fidgeting with it, while her other hand struggled to stop from grasping onto him, desiring for him to embrace her again, hold her in those sturdy and protective arms of his. At moments like those she felt like she loved him with every fibre of her small and unimportant being. She was only a tiny part of his life, yet to her he was everything.

"All I said before Ann," he continued, "I was a bastard."

She shook her head in protest. "You were right, you were right Haytham, you're going away and there's no point in continuing this," she replied bitterly, knowing she had to make it sound convincing despite wanting to say something else entirely.

"No! For once in my life I don't want to follow my duty, for once I want to choose. I'm old, I know, and miraculously, I've been given a second chance, and... And I want to make the most of it. Please, forgive me. There are no words to describe how I hate myself for making you suffer like this, for rejecting what's right in front of me."

"Haytham, I understand that you're going away, I'm not a child any-more, I can take another loss."

"No you can't!"

"Yes I can, I can live without you."

"Well I can't!" He shouted, taking hold of her arms, with such desperation in his voice, his eyes full of regrets and what could have been, and how he wanted to change everything. How he wanted to change who he was. She was stunned, however, not a hint of fear passed through her expression.

"What are you trying to say?"

"Well what do you think I'm trying to say, god-damn it?" He replied, almost chuckling at the torture he was going through. He hushed, calmed and looked her in the eyes. She looked back at him, reaching her palm out until it met the soft surface of his cheek, her fingertips running over it in a caress. He saw a smile that formed on her full lips, her eyes half-closing, her hand so warm and her scent intoxicating. He leaned in, her eyes opening again upon seeing him move, surprised as she felt his breath against the edges of her lips, his hand suddenly resting on the small of her back. She felt as if she would burst into flames at the moment their lips made contact.

He was so tender. Treating her as if she was about to break into a million pieces. Her palm ran along his skin until she found the nape of his neck, taking hold of it, leaning in even more until she stood on her tip toes, trying to reach him. He pushed her backwards into the wall, deepening the caress of their mouths, his free hand pressed against the cold surface for support as she titled her head to allow him to take full possession of her.

Everything became blurry, her eyes shutting as if blinded, lust taking complete control of all her senses. That man, that devil of a man took complete control of her, no matter how hard she tried freeing herself, he was so much stronger, every part of her seemed to belong to him. And there was no stopping a Templar when he got his hands on the one thing he desired.

He stopped, breaking the contact, his lips still touching hers while her eyes fluttered open, her breaths heavy and her eyes coated with moisture, her expression satisfied, but questioning, as if she wanted him to continue. To take her away into the land of the love-drunk. His taste and the feeling of his tender lips roughly working against her own... She desired the sensations to return to her, she needed them.

His expression was serious in turn, yet his eyes craved for the same thing. They were dark but still the colours were wavering like waves in a storm. She felt weak in her knees from those eyes digging into her as if he was trying to pull out something that she failed to tell him.

"Why?" She whispered, unable to find her voice.

"Don't question, just continue loving me," he replied, pressing his body into hers until she voiced her sighs.

"You knew..."

"Of course," his breath was in her ear as he spoke in that voice of his. It was deep and piercing, no one else had such a voice, no one else had the power to wield such authority, to say such words.

"Yet you forbid me to feel that way."

"You should learn to break the rules Ann," he hissed, "especially when the feeling is mutual." He smiled as he finished, hearing her tense up under him as the words struck her. "I never wanted to distance myself from you, you weren't the only one hurting. I've never felt so angry at myself, I felt like it would be my fault if I let you go so easily. I was afraid it was too late, too late to tell you that this weathered heart of mine still felt something other than just the need for revenge or hate towards everyone who ever came close to me."

"But you're going away, I can't let myself fall for someone who's going to leave me behind. Everyone left me already. My Father, Charles, my Mother, even my own sister whom I trusted. And now you."

"I won't leave you, not any more."

"But how? You need to, you'll die if you stay, I don't want you to get hurt."

"Ann..."

"I can't bear losing someone who is so dear to me, not again."

"But Ann-"

"Is there any point to any of this? You were right all along Haytham, don't deny it. By touching me like this and making me feel this way...Why do you torture me so?"

"Ann!" He cut in, his palms taking hold of her face carefully, leaning in until she looked into his eyes again, her own hands resting upon his own, feeling his slightly wrinkled skin. "I don't want to distance myself from you - from the woman I desire - any longer, I won't let it happen."

She blinked. Love. Desire. Such simple feelings. Conveyed through simple gestures.

"I'm taking you with me, even if it kills us both."
